Reviews for Saigon Morin Hotel

Review 1:We were allocated a spacious room overlooking the river. The breakfasts were delicious and varied and set in a lovely garden. The hotel was within close proximity to tourist attractions and restaurants.

Review 2:Central location means also some noice of traffic, especially on the river side rooms that are facing the busy street. The windows are not that sound proof, so it is recommendable to have own ear plugs for a relaxed sleep.

Review 3:The hotel has a great location with walking distance to the Citadel, restaurant area and the river promenade. Hotel has a nice historical flair and caracter. It is well kept and very clean. The staff is attentive and nice.

Review 4:The front desk staff will try and sell you tours, drivers, massage etc.

Review 5:Great location, great breakfast. Large spacious room, quiet and very dark. Shower was basic but good hot water

Review 6:Upgraded accommodation, marvellous mornings beginning with excellent and lengthy breakfasts in a lovely setting, warm and interested staff who made us feel welcome and comfortable. Lovely historical feel and perfect location

Review 7:Only minor problem for me was the height of the shower head that was not adjustable.

Review 8:This is elegance akin to colonial proportions. All very beautiful and luxurious. Breakfast was generous with good variety of choice. Sadly the weather was wet which meant we could not take advantage of the gardens which was rather a shame. Otherwise we loved it.

Review 9:Knowing we were there for one night only i think they should have initiated questions and suggestions regarding what to do.

Review 10:The hotel was apologetic for not responding in time to our queries and volunteered an unexpected upgrade as a gesture of goodwill.

Review 11:The restaurant is a bit pricy, and the hotel is a bit far from the town centre.

Review 12:The hotel is located along the river, a nice location for those who prefers a scenic and quieter environment, though it is not in the busier part of the town. The hotel is a colonial style hotel with very spacious rooms. Furniture is a bit outdated but the room is clean and comfortable. It has a nice garden and a nice swimming pool (though a bit small). Food in the restaurant is good, though a bit pricy.

Review 13:The nostalgic atmosphere, the spacious rooms. The pool was a welcoming refreshing change after a morning out on the tourist trail. The garden cafe was a delight for breakfasts.

Review 14:government run hotel; i. e. lots of staff but not well trained depending on room location pretty noisy awful mattress poor breakfast old fashioned interior

Review 15:good location spacious room

Review 16:We thought the location was great - just a short walk to the many restaurants & bars as well as being close to the citadel. The hotel has real charm & we enjoyed breakfast outside in the pretty courtyard. Our room on the first floor was nicely appointed & very spacious. I'd highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a nicer hotel with a bit of character.

Review 17:Staff are pleasant but do not seem particularly welcoming. Also the panorama bar was being used for a private function during our stay so we could not use it.

Review 18:A charming old prestigious colonial hotel. The location is perfect overlooking the river and only a short walk to the citadel. Breakfast is taken in the central quadrangle garden which is magical. Staff in the gym were very helpful.

Review 19:We loved this grand old hotel. Very majestic and in a great central location. Lovely outside dining area. Very large room and super large bed. Shower in the bath is a bit tricky but every thing else well makes up for that.

Review 20:Very nice atmosphere with a touch of old world charm. Great location close to the Bridge and within walking distance of many good restaurants. Staff consistently friendly and helpful.

Review 21:Charming, characterful hotel with a lovely ambience and incredible staff. The swimming pool is divine and the breakfast excellent. Absolutely faultless.

Review 22:Great place in a colonial building. Room very nice and breakfast very good served in the garden with a lot of old trees. Good position on the perfume river near to the citadel.

Review 23:Excellent breakfast in a beautiful garden! Very spacious rooms. Impressive ambiance in great colonial style building and setting. Very central location

Review 24:The location is perfect, very central to all of of Hué's highlights. The staff is very friendly and service minded. They will do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. I will highly recommend this hotel.

Review 25:Nothing negative comes to mind.

Review 26:Though renovated, this vintage hotel has retained its original charm. Its rooms are spacious and comfortable. Its staff is helpful and courteous. It is centrally located in the town of Hue.

Review 27:The hotel ambiance, its history, charm The hotel garden and pool Location on the bank of the Perfume river The fairy tales left every evening on the night stand

Review 28:Not being able to stay longer! We loved it.

Review 29:I love old colonial hotels and the Saigon Morin did not disappoint. Modernized, clean, and fresh, yet old-world French Indochina atmosphere. A great place with great food and staff. HUGE ROOMS. VERY flexible to requests. Highly recommended!

Review 30:Its a bit of a walk to the Citadel. Food and drink in the hotel was more expensive than we expected

Review 31:The hotel was a real treat after the overnight train from Hanoi. Staff were friendly. Pool was good and the games.

Review 32:Staff are pleasant and doing their job well, but would not go extra mile. Pool bar and in-room menu are extremely overpriced, and the quality could be better.

Review 33:Beautiful old hotel, large clean rooms, pool. Breakfast is a good variety, but mostly Vietnamese food - "western" choices are rather limited.

Review 34:All was going well until one morning when my room door didn't lock. I found a staff member in the corridor who promised to get it fixed immediately. I returned 5 hours later and my room was still unlocked giving anyone access to my bags. From a security point of view I was very upset, I d see any point to pay good money for a room that doesn't lock so I waited almost an hour to ensure it was fixed. Service was also very mixed depending on who was on shift

Review 35:It is a beautiful old building near the night markets and within walking distance of the old citadel

Review 36:They didn't have the cinema going - I had read that we could watch a movie about the history of the hotel

Review 37:We loved looking out from the balcony towards the river & watching all the comings & goings

Review 38:Wish we could have stayed longer

Review 39:Centrally located, this colonial-style hotel is charming and grand. We had a great view from our very spacious and comfortable room. The breakfast variety is exceptional and is served in a beautiful outdoor courtyard. The facilities are excellent and well-priced.

Review 40:The pool was very green and dirty and the pool bar was never staffed. Breakfast was ok but not the best I've ever had. The air on in one room leaked flooding the floor. The bathrooms were uncomfortable and had moldy ceilings.

Review 41:The location and the historic feeling of the hotel was great. Rooms were huge. Spa services like manicures, pedicures and haircuts were awesome and ridiculously cheap.

Review 42:Bathroom was a little dated (would be nice to have proper shower) The pool was not very clean - very cloudy water

Review 43:The rooms were huge and spotless Good central location Nice breakfast

Review 44:Nothing

Review 45:Lovely old building that has been sensitively modernised. Nice ambiance and friendly staff. Good pool, close to many good eating places and to the major sights of Hue.

Review 46:Wifi connection didn't work so well

Review 47:Very good atmosphere, very nice and quiet garden! Very good breakfast Very nice room , very confortable Such an historical place!

Review 48:Excellent location. The central courtyard where breakfast and dinner is served is a haven of tranquility away from the mayhem of the city. Elegance from a previous era

Review 49:We got talked into going to Valentine night dinner, food was so bad, breakfast was very average, the cereal choices were lmited to the sugary ones, yogurt was sweet, requested unsweetened but told unavailable. No healthy options availAble. Gym equioment was nearly as old as the hotel.

Review 50:Beautiful hotel lots of history and character. Staff were very good. Room was spacious and very comfortAble. My husband used the swimming pool which was very nice. Central atrium area was beautiful.

Review 51:There wasn't a single negative aspect about the hotel. In fact, it was one of the finest hotels I've ever stayed at, and I've visited approximately 40 countries in the world!

Review 52:First, the hotel was prompt, professional and helpful in all correspondence. Second, after requesting a room with a balcony and a good view of the river, the receptionist gave us one of only four rooms in the entire hotel with an extra large balcony and excellent view--all without our asking. Third, the room was beautifully appointed, with hardwood floors, marble bathroom, etc. Fourth, there was a lovely garden where we could eat the fantastic breakfast buffet. And fifth, the hotel was in a perfect location, next to the river in the centre of all the action, and only a short walk to the Citadel. It couldn't have been better!

Review 53:Pressure to give tips from feedback form and body language of spastaff

Review 54:The lounge on third floor has awesome view of bridge at night and shows Vietnamese war movies with English subtitles at 3 pm

Review 55:We stayed on Christmas eve and there were gala at the hotel. We happened to be staying right above the venue and they played pound music until past 11pm.

Review 56:The building, deco and good central location.

Review 57:Nothing, it was great it all ways

Review 58:Very helpful staff found us a room at short notice when our plans changed and upgraded us to a large suite. It was very comfortable and spacious, and the outside restaurant with the fountain was lovely. We hired a driver to take us to Hoi An through the hotel and he was very professional and helpful too, adapting stops along the way to suit us.

Review 59:This hotel is a gem and great value for money. Staff were great and it has a lovely atmosphere. Close to main attractions and plenty of restaurants in the vicinity. Highly recommended.

Review 60:nothing

Review 61:Our room was sensational and the hotel environment was exceptional. Staff and service were great. The hotel was a part of Hue and we felt part of the history.

Review 62:Saigon Morin is a classic hotel telling the turbulent story of the French colony-time, the dramatic communist-years (where the hotel was the University of Hue!) - and the present time with luxury and leisure.

Review 63:The elevator was like a sauna... The breakfast has a variety of choice but the Vienamese food was not good enough except live cooked noodles.

Review 64:Old but well maintained. Professional workers. The room is so spacious that I even felt guilty dominating the big room by myself!!

Review 65:Food was a bit disappointing But so many great restaurants nearby - try ninas cafe.

Review 66:Location Beautiful building Enormous rooms Enchanting outdoor space - a little oasis in the city.

Review 67:A gem of a destination. Lots to visit. Staff at the hotel attentive but not over the top. Very lovely colonial hotel near to the citadel, markets and restaurants, bars etc and overlooking the river. Also has a relaxing pool.

Review 68:No exercise bike in the otherwise well-equipped gym.

Review 69:There are numerous historical sites nearby that celebrate Vietnam's past. The hotel's facilities are world class, contained within a special piece of colonial history. The courtyard reminds us of Raffles of old; still retaining century-old trees.

Review 70:location

Review 83:The hotel was a beautiful haven that was a joy to come back to after a day of sight seeing.

Review 84:Loved the history of the hotel and the lovely courtyard for breakfast. Friendly staff were very responsive to our needs.

Review 85:The pool is a little bit small. The pool deck is hard sunny on morning

Review 86:The location is very worth. We are very comfort here

Review 87:Swimming pool a bit small, Hotel is located on a noisy road junction.

Review 88:Stunning hotel, great location

Review 89:Well situated and a good view. The historic hotel was beautiful and the breakfasts in the courtyard garden were definitely the star attraction.

Review 90:Bathroom could do with modernising

Review 91:Location View from my room Style of the hotel (beautiful old colonial style) Pool Fantastic buffet breakfast

Review 92:Fabulous staff, attentive but subtle.

Review 93:Classic atmosphere catering to mature patrons, not for people in need of constant entertainment.....

Review 94:WiFi poor reception may not be hotels fault.

Review 95:Very nice hotel. However may need a little upgrading.
