Reviews for Huong Giang Hotel Resort & Spa
Review 1:Decoration, room lighting, elevator has no safety sensor, bathroom door knob is loose and feels like it about to fall out. Receptionists don't seem to be friendly.
Review 2:The bed is very comfortable
Review 3:A little tired, could do with a makeover unless you like bamboo furniture and decor
Review 4:Excellent sized rooms, this is a 50year old hotel in one of the prime locations.
Review 5:Hotel past its prime and needs some maintenance. Our air conditioner spat ice out for two days intermittently and hotel extetior really run down - broken tiles not fixed, garden over grown etc
Review 6:Food in hotel restaurant was excellent
Review 7:Nothing!
Review 8:We were happily surprised upon our check-in. The smiling staff informed us that they had upgraded all our 3 rooms to suite rooms with river view. One couple in our group had the Executive Suite room which included a sauna and a jacuzzi! Rooms are of course comfortable, clean and the staff are very helpful and informative.
Review 9:Smelt smokey. Restaurant had alot of finger marks on tables. At the pool you had to ask for towels and their was no drinks service. Could not get wifi in our bedroom.
Review 10:Nice manicure. Very good reception assistance. One of the few hotels that had 2 bedrooms. And they were reasonably spacious.
Review 11:We stayed here for two nights in June. Two members of staff told us our room was great, and they weren't wrong. It was room 235 which appears to be one of the best in the hotel. I'm not sure if we were upgraded or simply fortunate, but the room turned out to be a large suite overlooking the river. We enjoyed wonderful sunsets in the riverside bar. The bed was huge, larger than a super kingsize. The staff were very friendly and even stood outside waving us off after we checked out.
Review 12:Internet in block B was weak and varied in strength but locals do all their communication on mobiles so no local pressure for better reception.
Review 13:Good location, walk to restaurants, shops etc. Nice grounds and pool. Mainly caters for local weddings and Chinese tourists who are not as fussy as a 'westerner'. However I'm sure it will become part of an international chain in time and have lots of money spent on it and prices will rise. Good value
Review 14:- Breakfast was terrible unless you are Asian (large variaty of rice and noodles but only 1 sort of thought white bread) - Staff was unfriendly, like everything you asked was to much..
Review 15:- Pool - Other nice facilities
Review 16:Breakfast menus. Should be changed daily. My friend and I stayed there for almost 2 weeks... I had seen the same foods every morning.
Review 17:Friendly staffs.
Review 18:Guest just go straight to the front desk for check in without any order and regardless of bugging other guest is checking in. What a wasting time if you try to form a check in line because it will never come to your turn.
Review 19:Hotel looks clean, friendly staffs.
Review 20:I asked for some milk to go with my tea. I was transferred to 8different staff on the phone before one actually understood what I wanted. I was then told milk to go in tea was not free and I would be charged There was no one in the lobby bar. The food was acceptable but that's all. Although the room was clean there were vast areas of neglect around the hotel re terraces that needed painting. There needs to. Be vast refurbishment before this hotel is worth staying in.
Review 21:Not much.
Review 22:Our only problems with this hotel was that one day Housekeeping wanted to clean our room at 09:00 which was a little early for us as we had been out on a trip the whole day before and had decided we weren't going to get up for breakfast and then the following day they were hovering in the corridor at 08:30!
Review 23:We stayed here as part of our Honeymoon and after reading some reviews I was a little concerned about the choice I had made. However when we arrived the front desk staff were welcoming and polite and were all the rest of the staff they we came upon during our week stay. The room was one of the biggest I have seen in a hotel for a long time and to have it carpeted was a bonus (there is a sign about having to pay for the carpet if you damage it but we didn't have any issues with that). The breakfasts were good and there was a decent mix of Western and Asian foods as well as my favourite the fresh egg station as I always enjoy an omelette for breakfast.
Review 24:Unfriendly staff, dirty floors in room, gardens overgrown, facilities tired, strong smell of cigarette smoke in rooms, aircondition does not work very well, wouldn't dream of using the spa/massage facilities.
Review 25:Good breakfast and good location
Review 26:we had a massage at their spa and although nice it wasnt the most relaxing one as staff were talking between them during the whole time.
Review 27:bed were huge and super comfortable, breakfast was amazing with plenty of choices and nice view on the river. wi-fi was good!
Review 28:Being given the wrong room type when we checked in. Corrected the next day when I complained. The bed which was uncomfortable. The lock on our room which you could open from the outside but all the hotel said was the hotel is safe, don't worry. No in room safe as standard. Generally tired. The emergency stairs to the sixth floor are quite scary. Try to stay no higher than the 5th floor.
Review 29:Location was good. The staff are very friendly and try hard to please.
Review 30:Large hotel that seemed very desolate. It was winter and so maybe few residents staying_!!
Review 31:Lovely room, we had a large family room. Huge double bed and girls had decent sized single beds. 3 balconies and a nice view over the Perfume River. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice.
Review 32:air condition did not heat and it was very cold when we visit Hue. Our first room had no hot water and we had to swap rooms very late in the evening.
Review 33:Staff very helpful, very good Breakfast and clean rooms
Review 34:there were 2 loud music parties during the day and a karaoke party in the evening. the rooms were carpeted and far from clean and the bathroom was dirty.
Review 35:We booked doubled bed room but ended up in a twin room. They moved the beds for us but it was terrible when we could feel the hard bed in the middle. The room was so cold, we almost got cold. Staffs are not friendly. Never go back
Review 36:Quite center
Review 37:There wasn't anything I disliked
Review 38:I had a junior suite and it measured up to my expectations and the cost was very reasonable, surprised me for what I got. The bathroom was large with a separate shower and a decent sized bath. The family room was spacious and furniture comfortable. The king bed was really comfortable. The room was spotless. The staff were friendly and helpful, English could have been a little better.
Review 39:Because it was a large hotel it seemed a little less personal service.
Review 40:The hotel was special in every way. Spacious room, huge bed and great facilities. The staff did all they could to assist for onward travel.
Review 41:nothing to complain about!
Review 42:very good breakfast, balanced mixture of Vietnamese and continental food (even real cheese was served!) big room with balcony and comfortable furnitured. Also the pool was great!
Review 43:Well,i have to say the voice of air conditioning too loudly
Review 44:My room got Nice view with river and also garden, clean as well.staffs are friendly and English speaking ,though it was just a short stay,I will come back again next time .
Review 45:Pool, spa, souvenir shop was closed. Restaurant meals were very pricy and small
Review 46:Room was very comfortable. Breakfast was the best one we had while in Vietnam.
Review 47:We rent services and excursions from the hotel. The guide wasn't a touristic guide at all, we have to pay twice the tickets of main monuments cause the "guide" didn't show us the best bits. The hotel didn't even thought for a second to refund us.A really disappointing experience.
Review 48:Spacious room and bed Nice view
Review 49:Staff were indifferent bordering on rude . Very keen to get the C/C and insisted on full payment upfront . We We booked a river suite , nice view but the room smelt very bad . The airconditioning unit was so loud and inefficient that we were unable to actually use it . The in room safe malfunctioned on 4 occasions and we had to contact the front desk for help , this was treated as a major inconvenience even though it was in no way our fault . The breakfast was abysmal , stale bread , warm juice and poor coffee . We had booked for 3 nights but had such an unenjoyable experience that we left after 2 nights , forfeiting our prepayment .
Review 50:The location of the hotel was excellent. The young man who greeted us on arrival was charming and very welcoming .Sadly that's where the positives end .
Review 51:old facilities, some of which were out of use (namely the outdoor part of the massages, the casino, and the Korean restaurant). Breakfast is only until 9am and overall below expectations (certainly for Vietnam!) Our floor was not cleaned during our stay, rest of the room was clean. Groups of tourists noisily flock the hallways as early as 6am, so it's a good place for early risers.
Review 52:Staff very friendly and helpful. Location good unless you want to be close to the Citadel. Nice pool, as soon as the fix the boarding at least (but that's said to be planned). Rooms also good size and set-up.
Review 53:We were very disappointed with the bus which the tour desk offered and booked for us to travel to Hoi An at the end of our stay. The bus left 2 hours late, with no information as to what was happening at any time, and was a dirty bed bus. Would have expected a much better recommendation from a hotel of this standard. There was a big party in the restaurant on our first night, with loud music and karaoke clearly audible in our room throughout the evening. The hotel did not respond to email requests for information prior to our arrival.
Review 54:Comfortable, spacious rooms, good value and location. Staff are friendly and helpful once you are at the hotel.
Review 55:1.Breakfast is duplicated everyday, not variety ex. fried yellow noodle, oven tomato, fried cabbage, 2.I never requested for morning call but staff called me in early morning.
Review 56:locaiton is good, river view is nice.
Review 57:We have no complaint.
Review 58:Hotel is good with all respects. Next time we will be back
Review 59:could not iron in room, english was poor.
Review 60:breakfast waitresses were lovely.hotel over all was very nice.food very good
Review 61:Narrow balcony.Dirty and worn carpets. Poor swimming pool
Review 62:Location
Review 63:Weak wifi
Review 64:Excellent location on the river
Review 65:I have stayed at the Huong Giang many times and am always pleased with the facility and service. A beautiful ,location right on the Perfume River.
Review 66:Old facilities
Review 67:Very noisy, several wedding party's à day with loud music. Staf not Very hospitable.
Review 68:Great location! Hotel is a bit rundown.
Review 69:Everything badly
Review 70:Nothing
Review 71:Pool size, Nail parlour, Sauna Prices
Review 72:Great Free Breakfast, Huge rooms
Review 73:Pool slightly green.
Review 74:We were upgraded to a suite when we arrived. Large Sitting Room, huge bedroom and two bathrooms!!
Review 75:Best breakfast
Review 76:European food was tasteless.
Review 77:Space of family room Breakfast
Review 78:No longer 4 star. Way past its prime, built in 1963.
Review 79:Great location, good value
Review 80:double bed was 2 singles pushed together
Review 81:Room was large
Review 82:The room is quite cold in the winter since they don't have heater.
Review 83:Dated decor
Review 84:Very good breakfast Nice view
Review 85:Wifi in the room was a little slow and signal strength was low unless you sat on a chair near the door.
Review 86:Good location to all the town area
Review 87:Nothing to speak of
Review 88:The location, the upgrade to a suite, the appointment of the room, the staff, the food, everything
Review 89:Noise, location
Review 90:upgraded room and breakfast staff
Review 91:Great place. Great Staff.
Review 92:Breakfast Swimming pool - requires maintenance as a priority
Review 93:Size of the family room
Review 94:we had a great riverside room.service was very good.breakfast very good with lots of choice.felt cared for.
Review 95:Location at the river is beautiful and also clise Ro the centre. Nice outdoor pool.
Review 96:The restaurant is expensive without reason.
Review 97:Hotel gardens and pool area in need of update.
Review 98:Good value for money, rooms big and staff were very helpful and friendly. Great breakfast. Hotel is in a good location and we were able to walk to some great restaurants
Review 99:No parking place. Air conditioners (both of them) make terrible noise at night. Main door's lock sometimes works sometimes don't work. When I complain about the problems, attendants and reception staffs say ok but they do nothing. Anyways, at the end, the director said sorry for everything.
Review 100:Nice river view
Review 101:Room was great. Staff very friendly. The manager had a great cheeky sense of humour. Very old grand hotel built in the sixties - think The Shining without the scary bits :-) The wifi wasn't working when I arrived but when I complained they fixed it immediately and it was very fast.
Review 102:The sauna not inlcluded o In the price, and whirlpool not hot but Luke warm. The sauna needs a facelift and better prepared staff.
Review 103:Very good deal due to low season and last minute. Very Well situated, next to the river as well as restaurants, and quite. Sauna and massage on site, breakfast perfect.
Review 104:A little bit austere for me. However it was the quiet season so maybe it was just lack of visitors that made it feel so quiet.
Review 105:Very nicely appointed room with ornate bamboo fixtures. My room had an excellent steam shower too.
Review 106:The decor is quite hideous and breakfast was bad. we went to dmz bar every day instead. Airco has too much power for the room, very windy.
Review 107:Nice pool, friendly staff, we had a great river view. After waking up to a sound check for a wedding at 8am we requested a room change. this was no problem, very accomidating. (it turned out vietnamese weddings are only during the afternoon so we stayed put)
Review 108:-Breakfast -Welcoming -Very small balcony without chairs -Swimming pool near the parking area (you have to go across to get there)
Review 109:-Room (Riverside view) -Location
Review 110:Rude staff, dirty shabby room. Alternative room no better. 'River view' actually means 'waste ground view'. Shabby and tacky. Utter rubbish.
Review 111:The soft sell when booking in to try and sell tours etc while "the room was getting made up" When no sale the room was suddenly available Cheap tacky and unnecessary approach
Review 112:All good Great breakfast
Review 113:Private car parking don't have proof so it's dangerous for electronic devices that's left on the car
Review 114:River view's nice. It locates in city's center. Clean and breakfast has delicious specialities
Review 115:Fantastic staff - especially reception, friendly and helpful throughout the stay. Good choice of food at breakfast. Nice swimming pool. 5 minute walk to shops and bars/food. Large rooms. Although this is an older hotel and could do with a bit of a spruce up, we felt this hotel was good value for what we paid due to proximity of shops, bars and resturants, and large swimming pool.
Review 116:Breakfast became gradually more sparse during our 5 day stay. The rooms are not soundproof at all and we heard a lot of noise as early as 6am every day. Lot's of corporate events with Very loud music/karaoke. Didn't bother us as it finished by 10pm but could annoy families with children. We were constantly offered drugs on the streets and it is very busy with tourists. The locals ripped us off a lot. So we were pleased to leave after our stay. No more than 3 days needed here.
Review 117:Facilities were excellent and we were upgraded to a river view room which was spectacular.
Review 118:The decoration of the place is so old-fashion.
Review 119:We book the Junior Suite so the room is quite roomie for my child - under 2 years old. I did request to take out the whole set up for living room so the room is much bigger
Review 120:Service could do with a bigger slant on customer care, eg we got alecture for being 'late' for breakfsat at 8.50am when breakfstfinished at 9am. Stark comparison to most of the rest of Vietnam.
Review 121:Brilliant Location on Perfume River with magic sunsets . Ensure bookriver view, though the view from the restaurant/drinks area isgreat too.
Review 122:1) Paying for your stay when you check in. 2) Too many people outside the hotel who solicit sex and massage - particularly if you are a male/s walking without female/s
Review 123:Location, river view, breakfast
Review 124:The rooms and decor are dated
Review 125:Helpful staff and generous rooms, the location is ideal - just in the river a short walk from tourist district and just over the ticket from the imperial citadel
Review 126:Would have liked some sort of seating on balcony. Would have liked aircon in waiting areas near reception.
Review 127:It was right on the Perfume River and had love flowers and shrubseverywhere. The rooms were of a good size and bed was huge. Had greatboat trip up river to see a pagoda. Tourist desk was very helpful.Lovely pool which was very welcome.
Review 128:carpet is worn out food at restaurant on 3/F was poor and expensive
Review 129:family room with 1 double bed in 1 room and 2 singles in the other room, enough room to add an extra single bed, Very good for a big family like us.
Review 130:Did not like the tour guide they gave us through the Concierge desk!! Weneeded an English speaking guide and the guide we got sort of spokeEnglish - heavy accent and seemed like she only memorized the tour guidebook. If we asked her questions she mostly repeated the "memorizedanswer" from the guide book. Then she got tempermental when wedidn't understand her. She was blatently disscusted when wedidn't know a type of tree she was trying to tell us about! That's when we started getting really annoyed and it all sort ofwent downhill from there! I would tell anyone to either be sure theguide speaks clearly the language you request or, find a guide on-lineprior to your visit. Also didn't like that the lobby/restaurant/bar was not air conditioned but understand why they don't do it.
Review 131:Hotel staff was very accommodating and tried to do everything to makeour stay comfortable and nice.
Review 132:The pool was quite small and a little 'tired'. The woodendecking around the outside needed some attention as there were somenails/screws sticking out and some loose boards, but despite this,it's was still pleasant to use after a days sightseeing.
Review 133:Good location, excellent breakfast spread. Rooms were well appointed andclean. We used the laundry service in the hotel which was very speedy(although rather more expensive than most other establishments). Staffwere polite and helpful.
Review 134:Busy road outside. Pool quite far from rooms.
Review 135:Nice restaurant near the river. Short cycloride to main sites in Hue. Room well equipped and large enough for family with small children.
Review 136:The western section of the breakfast buffet was mediocre at best. The wardrobe had a hanging rail that was fron to back, rather than across the wardrobe, and the hangers were fixed to it, making using them very, very awkward!! There were also no drawers and very little shelf space..we had to place our clothes on the floor of the wardrobe! Room lighting was very dim. With a few simple modifications the rooms could be vastly improved.
Review 137:We liked the riverside location, and closeness to restaurants, shops etc.We also liked the pool and small gym (which could be better). The rooms were spacious with a huge bed and a small balcony with great views over the hotel grounds and the river.
