Reviews for Pilgrimage Village Boutique Resort & Spa

Review 1:I would not recommend the hotel for families with small kids. Very little to intertain them with. Very few and poor dining opportunities around the hotel - and hotel restaurant expensive.

Review 2:The most beautiful place with smiling and attentive staff. Clean and spotless inside and outside. Huge rooms, nice decorated. Breakfast buffet with everything you could wish for. A perfect place to stay for couples without kids.

Review 3:There was bird poo around the pool area that should have been cleaned. This is an expensive hotel everything is overpriced. The hotel is quite far from the centre of Hue but they do offer a shuttle service

Review 4:The pool was huge. The breakfast was great very good selection. The room was large and the bed very comfortable All the staff were friendly and polite. The spa was fantastic had a massage and body scrub.

Review 5:There were many mosquitos one night, so had to hide in the room. Breakfast could be better at this price.

Review 6:A beautiful and relaxing 'village', it was a good break from hectic Hanoi. A large swimming pool. Not that far from Hue, and closer to the tombs. Enjoyed the stay overall.

Review 7:- Rain (was bad weather, so unfortunately we were not able to enjoy the pool and some of the facilities) - Spa (the Spa prices could be a bit more competitive)

Review 8:free upgrade to a bungalow staff (the best experience I have had with an hotel staff!! extremely friendly and willing to make our stay the best one!) facilities (this hotel is a paradise in the middle of HUE - Breakfast (by far the best breakfast I had in an hotel! everything so fresh!)

Review 9:Nothing

Review 10:Very new and well maintained property Terrific breakfast Superb spa treatments Western food and room service Feels like a retreat in the jungle, landscaping and lake view bungalow terrific Very good value by international standards

Review 11:1. We were very much looking forward to use the sauna - which is one of the reasons that we chose this hotel. We were surprised to find out that using spa facilities (including sauna) come at an extra charge per person per single use. This is very unusual for a spa resort. 2. All extras are quite expensive compared to other hotels (laundry, pickup service,...) 3. We were greeted by the resort manager who made sure to let us know that she is not vietnamese, but rather japanese. It just seemed a little weird or out of place...

Review 12:Amazing facility with great breakfast. Rooms are spacious and clean. Tai chi class in the morning, followed by yoga. Atmosphere is very zen.

Review 13:"Boutique" is misleading. Its a big commercial resort with big facilities .. and many many rooms and people. Not what we were expecting at all from the pictures.

Review 14:Staff were very sweet. Its very green, set amongst lots of trees which is nice for privacy.

Review 15:Quiet resort not too far away from the centre Great and helpful staff Received free upgrade to higher room category Facilities (especially the pool) are really awesome after a dusty day in Hue

Review 16:Location: hotel is far from city center but staff provides regularly complimentary shuttle bus to reach the city center

Review 17:Large rooms Great pool with poolbar Modern lounge bar Great breakfast quality and choice Very friendly and helpful staff

Review 18:The lighting in the room was quite dim and the heater was a bit weak in heating up the entire room.

Review 19:The superb hospitality shown by the staff, especially the assistant operations manager who made us feel like her personal friends. The facilities were great too and the lush surroundings were beautifully landscaped. Generous breakfast spread.

Review 20:Evening restaurant not great, food was OK but lacked ambiance and atmosphere. However, not a big problem as we preferred to eat in town. However if staying for more than a few nights then could become a problem.

Review 21:Great resort on the outskirts of Hue. Fantastic pool and large comfortable villas, ideal for family with kids. Excellent breakfasts included in the rate.

Review 22:Our best stay in Vietnam, the care and effort by the people is exceptional and the cooking class was fantastic (the best Pho soup, and we tried a lot!) Be forgiving of little mistakes, everybody's trying very hard. We had a few minor problems but after traveling for 2 weeks we realised that we shouldn't expect the same levels of standard and we are very demanding. The most important is that they delt with the issues and they were absolutely charming all the way.

Review 23:The weather was not great in December as it rained nearly all the time. Also the mark up on transfer and trips is very high

Review 24:The bungalows were excellent with a huge bathroom and there own balcony. The restaurant and bar are also great

Review 25:The staff here can't do enough for you. They are the most pleasant, kind hearted people you will ever meet! The operations manager and her team made me and my friend feel like royalty and the hotel and the grounds are out of this world. We can't wait to plan our next trip here

Review 26:The bike rental could be a little cheaper. The peacocks and other animals that the hotel have could be in a wider, freer space.

Review 27:The staff is fantastic! Really helpful and worried so you have the best hotel experience in your life. The swimming pool is a dream, the instalations of the spa are also excellent. The room is huge, so is the bathroom. Everything extremely clean and comfortable. Prices at the restaurant are not as cheap as in town, although fair, no ripping-off hier. Huge and delicious breakfast! All in all an unforgetable experience, defenitely to recommend!

Review 28:Cannot fault anything, perfect stay!

Review 29:Stunning resort, such a tranquil and beautiful setting. We only booked a standard room however it was so spacious, with such a large lovely bathroom. The staff are so genuinely attentive & lovely, and go above & beyond to ensure you have an amazing stay. We were met by the operations manager upon arrival who also visits the restaurant each evening to chat with guests, a lovely touch. We left very early 4.30am and we were farewelled by no less than 3 staff members, our check-out was swift and we were given a take-away breakfast box. We felt very special and relaxed during our stay and would highly recommend, would love to go back soon.

Review 30:We made a mistake in our booking which the staff promptly and most comfortingly accommodated. They even gave us a better room! We were welcomed very warmly and pampered throughout our stay. The hotel is a delight. We relaxed by the pool and enjoyed the free yoga class. Didn't get to try the restaurant bit the bfast was luxurious and delicious. The piano was relaxing. We LOVED our stay and would highly recommend this pilgrimage.

Review 31:The resort is about 30 minutes from downtown Hue and the airport. The mosquitos are bad at night, but they fog the river every Saturday and you'll be fine in the morning and daytime. The food was decent and overpriced, but still reasonable. Be sure to explore the local food stalls just outside the entry gate.

Review 32:Considered one of the best hotels in Hue by the locals, this resort is well worth the trek into the jungle to get here. The accommodations were unique, luxurious and intimate. The staff were the friendliest people on my month long trip of SE Asia and created a memorable experience getting a hello and smile from the grounds keepers, maids, chefs and receptionists everyday. The rooms are large, quiet and the resort has plenty of amenities (game/entertainment rooms, several pools, spa, cafe, restaurant, wildlife) to explore. Hue is good for a few days of exploring the markets, but if your up for a break from the chaos of Vietnam you could easily spend a week living out of a suite for less than a few hundred $.

Review 33:Upgraded to bungalow. Huge room with sleeping, living and office areas, bathroom and terrace. Lovely swimming pool. Stunning architectural layout and landscaping. Peaceful and tranquil. Brilliant staff. Very good restaurant. Spa facilities. Visible management. Great breakfasts. Free shuttle into town. Superb in every way.

Review 34:If you want to be in the heart of Hue it's not ideal. But if you are looking for a quiet peaceful stay this is the place.

Review 35:The room was excellent and the facilities available were the best I've seen in a hotel. Breakfast was delicious and had a lot of variety.

Review 36:After a long train journey we decided to have some luxury. It was wonderful. The 40 mtr. swimming pool - the wonderful bedroom suite. just perfect. BUT watch out - the location is in the outskirts of Hue and be careful when you use the free shuttle bus...that you can find the pick up place...the maps are a bit vague. Watch out for the service charges and expensive meals. Hue has so much history that is is just wonderful to visit the Citadel etc. What a history.

Review 37:I loved this hotel, a little paradise, the swimming pool is amazing I think it depends which room you get as some are better than others but this hotel was my favourite out of all the ones I stayed in in Vietnam, the staff are lovely the spa is lovely, rent a motorbike from next door and go on day trips to look at all the tombs. We were only going to stay one night and ended up staying 6 nights because the hotel was so relaxing.

Review 38:Despite being a little way out of town the free shuttle was great & they even organised a taxi service no charge when the shuttle couldn't be arranged. The restaurant here is beautiful but the food is quite overpriced compared to what you'd pay in town but hey in these surrounds kinda worthwhile

Review 39:The staff here are unbelievable warm & gracious! The grounds just gorgeous, pool area lovely & the free morning yoga over the lotus pond divine!! Beautiful place

Review 40:It is a bit out of town but plenty of taxis to take you there. The spa treatment was just ok and felt rushed.

Review 41:Great set up. Pool was fantastic. Rooms were very comfortable. Our bathroom was just ok. Breakfast was fantastic!

Review 42:NOTHING!!

Review 43:the hotel is a green oasis a bit outside of the city! it's simply beautiful with a big pool, nice and clean rooms, good food and very friendly staff. espacially miss Thi Mai is amazing!

Review 44:The only downside would be that it us located in a poor village 6 km out of town. But as they ptovide shuttle bus and taxis are super cheap, this should not really affect you.

Review 45:Wonderful setting. We stayed on a deluxe bungalow which was great. Swimming pool area very relaxing.

Review 46:a little far from the citadel but have free shuttle to and from town

Review 47:the rooms are amazing, the grounds are beautiful. realy like entering a different world. did tai chi over looking a lake. had a swim in the pool at night. gorgeous. Also staff are very helpful.

Review 48:Nothing.

Review 49:Great resort; a beautiful tranquil environment and the staff were so polite and helpful. Would highly recommend it. It is very close to a lot of the historic tombs but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre. A free shuttle bus is provided to take you in to town.

Review 50:The hotel is located a few km out of Hue city but a free shuttle bus is provided

Review 51:Beautiful complex with lovely staff and a great pool. Our bungalow was well equipped with nice toiletries etc. The food was good too; breakfasts were fresh with a wide selection of foods and we had room service one evening which was delicious too.

Review 52:Stunning garden , lush vegetation and wonderful pool to relax after a day discovering Hue and its tombs. An oasis of peace and beauty. An exquisite service!

Review 53:15% charge added onto everything Wouldn't recommend for a young travelling couple like ourselves as it is more of a retreat not a 1 night stop over

Review 54:The room and bathroom were very large and really beautifully decorated. The pool area was very tranquil and relaxing. Food was amazing

Review 55:Having to leave.

Review 56:The quality of the rooms and the resort facilities were first class. Very tranquil, relaxing atmosphere. The pool and the spa were highlights. Staff were attentative and discreet.

Review 57:We were upgraded to a honeymoon suite. It was just perfect. Miss Hai at reception was the most helpful young lady, nothing was too much trouble. That applies to the rest of the staff. Very clean rooms, breakfast selection good, the toaster needs to be attended to thought!!

Review 58:We had a great time in Hue and were so happy to stay at the Pilgrimage. It was very hot whilst we were there and to come back to our resort and dive into the pool was a godsend. Even the luxurious shampoo and conditioner made us very happy. We will definitely come back.

Review 59:We loved everything. The resort is beautiful, the room is amazing, the bathroom is great, the pool is awesome... We wish we could stay longer. It is not in the center of Hué but the resort provides a free shuttle bus to the center. We rented a motobike there and it was perfect.

Review 60:Welcoming staff. everyone was smiling and friendly. Bungalow was superb .... restaurant excellent. Staff went the extra mile to ensure our stay was exceptional. Breakfast buffet was extensive and tasty.

Review 61:I asked to be moved as I was travelling alone and my room felt a bit isolated. They did everything possible to accommodate me, I am closer to more activity & very happy. The staff r fantastic. The banana flower salad in their restaurant was heavenly. Breakfast is beautiful, lunch is beautiful, dinner is beautiful. What more can I say. I will return here 1st opportunity I get.

Review 62:The free shuttle bus to the city is not going to the interesting point or stops close to the ancient city. Therefore its better to take a cab for just around 4-5 € if you want to see old Hue!

Review 63:Wonderful like in paradise. The hotel staff is very kind helpful and always with a smile! One of the nicest and peaceful pool i saw in my life. Villa tranquil and modern functional furnished! Food in restaurant superb!

Review 64:Too much concrete used for the building making the whole hotel less at one with nature. Didn't feel like a 5 star hotel. Lots of bugs - to be expected though given the amount of fauna and water around.

Review 65:Free yoga and thaichi lessons were a nice touch. Mulitple pools is also a good feature. Big rooms. Staff were very accommadating.

Review 66:Everything about this place is great! Quiet, clean, gorgeous room! Lovely staff! Thanks to Mai so helpful and friendly! It's truely an oasis in the middle of everything!

Review 67:Nothing!! All was better than anticipated. Would stay here again. It's out of town but in a nice quiet area. And only £3.00 quid in s taxi back from the town. The town is very busy and loud so this is a great compromise. Shame the bar shuts early though - 11.00 pm :-(

Review 68:Lovely room, quiet location. All the rooms or bungalows are set in thick lush gardens. Pool was lovely and warm. Breakfast buffet had a great choice. Good in the restaurant was first class. Staff couldn't do enough for you.

Review 69:The restaurant is a bit fancy and pricey so may not be affordable for everyone.

Review 70:Great breakfast buffet and beautiful pool. Big rooms with huge bathroom. Lovely tranquil surroundings.

Review 71:Breakfast not included and was overpriced. Location a bit off, but shuttle multiple times a day available

Review 72:Pool (but at the end of the day just a pool) nice room/bathroom. Nature all around Relaxing

Review 73:We ate in the restaurant on our first night and there was a small stone in my boyfriend's dinner. The restaurant was quite nice in terms of decor but we decided against eating there again following that incident. I got lots of insect bites during my time in the resort

Review 74:Got two singlebeds combined into one duoble bed, but we booked and payed for a double bed. We got a note from the hotel that there was no more double beds, but when manager asked about our stay we told that it was a bit dissapoiting about the above. Then she tells me that I should have told her, then she could have fixed it. But when you get a note that there's no more double beds at all what options do you have? BUT the manager was very kind to us and handled the critisism very well. We will definitely be back again in november!

Review 75:Spacious rooms. Clean. The whole staff crew is very friendly and helpful. Amazing pool, and suroundings close to tombs and pagodas. Free shuttlebus.

Review 76:had to leave

Review 77:We had a wonderful time, the setting and the room are beautiful, the staff are superb, to the point when my partner had an ear infection the wonderful Mai May came to the pool area to make sure we were alright and if there was anything else they could do to help. Miwah the resorts excellent manager asked us the same question the following day so had obviously been made aware and made sure she asked if all was well (it was). The food was excellent and if eaten in the restaurant, by the pool or even in your room was the same price. We had a treatment at the spa which is clean, relaxing and a beautiful experience. I cannot recommend this resort highly enough, out of all the places we stayed in the wonderful Vietnam this was by far and away the best. We will be back

Review 78:Great service and fantastic facilities. Very attentive and friendly staff. Amazing pool. Outstanding breakfast. Great food at the restaurant and very generous portions( we only had asian food during our stay ) though there are many western dishes available. excelent rooms . Top quality shower gel and shampoo.

Review 79:They could have made it better with: Wiping and cleaning more often of the products displays at the gift shops/galleries in front of the main lobby – to make it more appealing to guests. Adding Japanese food section to the breakfast spread to make it more ‘international’.

Review 80:What I like about the Pilgrimage is: It is a beautiful and hideaway villa – with all the amenities comfortably set for travelers! It has two swimming pools, with one 40m beautiful and amazing pool! Its wellness spa is worth mentioning! Beautiful Jacuzzi and Steam area! The buffet breakfast is amazing! The staffs are polite and know your needs! The environment is a total classy hideaway feel for urbanites! Very comfy, very classy, very unique with its own touch!

Review 81:A bit far from the center but they are shops and laundry right in front of the hotel;

Review 82:The swimming pool in a beautiful surrounding, lush greenery and well kept garden. A lovely welcome and clear explanation. Staff were adorable and very helpful. Nice open foyer. The room was spacious. The

Review 83:Dropping point of shuttle bus is not on the historical side of the river (2km on foot or grab a taxi)

Review 84:Excellent facilities (2 swimming pools) Very good restaurant at reasonable prices including both Vietnamese and European food Convenient shuttle bus to reach Hue (15 min) regularly Fantastic staff, very helpful Excellent Spa with treatments offfered for a long stay (4 nights mini)

Review 85:Drinks and food very pricey for vietnam with 15% always added on top. food okay but still had bit of tummy trouble.

Review 86:Beautiful pool area and surroundings. Free room upgrade. Flowers upon arrival and bedtime stories. Amazing massage at spa! Very helpful staff. Free shuttle to town. Delicious breakfast.

Review 87:Just a minor thing to help improve, all breakfast fruit and yoghurt etc is best served cold but this was all warm, they need to either sit in buckets of ice or in an open fridge.

Review 88:Loved the design of the resort and rooms. Very generous rooms. lovely restaurant layouts.

Review 89:Wonderful premises. Just a quick 10 minutes drive from the city centre, it is worth the distance as the beautiful location and facilities over compensate it. Staff is incredibly kind and helpful, making the stay even more pleasant.

Review 90:The staff is nice but not knowledgeable in handling questions and situations that are a bit more involved than a check-in and check-out process. The staff needs more training to think on their own and not just following direction.

Review 91:The place is a bit hidden from the street and provides a high security feeling. The decor is beautiful and gives a serene feelings. Its landscape gives a park like setting. The pool is the highlight that makes the place unique compared to other hotels. The breakfast bar is excellent. At night, there's a piano bar by the pool. It's a place to escape

Review 92:We were expecting it to be a bit more of a couples retreat, but there were lots of families with young kids so it was pretty noisy and not so relaxing around the (beautiful) pool most of the day. Can't complain, but just not quite what we were expecting!

Review 93:Beautifully designed and maintained resort. Great food and service. Lovely place to just be.

Review 94:Staff were very accomodating, even let us stay on an extra 4 hours after check out until we got our train. They were very welcoming especially the manager. Also they arranged our taxi and recommended restaurants in town for evening meals. Room was spacious and lovely. Huge pool was perfect to relax and cool down. Pool bar had good choice of drinks and service. The hotel area is very tranquil and in a beautiful peaceful setting. Great if you want a rest inbetween all the travelling and sightseeing in Vietnam.

Review 95:nothing

Review 96:The best place on our tripe, a most beautiful Resort, quiet, a place to rest or to come again. We stayed longer as at first scheduled, so we got an upgrade to the honeymoon suite

Review 97:Our ground floor room was a little dark but overall we loved its spaciousness and design.

Review 98:Idyllic surroundings with lush gardens, beautiful lily ponds, tasteful low key architecture. Swimming pool is huge - the best we've encountered anywhere.

Review 99:The location is not so good for sightseeing. There is shuttle bus service and guests can go to the city by themselves. But it is out of the center of the city. Many tours do not come to pick up at the hotel.

Review 100:Atmosphere is excellent. And the staffs are very kind and professional. They helped us when we faced troubles, and as a result we solved the problems and enjoyed the stay at Hue. The guest relation manager is excellent.

Review 101:Location is a bit out of the way. Need a taxi or free shuttle bus to get into Hue. Like all hotel restaurants the prices are way higher than eating in a local restaurant and so next time we would book a hotel nearer to the centre of Hue as there are loads of great restuarants and things to see in the evening.

Review 102:Beautiful grounds Staff superb

Review 103:Quality of the breakfast was okay, location is far away but also very quiet from busy city centre

Review 104:Hotel offers a bus shuttle to city centre, friendly staff

Review 105:The loud music playing on the day we arrived it was very out of place. Shuttle bus drop off too far out of town.

Review 106:Bed, room, the quiet, facilities, friendly staff, attention to detail

Review 107:The prices for drinks and food at the resort were exorbitanr, but there is a mini mart just across the road where you can buy cheap snacks and drinks. Also tours and tranfers were far more expensive than other available options.

Review 108:We were upgraded to the honeymoon suite which was fantastic. The room was large and luxurious, and the bathroom was heavenly with amazing products supplied. We had a large private verandah looking out to secluded greenery and wetland. The hotel pool is massive and set in beautiful surrounds. Although this property is a few kms out of town, it is well serviced by a free shutlebus or a cheap taxi fare. It's location away from the frantic traffic of Hue make it a perfect piece of paradise.

Review 109:It was amazing stay! Such a beautiful hotel. Great people working there. Your bathroom will look like a SPA! And the actual SPA in the hotel is wonderful. The hotel is so quiet, relaxing, green full of flowers and butterflies. We loved swimming pool there, I think might be best pool in Vietnam))) Every day we were getting a new scroll with story before bed. It was so cute! I've never seen anything like that in a hotel. I would love to come back there again.

Review 110:The rooms need renovation. The bathroom is large but looks like a bathroom from the 70s. Food at the restaurant is good but expensive.

Review 111:The spa is great. Staff is very helpfull efficient and friendly. Breakfast was good I do not agree with the automatic score calculated by booking.com. They deserve 8.5

Review 112:Mosquitoes, intrusive staff and a little false All seemed a little too contrived Although the food was good it was very expensive

Review 113:Great bed, good pool.

Review 114:Breakfast wasnt great for the cost of it, I'd advise getting a room without breakfast and going out into the city for breakfast!

Review 115:The pool was so lovely, rooms were gorgeous, clean, comfortable and spacious. Staff were so friendly and the rooms are pretty affordable too considering how nice this place is! Would definitely recommend it!

Review 116:The staff was very friendly and helpful! The resort is very nice, clean, and has great food on site! It was a very relaxing time with an amazing pool and great spa! Must stay here when in Hue to get away from the busy city.

Review 117:Wifi not working very well, Little bit long to serve at the restaurant (but that are very responsive if you Tell them that you have to go fast for any reason)

Review 118:Very nice place to rest and enjoy the swimming pool and all the activities at the hotel. A little bit far of the inner city but there are shuttle buses all day long (not a lot to go back, especially by night... The last one is at 9:30pm). Everything at the hotel is very nice : the accommodation, the swimming pool (perfect température), the spa (a little bit expensive), the restaurant (more expensive than the other restaurants in Vietnam, for sure - around 600 or 700 000 dông for 2 -, but really good - I advice you to test the bun bo hué or the Pho ko pilgrimage... Even the desserts are good)...

Review 119:Huge luxury pool, spacey nicely designed rooms in lush garden, very friendly and helping staff, free shuttle bus to the town. Ideal place to rest from town heat and dust

Review 120:- Long walking distances between reception, rooms, pool, breakfast area - Hotel is far away from Hue center (+/-15 min by taxi) - Would not recommend restaurant on resort for diner (quality of food was poor and service was very slow)

Review 121:- nice and spacious rooms with good bed and bath room facilities - good breakfast buffet

Review 122:Unbelievable experience. Planned one night, stayt four in total. Such nice and friendly people. Really best resort experience. Free upgrade, free Spa experience. This place makes it worth living.

Review 123:Being located in a rather secluded area meant that we had most meals at the resort which can add up in the final bill.

Review 124:The large, outdoor pool with warm water, perfect for night swimming. The spacious bedroom and bathroom with strong WiFi. Room service and restaurant offerings with great presentation. That and the spa made us feel very at home and comfortable. Free transport to downtown Hue.

Review 125:This hotel has impeccable service. All staff were extremely warm and welcoming, always greeting my friend and I with a smile no matter time of the day. The room is so spacious (I even did my own yoga in the room), there is a huge balcony, the beds were big and comfortable and the bathroom was huge and clean. They come in to clean our room every day (sometimes even twice a day when we're in and out to the spa/pool) and ensure it is tidy and clean. They also delivered secret messages in the form of a scroll and placed it on our beds every evening - each message tells of a legend that represents the Vietnamese culture. It was very interesting and we'd love sitting in the balcony reading the messages. The spa is excellent - we both did a full body treatment + body scrub and a foot acupuncture. As my leg was injured from taking a bad fall a week earlier, the therapist paid special attention to my wound and did an amazing job. The free jacuzzi and sauna that came with the spa treatment was very enjoyable too. And the wifi!!! Most hotels have wifi for all guests but this! They have wifi just for two rooms. So every two rooms get their own wifi - it is extremely fast and reliable. Overall I had a great 3 day stay with Pilgrimage and I will not hesitate to recommend anyone to come here. I mgiht even come back here again someday on my own just to get away from the buzz of my own city.

Review 126:One of our favorite hotels on our trip. Amazing room, great breakfast and amazing staff. We will definitely be staying here again. It is a little ways from town which was fine for us, just FYI
