Reviews for My Island Inn
Review 1:Only regret was that we had only two days at this lovely place - will plan better next trip! We had brought plenty of "layers" (warm clothing) so were comfortable--folks not used to staying in a rain forest might not be prepared for cool and possibly damp environs - something that made us feel "at home", as we are from Pacific Northwest.
Review 2:Location Location Location! Perfect base for daytrips in Volcano area, and Hilo, etc. Amazing gardens surround the Inn - spectacular flowers, foliage, birdsong. Friendly hosts; very sweet suite.
Review 3:The area is a little lacking for food choices. There is a Thai restaurant and a few more diners that don't seem to be prepared for travelers.
Review 4:It felt like home to us. Byron and Ki'i were great at giving information as to where to go and how to get there. After 30 years on the island they had a pretty good idea! The grounds are beautiful and well kept and so are the rooms.
Review 5:I have some environmental allergies which did bother me a bit during our stay.
Review 6:Lovely rainforest setting. Interesting and friendly hosts. Provided flashlights and umbrellas for use when visiting Volcanoes Natl park at night.
Review 7:No bathroom amenities are provided except for hand soap. There are no meals being served in this property. Insulation is poor but this inn is a perfectly good option for one or two night stay.
Review 8:We arrived late at the inn but we had already the code to get into our room (which was sent to us previously by email) and there was a binder with all the necessary information about local dining options (with respective menus), wifi password, etc. The rooms have fridge stocked with water, coffee maker and heater (which is essential in that climate). Slippers and socks are provided, as well as umbrellas (you will need them). The owners live just next door, in the main house and are very friendly and helpful. It's important to pay attention to the map since it's easy to miss the dirt road leading to the inn.
Review 9:There is a shared balcony so no privacy in the room we stayed (Yellow). There was a group of three Europeans in the next room, and while they were lovely people they sat on the balcony until 1:00 in the morning and talked and laughed. It felt like they were right in the room with us. There is also no breakfast.
Review 10:The location was good for visiting Volcano Natl Park. The room was spacious and clean.
Review 11:Kitchen supplies were a bit limited (microwave, few mugs and glasses, cuttinboard and some 2 forks and 2 knives). It works just fine, but don't expect a fully equiped kitchen. The good thing is, no need to do any dishwashing, the hosts do this in a building nearby.
Review 12:Very friendly host with lots of suggestions. They even allowed us to borrow some hiking poles and umbrellas. Beautifull and quiet garden to have breakfast in, very nice shower, perfectly located (only few minutes to drive to the national park) fast and stable wifi.
Review 13:nothing. nothing. nothing.
Review 14:We really enjoyed our stay at this amazing place, a paradise in the most beautiful rainforest. Can't wait to come back.
Review 15:The size of the room was very small, and the noise from the neighbors was loud. No breakfast.
Review 16:The property was beautiful. Internet was fast.
Review 17:Beautiful gardens, friendly staff, close to Volcano Park. Very relaxing atmosphere.
Review 18:None
Review 19:Beautiful surroundings
