Reviews for Hotel Icona
Review 1:Checked in went to our room on the fifth floor and our keys did not work (had two rooms). Had to go back down to the front desk. Other then that our stay was great.
Review 2:Complimentary breakfast. Cleanliness of room. Only
Review 3:My daughter & I had an awesome stay at Icona & consider it our new favorite place to stay at the Jersey Shore!
Review 4:Gorgeous oceanfront setting, spotlessly clean, very friendly & accomodating staff, perfect location & close to Cape May for shopping & dining yet also close to boardwalk if you want amusement rides & great pizza!
Review 5:We did get complimentary continental coupons for breakfast each day we were there which was appreciated but they only offered Coffee/Tea and toast which was blahhh. We aren't coffee and tea people. We ordered something else from the menu and they took 7 bucks off each meal which was greatly appreciated. We continued to make our own breakfast for the remainder of our stay. Maybe they could throw in some eggs and sausage!
Review 6:My Fiance and I loved everything. We had R & R just like we wanted. It was our birthday weekend. The weather was gorgeous (60's) for December in NJ. Got to see the beautiful sunrise and sunset over the beach which was breathtaking. Staff was very friendly. Can't wait to go back!
Review 7:Two things ...restaurant had a pathetic dinner menu. Very disappointing....virtually no sea-food offered. The so-called continental breakfast was pathetic to say the least....we were given a voucher for breakfast & all we could get for the voucher was one tiny little muffin. Ridiculous to say the least. We had to go to a restaurant in town thereafter to get a proper meal.
Review 8:We couldn't believe our eyes when we walked in and saw the really cool kitchenette. We also enjoyed our living room and the small terrace with a view of the ocean. We had a very nice breakfast in the restaurant and the beds were quite comfortable as well.
Review 9:Bathroom was a little small but worked for us!
Review 10:The separation of bedroom and main area was fabulous. Kitchen was very accommodating. The view and balcony were beautiful. It was quiet as well. Stunning!!!!!
Review 11:Restaurant was a little pricey.
Review 12:Comfortable and very clean. Definately would recommend Hotel Icona to family and friends. Also received a bottle of champagne when we got back to our room the first night as we were celebrating our anniversary and thought it was a very nice gesture.
Review 13:We had a wedding in Cape May but didn't want to stay there - the hotels are dated and cramped and expensive even off season. For the same price as a tiny room in CM, we got a beautiful suite with an ocean view! The room was immaculate, bright, modern and airy. We will definitely go back.
Review 14:Nothing!
Review 15:Great location right by the beach. Nice, clean and spacious room with sea view balcony and well-equipped kitchen. Stylish decor with a fresh maritime feel. Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere.
Review 16:Light switches seemed to be a problem to find in the dark. My husband and I stayed here the night we got married. We were given an extended check out at 12pm the next day. When we were checking out, the female at the front desk had told us because it had been our wedding night, we could have stayed in the room longer. We were not told that, however, the night before.
Review 17:Room was nice, bed was very comfortable
Review 18:The luxury of the hotel and rooms. The friendliness, efficiency, professionalism and patience of the staff. Loved that each room had a balcony with a view of the ocean. The kitchen facilities excellent, clean. Elegant and smart. Bed comfort one of the best ever. Loved that the beach was right in front of the hotel and that there was a restuarant in the hotel.
Review 19:The only suggestion I would make is to consider other music options in the lobby area. The theme is a bit much.
Review 20:The staff could not have been more helpful or pleasant. All of our requests were taken care of efficiently. The suites were beautifully decorated and spacious. We also enjoyed the hotel restaurant, the food and service were superb.
Review 21:No bad experience at all. Except a 3 dollar sprite soda at the front desk.
Review 22:I loved everything about everything. The drive was worth it. I will DEFINITELY be back.
Review 23:The only thing I didn't like was that I couldn't stay longer!!!!!
Review 24:There is "nothing" I didn't like about this Hotel. From the genuinely friendly and gracious staff to the beautiful room (all rooms are suites) that was clean, clean CLEAN-- equipped with luxury linens, comfy beds, and upscale amenities - what more could you ask for?. It feels like "home" but only with a magnificent ocean view!
Review 25:Hotel Icona is a little gem! The location and look of this hotel is very clean, modern and nice, but it is the awesome and helpful staff that really goes out of their way to help you that truly stands out! I asked the housekeeper Liz a simple question in the hallway about how far the boardwalk was, and she went out of her way to deliver a map to our room! We ate at the restaurant twice and thought the food was superb. Our server, Yulliyah, was one of the most pleasant and professional people we've come across ! They did replace the mattresses-- extremely comfortable and top notch! Even though it was cold and windy on the beach, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Icona. Can't wait to go back during the heart of summer.
Review 26:The beach umbrella rental staff (3 guys) made us wait while they chatted with each other. The umbrellas were too small. Checkout was a little early at 10 a.m. (It was the end of September).
Review 27:Location - beach and pool were great. The room was nice with a good ocean view.
Review 28:Bathroom was very small and the AC/Heat control takes an Engineering degree to operate.
Review 29:Friendly, helpful staff. Great location. Had breakfast in hotel restaurant and it was very good.
Review 30:Did not like the airvr
Review 31:Excellent quiet location on beautiful beach, nice room, with modern design,,beautiful relaxing colors on wall! Bedroom with comfortable beds all white linens clean looking and modern Couch matress not good at all very uncomfortable, overall very functional kitchenette, sink dishwasher Keith coffee maker with pods and sugar, Cooktop with 2 burners ,pots dishes cups etc, pretty well stocked?
Review 32:No bad experience
Review 33:The hotel was worth the price. The staff was so friendly. By the end if the trip, they knew us do well that we received a warm greeting daily. The room was so clean, the bed was so comfortable, we never wanted to get out of bed. The food in the restaurant was so delicious. Normally I go not like to eat in hotel restaurants, but this one was the exception. We loved everything about this hotel and we would definitely return.
Review 34:Room was very, very small. I don't like being on the first floor, there wasn't any linen on the pull out couch, just a mattress cover that did not fit. No smoking on the terraces. We were told we would receive a call when the room was ready. Never received a call we had to go back to the desk at 3:30. There response was "did you get a call." Highly overpriced...
Review 35:The closeness to the beach.
Review 36:We loved the beach bar and the beach service where drinks and food was brought to us. Very relaxing. The staff was extremely polite, the room was comfortable and new
Review 37:This hotel is pretty far from the boardwalk. There are only 2 elevators (one on each side of the very long building) and 5 floors so sometimes it was a long wait. You have to pay to rent beach chairs/umbrellas.
Review 38:Staff was so friendly and helpful it was almost overkill but can't complain about that! Great food, nice rooms, one of the few upscale hotels in the area. Loved having drinks with my husband at the outdoor beach bar while the kids roasted smores in the fire pit next to us. This hotel manages to be both adult trendy and family friendly.
Review 39:No ice bucket in the room. Bathroom very small. Maid service only fair--left dirty cups on the sink counter and no vacuuming. Could not check in before 3 PM and check out was at 10 AM--you paid a premium price for 19 hrs instead of 24 hours.
Review 40:Very pretty designer suite with an ocean view from the bedroom balcony. Outdoor bar on the ocean front was very nice and they had live music. Easy access to the beach.
Review 41:Suite for $400 plus a night was TINY, only 2 outlets in the entire suite worked
Review 42:The beach was amazing! Beach bar was very nice and lots of fun to hang out at
Review 43:I wish that there had been a toaster oven in the kitchenette but otherwise I have no complaints
Review 44:The rooms were very nicely renovated efficiencies. Everything was clean and the staff was so friendly and helpful. The private beach was gorgeous!
Review 45:Readily available transportation to the boardwalk would have helped. Taxis were a 30 min wait. Tables were empty outside for dinner, but when asked we were told they were not available. So then don't ask.
Review 46:Nice room, for the price we were upgraded because of cancellations. Staff was friendly and helpful. Beautiful view and great location away from the boardwalk.
Review 47:Extremely small bathroom. Photos online make the room appear larger than it was. Loud AC exhaust fan made sitting on the balcony impossible, it also blew hot air. SeaPointe Village next door offered more for your money, much larger rooms & balcony & kitchen & more pools. Found Icona EXTREMELY overpriced for what you got. Was quite disappointed especially since this was our wedding anniversary vacation.
Review 48:Bed extremely comfortable. Staff on the beach were attentive.
Review 49:Can't think of a thing. My friend didn't think sofa bed was that comfortable but I don't know one that is comfortable.
Review 50:The staff greet everyone with kindness. No request is denied. Very clean and modern looking facilities.
Review 51:The AC vent on the balcony made it difficult to enjoy the view. It was very loud and
Review 52:Rooms were clean and the staff were great. The beach bar was fun.
Review 53:Definitely over priced for the room/comfort we received, I was disappointed in the size expected a bit more privacy, larger room and definitely didn't like the bathroom being in with the bedroom, if someone was sleeping in one of the two bedrooms you couldn't help waking them up -:(
Review 54:Location, clean, friendly staff.
Review 55:The wifi connection was not good. The pool was not always open at 10am.
Review 56:The staff was wonderful. I liked that we were able to arrive early and use the pool, beach, etc. I loved the Beach Bar although I wish there was more music and that they could play past 9pm.
Review 57:Most of the area is crowded as with most Jersey Shore locations.
Review 58:Beautiful views of the ocean from room balconies. Clean facility and beaches. I recommend this hotel if you are planning time in Wild Wood or Cape May.
Review 59:Restaurant was not family friendly due to very limited menu and high price point. Did not have one meal there.
Review 60:The location, view and staff as well as the condition of the beach and pool facilities were top notch.
Review 61:wifi was spotty and slow
Review 62:renovated property throughout was spotless and beautifully done. new beach bar on gorgeous beach with comfortable couches and fire pit. clean, private beach was beautiful. very friendly, helpful staff
Review 63:Nothing
Review 64:The cleanliness was superb and the staff very attentive I felt very comfortable. The beach bar was a really nice touch for a late nite drink and relax on the beach
Review 65:would have liked a higher floor since I was on the pool side of the hotel so my balcony was up close and personal with pool goers
Review 66:it was a beautfully renovated hotel Super comfortable beds Private parking Spacious suite Private balcony Huge pool with comfy chairs Beach chairs available Clean private beach Away from the noise of the boardwalk and wildwood proper.
Review 67:The room was very clean and everything seemed to be new or recently remodeled. The staff was very friendly and professional. Never had to wait, plenty of staff in the lobby and plenty of waitresses by the pool.
Review 68:A continuously running fan/ac system made the living area noisy, and since it vented hot air onto the balcony, the balcony was unusable. I heard three separate times that I booked through booking.com, which seemed to mean I was a less valued customer.
Review 69:I liked the location, the beach and the suite itself. The suite setup is great and the kitchenette was great. The suite was clean.
Review 70:- Far from the boardwalk and trolley wasn't running for the season yet.
Review 71:- Hotel had a South Beach decor with a family oriented tilt. - Very clean, beautifully renovated, with courteous, amenable staff - In-house restaurant was great
Review 72:We did not like the restaurant...they need a new menu with more sandwich options at dinner! Also, it's a very weird lunch menu!
Review 73:The location was perfect!
Review 74:the ONLY thing we were disappointed in was that there was no toaster in the kitchen. But it had everything else you would need
Review 75:This was our 1st time staying in Wildwood and we loved it. The hotel was perfect. Everyone was helpful and you received a smile from every staff person. They couldn't have been nicer.
Review 76:The hotel was very clean and neat. The staff was courteous and pleasant. The had valet car service which you do not find at most shore hotels. The rooms were modern and clean
Review 77:I wouldn't hesitate to book a stay here again. ALL of the staff were super-friendly, the rooms were nicely decorated and well-maintained, and the beach is superb!
Review 78:The Icon staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant had great food and great service. The rooms were nicely done, and clean. All balconies have a view of the ocean. The pool area was terrific, the wait staff was great. It's located on a private beach that was clean with attentive staff helping to set up umbrellas and chairs.
Review 79:During happy hour at the hotels restaurant one of the bar tenders had no idea what they were doing and it took forever to get drinks. During check out we waited 30 minutes because the staff left the desk unattended.
Review 80:The entire hotel was beautiful and the rooms were nice. Great location.
Review 81:Hotel Icona is impeccable!! Staff is friendly, courteous, and professional. The room was modern and sleek in design. Bedding and pillows were luxurious. A+ all the way.
Review 82:I wish it were more affordable to bring my family back for a week'svacation. :(
Review 83:Everything was lovely. From the helpful gentleman who answered ourquestions about parking to the friendly ladies who helped us check inand out, to say I was "pleased" is a major understatement.I have to give Sherri a shout out and thank her for helping me set up a sweet welcome surprise for my husband on his birthday. I can't wait for him to work with her to set up a surprise for me! lol Thanks for checking on us throughout our stay. One of the biggest perks was really just how KIND and happy everyone was at Icona. This really makes a huge difference when we travel. Why would anyone want to be on vacation surrounded by miserable people? And, unfortunately, that's usually the case. But, not at the Icona. Everyone seemed genuinely happy and cheerful whether they were helping you or just walking by you in the halls. I do have to say the biggest perk of all was the cleanliness. I am a clean freak and a neat freak so the fact I was able to enjoy my entire stay without worrying for a second if things were clean was a vacation in and of itself! I can't help but inspect everything from the silverware to the rim of the mattress, and I always end up re-cleaning something upon check-in, but I didn't have to do anything at this place. We have two little ones that we left at home for our getaway, but I would bring them back for a vacation here in a heartbeat mainly because of how clean it was. And, back to my original point, I've never met more personable and sweet housekeepers. Always smiling. The beachy calm and classy vibe of the environment, the people, the amazing food (breakfast was to die for), and drinks by the heated pool??! I know it sounds silly, but I really felt like we were back on a resort in Mexico! Great job, Icona. We hope to see you again soon!
Review 84:We booked the standard double suite. The bathroom located inside of the bedroom. The people lived in the living room need to walk into the bedroom to access the bathroom. The beach chair and umbrella are not free.
Review 85:The staff is very helpful. I asked for a late check out because we arrived late. We wanted to spend more time and enjoy the facility a little longer. The staffs are very friendly.
Review 86:Liked it all.
Review 87:The Icona is an exceptional place with great and friendly service. Wonderful location right on the beach and very close to Cape May. The hotel is clean and sleek with a great mid-century vibe that reflects well the Wildwood vibe. Our room was well designed and very comfortable with a remarkable patio and view to the ocean. The kitchen was well equipped for making everything from a tropical cocktail to a full breakfast. We chose to have breakfast in the restaurant and our food was delicious. Everyone at Icona seemed very happy to see us and service was consistently friendly and helpful. Can't wait to return!
Review 88:The hallway of the floors smelled bad. Air freshners in the hallway of the floors would be nice.
Review 89:The place was very nice, clean, welcoming. Perfect location as well.
Review 90:Music in dining room seemed to overpower conversation at times. Wish it weren't raining so we could walk the private beach more:) Never got to try the exercise equipment.
Review 91:Staff always available and helpful....Pleasant. Beds like sleeping on a cloud. Incredible tasting, freshly prepared food. Room had everything we needed for work during the day and the flexibility to relax at night. Having a two room suite, ie. bed/bath and kitchen/living made it possible for one of us to nap or read while the other worked on drawings on the computer and made phone calls. This location is close to multiple restaurants and not far from two light houses and the ferry.
Review 92:The location is ideal in the Cape May area. The hotel lobby and rooms have a pleasant decor, very clean. The hotel staff is efficient, friendly and places the customer first. All of my expectations were exceeded!
Review 93:No complaints whatsoever.
Review 94:The attached restaurant (Costal Blue) was very nice with a comfortable, modern feel. Great food and even better staff. Both the hotel and restaurant staff were very accommodating and super nice. Can't beat the location either.
Review 95:the only thing bad I can think of is, I did not see a toaster, and maybe some more dishware. this, though, is really nothing at all
Review 96:the staff was so wonderful and a pleasure to deal with. the room was very beautiful and we are already talking about going back and getting the same room. Room#228.
Review 97:Depending on the time of year once the restaurant has closed there are very few options for food.
Review 98:So much to like about this new addition to the nj shore. The staff the rooms are huge modern, full kitchen balconies huge bathrooms. Love this place. the restaurant is wonderful the staff with Patrice at the helm is top notch. Not a bad thing that I can find.
Review 99:We had no balcony and not really an ocean view. You have to go up a few stairs with your luggage to get into the lobby. The dining room is very small. Reservations are a must.
Review 100:All rooms are large and you do not feel like you are in a hotel room. The food is excellent. Kitchen is small but has all the amenities, small microwave, etc.
Review 101:I am a travel agent and I came down for a business meeting. Also to check out some properties to refer to my clients. I think the property was very nice and the rooms were nice and clean also. I would refer my clients in the future to this facility. Thanks
Review 102:The double beds were a bit disappointing to us. We hope that this is remedied when we come down next spring.
Review 103:After our initial trip in Sept. we decided to come back and bring the family with us. It was a good idea. The grnadkids loved it, especially the heated pool and walking on the beach. AND the balcony outside our room as well. Plenty of linens and bath supplies for all. We had breakfast in the Coastal Blue restaurant and we all enjoyed our meal. All in all, a pleasant way to take advantage of the fall holiday. Less crowds and a quiet time at the shore.
Review 104:Noisy air conditioner. I slept much better when I turned it off and opened the balcony door.
Review 105:Very attractive, comfortable room, lots of space, ocean view, great decor.
Review 106:The bed hurt my back, it was so hard that I woke up numb on the side that I was sleeping. The restaurant was lovely for breakfast but left a lot to be desired for dinner... My food was fair and I suppose my server was new because he couldn't answer any of my questions, didn't know about specials, menu etc. and then he ignored us the rest of the evening. The hostess took care of us then comped our bill which was nice.
Review 107:I booked for 80 a night... They upgraded me to a suite. It was lovely! The ocean and pool were wonderful and everyone was very kind!
Review 108:Bathroom was small.
Review 109:Loved the location and the intimacy of the hotel. Great beach, pool and dining facilities. Well above average meals and service. Convenient parking. Great access to Cape May and the Wildwoods.
Review 110:The one negative we can say is that my husband found the mattress to be a bit stiff and rather lumpy Other than that, it was a perfect experience.
Review 111:We loved the location, looking for and finding a more relaxed atmosphere in Diamond Beach than up by the boardwalk. Our room with the balcony was great as was the fully equipped kitchen. We thouroughly enjoyed our free breakfast and took the opportunity to explore the grounds of the hotel. Top notch all the way. We found all the decor very pleasing to the eye and every staff member with inter acted with was pleasant, helpful and well informed..I have already spread the good word to friends on facebook and we do plan to visit again when you open for the spring.
Review 112:It is just an old motel made over. Our bed was unbelievably uncomfortable and squeaked with every minor movement. The bathroom was so small and the counter so small it was barely enough room for one person. The restaurant food was just OK. We were served rolls before dinner that were burned to a crisp, like a couple of rocks. You could drive a nail with them. How could a "critically acclaimed" restaurant serve that to anyone? Nice remodeled motel but certainly not what most would consider a luxury hotel.
Review 113:It was very tastefully furnished, very clean, great location and the staff was super helpful and accommodating.
Review 114:1. There was no any space to dry swimming suites. 2. Kitchen table was too small even for 2 people. 3. No computer desk was available. 4. Conditioner airflow was directed straight on the bed. 5. Big gap below the entry door. 6. A tour bus often stayed with a working engine near our window.
Review 115:1. Kitchen 2. Location is excellent, near the beach and in the quietest part of Wildwood. 3. Room is clean and spacious with comfortable furniture 4. Excellent swimming pool. 5. Saficient parking space
Review 116:I smoke, was told at last stay ok to smoke on balcony.the rules changed now you must go down stairs go outside and stand in a certain area outside. I don't smoke in my home why would I smoke in yours. Also firemen convention drunking firemen making noise til 4am.fri.&sat nite.tour bus sun.nite 11pm engine running backup warning beeping for 1/2 hr.
Review 117:almost everything
Review 118:The check out time is way too early. 10 am is not reasonable considering it took a while for breakfast to be served. 11 or 1 pm check out would have made it perfect. I felt rushed.
Review 119:I appreciate you guys making the little things like coffee, ddishwasher soap included in the room. I didn't feel nickel and domed like other hotels. This means a lot especially for those w kids
Review 120:Check out at 10am and they hold you to that. Housecleaning knocked on the door at 10:01. Told them I had a late check out till 10:30. Someone else knocked on the door @ 10:10. So they didn't communicate to each other. If you ask for a late check out they can at least give you 11am.
Review 121:Room - perfect. Except we could not get network station channel 10. We called to the desk and they sounded like it was not big deal (which for most in our room it wasn't a big deal) but we were traveling with an elderly person and for them it was a big deal. The desk said someone would come up to check but they never did. We didn't persue it, just tried to distract Mom! House cleaning very good as well as all services clouding beach service as well as pool. Pool service was better than restaurant service! We would definitely go back to hotel icona. The rooms are very nice with great view.
Review 122:Front desk forgeting to call me when my room was ready; waiting til 3:30 pm to get my room; slow elevator service; house cleaning working in the corridor restricting access to the elevator. Food quality was below average . especially for the price. But willing to try again.
Review 123:Cleanliness of the facility; friendliness of the staff; room decor; location.
Review 124:I found the rooms to be too small. They looked bigger to me online. Also there is not enough public changing space by the pool and no place to leave your luggage.
Review 125:I loved having a ground floor room so that I could just step outside onto the terrace and call my children in from the pool. I liked the proximity to the beach and how accommodating and knowledgeable the front desk staff was about everything in the area.
Review 126:Coastal blue has great food but the service was not too great. I think more staff is needed to accommodate the amount of people dining there.
Review 127:The rooms with full kitchen is great if you're traveling with little ones like is. We only are out once or twice
Review 128:beds a bit squeaky no control at pool, families save seats and nowhere to sit, should be better policed
Review 129:Rooms wonderfully clean Staff responsive Restaurant very good Debbie with pool service is a winner
Review 130:Breakfast arrangements were not up to par while we were there. Had to wait for over 30 minutes for breakfast (bacon and eggs) which I think is very unusual in a classy place like this. It is not big but annoying all the same.
Review 131:Obviously necently renovated, thus clean and modern. The beach was excellent and the hotel pool was a success with the younger children. Staff and management seem to be service oriented but were still working on some organisational issues while we were there.
Review 132:WOW! Such a great little hotel! The room was spotless!! The bedding and towels are great! The bed mattress was good and firm! The rooms are super quiet!
Review 133:$500.00 a night for a room that is nothing special and sub-standard to my way of thinking. Supposed to sleep up to six and has dinnerware for only four. Extremely small; bathroom has no place to put personal items; pull out couch was un-sleepable with the springs just about poking through. Restaurant has very limited menu, staff is extremely slow and unfriendly. Beautiful balcony view was of the dumpster area. Had booked four nights, packed up and left after first night and went to a motel we had previously stayed at. I thought I was getting a fabulous hotel; I have never been so disappointed.
Review 134:The size of the bathroom was a bit small for us, but overall, it was clean and well stocked with towels and washcloths.
Review 135:Staff was extremely courteous and helpful. I would absolutely stay there again, if we were to visit Diamond Beach again. Loved the balcony and the beach. Very nice trip, overall.
