Reviews for Stockmens Hotel & Casino

Review 1:Remodeled rooms were very nice and comfortable. Enjoyed our stay very much. The casino was clean and staff were very pleasant. Thank you for the great stay.

Review 2:The beds were comfy but i woke a bit stiff each day. But not a terrible downfall.

Review 3:The hotel was clean! Our room was very roomy, not cramped at all. The staff was nice and courteous! The hotel has been recently renovated and is in great condition! :)

Review 4:Everything was great

Review 5:I like the room renovations. I've stayed in many Hotels in Elko and I will not stay anywhere else, for pleasure or for business.

Review 6:Didn't have our reservation on file. Loud construction noise from within the building at 8 a.m.

Review 7:Still honored our low fare even without the reservation in their system

Review 8:Brittany at the front desk took way too long to check us in. This is the second time we have stayed when she has checked us in. Slow both times. There was nobody front us.

Review 9:good location.

Review 10:The mattress was like a half blown up LILO and the carpet disgusting.

Review 11:This is a stopping off place to Utah and really the accommodation is of secondary importance to the owners, they are casino orientated. All staff were friendly and polite.

Review 12:On arrival I was told that only smoking rooms are available for the advertised price, but that I can get a non smoking room for +35$. I believe that it was a trick how to get people in their establishment.

Review 13:Love the downtown old Elko feel and location. Love staying at a hotel, walk down stairs for breakfast in the morning. Ask for a remodeled room, even the smaller are good. The suites are fantastic. The old rooms are funky.

Review 14:The old room was dirty and the air conditioner did not work very well at all. The bathroom had mold in it.

Review 15:The staff was very helpful and very friendly.

Review 16:The management in the casino was very rude to my friends and they were very under staffed and the dining was understaffed as well, had to Waite 1 hour for food. The front desk tried to give us a room that was not remodeled and that was dirty and the beds had springs coming out of them. After fighting with them about the rooms the manager finally have us a remodeled one.

Review 17:That is was across the street from the vendors

Review 18:the air conditioner seemed to have a mind of it's own. also, the service in the restaurant downstairs was a little sketchy at times

Review 19:The bed was bigger then expected & very comfortable, the hotle was also centrally located to everything we needed

Review 20:Tv stations there were 4 of each channel. Not enough electrical plugs in room. Lighting was not correct.

Review 21:We had a great stay for 5 days moved to updated room.

Review 22:The staff weren't friendly, the lobby is in a casino so full of cigarette smoke and didn't feel safe, room was disgusting and the bed was so uncomfortable I almost went and slept in the car. The shower varied from cold to scalding hot, it left marks on my stomach. Terrible experience!

Review 23:Nothing, it was a horrible experience

Review 24:We booked this hotel after seeing the pictures and reviews. The room we got was not was advertised. We got stuck in a very old room with stained carpets awful beds. We were very disappointed in the accommodations. The tv wasn't what the brochure showed and in get was not the room we expected

Review 25:First visit was great, stayed in refurbished room. Second visit...eh, not so much. Bathroom was dirty, no coffee maker, old frig, no clock or clock radio. Yuckie

Review 26:Only staying one night.

Review 27:I had to cancel one day. Was a little hard but after I got on the phone, the operator friendly and helpful.

Review 28:Staff very friendly, got an upgrade plus a AAA discount, room spacious, clean, and room had TV, small refrig and microwave. Great for our traveling to Blackfoot Idaho.

Review 29:New side: Front desk did not remove auto wake-up call from prior guest. "Mistakenly" got wake up call at 5:00am. No non-skid rug in shower. My 90 year old mother almost slipped getting in shower! Old side: No coffee pot, single king room dirty and moved to double queen in old side. Second room acceptable but no coffee pot, micro, etc. Shower faucet dripped all night (unable to turn off)

Review 30:3 people, 2 rooms New side: Large, comfortable, newer beds and multiple smaller sleeping pillows. Fridge, microwave, hair dryer & coffee pot in room. Old side: Approximately $15 less expensive than new side.

Review 31:It was filthy, uncomfortable, old and shabby. The room was an out side room and very cold. The carpet was so bad I would not take off my shoes and socks. The toilet sounded like the pipes were breaking and had no toilet lid. The bathroom was old and dirty (and felt like the room was slanting). Old TV and phone and the beds were broke down and old. Would not recommend this to anyone.

Review 32:Close to the Star, which was a great place to eat.

Review 33:The only info about the hotel in the room was a tent card advertising a $5 breakfast burrito and coffee and giving the hours of the coffee shop. upon arriving at the coffee shop I was told that the burrito was available only when the coffee shop was CLOSED. WiFi did not work at all during our stay. We had to use hotspot from cell phone. Staff was argumentative and rude.

Review 34:The room size was awesome but the entrance to the hotel didn't have automatic doors so you had to hold the door open while dragging suitcases

Review 35:Bed was uncomfortable, shower sucked, tiny old tv, heater was so loud I couldn't sleep, it sounded like bowling balls and car parts bouncing around inside of it.

Review 36:Nothing was liked at all

Review 37:The front desk gal said "I don't know what to charge you because booking charged yo the wrong price. The checkout girl was better and we send d up paying the price we booked it for

Review 38:This was the oldest, dirtiest and scariest motel I have ever stayed in. I travel often for business and pleasure and this was by far the worst!

Review 39:Leaving

Review 40:Carpet. Noisy heater.

Review 41:I like having a drink in the bar and breakfast in the restaurant. If you just want a bed for the night you can't beat the price.

Review 42:Heater did not work, shower was not hot and would fluctuate. Pillows were awful, bed was not made properly, and was very uncomfortable. Had to listen to constand banging of next doors tenants, no one from the hotel came to see what was going on. Key stopped working had to get it checked at the front desk.

Review 43:Location was close to DT area.

Review 44:1950 room style. Hard bed. Old tv. room was cold when we arrived. Heating unit in room was noisey and woke us when it turned on. Billboard ad "tables open 5 pm til 1 am" Bj tables never. never open.

Review 45:The receptionists were very pleasant and helpful.

Review 46:Didn't like that there was no gym to work out.

Review 47:The room was large and seemed more like a suite and having the refrigerator and microwave were definite pluses.

Review 48:Old, cheaper rooms were definitely aged, but tolerable for price. This walls, floors, and ceilings. Can hear everyone around you talk at a "quiet" voice level. When a toilet flushes and you are in the shower, move quick or get scalded.

Review 49:Affordable Convenient Parking (trucks, equipment)

Review 50:The room was 75 degrees. I asked them to come look at it at 5:45 and they never did until 7:40. When I went back to my room it was 73. Still too hot for us. I asked them what happened and they accused me of not knowing how to set my AC. I said I set it right. they didn't accommodate my needs at all. Woke up in the morning and it was 74. I will never stay there again and I will pass that around.

Review 51:The room was nice and big. Updated.

Review 52:it was to loud in the rooms couldnt sleep good .people were very loud and staff didnt do nothing about it was wakeing up alot thur the night because of loud noises and loud people talking in the halls

Review 53:The room had a very poor queen mattress on top of a full size box spring. The sheets had hair on them as if they hadn't been cleaned. And the carpet in the room was nasty.

Review 54:The floors were really durty I had asked for clean I went to Elko for surgery and needed clean I was not happy with room

Review 55:The people at the front desk were really nice they did everything they could for us

Review 56:The room in it's entirety was unacceptable. It just didn't feel clean and there was no warmth to the room at all. Definitely in need of a major overhaul.

Review 57:The Resturant

Review 58:Should have read the reviews forts, instead of going by Bookings 3 Star Rating. Rooms were old, very worn and curtains were broken. It felt like camping. Maybe the remodeled section of the hotel is nice, but where we were put was not.

Review 59:Not much. The price was cheap, but that was about it.

Review 60:The sheets on our bed had huge stains on it, which was very disgusting. We had driven long distance and did not want to complain. The carpet was very worn and smelly. The walls in the room and bathroom had mold. It was not a good price for the disgusting room.

Review 61:Great location and easy to find

Review 62:Room was quite cool with a very light blanket, I noticed only in the morning that I could have controlled it. Tub needed new caulk. First room could not flush toilet, but they swapped me out immediately. Second room was in working order.

Review 63:Staff was friendly and quick. Room (3rd floor) had a balcony overlooking the pool. Check in was fast.

Review 64:Bathroom was substandard, WiFi in the room provided a very poor connection, climate control was terrible, bed mattress was uncomfortable, and only two small pillows for the bed.

Review 65:The small casino was fine and the restaurant was good.

Review 66:The casino staff was horrible. Will stay at the hotel but we'll spend our moneygambling at a different casino on Elko. The staff was extremely rude.

Review 67:I was very happy to find out stay was in the remodeled room's.

Review 68:The original room we were given was awful. I don't have enough room to list all the problems. The food in the coffee shop was cold, poorly prepared, didn't arrive at the same time as the other part of our order, and the waitress was busy doing things besides taking care of us.

Review 69:Once we were moved to one of the remodeled rooms, we were quite satisfied.

Review 70:Very dirty Stained carpets Dirty walls Stained bedspread Mold aroundshower/tub The rooms and hallways looked to me like ghetto housing

Review 71:Price...get what you pay for The gal was very nice about refunding my $$

Review 72:Dirty! Dirty! Dirty! Old! Old! Old! We doubted if the sheet was changed! We could see a few coins on the floor. My husband could not sleep at allbecause of itching. .............!!! no! Never there again. Same $ paidcould stay well in many other better places, E.G. Gold xx Hotel;Travellogge ( We stayed there 1 week ago be using this bad poor motel!)Not recommended at all!

Review 73:Nothing!!!

Review 74:The room was bad, ugly and out of date. The curtains, and bedspread had seen much better days. The bathroom needed a serious update. No fan or cooling and at first the room was too warm. A very antique heater system did sorta work tho. We have stayed there a few times over the years but the Stockman finally grossed us out.

Review 75:The food was good. The casino restrooms were great

Review 76:Nothing

Review 77:The room was clean, large, awesome and a great value. The Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I stay in Elko twice a month and I always stay here.

Review 78:The price was to high for the quality of the room. Room was to hot & no air conditioning. Heard everything in the other rooms & hallway.

Review 79:western style of the room, the restaurant.

Review 80:the hotel room section of the casino really needs to be gutted and remodeled, it's very, very well used...I suspect the mining industry boom in the elko area has kept the rooms full and the mgmt happy with great cash flow... Too bad, it's a neat old hotel,,,,,but the "old" rooms need major attention

Review 81:the staff

Review 82:hallways dirty, partially painted hallway ceilings, stained carpets...then went to our room. very hot. cooler didn't work. Asked for a different room. it was the same except the toilet wouldn't flush. got a refund and left. awful!

Review 83:nothing

Review 84:The pillows are lumpy and uncomfortable. We had reservation for two non-smoking, got one non-smoking, one smoking. The smoking room had a broken smoke detector. None of the rooms had coffee maker. You can feel the springs in the mattress. All the doors had dirt stains on it. All the rooms smelled bad. The rooms are like something from the 60s and have not had an update. They still have the old box TV. THIS IS A HOTEL FROM HELL!!

Review 85:Too noisy and room did not feel secure with the door adjar.

Review 86:Convenience. They advertised removed rooms and the was definitely not remodeled. We almost left to another hotel. The noise level from the street and folks parking in the the hotel registration was terrible. We had to ask for towels as the maid didn't have towels after cleaning the room.

Review 87:I stayed on two week ends and had to different room. Both room were in need of repair and where I seen maintainence done it, must of been by someone with no experience. Example: A bathroom door at some time had a hole. Who ever repaired it used screws that where to long and did not cut them off leave about a inch sticking out on the bathroom side. The some plaster had fell off the bathroom celling and not be repaired at all.

Review 88:The location is great and the people that work there were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. It is my under standing that they are remodeling the rooms, so what I didn't like may not be so in a month or two.

Review 89:The room was old and decrepit, the carpet was old and dirty, and the main light bulb was burnt out. The mattress did not have a fitted sheet, exposing the matress that was so old and gross that we didn't sleep well and woke up with backaches. The bathroom was rusty, not too clean, and shower leaked and the dripping sound bugged us the whole night.

Review 90:When we realized the wifi in our room was not working, the receptionist glady switched our room for us

Review 91:Online rooms at $50.00 are rundown and smell of mold and vomit. Can upgrade to a newer cleaner room for another $39.00 which is not out of line for the area, but having to upgrade from the booking price once your there is a rip off.

Review 92:We arrived to get our room keys that didn't not work on the door and were not put never any electronics. So, my pregnant wife went back to the front desk for new keys, while I waited holding me sleeping two year old. Just so we could get our keys reprogrammed to open the door to a already occupied room. Then after being assigned to a different room, we find our room dirty and the bed was missing a fitted sheet and the front door had no dead bolt. Needless to say, we would of rather slept in our car.

Review 93:Carpet was spotted and dirty. Pillows horrible, one so tiny even for a baby.Curtain did not close properly, had to tie it together. Sheet did not fit the bed, etc.,etc. Never again. Even the slots were tight, ater spending over 175.00 on them and no returns.

Review 94:Nothing...

Review 95:Rooms were in need of repair and furniture replacement. Carpets were extremely worn anmd soiled in around beds. Beds did not have mattress cover and sheets barely covered mattress. Mattress felt lumpy. Entire room is need of major renovation.

Review 96:At first we were put in a room in the old part of hotel which was disgusting the sheets on the beds didn't cover mattress and were wrinkled looked like they were never changed whole room was in bad shape after complaining we were moved to a room in the newer area. For the price they charged these old rooms should never have been rented, maids should be followed up on!!!

Review 97:The front desk clerk was excellent. Food was good and service was good

Review 98:air conditioning did not work it was 86 deg for both nights. I mentioned to desk and they sent up maintenance and they replaced the filter which did not help. We had two sleepless nights. slept in separate beds as it was too hot to sleep together. staffs attitude was sorry but offered nothing in way of compensation. It was not a good stay.

Review 99:location

Review 100:Location left something to be desired, very noisy bar right outside our window with a live band playing. Bait-and-switch tactics, they show pictures of the fancy rooms but the low price gets you a room that hasn't been upgraded yet, but they'll be happy to upgrade you for the difference in price. They should make it clear that there is a huge difference in room quality. If I'd known I probably would have book the AVBI that is closer to more dining choices and freeway access, and away from the shadier part of town.

Review 101:The upgraded room was great, comfy beds, nice big TV, Wi-Fi included.

Review 102:THE ORIGINAL ROOM THAT WE HAD BOOKED WAS VERY OLD AND DIRTY. I TOOK ONE STEP IN AND WENT STRAIGHT TO THE PHONE TO ASK FOR AN UP-GRADE. THE HOTEL HAS OLD, OLD ROOMS AND THEN NEW ROOMS. THEY SHOULD DO AWAY WITH THE OLD ROOMS ALL TOGETHER BECAUSE THERE IS NO COMPARISON.

Review 103:I LIKED THAT WE HAD THE OPTION TO UPGRADE INTO A NEWLY REMODELED ROOM, OTHERWISE WE WOULD HAVE HAD TO GO ELSE WHERE. tHE OLD ROOM THAT WE HAD ORIGINALLY BOOKED SHOULD BE DESTROYED...IT WAS OLD AND DIRTY.

Review 104:The hotel was scary, mold everywhere, filthy, sheets that didn't got the bed, horrible chemical smell, lights that came through the bathroom that you couldn't cover up at night. It was noisy and the people there were freaks! They all looked like drunks or druggies!

Review 105:Nothing!

Review 106:The first room had a broken cabinet door, the 2 lamps wre burned out and the toilet supply line was leaking. The room was a total dissapointment, but the Desk Clerk very graciously upgraded our room.

Review 107:The upgraded room was a recent remodel of which I would describe as luxurious with nice amenities

Review 108:The room was dirty, outdated and I could here my neighbors conversations. There were people sleeping in the lobby and people fighting in the parking lot. The parking lot and location of the hotel is not in the best location.

Review 109:free wi-fi

Review 110:All open areas of hotel smelled heavily of cigarette smoke. Air system brought faint odor of cig smoke into our room. Noise of some mechanical system kept us awake all night..elevator? A/C system going on and off? Very loud!!

Review 111:Room was spacious and new. Specifically asked for non-smoking room and found it to be free of heavy smoke smells.

Review 112:Found I was booked twice for same reservation. Never received confirmation of cancellation. Read how this hotel advertized remolded rooms and quoted a low price for a very substandard room. Offered to upgrade for a higher room rate.

Review 113:Did not stay at Stockmans.

Review 114:The room was nasty, small, and run down. The bed appeared to have been slept in and the sheets did not fit the bed so it was a constant fight to keep the bottom sheet on the bed. It had a weird odder to it. The bed was hard and worn out it sunk in the center. I would never stay at this hotel again!!

Review 115:Sleep was great until awaken at 2:51am Due to a drunk person saying he belonged in my room. Should have been comped room for the inconvinience.

Review 116:First checked was fine Dinner was great

Review 117:The entire hotel needs painting and the carpets in the room and hallway are filthy. The air conditioning in the room did not work and was non existent in the hallway. The toilet looked like it was obtained from the Federal prison in Ely. I know it wasn't the upgrade room but this was ridiculous.

Review 118:The pool and area around it are nice.

Review 119:no air conditioning, only fans - not told pillows were like 100 golf balls, no bed pad, stained linens Slow service smells, flys We would have moved, but dead tired

Review 120:Casino location price

Review 121:Value for the amount spent, e.g. - the swimming pool was dysfunctional!; also the room wasn't as clean and comfortable as billed!

Review 122:Location was adequate, check -in time was reasonable ; I told them I was dis-abled and needed at least a place to keep my bags while contacting businesses if I couldn't get into my room. They after some discussion, allowed this. I couldn't take my bags w/ me!

Review 123:As you enter the loby, the noise from the slot machines is overbearing. Apparently. all the cheap rooms, are on the 3rd floor. The room had burn marks on the carpet. There was a small refrigerator and small microwave placed on the floor. The bathroom needed lots repairs. Hand towels looked like they had been washed in soot. Room door was hard to open.

Review 124:Not much.

Review 125:Even though the hotel rooms are non smoking, when you first walk in the smoke odor in the casino kinda stays with you.

Review 126:the first room we were assigned was in the very old part of the hotel. The air conditioning was not working properly so they upgraded us to a newly remodeled room which was awesome. We had to pay a little more but compared to the first room, it was like heaven. The staff was always very nice and pleasant.

Review 127:Embarrassing experience. Booking.com should NOT allow this hotel to even advertise the unrenovated rooms. They were worse than a dive and not decent. The picture on the website must have been doctored because they are horrific!

Review 128:We finally were upgraded to a newer room. BEWARE!!!!

Review 129:I first booked to cheapest room available. Original no update since the eighties. It scared me. just a fan -no AC. Grimy walls, holes in black-out windows, indistinct smell-probably old cigarette smoke and alcohol. Those nasty colored bedspreads which have been fazed out of most hotels now. I envisioned bedbugs or roaches (not that I saw any, mind) outdoor veranda/hall with seedy guests smoking and giving me the eye. Upgrade was 40.00. Worth it.

Review 130:The newly upgraded room was sweet and cool and clean and comfortable. Small fridge, microwave, nice towels. Curtains with good blackout abilities. Easy to upgrade to it. Slept well in the clean white sheets.

Review 131:Front desk employee Cali, went above and beyond for us!! We wanted something romantic and she covered it all!! Champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. The only unfortunate event was we wanted a jacuzzi, which she did give us in our room but the A/C was not working properly and therefore we had to move to another room. So even though we did not get the jacuzzi, everything was perfect. Thank you so much!!

Review 132:Security to door to outside balcony scary. Air condition poor at best with fan on top making me move it to close the curtin. I was uncomfortable and nervous. I requested a smoking room but received a smoking room.poor parking options.

Review 133:Staff.

Review 134:Casino was smoky, but that is not unusual.

Review 135:Pleasantly surprised by the quality and value of the Inn. Room refurbished, nicely furnished, spacious, clean.

Review 136:The walls are thin u can hear everything ur neighbor is saying and the step coming off the elevator on 2 nd floor is ridiculously annoying when u have the cart loafed with all ur luggage

Review 137:the rooms have a private balcony
