Reviews for Brooklyn Motor Inn

Review 1:-The hotel smells like marijuana mixed with cigarette smoke as soon asyou walk in.- Wasn't expecting to pay taxes in addition to Booking.com "total cost". I assumed it was included, no biggie but BE PREPARED FOR THE ADDITIONAL COST. - Clientele says it all ((poor demeanor)) - I requested a NON SMOKING room but due to the smoke already penetrated in the ENTIRE HOTEL it was just out of the question. I ended up walking out of the hotel with all my clothes with a b/o. -Last but not lease, blankets and sheets are not all replaced after every visit; THATS A FACT! BEFORE YOU TAKE ALL YOUR BAGS TO YOUR ROOM INSPECT THOROUGHLY, MY BED SET WAS A COMPLETE DISGUST!

Review 2:Parking Available - only good thing

Review 3:parking is allowed only during your actual stay in hotel. Asked If I could leave my car for a few hours before check-in (come to NY at the morning) - get a refusal.

Review 4:the noise in the hallway, the smell of cigarette smoke and the cold look and feel of the room. It felt industrial and the hallway was incomplete.

Review 5:The television

Review 6:Noisy, couldn't sleep. Industrial area, big trucks passing just in front of our window every 1-2 minutes starting from 5.30am. Had a feeling we were sleeping on the street. Very hard thin uncomfortable matrass, with waterptoof bed sheet protector, which made noise every time I were turning sides. Broken safety door lock, didn't feel safe. Too expensive for the quality.

Review 7:Renovated room, clean modern bathroom.

Review 8:The room was nice, bed was comfortable But the pillows were were flat. Iwoke up with my neck killing trying to sleep on a flat pillow

Review 9:I like the art that was in the room and the shower was nice.

Review 10:The hotel was dirty, elevator dirty, hallway carpets stained, construction work was actively in progress without closing off rooms in the construction site

Review 11:Location was great for access to public transportation and highway

Review 12:Our room smelt of smoke even though it was supposedly non-smoking. There is no coffee anywhere. The least attractive thing about the property is that we arrived late on a Friday night (2am) at the time that men appeared to be arriving with their consorts / sex workers. The hotel's own check in / check out notice distinguishes between overnight guests and others. Without wanting to sound prudish, I must admit that this hotel was just a touch too seedy for my comfort.

Review 13:The rooms themselves are clean and fairly modern. There is a fair amount of parking available.

Review 14:We had to try 3 rooms before we got an acceptable one. First room the lock was broken. The second claimed it was non-smoking but there was a nasty smell from smoke and an ash tray and lighter on the desk. The third was acceptable but the lock was erratic. The hall was partially painted with the wall paper removed. The smoke detector was missing in our room. When they replaced it, it kept beeping. Elevator was dirty and finish on inside was badly scratched. There were no stores to get snacks within 6 blocks. It was a very desolate area. The desk person would not call a cab for us so we had to fend for ourselves. When we asked any questions about the area for food or transportation the kept referring us to the stand with pamphlets

Review 15:Room was newly remodeled. Price was afforadable

Review 16:Really disgusting and disturbing porn on two stations on the TV. No filter or warning whatsoever. You don't want to chanel surf here. The dumpster from the remodeling was removed and a new one rolled in right outside our room's window around 4:00 a.m. Saturday morning. We were on the second floor above the drive way. With this and the couple across the hall fighting throughout the night, our first $185.00 night we got very little sleep.

Review 17:Location was great for visiting lovely Brooklyn brownstone neighborhoods. Free parking. Could walk to some nice restaurants. Hotel was easy to find using GPS. Room was new, clean and comfortable. Liked the tile floors for cleanliness. Toiletries, towels and bedding (other than pillows) were nice quality. Take your own pillow.

Review 18:There were ants in the room... lots of unfinished constructions going on... room was too small

Review 19:Free parking, close to Brooklyn Bridge Park which was cool

Review 20:The location. I found the area very remote, not much around. I arrived in te evening and wasn't sure the cab driver was taking me to the right place.

Review 21:The front office manager was very pleasant. I enjoyed a lengthy conversation with him While waiting for a cab on the morning of my departurw

Review 22:- It's really expensive. Around 130 € for just one day and it's really far from Wall street or Times Square. -It's a ten-minute walk to the subway station but it can be really difficult to find it if you don't know the area. Send an email to the hotel and ask them to send you a map. They give it to you once you get there and it would be much more useful to have it before you get there. The hotel is really close to the highway that's why you'll always have the sound of cars passing by in the background.

Review 23:- We only stayed there one night and we wouldn't have stayed more. For us, it was a place for just an overnight stay. -If you're just looking for a place to sleep with no luxuries this is your place.

Review 24:Still had a lot of construction going on, if thats a bad thing since its for renovate or remodel so I could imagine it won't be there for long.

Review 25:Quick walk to small shops and pier 6, great neighborhood, close to public transportation, up and coming neighborhood.

Review 26:Too noisy. Not only do you hear the traffic from outside ( trucks) but also being Inside your room you hear all hallway conversation and employess talking. Even noisy from other rooms. Not insonorated. If your a light sleeper do not go here.

Review 27:Location, easy to visit manhattan. You can cross over by metro. Easy parking. Close to barclays center.

Review 28:There wasn't a single thing we didn't like about the property

Review 29:The staff was so very helpful, explained to us how to take the subway, which one to take and where to get off.....we asked many directions and they were very patient with explaining the craziness of NYC to us....felt very safe and comfortable....loved the room....great value and will definitely stay here again

Review 30:My room was way to small I had a bad view in my window and it smell of cigarettes threw out the whole building its nasty.

Review 31:The only good thing was the tv and that's it.

Review 32:the wifi was very weak and it was only limited service so it was impoosible to do any work, and i was hoping for a better selection of television....

Review 33:I would suggest that the room layout be different in each room. My bed n the adjoing rooms bed were against the same wall, uncomfortable to hear there noises and headboard knocking. They were there for a short time, so it wasn't too bad.

Review 34:I like the newly renovated rooms. The decor is a nice touch to the space.

Review 35:The room was in poor shape. Old ratty carpets, unpainted plaster patches on the walls. Broken molding. Very worn out mattress. Perhaps they are renovating because the bathroom was decent and looked new. Also there was the construction material in the parking lot. The wifi was very very slow. really didn't work. There was a sign in on the second floor lobby right next to a full ashtray stating "This is a non smoking hotel". The whole place smelled like a stale ashtray. Elevator wad dirty and needed to be renovated. There are no services near by, No iron or hair dryer in the room. Old beat up furniture you could find at the salvation army for free. I stay in economy hotels in Brooklyn a few times a month for work. this was undoubtable the worst one I have stayed in. Linens were cheap but clean. A very poor location if your a tourist. Ok for motor travelers as the Brooklyn battery tunnel to Manhattan is right outside your window, literally. Desolate industrial area. I couldn't get dinner at 10pm because there was nothing nearby except a cheap deli in a city that doesn't sleep.

Review 36:Parking on site. Desk staff was nice behind the bullet proof glass.

Review 37:The room we were given was in the middle of paint work, so half of the wall was white, and the other half yellowish. The carpet needed some deep cleaning.

Review 38:If you're looking for a travel on a budget, you should take Brooklyn Motor Inn into consideration. Very easy to get by, it's located close to everything, and if you have to walk a bit, just get the bus B61 right around the corner. If your aim is accommodation just to leave your stuff, sleep in a good bed and have a good shower, that's the place! The central heating works well and the bathroom is cute and clean! The shower is amazing! The staff is very friendly and ready to help. Girls, they have hair dryer in the reception. Just call 'em!

Review 39:I would have liked more ammenities in the room such as a coffee maker and also continental breakfast.

Review 40:The friendliness of staff and help with all directions to places and events were most helpful.

Review 41:The might rent by the hour to some clients

Review 42:Convenient, clean, recently remodeled.

Review 43:noisy traffic and construction and smelled like smoke

Review 44:under remodel

Review 45:Updated rooms

Review 46:smell of smoke in non-smoking room, rude, disinterested front counter staff member

Review 47:location in red hook, cleanliness

Review 48:front desk was not inviting

Review 49:It served its purpose as a place to sleep

Review 50:No food

Review 51:Location

Review 52:There was a microwave in the room which is good but there wasn't a kettle. Wifi is not very reliable.

Review 53:Bathroom is good.

Review 54:The hallways, cold floors no table in room

Review 55:The front desk was polite

Review 56:Situated near a major road with noisy all nighy heavy goods vehicles. I was forced to use two different credit cards.

Review 57:None to mention

Review 58:General lack of amenities-noise-dirty-poor air and insecure garage

Review 59:Sticky floors. Cramped room and lobby.

Review 60:Room was not aesthetic. Drywall issues and wall repairs everywhere

Review 61:Rain shower was really nice

Review 62:Could hear the neighbors TVs very clearly early in the morning.

Review 63:Great for a nights rest. The lobby is small but looks cool.

Review 64:Dirty

Review 65:The staff was very helpful with information. The bathroom was fabulous new clean! Location a little far from subway. Parking was free and secure.

Review 66:Private parking; great location to the Brooklyn Bridge. Definitely stay here again.

Review 67:The room was kind of dirty. The bed was horrible as mattress was all wore out. The AC was dreadful and didn't work well. Lastly I found it bizarre that there were porn channels on for anyone to see. Oh what a surprise when channel surfing.

Review 68:I guess the bathroom was nice. That's about it.

Review 69:No Comments Needed, Everything is exceeded my satisfaction.

Review 70:I love this place. When I need to relax and unwind, I come here. Love all of you, at the Brooklyn Motor Inn. Bklyn, New York

Review 71:The tv should have been a combination with DVD player so we could watch or personal movies on screen.

Review 72:The bathroom shower relaxed all my muscles. It felt like i was in a waterfall.

Review 73:No local amenities and a 15 minute walk from nearest public transport. Room quite small but comfortable enough for a few nights. very close to docklands that are still being redeveloped but it didn't feel unsafe. In a few years the area will have been redeveloped and will be nice.

Review 74:Very easy access in a car - Just at the end of the tunnel (on payment of $7.50 toll). An hours walk to Manhattan and half an hour to Brooklyn Bridge at a good pace. Half an hours drive to Coney Island. Excellent free parking that appears secure. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Review 75:There is no kettle in the room.

Review 76:Quite good location: about 15 minutes of walking to subway station (Carroll St). Nice quiet district. Rooms are spacious & clean. There are fridge, microwave oven, TV-set there. Friendly staff.

Review 77:Check out was bad at 12 pm they took our bag without notice to us while we was out in the city, they should to wait and charge more if require, the parking is open and ir not safe place , difficult to go to city by walk

Review 78:The price is good

Review 79:Not too many attractions in area

Review 80:Free parking fast check in. Not too busy. Location not to far from Manhattan other cities and jersey. Nice tolietries. Good spot for smokers the windows open.

Review 81:The room was smoll and crowded and very noisy non stop and strong truck traffic. The aircondition unit's smell was terrible we couldn't use it. When we opened the window we couldn't sleep.

Review 82:The staff was helpful. Free parking.

Review 83:The location was difficult to get to, not well know to yellow cab taxi drivers or even people in the neighborhood when asking for directions. Very far from transit system. Need own car or they could offer shuttle services.

Review 84:The staff was pleasant and very helpful .

Review 85:There wasn't a restaurant, so we couldn't grab a cup of tea or coffee anywhere close in the evening, all the cafes and restaurants quite far, closer to the subway.

Review 86:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean enough, they cleaned it every day.

Review 87:The manager was very impolite, boardering with being rude. In the middle of our stay he cancelled our reservation on booking.com (without our knowledge and consent) and when we complained he threatened us with a higher price.

Review 88:kind and polite staff members (apart from manager), reasonable location with a good connection to the city ( Manhattan), reasonably priced.

Review 89:It was at least a fifteen minute walk to the nearest subway station. You have to walk through an area that seems a little shady...under a bridge. The other option was to take the bus to a metro station and transfer which was time consuming.

Review 90:The place was affordable and the staff were nice. The room was not the cleanest but it was good enough. The atmosphere was good and comfortable. Overall a good experience.

Review 91:No tea / coffee making facilities, not even in the foyer, that is important for travellers when shops are quite a walk away. It was also difficult to find when accessing from subway. Ask for a room not facing the tunnel entrance!

Review 92:This hotel was adequate for our needs as we needed a fridge and microwave

Review 93:Asked repeatedly for a non-smoking room but the entire motor inn smelled of smoke and we had to keep the window open all day to air out the room. Sign in elevator says it is a non-smoking motel but that is not true. Blanket & tub had cigarette burns on them.

Review 94:The room had a refrigerator & microwave which is useful. The area is nondescript and far from subways. However, Red Hook has many good restaurants especially for brunch. They are struggling since Super Storm Sandy.

Review 95:I request a none smoking area but all in the hall way I smell smoke. They have a coffee machine that not working

Review 96:Places to go was not far good option by bus train and cab

Review 97:Staff are terrible. They are unwilling to work with you even for thesimplest requests. Couldn't even get me a 30 minutes early check-in,and then wouldn't allow my guest inside because she was not 21 yearsold. She has to wait at the lobby which was embarrassing andunprofesional. No sign of customer service, just rude front-desk clerkand a very rude manager. I will never stay at this place, and I do notrecommend it to anyone. Terrible experience ever.

Review 98:Absolutely nothing

Review 99:The first room we got had an unbearable smell of tobacco. We went in anddecided in a second that we could not stay in that room. Luckily, changing rooms was no problem, the second room was good then. The people next door were pretty loud (radio or TV on) but after complaining at the reception, the noise was gone immediately. Subway is a 10-15 minute walk away, which was no problem for us (we enjoyed the walk) but could be for others.

Review 100:The room was clean and the staff was friendly. It was the cheapest hotel still available and it was an okay experience.

Review 101:My room smell very bad and hot. I would not recomm this hotel to anyone. I stayed in NY for five more days and I stayed some where else.

Review 102:the location

Review 103:Rude staff, unclean facility, odd moldy smell from the room, would never recommend to anyone

Review 104:Nothing chose to leave immediately after looking at the room

Review 105:No iron. Too far from transportation and restaurants.

Review 106:Cozy room. Good tv.

Review 107:It was dirty

Review 108:Nothing

Review 109:No breakfast. .and room could be cleaner

Review 110:Parking, fridge and microwave in room

Review 111:There was no WiFi during four days I asked them no they said they will fix it but no results

Review 112:this hotel is very noisy in all night. very bad arroundings.

Review 113:Very small room. But clean!

Review 114:It's quite a small place.

Review 115:Compared with other places, it's inexpensive. The B61 bus comes often enough and can take you to the subway.

Review 116:Nothing at all!!! Booking should refund my money for this night

Review 117:Very small room. Shower curtain had large dirty hand prints. Neighborhood has nothing.

Review 118:Adequate. Free parking.

Review 119:The smell of cigarette smoke was pungent

Review 120:The price was good

Review 121:Rooms were cleaner than expected and staff was very helpful

Review 122:No signs of where Vending machine and ice machine location...seeing mice running

Review 123:The bed was comfortable

Review 124:Mangement nows nothing about cricket :)
