Reviews for Volcano Country Cottages
Review 1:The location is second to none if you're after good access to the National Park and the host is as good a tour guide as you could pay. Nothing is a big deal and Garret accommodates all interests right down to the best seat in the local restaurant.
Review 2:Excellent location near volcano national park and local services. Very comfortable clean and well equipped individual cottages. Excellent hospitality from the owners.
Review 3:Leaving after only 5 days was hard.
Review 4:Excellent pied a terre for visiting places outside of Hilo. Come and go as one pleases, good restaurants within walking distance, yet the quietness and relaxation of a cabin in the rain forest.
Review 5:Strange towelling type sheets on bed, probably more effective at dealing with the humidity though. Bed was fine overall and we slept well.
Review 6:Beautiful, tranquil setting. Great advice from the hosts. Very close to the volcano, you can pop up there at night to see the lava glow. Dehumidifier in room was effective.
Review 7:Very friendly host, perfectly closed located to the volcano national park surrounded by a "rainforest garden". everything was perfectly clean.
Review 8:The weather was pretty cool and the cottage has only two small mobile heaters. So the nights in the cottage were cool.
Review 9:Cottage in middle of a great garden. Very nice owners, very helpfully to organize visits and hikes around the volcanos. Jaquzzi to heat up after a long and cool hiking day.
Review 10:You must be kidding.
Review 11:Location is outstanding. Never experienced more knowledgeable or friendly staff. Garret and Sandy are wonderful people who truly want you to enjoy your time with them.
Review 12:Nothing
Review 13:Wonderful cottage inside a tropical garden, very near to the Volcano National Park. Hosts are great and we have to thank Garret for having been very helpful giving us lot of useful information about the park and about Big Island.
Review 14:We had a really great stay at Volcano Country Cottages. Garret and Sandy are wonderful hosts and the place is beautiful and very well maintained in a very lush and quiet environment. It's a very short ride (less than 10 min) to the Volcano Park. We spent 2 nights in a cottage that was perfectly clean, very comfortable and well-equipped. The breakfast provided was delicious (fresh fruits, eggs, milk, juice and an amazing homemade sweetbread). Above all, Garret really takes the time to share his knowledge of Big Island and Volcano Park and provided super helpful tips before each day (where to hike, places to eat / picnic, where to snorkel, etc).
Review 15:The internet is free but not accessed from your room but at the reception, which would be a bit more convenient. But it didn't make our stay worse. The place is great.
Review 16:Garret and Sandy are great hosts and genuinely interested on helping us to best the most odd our stay in Volcano. The cottage is all we needed for a family with two children.
Review 17:nothing
Review 18:- Nice and beautiful house! - Garret and Sandy is very warm and welcoming, giving us a lot of good advises! - Good location, 5 minute to Volcano park
Review 19:I would have appreciated some bread for toast. My only substantive complaint is that Garrett requested we remove our shoes when entering the cottage and I found my feet became very cold (I had not packed slippers).
Review 20:We were three, my wife, her sister and me, and we stayed just one night. The "Artist" cottage was beautifully located for the Volcano National Park. Garrett, our host was very pleasant, wonderfully informative, with a great deal of useful information about sights of interest, places to eat and other really valuable tips. He recommended the Tuk Tuk Thai Truck for Thai food and we found it to be amongst the best Thai food we have ever eaten. The cottage is spacious with really comfortable beds. The kitchen area was well stocked with appropriate utensils and although we didn't, it was well suited to cooking and eating in. Garrett was worried about the adequacy of the wifi signal in the cottage, but I had a full-strength signal at the dining table. Garrett provided a breakfast of fruit juice, fresh fruit, instant porridge, banana bread (cake), eggs (to cook), coffee (to brew), tea and milk. The fruit was scrumptious.
Review 21:Everything! Mahalo Garret and Sandy! Beautiful cottage in a rain forest, extremely comfortable, clean, everything in tip top shape. Garret knows everything about the island, pointed us the best places to get the most out of our big island vacation.
Review 22:Our cottage was nestled in a little piece of heaven on earth. Beautiful surroundings, clean and cozy home away from home. Peaceful, energizing, and wonderful location for exploring Volcano National Park. Owners were welcoming, friendly, and created an inviting place to enjoy the natural surroundings while offering idea to maximize time spent in the area. Loved it!
Review 23:The bed was very comfortable, cannot stress it enough. The hosts very extremely helpful and went out of their way to help us plan our days to get the most of our time. The breakfast was very good and enough was left to stash in a cooler and have a snack later. The cottages are just as they should be, well situated, in a beautiful garden. We stayed at Maui, Oahu, and Big Island and this was the best part of our holiday. We cannot thank them enough for having us.
Review 24:Nothing really
Review 25:This place is beautiful and peaceful . It is only about 3 miles from the National park so it is a great location to go in and out of the park.
Review 26:Breakfast assumed everyone liked fresh fruit. Whilst I like some, a degree of choice in the mornings would have been nice
Review 27:Garrett, the owner was a mine of information and certainly helped us make the most of our time there.
Review 28:We thought there was to be wi fi. Never found out if there was.
Review 29:The owners helpfulness, the lovely accommodations . Good beds. View from windows. Hot tub with the sound of rain falling...
Review 30:No wifi in the room but we only stayed one night so it wasn't a problem for us.
Review 31:Easy access to volcano and good food. The hot tub was especially nice since it was raining and chilly.
Review 32:Very friendly and knowledgable owners, excellent location, peaceful, wonderful cook your own breakfast (they supply all the materials), cottage was very functional and minimally decorated which we loved. We were able to admire and appreciate the rainforest.
Review 33:Thai restaurant next door was great, but no microwave in our unit to heat up leftovers.
Review 34:One minute drive to park - made it easy to go late at night to see the eruption with less crowds. Dehumidifier made a huge difference, no mold/mildew/headaches. Garrett was like having a personal guide!
Review 35:No interknit in the cottage, only in the main office. Little choices for food, bring your food with you.
Review 36:Every Was nice, piece, comfort, jungle, volcano.
Review 37:only one minor thing - Internet was available at lobby, not at the cabin itself.
Review 38:the garden is nice; the host is very friendly and knowledgeable; quite green location; outdoor spa; clean spacious cottage.
