Reviews for Pointe Plaza Hotel
Review 1:I have a problem involving deposit & final payment, which is still not resolved! I, mistakenly gave them a Currency Debit Card upon check-in, so effectively paid for my stay!! However, upon departure, Receptionist asked for it again and I naively obliged after she confirmed that the initial card swipe was only a deposit!! I subsequently found out that money was taken off the card twice!! Upon follow-up, they informed me that the 1st swipe is 'pending' and will go back on the card, according to the banks procedures!! After 1 month, the amount is still 'pending'!!!!!!!! They should not have taken the card twice, as they deal with these things every day, even though I made a mistake by using a debit card as a deposit!!
Review 2:Friendly staff & good room! The location was good for ME but quite a distance from subway stn.
Review 3:Everything was good
Review 4:Safe Brooklyn location surrounded by a community with many young families, ceilings in room were very high and gave feeling of lots of space which is good when traveling to NYC
Review 5:Located on very congested street that is very difficult to navigate during the day.
Review 6:Best Hotel Staff I've encountered in quite a while. Gated parking lot 1.5 blocks away, easy walk.
Review 7:The room was very clean and large. The staff was very attentive. There is nothing in the area even close to as nice, and especially for the value / price.
Review 8:Rude staff, very poor cleanliness, never had fresh towels or sheets in the whole week we stayed even though they were clearly dirty. The room was never "cleaned" before 4 PM. Shower did not work for hot water. Thin walls, could hear normal conversations from room next door.
Review 9:Location (although 1 hour to main Manhattan attractions by subway) and breakfast (although mainly sweet)
Review 10:Since New York City hotel rooms are typically very small so having the extra space which included the kitchenette and small sofa made the room feel so much less cramped. We will definitely stay there again.
Review 11:The hotel was far from any decent public transport (20 mins walk at least to nearest subway) and as its a Jewish neighbourhood I found it difficult to get supplies (razors/shaving foam for instance) and nothing was open on Saturday (the nearest open store was a half hr walk) when I needed medical supplies as my daughter wasn't well. Friendly staff but the people outside were not too friendly and looked at us as if to say what are you doing here!
Review 12:Comfortable beds, large rooms and friendly staff - good value for money but I recommend you have a car. We ended up walking a lot to get anywhere or taking taxis.
Review 13:our room was unusual for a hotel room and yes ceilings are very high. probably a little too beige and brown but that is just a matter of choice
Review 14:We had a very pleasant three day stay. The hotel was quite and central for us as we were visiting family in Bushwick.Breakfast is simple. Subway is a 10 minute walk.
Review 15:Bed was a rock, but the set up with the kitchen and sitting area was great.
Review 16:Great, safe neighborhood. Convenient to the traveling I had to do all around.
Review 17:The 10 minute walk to the nearest Metro felt a bit long when we were tired or it was cold outside. The wifi didn't always work for us which was a bit frustrating.
Review 18:I liked the cleanliness and size of the suite. The bed was comfortable. The staff was kind and helpful. Overall a good base for exploring New York.
Review 19:Noisy. Tons of traffic in this residential area due to scores of school buses bringing kids to the Hebrew schools. This is a Hassidic Jewish neighbourhood which was interesting but nothing of interest for tourists (no shops, restaurants, activities). However if you walk about a mile you end up in the fun trendy "hipster" area.
Review 20:It was the best value for our purpose. We came to see a concert at the Music Hall of Williamsburg- this was the best option but was a 25-30 minute walk from there. I t was clean but kind of dated and run down in places. Nice staff, fair sized room, good breakfast. Pretty good price.
Review 21:The location is bad, 10-15 min walk to closest subway which requires at least one stopover to even reach Manhattan. Also, the hotel is in the middle of a very religious Jewish neighborhood, which feels uncomfortable and not welcoming, however it is very safe. The breakfast is very limited and the same every day, so you will probably not use the breakfast every day.
Review 22:The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff is very nice and helpful.
Review 23:The whole experience was good. The staff were always willing to take the time to answer questions. The room itself was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was outstanding.
Review 24:This is more like a hostel of sorts than a hotel. It was an odd set up. We checked in late and there were cleaning supplies and fold away beds piled in the hall. The room was clean but just not our "cup of tea".
Review 25:Easy to book. Nice staff.
Review 26:The curtains were not possible to draw completely.
Review 27:Breakfast was very good, very good pastry. Comfortable bed. Spacious. Clean. Water and Coffee&Tee for free in the lobby.
Review 28:Staff wasn't friendly/helpful. There wasn't enough shuttle availability, and it was a bit far from the subway. They didn't clean our room the last night of our stay or put in towels. They didn't have an adequate ice machine or refrigerator in the room.
Review 29:The continental breakfast was good. There were a lot of fruit and pastry choices and hard boiled eggs. (I didn't like the coffee or orange juice though). Relatively safe area but not a convenient location.
Review 30:Iron was missing from room (they brought new one on request) and closet doors didn't slide open to access the shelves and easily came out so we left it aside for the stay. The room cards don't work if you put them near your phone so we needed to reset them a few times.
Review 31:Large quad room with kitchen was great for three people and I loved the large mirrored closet doors. The bathroom was very modern and nice. The staff were very friendly and helped us with issues we had. The lobby and hallways were modern and well kept.
Review 32:Unfortunately we couldn't check in earlier than 3pm
Review 33:The room that we got was a lot more than we expected for the price that we paid. Which was a delightful surprise. Very satisfied with my stay!
Review 34:It had a kitchen with no utensils, the tub was very slow to drain and the price was high for the location.
Review 35:It had the space for a larger family/group
Review 36:Breakfast was great, especially the freshly cut fruit but bagels every day for 10 days was a bit much. Could proactively have recommendations for apps for travel e.g. Uber, City Mapper etc
Review 37:Quiet neighbourhood Two beds
Review 38:Great location for us. Pleasant staff. Easy to walk around. The front desk girl even helped us whet our luggage in our car. The manager was super, he helped us with locating a bag we left in a taxi.
Review 39:Not for people who like a drink - it is right in the middle of the orthodox Jewish area.
Review 40:Clean hotel, pleasent helpful staff, and in a very safe area of the city. An ideal base to explore the city from.
Review 41:The location is just not right for anyone visiting NYC for the first time. It's more a hotel if you are in town to visit family close by. It's mostly a Jewish community and I found them not friendly or unapproachable. The local shop is Jewish there is not in even a seven eleven close. The station is just to far to walk to for a tourist . The breakfast is just not good, I know it's continental but it could be a lot better.
Review 42:The staff are so welcoming and helpful I just can't fault them.
Review 43:It's not really close to anything... It's only a cpl min in a cab tho.
Review 44:I ask 1009393 questions abt my reservation cause Im OCD when traveling. The staff at this hotel is amazing. They are very helpful, funny, accomadating. Always in a good mood and willing to help. This is my 2nd time here. Hotel is clean and rooms are huge. I absolutely love staying here. And would recommend it to anyone.
Review 45:I didn't like that how much I was charged the room was $535 they withheld $70 from me never knew hotels do that and I was charged even more money after an incident that had nothing to do with me which wasn't fair on my behave which was a extra $230 and for that I will not recommended any one to stay to the hotel I didn't get extra towels as I requested
Review 46:I like how comfy and cozy the hotel it is full kitchen is what I wanted everything about the hotel room was perfect
Review 47:Towels were thin. Only one real coffee packet. The other was decaf. No reason not to give out two of each.
Review 48:Spacious room. Nice bathroom. Very good continental breakfast.
Review 49:Two single beds in the room - would have prefered one double bed.
Review 50:The room was spacious, clean, modern and well appointed. Kitchen and living area were awesome! Bathroom was modern and nice, bed was small but comfortable. Free shuttle into Manhattan each morning.
Review 51:we were in town for a trade show It was a nice hotel very simple but clean and friendly the area it was in was a little bit of a walk to the subway and resturant in Williamsburg but not to far it was also very quiet and had available parking
Review 52:Hotel is far away from any services, nearest bar / restaurant is in 3 km way.. So quite far away. We were a bit disapointed for breakfast, it was every morning the same.. Only bad tasting bagels and some muffins... Coffee was horrible! I got some allergic reaction in our room, maybe some ' bad-bugs ' ?? Hotel was oldfashioned, bad smell etc... Sorry.
Review 53:Service was good. Rooms were big and clean. Wi-fi was working well. The price was ok.
Review 54:The rooms are not cozy at all, extremely big, high room, even a little scary. Some might like it, I didn't.
Review 55:Good location if you are driving, very small parking lot, if lucky can save yourself from a huge parking problem
Review 56:Parking in alley entrance was sometimes stressful. Confusing shower handle. No fridge in room.
Review 57:We enjoyed our stay. One staff member was so nice and kind! The room was big and beautiful with a huge ceiling and was clean. The parking situation wasn't the best...but it was fine overall!
Review 58:Very nice and cooperated staff , they always smile and try to help people . The manager is good and he try to solve any single problem in the hotel .
Review 59:As I read in other reviews, yes, there was some honking outside andquite late. But not over powering. Restful sleep.
Review 60:Great breakfast; hairdryer broken. Staff promt and friendly.
Review 61:10 minute walk to subway, although good connection straight to the tourist areas from Lori er street on the M train.
Review 62:Helpful staff and value for money in brooklyn. Comfy bed and good shower.
Review 63:There was nothing around the hotel in terms of eating places, didn't feel like a particularly welcoming neighbourhood. Had to walk quite a way to get to any interesting bits. Hotel a bit old and tired looking.
Review 64:Staff very helpful, snacks provided on every floor were a bonus. Room spacious
Review 65:Odd neighborhood, not many restaurants or shops nearby-a ten minute walk to Myrtle Ave. no parking.
Review 66:A clean & comfy, quiet room. Staff was helpful and upgraded us to a suite. Enjoyed our stay.
Review 67:A little walk to restaurants and Subway.
Review 68:Nice big bed. Good help from very friendly staff. Interesting surrounding in the Jewish quarter. Fair price close to NY.
Review 69:no fridge or coffeemaker, pay parking and odd neighborhood-no close restaurants
Review 70:Clean, comfy and quiet. Spacious room. Friendly staff. Decent breakfast.
Review 71:Few restaurants in the area
Review 72:the quiet community, the friendly staff, the cleanliness, the continental breakfast, the free coffee, tea, cookies, the convenient location to the Brooklyn Bridge, comfortable room
Review 73:The hotel is conveniently located, about 10 minutes walk from the nearest subway station. It's comfortable and not too expensive for New York. The breakfast is very good and varied. As the hotel is located in the hasidic neighbourood of Williambsburg, the area feels very safe and you can walk around late at night without any hassle at all. Also, it was the most thrilling experience to see the hasidic way of life. The community seems very hermetic, but the stereotype was broken when we were witnessing a Jewish wedding in the street and someone stopped by and explained the ritual. Apart from that, it's not too far to the trendy part of Williamsburg, full of bars and nightlife. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to explore not just Manhattan, but the very interesting Brooklyn.
Review 74:kitchen smells in bedroom Location in Jewish quarters can be a bit scary (but safe)
Review 75:Value for money, friendly, helpful staff Spacy room, clean Nice breakfast
Review 76:Airconditioner was very noisy.
Review 77:We had a separate kitchen with little fridge, microwave and electric stove. Parking available for $15 charge. Friendly staff.
Review 78:Limited Parking No Fridge and Microwave in the room
Review 79:Location Value for money Cleanliness Responsive and accommodating Staff Free Wifi Ambiance of the room High ceiling which makes the room bigger
Review 80:The hotel's free shuttle only ran once a day to only one spot. Kitchen supplies had to be requested. (if you have a kitchen you should have at least coffee and a kettle) no complimentary coffee, no cups etc. got a few pots and pans and paper plates, plastic forks. Fridge freezes everything. The freezer was frozen over with ice. Your bathroom has no place to put your toiletries. That boggles the mind-- no counter one has to place their stuff on the floor on a towel. You have no cable for television viewing in 2014!! Your breakfast location leaves much to be desired and the choices, bad. Most importantly you do not have an accessible entrance for the elderly or handicap. Our driver asked upon our arrival and your man said, no to his question of handicap access, the following day I saw someone come in through the side door and I assumed that must be the ramp access in the ally way. He was in a wheelchair. But if your attendant does not know the answer, then he needs training. I was a party of three adults one of whom was 86 years old with a walker. The bathroom almost did her in. What were they thinking when they installed that high tub?
Review 81:I liked some of the hotel staff as they were courteous and assisted me with the needs I had in my room and answered questions about transportation.
Review 82:Many issues getting our executive suite set up for 5 people, had to contact lobby several times for various problems (though they eventually fixed every issue)
Review 83:Very large and comfortable room, staff was attentive to our needs, hotel is in a decent area with several subway stops within walking distance.
Review 84:I felt just a little uncomfortable one evening making my transfer from the subway to the bus at Nostrand and Fulton. (I suspect that some guests just take cabs home.) Late at night, probably catching either the B62 or the B57 in downtown Brooklyn makes a little more sense, although it certainly takes longer. Overall, it took about 40 minutes to transit between Manhattan and the Pointe Plaza hotel by subway and bus. The wi-fi seemed a little slow to me, but I got by.
Review 85:Perhaps the most reasonably priced hotel one can get in New York that is clean and in a neighborhood that felt safe (at least to me.) I thought that the staff were very helpful. The hotel seemed very clean and well-kept. A free shuttle that takes guests to Manhattan (Times Square) in the morning comes with your stay. You're on your own for getting back to the hotel in the evening, however.
Review 86:Bit of trek to return from nearest subway but area is quite pleasant so no real hardship.
Review 87:Daily shuttle bus to Times Sq was useful as there are no subway stations nearby. Hotel is in a safe area. Desk staff friendly. Kitchen area could be very useful for self-caterers.
Review 88:Not very satisfied about the cleaning. We used to leave open window, but when we came back in the evening it happened to find closed window (and once also conditioning switched off), and in this situation it was possible to smell a slight, but disturbing, odour from the moquette. Further, the last day we noticed a plastic bottle (which did not belong to us, so surely was from previous guests) on the side of one bed. So, how often they clean the moquette ???
Review 89:Comfortable beds. Most staff at the reception was very helpful and gave us good directions and suggestions (especially the young girl). Free washing machines are usually available (unfortunately there was a problem during our stay, and we could not use this service). Do not expect a very good breakfast, but it is fair for the hotel price (definitively below the NY average). They offer a free shuttle at 9:30 AM for Times Square every morning. Metro station is 10-15 minutes walking.
Review 90:There isn't anything I did not like. I'm used to staying in larger hotels with a lounge/bar for a night cap however it wasn't anything that I missed and would stay again.
Review 91:The service especially. The people working the front desk were very helpful and considerate. I truly enjoyed my stay.
Review 92:with a full kitchen i expected a full set of supplies eg. pans, plates, silverware, cups, etc. Paper plates, plastic knives, forks, spoons and 2 pans were delivered upon request. (had to call 3 times) plastic knives, forks and spoons and plates makes things feel cheap for the price paid.
Review 93:separate living and bed room (executive suite) supermarket nearby free shuttle bus to time square (oneway) Quiet neighborhood kitchen
Review 94:The breakfeast could have been better, and the TV Chanel selection could have been more.
Review 95:Staff was great , the rooms were awesome, and the beds were so comfortable.
Review 96:a little far from the subway station, especially on a hot summer day
Review 97:Good value for money, nice and clean, very friendly staff, ready to assist on every request
Review 98:We liked the warm, friendly service, clean rooms and the great location, close to downtown with a free shuttle. The rates were very reasonable and well below norm in New York. We will definitely stay here again.
Review 99:The continental breakfast was not great. We had to wait for the coffee to be brewed. On Sunday the location of the breakfast was changed and there was hardly any food.
Review 100:Being in the middle of the Hasidic neighborhood was fascinating.
Review 101:A little bit far from a subway station but soon got used to it!

Review 113:Great staff. Big rooms. Quiet area. Can get to Manhattan within 30 mins.
Review 114:Old and tired.
Review 115:It was convenient for our visit with family.

Review 117:Good value, friendly
Review 118:nothing
Review 119:excellent suites very good breakfasts and great staff
Review 120:Good value for money, not far from Manhattan, big room (suite) and safe neighborhhod
Review 121:Breakfest - if you dont like sweet one, dont even think about it
Review 122:Great soft mattress
Review 123:Dirty dump. Arrived to a deserted cramp lobby no employ to check in. Empty lobby it was scary. -
Review 124:Nothing.
Review 125:Wasn't crazy about the location.
Review 126:Hotel was very clean.
Review 127:Breakfast room is small and poorly laid out, food is just okay.

Review 131:helpfull staff in every way
Review 132:convenient and friendly
Review 133:Location was within walking distance to Pratt Institute, which was why I was visiting Brooklyn.
Review 134:The hotel furniture is too old
