Reviews for Sunset Cove Beach Resort
Review 1:The resort had no record of my reservation done thru Booking.com in November, 2 months earlier. I showed them my confirmation and they said that they had never rec'd notification from that company. The breakfast was pretty bad - only cellophane-wrapped packages of pastries and some type of fruit drink. The coffee was fine.
Review 2:Free use of paddleboard and kayak. Little tiki bars on the grounds in which to hang out, play cards, or chat in the evenings. Walking distance from beachfront bar and restaurants. Despite having no record of our reservations (a situation that is not unheard of with on-line booking I was told), the desk clerk did his best to find accommodations that would suit our group.
Review 3:I couldn't swim because I don't like sea wead and jelly fish, but my husband did. I took floating mattes :)
Review 4:Beautiful, peaceful, pet friendly place. Loved warm, quiet water, where we kayaked, did pedal boarding. Manatee visited us one morning at 6:30 am. . Beautiful fish, nice snorkeling place. Just perfect place to relax after busy/hectic city life.
Review 5:we rented for four people. The couch supposed to carey 2 was broken and seaned to be a century pld.
Review 6:Its a nice little park like resort with a lot of nice ideas
Review 7:The air conditioning unit was noisy but it did the job.
Review 8:Right on the shore with a private beach. An excellent location and chilling atmosphere. Very helpful staff.
Review 9:The pics of the rv were deceptive. What looked like a modern bright roomy rv is actually an old, dark, dingy, Several cabinets were were unusable due to doors falling off the hinges. You have to walk thru the bathroom to get to the bedroom. To get tnto bed or access the small closet on the right side you have to crawl up on the bed from the bottom. Also, there is a very dangerous raised concrete slab that was covered with a rug. We arrived at night, and my husband fell xas we could not see the rise. The bed was very comfortable once you crawled up and scoot up. Not a god thing to have to do when you are over 60.
Review 10:The price
Review 11:Having to leave and go back to work. Choose this place
Review 12:Great staff great rooms right next too awesome happy hour and food at bayside. My favorite hotel in the keys. Cool looking place. Free kayak and sup boards beach. We spent our ten year anniversary here amazing
Review 13:Beautiful location and sunset was amazing to see. Facilities provided were great also. Perfect for relaxation in preparation for a long plane journey home.
Review 14:The bed was hard and the room was not the nicest but we knew what we were getting into and the views alone eclipsed any dislikes we may have had.
Review 15:The location and view were unbeatable. The room was literally on the beach just steps from the water. Sunrise was insane - missed sunset but I am sure it was even better. Place was quiet, calming - very awesome. WE loved it.
Review 16:No management on duty after 9:00 pm. Other guests were up all night having a party and had invited additional people onto the property who took up the reserved parking spaces including ours and there was no-one to contact about this. Also when we checked in we were initially given an ocean view room according to our reservation on Booking.com but after unpacking were informed by the manager that we had been given the wrong room and were made to move into a much smaller one without the ocean view. She blamed this mix up on Booking.com and told us to take it up with the website. She also said she would apply a discount to my CC which she did not do.
Review 17:Location and park like setting of the property.
Review 18:Not really a big problem but space in the 'shacks' was very economical.
Review 19:Lovely individual 'shacks'. Very reminiscent of the hippy era. Laid back feeling. Interesting places to sit - ie hammocks. table and chairs by an effective water-fall, tables and chairs around a BBQ - all under straw rooves. Beautiful little beach with sun loungers, free canoes and paddle boards. Next door along the beach an excellent beach restaurant with really good live music every evening (rhythm and blues/ 60s). People both at Sunset Cove and next door extremely friendly. Nothing was too much trouble.
Review 20:Security concerns . Easily accessible, little security at night, in particular. Breakfast is not the accurate word applicable here. It is more like coffee/ OJ.
Review 21:Fully equipped kitchen. Good location.
Review 22:I thought the bed was too firm for my taste. I didn't like the kitchenette. The a/c was too loud. It woke me up every time it shut on or off and the walls are thin. I could hear all of the talking outside and since it was so close to the beach people were up all night.
Review 23:The location and property was sublime. The proximity to the bar was cool I liked the decor of the room and the grounds.
Review 24:Can hear everything between walls.
Review 25:Nice bar and grill next door. Good dock, lounging areas, and water equipment. Had a nice little area for the kids to snorkel. Shops, food and other convenience facilities just a stones throw away.
Review 26:The beds werent real comfy but manageable. Need a exhaust fan in the bathroom. More selection at breakfast....even just sausage biscuits, fruit, yogurt, boiled eggs. Bagged pastries and coffee is not enough.:(
Review 27:The place is super cute and reminded up old florida. We stayed her over 20 years ago and wanted our boys to see the place. It looked the same...which we loved!! Cute and comfy cottages painted in beautiful florida colora. My 11 year old spent much time catching iguanas. Love the cove and all the seating availabe in sun or shade. We used the provided kayaks and snorkel equipment. They also have SUP that were very popular. Meet some really nice people. We were able tobwalk to dinner one night. Highly recommend ms macs kitchen....key lime is a must!! We would highly recommend Sunset Cove ans will be back!!!
Review 28:Where do we begin!!! The whole place was a let down, after 2 nights and speaking with staff they did give us a refund, needs complete up dating, needs car parking to be relocated so it's not near beach were children play!!!! Rooms are of poor condition, air con above head, blinds don't work! To be honest we were very disappointed and I could go on and on.
Review 29:The sun!!!!!
Review 30:They advertise a beach and I did not consider them having a swimmable beach.
Review 31:The room was very clean and the staff were all very helpful and friendly. Close to restaurants and bars within a walkable distance.
Review 32:Unfortunately, there is one thing that I didn' like was theydidn't provide a real breakfast. Outs only coffee, juice and donuts. It was more like a small snack. The good thing is there it'sDenny's and Burger King you can buy our dine there to eat.
Review 33:I enjoyed the kayaking that already included once book. The environmentit's very pleasant. I had the Tiki Suite and my room was great. Therestaurant is walking distance. Wish I had more time. There a statepark that is near by that I didn't get the chance to visit, andnear by fishing.
Review 34:Our shower in the cabin lacked hot water. When I broughf it to their attention, their response was I could take a shower in a public access restroom with no a/c. Imagine biking & kayaking in 90 degree weather, then taking an ice cold shower. Not fun!
Review 35:Watching the sunset from the pier was great! Loved access to outdoor activities, including kayaks.
Review 36:they didn't alliw us to stay a minute in the property after check out, in all other hotels the guess is allow to stay on the facilities after normal room check out, it's ridiculus
Review 37:the areas are great overall
Review 38:Some of the cottages could use a little updating but this would not deter us from staying here in the future.
Review 39:Little cottages or trailers with access to a small beach and fishing pier. The place was an excellent choice because of the included outside amenities such as pavilions, canoe and kayaks, and beach equipment. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful (more so than most places we stayed)!!
Review 40:location superb right on the harbour and within walking distance of tin city and all that naples has to offer. Plenty of bars and restaurants near enough to walk ,and a little further to the fantastic beach.
Review 41:Charming property, great location, and friendly staff. The resort is in close proximity to restaurants, bars, and shopping...yet tucked away to make you feel like your're on a privat beach. Lovely accommodations, clean and cheerful..really allowed us to feel the charm of the Florida Keys.
Review 42:There were some antS in the room and the private beach is small.
Review 43:Free kayak rentals. Friendly staff. Comfortable cabin. Great restaurants in walking distance. quirky keys feel.
Review 44:The cottage was quite small.
Review 45:The surroundinds are very pleasant. There are hammocks, a little fountain, grill, a hut and chairs at the beach. Beautiful sunset at the pier. We saw dolphins. There is pleasant bar next door with live music but very quiet after 10pm. Coffee and biscuits in the morning. Clean and simple. Food next door at Mrs Mac's is delicious.
Review 46:We turned up in the evening and found nobody around and no way of locating anyone, so we had to wait a while to get checked in.
Review 47:The location is right by the beach and the little hut we had (the Tiki Suite) was great.
Review 48:We loved everything!!! The sunsets were awesome. Our quaint Villa was so clean. Folks were nice. This is a tropical get-away. Restaurants are within walking distances. Please plan your next vacation there. P.S. We left our toiletry bag in our room upon checkout. We contacted them and they sent our bag via UPS immediately!
Review 49:The bed in the room was not comfortable at all. It was definitely past it's prime, ages ago.
Review 50:The location was by far the best part of staying at the resort. Our room was so close to the water it was practically on the water. Checkin and checkout was seamless.
Review 51:Outdoor lights stayed on all night and curtains could not conceal the brightness. Big cockroach in kitchen. Use of kayaks and canoes limited to certain hours of day. Not a real beach, per se. Lots of highway traffic noise. Free breakfast consisted of pastry in plastic wrappers, powdered orange juice, and coffee....skip it.
Review 52:Great dock for viewing the sunset, but very small. Eat at Mrs. Mac's Restaurant - GREAT!!
Review 53:The grounds...really cute! Cute statues, tiki huts, bbq pit. A lot of character. The beach was picture perfect. Free use of kayaks was icing on the cake. We loved the little cottage we were in. It was clean which is most important to me. The furniture was a little dated and the building itself was sort of a manufactured home but I think that just added to the character of the place. Loved it!!!
Review 54:Not all cottages have porches or views. Those that do are significantly more per night. The beach is much smaller than we're used to (but, hey, the water's warm as toast in February!)
Review 55:The natural setting is incredible. Given how overpriced everything in Southern Florida is, Sunset Cove is a bargain. Accommodating staff and pleasant fellow guests. Good covered seating and eating areas (shared BBQ) on the grounds. Sunset Cove's exteriors reminded me of the drive-ins we used to go to in the mid 60's. Good walking access to dining and drinking establishments. Really quirky and fun place for a night or two!
Review 56:The continental breakfast was OK, but nothing to write home about: coffee, packaged Danish, artificial orange-colored drink, but perfectly fine for the type of lodging and price.
Review 57:This is a classic 50's Florida cabin park, with a setting straight out of a movie. The cabin - Hideaway - was small but comfortable and very conveniently located. Staff was helpful in suggestion places to eat.
Review 58:Over-charging for a room is not cool... Since we came home from our trip I called about the over-charge and she said she was busy and left me hanging for a good 5 minutes... I still am going to call her to credit me, if she doesn't I will call the better business bureau....
Review 59:Nothing....
Review 60:WiFi - had to go outside the room to access it most of the time
Review 61:Everything! Stayed in the Pelican Room and woke in the morning to the gentle lapping sounds of the water hitting the shoreline. The bed was comfy and the room was clean. The staff was friendly and accommodating. There are great eating & drinking establishments close by too. The sunsets were glorious!
Review 62:room offerings are tacked together, including at least 3 in trailers/caravans; and the mattresses are old. We were told new mattresses were about to arrive
Review 63:The people who run the place, the beachfront, the large paper mache animals on the grounds
Review 64:Compared to our other places we stayed during our 5-weeks travel the staff here was not really what stuff in the other places were. I son't know why but the felt we are only one-night stand? Not a smart approach
Review 65:convenient lication - waterfront, close to John Penneham state park
Review 66:Too short of a stay..
Review 67:Spent New years eve and New years day at this quaint tropical paridise..We are locals to florida living,so we are very familar to the states beautiful weather and relaxed atmosphere..This resort is truly an oasis. We will always consider this our favorite get away!!
Review 68:The room we had booked on Booking.com was not what we got. We had specifically chosen a unit well away from the road, but we got put in one close to the road. Disappointing.
Review 69:The view to the sunset was great. The canoes, kayaks and boards available free was also great. A manatee came up to the wharf while we were there. Very relaxing beachside.
Review 70:Dangerous electrics ! Breakfast is a joke ! Didn't get to use kayaks as they said it was to windy one day and the next day it might rain so couldn't take them out . So went out and had to pay to hire them elsewhere the weather wasn't an issue ! On our road trip through america was the worst place I stayed !!!!!!!!!!!
Review 71:Our bed was dented in middle so we rolled into the middle. A/C kept shutting on and off all night long. Dock is falling apart.
Review 72:Wonderful location on the bayside. Next store was the Bayside grill which had excellent food and live music. It was okay for one night. Had no chairs or table to sit at. We were able to sit at tables outside for breakfast which was very pleasant. Water was very clean for a swim.
Review 73:No Wifi, breakfast is not worth the effort. A bit run down and tacky looking.
Review 74:The place is OK, not great. Location OK, has beach access but not a lot. Basically the bottom of the market, but not pretending to be more.
Review 75:right on the beach that's for sure. Not many restaurants around though so you are kind of stuck for somewhere to go. But, next door they are good. The sunset on the beach is perfect.
Review 76:Beach is not good for swimming Broken paddle boards and other dilapidated equipment for use They allow pets in other rooms, making it noisy for other patrons No fan in bathroom
Review 77:Lots of personality Great price for sleeping a group of people Near restaurants, grocery stores, and entertainment Easy to find Comfortable Places to lounge and enjoy
Review 78:The wi-fi connection was not working very well in the room (better in the common areas outside the cottage).
Review 79:The resort has a private beach, with free sunbeds available for the guests; the beach is a good place to enjoy the sunset. They provide also free rental of kayaks/canoes and related equipment. Our cottage for 3 guests was not very spacious, but clean and well-equipped. The manager of the resort was always kind and supportive with our requests.
Review 80:the bed could have been a little more comfortable, but all and all it was a good experience
Review 81:great location, very comfortable and hassle free. Will go back again
Review 82:Missing towel bars, damaged bathroom door, sink didn't drain properly, very small room, disappointing for the cost.
Review 83:The bed was clean and comfortable.
Review 84:Wifi was horrible in trying to display our captured moments for social media connections. Yet, I guess your on vacation it's best to do it the old fashion way. Wait till y'all get back. :)
Review 85:The resort was very nice & relaxing. Resorts beach access nice, Kayaks were awesome, not enough time really, yet Free with rental. Boat/Dock/Pier was nice, Beautiful location. Nice atmosphere. Great place to chill... I'll do it again.
Review 86:There were only two things that I did not love and the first was the pull out couch was hideous! We had 4 in our party and the two in the main bed were comfy but the other two in the pull out couch had springs in back and could not sleep . There really need to be upgraded! The secknd was no hot water. So good thing it was hot outside because the showers were freezing!
Review 87:I loved the cute tiki suite it was a perfect size and comfortable. The free kayaks and paddle boards were a huge plus and kept my kids entertained! I love the location!
Review 88:The water was very rocky & full of seaweed for quite a distance.
Review 89:The room was clean & comfortable. The lounges near the water were a nice place to relax.
Review 90:Sunset Cove should have a higher score. If top pristine hotel is your bag then it is not for you but if you want character, quaint and friendly Sunset Cove is perfect. An extra bed was supplied at a mere $10 and was very comfortable. Lovely sunset.
Review 91:The room was ok but there were lots of roches in the room and during evevening there is no one at the front desk . There is no breakfast , just orange juice ..
Review 92:Traffic sounds from Overseas hwy
Review 93:Many quiet areas to sit and read or nap in the hammocks. Gazebos on the beach, proximity to shops and restaurants, helpful staff,
Review 94:Pelican room bathroom lacked some features like shelves, towel bars etc. Beach ok but that area is not so great for swimming, very shallow, jellyfish.
Review 95:Location was great, sunset was nice
Review 96:the 'Hideaway" that we chose to stay in was not as the picture shows. It's very small and not recommended for anyone over 6ft tall. It's basically a shed with a built on bathroom. But was clean. I would not stay in that one again.
Review 97:clean & quiet
Review 98:The Sand Dollar room was very tight, the bed is right up against the wall, very minor.....
Review 99:The property is close to my fishing spot. I normally will go a little father down the keys to stay for the night, but I found Sunset Cove Resort, and loved it ! The facility is well maintained and cozy. The beach area was full of people snorkeling and boating, and swimming.
Review 100:Friendly staff, good location, good facilities.
Review 101:The A/C system was on directly on the bed. Need to stop it if you don't want to get the air on your head!
Review 102:Close to the beach, nice view.
Review 103:Had to leave and go back to work
Review 104:It was convincing of the location. The staff was friendly. Beautiful view. It was very quiet. !!
Review 105:Would have liked a kitchenette
Review 106:It was like being in the Caribbean with the tiki huts and the water ski close. Loved it
Review 107:I have a garden shed that is better equipped
Review 108:Location
Review 109:Very close to beach
Review 110:Very clean. Cool Florida vibe. On the beach. Outstanding value.
Review 111:Nothing
Review 112:Nice cozy place next to a Tiki Bar, Awesome Sunset, Friendly staff, paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes included in price.
Review 113:Breakfast
Review 114:Private beach
Review 115:Breakfast was uninspired.
Review 116:Location was great. Really like the restaurant/bar next door. The resort was pleasantly eclectic and clean.
Review 117:Very clean, kitchen facility is very useful.
Review 118:Poor beds
Review 119:Small boat ramp, unless your launching a jet ski dont even attempt, limited parking
Review 120:clean room nice cottage!
Review 121:Every one in our group enjoyed the layed back atmosphere. The pups liked the grass. We'll never forget the beautiful sunset.
Review 122:Size of shower, limited hot water supply, dead bugs on floor.
Review 123:I would have liked the use of the kayaks and paddle board if we had stayed linger
Review 124:Locattion
Review 125:Our boys loved the dock and fishing, easy access to swimming and walking distance to restaurants and Starbucks!
Review 126:Absolutely nothing
Review 127:People
Review 128:we didn't have working WIFI in the rooms.
Review 129:rooms were cozy and staff was friendly. The beach area was nice.
Review 130:General ambience and great sunsets.
