Reviews for Volcano Cottage

Review 1:Cottage is cold in poor weather, wood burner is needed but obviously it goes out over night and mornings are cold.

Review 2:A very cosy cottage that was well equipped. The bed was comfortable and warm. Nice log burner which was needed as it was cold.

Review 3:It was not easy to find the place during the night. Very dark. Some furniture are bit old but it's not a problem at all for us.

Review 4:Very comfortable and quiet place for a family. Everything was very clean with nice instructions. I like the fireplace although I didn't get chance to use it (Too tired to start fire after go back to the house) so it was a bit cold during the night.

Review 5:You cannot have a fire in the wood-burning stove without the smoke coming into the room. You cannot. You can call and they will tell you to adjust the stove door, the kindling, etc etc. But the stove pipe leaks out where it goes up into the ceiling - as in smoke pouring out into the room. This happened both times I was in this cottage. It doesn't matter if the weather is mild. But do not go in winter and think you can have a fire to warm you up. The smoke alarm was removed from the property, so obviously other renters have had this same problem. There is one tiny electric space heater. No central heat. And again, the wood burning stove is unusable.

Review 6:Everthing other than no heat or fire availability is excellent. Have stayed here twice, in February 2010 and then again January 2015.

Review 7:Locked box for the key was very stiff and difficult to open. No one to ring when we had a problem (when you are outside and can't get in). Also the house was very cold. Only the wood fire available (which we couldn't get started without setting off the fire alarm).

Review 8:Location - very handy to the Volcano park.Clean and comfortable. Lovely garden aspect. Games and books provided. Would stay again.

Review 9:The housekeeper should have probably turned on the dehumidifier before we arrived because the day was wet and the cottage felt damp.

Review 10:The cottage was very spacious, clean and convenient to the national park. The procedure for using the lock box to get in and out of the cottage was easy and the guilts on the beds were attractive. It ended up being half the cost of staying at Volcano House where we had stayed previously.

Review 11:Could not get CD player to work but that was probably my own ineptness

Review 12:Been doing Volcano for 40 years and this place stacks up at the top, roomy, clean, well equipped kitchen, comfy living room and bedrooms, master bedroom bed and accompanying linens very comfortable and clean, bathrooms clean, floors & rugs clean, tub shower combo in both bathrooms for soaking...just perfect for one or two couples or a family of 4 if kids can sleep together in same bed...I would stay there again...(couple 69 & 58)...

Review 13:The kitchen equipment was limited. One wine glass, very poor wine opener, only two cups, no salt and pepper. The showers were difficult to operate and there wasn't a plug for the bath. The lighters for the fireplace didn't operate.

Review 14:The tropical garden was fantastic. Our boys discovered a secret path in the back and built a teepee out of fern stems. The cottage was homey and the beds comfortable.

Review 15:Very difficult to find without GPS or iPhone. The bet was not very clean and I think this could be improved.

Review 16:Very nice cottage and everything is there which you Need.

Review 17:5th person had to sleep on a thin fold up mattress on the floor. It was ok for me teenage don but not for an adult

Review 18:Comfortable beds, excellent kitchen and laundry

Review 19:the only heating was with a wood heater that was unvented! If the door was closed the fire went out, and if it was left ajar smoke came out. Most modern wood heaters have an adjustable air vent low in the firebox that does not let smoke out. Very bad design.

Review 20:nice roomy house in a quiet location

Review 21:Dampness

Review 22:Cozy tucked away isolated

Review 23:Loved the location, quite and private. Really like the home and its lay out and the roominess.

Review 24:Could not get the wood stove to work. Slept great under the covers but was cold before bed

Review 25:The setting was beautiful

Review 26:Very clean, immaculately furnished and maintained, great kitchen

Review 27:Nothing

Review 28:We like everything there. Enjoy the stay there, quiet and comfort, very private, feel like staying at home.

Review 29:The only light inconvenience is that there are not a lot of infstracture around. You should buy food if you want to have it in the cottage beforehand, the only shop near by is not working in the night. There are several restaurants around but one should have wait a lot to be seated. It was just before the New Year's Eve though, so on other dates it is probably not the case.

Review 30:The cottage is very big, comfortable. Everything is new and clean. It is remarkable that it's prepared very carefully for your stay, lots of details that made our presence there extremely nice. There is a fireplace and everything was prepared to use it and it was easy. There is a washing machine and a dryer. Lots of cuttlery and just anything you may need. We felt perfectly comfortable there. The location is great - just 5 minutes from the entrance to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Review 31:Wifi didn't function.

Review 32:The house was well stocked and super clean. Great house.
