Reviews for Des Moines Inn

Review 1:Splatters on the walls of who knows what. Whole room had a grimy feel.Outside of hairdryer was coated and sticky. Shower curtain disgusting.Good thing I carry Clorox wipes. Wiped down all electric face plates, door handles, faucets and toilet seat. Caught a glimpse of where foodprep was done for free breakfast, yuck, and we left.

Review 2:Front desk person was friendly. Hotel convenient to why we were in town.Towels and the sheets were clean as we could smell the bleach.

Review 3:The place was "ok" just seemed overpriced for what it was - more Hotel 8ish than a step up from that.

Review 4:Location directly off and then direct access to I-80.

Review 5:Over priced for the accommodation. I would have considered it nice at $60.00 not so nice for $100.00. My wife and I have spent allot of time in hotels in the last year all over the Midwest, in no less then 7 states, ranging in price from 50-200/ night. Only in Colorado did we experience similar cost to value disappointment.

Review 6:If you are looking for the Des Moines Inn, you will not find it. This use to be a Comfort Inn and that is the signage that you'll find out front.

Review 7:The rooms, hallway, and entrance all looked great. The pictures were VERY accurate! The breakfast was great! The beds and pillows were very comfy, no achy neck or back in the morning.

Review 8:The name wasn't changed to Des Moines Inn yet made it difficult to find hotel. The pool was to cold to swim. The hot tub was covered.

Review 9:Staff friendly and helpful breakfast was good

Review 10:Bed was a little hard. Speaking of hard, I wish they had something better to grab on to in the shower... if you catch my drift.

Review 11:Fairly easy to get to. Close to Adventureland. Generally clean.

Review 12:Motel a little hard to find because of the signage. We were looking for the Des Moines Inn but the Comfort Inn sign is still up. We figured it out! There was a piece of used tissue on the bathroom floor. The hand held shower head holder was broken.

Review 13:Location is right off I80.

Review 14:Name on outside hotel still had Comfort Inn instead of Des Moines Inn. A little hard to find the hotel coming in. Needs a little updating. No working jacuzzi.

Review 15:Staff friendly and helpful.

Review 16:This hotel is between franchises, and needs lots of upkeep. For instance, the bathroom exhaust fan was hanging out of the wall. There was a water main break resulting in no water the night and next morning of my stay. The price had been inflated because of the state fair, yet when I checked out I was denied any type of credit on my bill because the water main break wasn't their fault. I believe I should have been reimbursed at least to the pre-inflated rate. This experience was certainly not worth a total of $150!!!

Review 17:Lori, who checked me in was really nice.

Review 18:The only problem was that we didn't have water on the final night, not the fault of the hotel, as a water main had burst.

Review 19:The whole experience by and large was extremely pleasant, making for a wonderful honeymoon. They even made extended our visit an extra night so we could stay and see Toto quite simple.

Review 20:the hotel was a Comfort Inn until recently; still had the sign up; its road address was not visible from road, so it was impossible to recognize the hotel from its advertised name as Des Moines Inn (which was not signed) - hopefully this gets rectified soon)

Review 21:good location, right beside highway

Review 22:We were on the ground floor...and there were a herd of elephants staying above us. They were up at 5:30 am on Sunday morning...parading thru the room...(I am guessing 4 occupants) I am guessing they were working the Iowa State Fair...but it woke us up (plus they had been up at 12:30am the Friday night before parading thru the room)

Review 23:Plenty of parking...easy access to interstate

Review 24:A little spendy for an older hotel; they use a powerful deodorizer I found offensive; this was a former Comfort Inn, now Des Moines Inn - signage has not been updated

Review 25:Had a good size refrigerator with freezer for our ice packs

Review 26:When we got there. We were told we had to move to the third floor. They have forgotten to set our rooms. The pool is disgusting. Our room smelled like smoke.

Review 27:Leak in wall in bathroom entry that had developed mildew. New ownership not aware of the problem as yet. Also we forgot to get s receipt so wondered how we could get one

Review 28:I arrived from the airport late (around midnight). I was happy to find out that I did not have to pay money for a cab or uber because they provided a shuttle! The driver was very friendly, and the guy who checked me in at the front desk was also friendly. Made the whole process a lot less stressful. The rooms were also clean and nice

Review 29:When I arrived, they told me I didn't have a reservation even though I was able to show them the confirmation on my app including the booking number. The first room smelled like it the carpet was wet for a few days. The second room they offered had black mold in the corners of the bathroom and the tub would not drain. The most they offered was a 25% discount. Never again will I give money to this company.

Review 30:Best part was that fact that they allowed my dog.

Review 31:Room carpet reeked of cigarettes and the hallway smelled of heavy perfumed sprays. Asked for a new room, was told all full and given fabreeze. Drove from Denver with two young kids, had to check in real late so we took the first night but had to leave hotel before the next night.

Review 32:WiFi was very good. The hot tub was nice and large. The room was spacious.

Review 33:There were large amts of unsupervised children at breakfast--part of a ball tournament. it was awful-breakfast was chaos.

Review 34:The blond lady at check in was very friendly and welcoming. Beds were very comfortable.

Review 35:The location of this hotel is a pain in the rear. The breakfast was depressing ..... Rock hard biscuits runny gravy and nasty eggs and that's when they actually refilled it. The fruit they had was old and soft. The room was clean enough I guess but the cleaning staff did not clean my room or bring extra towels or anything during my 3 day stay. The pool is tiny and has way too much clorine .

Review 36:Could hear people taking through the walls.

Review 37:Property and rooms very clean. The breakfast was great! We weren't expecting much, but there were hit eggs, sausage and biscuits and gravy.

Review 38:We got lost. Concierge was no help, was rude, condescending and ignorant. We will not stay at this hotel again.

Review 39:Clean, comfortable, well-appointed room. Excellent breakfast.

Review 40:Room was next to side entry and people conversing loudly just outside the door. This along with highway noise made it hard to sleep. Around 6:45 a dog in the next room started to bark constantly till we left about 2 hours later. Complaints to desk did not resolve issue.

Review 41:Very friendly staff, large clean room, and good hot breakfast.

Review 42:Too close to road noise, but as tired as I was I slept. Breakfast was poor. Only one Maple Syrup container, commandeered by 4 or five young girls, and empty when they left their table. No juice. Eggs barely warm, but no frost on them.

Review 43:The place appeared spotless, new, fresh

Review 44:We heard people running in the hall late at night. The pillows were too fat for my husband.

Review 45:It was clean. The pool area and hot tub were good. The breakfast was really good.

Review 46:Had a hard time finding the entrance and extremely limited parking. And with construction crews utilizing several spots for equipment was very inconvenient. There wasnt a fridge in our room and the shower pressure was non existing. Will not choose this hotel again

Review 47:The only good thing was this was right off the freeway

Review 48:It sounded as if the people upstairs from us were traveling with an elephant . A fridge and microwave would have been nice

Review 49:The staff was very friendly and helpful, breakfast service was excellent and then the coffee was always hot, which was nice.

Review 50:Wi fi didn't work. I called the front desk they didn't do anything about it. Smoke detector it was beeping I called front desk they didn't know how change the. Battery so I had to go downstairs get the battery and change it my self. People next room where making noises all night

Review 51:Eating area VERY small. Many of the patio chairs were broken. Disliked the patio being a smoking area. The room air conditioner did not seem to be working efficiently; thermostat set at 65, but room was probably closer to 75. I like 75 but it was difficult keeping the room between 72 - 75.

Review 52:Cleanliness. Friendly staff.

Review 53:I loved everything about this hotel and it'll always be the hotel I stay at when I'm in the Des Moines area. I especially LOVED the breakfast! It was the best breakfast I've had at any hotel that I've ever stayed at and I've stayed at many. I was very impressed and we really enjoyed our stay.
