Reviews for The Durango Downtown Inn

Review 1:The day we were to checkout (which checkout was at 12:00) housekeeping came to our door early in the morning to let us know we needed to be out by 11:30 and then she came again about an hour and a half later to tell us again. We did not appreciate her doing that. We felt rushed to get out.

Review 2:The people at the front desk were very nice. And it was convenient to have Applebees right next door.

Review 3:The hot tub was empty, the beds were small and very uncomfortable for two couples. Also the room was very difficult to keep a comfortable temperature.

Review 4:The location was conveniently located a short walk from Steamworks and historic Durango.

Review 5:Hot tub was broken, pool was ice cold, and there were roaches in the room.

Review 6:The only good things about this hotel were its location, and the fact that the staff was willing to refund our money. Will never stay here again, and would not recommend this place to anyone...

Review 7:I mistakenly left a ring in the room that meant a great deal to me as it had my children's names and birthstones on it. The staff called me right away and I was able to recover it the same day.

Review 8:The beds were uncomfortable and old. the pictures were misleading. Pool is small and the inn is no better than a best western. Nothing fancy

Review 9:The location is great. Staff was friendly and they had no issue with my dog.

Review 10:The carpet in the room needs replacing. Huge stains, probably water damage from the outside.

Review 11:The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The location was perfect and we were able to walk to all the restaurants and shops with ease.

Review 12:The Applebee nexdoor. Not good as others elsewhere. No fridge. Poor choice of TV stations (cable). Room interior such as furniture and carpeting need updating.

Review 13:Location

Review 14:Our room was the second to last at the end of the complex on the second floor. We could hear the traffic from the road running next to it. We could also hear the people in the room next to us. At 3:30 a.m. we were awakened with shouts from two drunks on said road.

Review 15:The staff was friendly however if there was a continental breakfast or coffee available we were not informed of it.

Review 16:The room was located at the end of the building with streets on two sides of us. There was a lot of traffic and people hanging out late at night. It felt like a $49 a night hotel.

Review 17:I liked the staff

Review 18:The only bad thing they only had a smoking room left and we took it, I didn't like the smell at all.

Review 19:Location is great, you can walk to the train station and main streets. The room and the bathroom were very clean, love the river in the back. I would definitely go back.

Review 20:Air conditioning was not great in that it cut off a lot in the nite. Not a consistent comfort zone. Did not like outside light which was on all nite and interfered with my sleep.

Review 21:Closeness to Main Street, Durango where we could walk to everything. Great location fit shopping, dining, and activities.

Review 22:Upon arriving we noticed the hotel was pet friendly. My husband has bad allergies and the young man behind the counter took time to find a room that hadn't had a pet in it for the last year. This made our stay much more pleasant. The hotel was close to the train station and walkable.

Review 23:We were on the bottom floor in the back of the building with a view of the parking lot and grocery store. Such a shame since Durango has such beautiful views of the mountains. Also, we had no shower curtain! That was pretty inconvenient.

Review 24:The hotel staff was friendly. The hotel is close to downtown, restaurants, bars, shopping. Very convenient. Also, nice that they take pets for minimal charge.

Review 25:Wifi was marginal at least in our rooms. Not a deal killer unless I would have had to vpn in for work.

Review 26:Staying over Spring Break with all my clan (6 in all including a baby). We were well taken care of and the rooms were what we expected-clean and comfortable.

Review 27:For the price, I can't complain - we had a great stay. This is one of the few places that didn't include a "complimentary" breakfast... But for $50 cheaper/night, I'll happily go find my own.

Review 28:We were right across the street from all the action in downtown Durango. The staff was very friendly and helpful, even upgrading our room. We didn't have to mess with parking; we were less than a quarter mile away so we just walked everywhere! They have a nice pool, exercise room and free WiFi.

Review 29:It's a little glitch in the system. we had requested a wake up call as we had an early flight to catch and it was the first day of daylight savings time. Their automated system called an hour late but luckily our iPhones had changed times and woke us up at on time.

Review 30:Quiet location next to the river. And just a few blocks into town and all the best restaurants and shopping.

Review 31:I left a wake-up call at the desk for 6:00am and they called the room at 6:13am.

Review 32:The location was really good for the plans we had during our stay in Durango.

Review 33:-Housekeeping was a little to persistent for my liking , woken up on sunday morning at 8:40am was a non plus. -The traffic (both driving and foot) echo'ed loudly. -Get an internal room against the courtyard to minimize this.

Review 34:Location is EXCELLENT for walking Old Durango Check in staff were excellent Amenities looked clean, functioning and safe. Parking was close and well lit

Review 35:Large stains on carpet areas, shoebox size room, a relic from the 60s. $164.00/night for this!! Understand from staff it will be closed and torn down in a year or so - cannot come soon enough! Manager provided 25% rebate based on poor condition of room's carpets.

Review 36:Easy walking proximity to Main Street. Front desk staff helpful.

Review 37:Some concrete repairs need to be redone outside on second floor walkways, homeless people were out back looking for handouts when people were leaving in the morning.

Review 38:Proximity to Applebee's, friendly and informative staff, tourist information, comfortable beds, clean comfortable room, view of the river, late checkout time.

Review 39:Beds are too small. Carpeting needs to be replaced.

Review 40:Great to be so close to downtown and the river walk. Staff was so friendly. Clean bathroom, good shower (I appreciate).

Review 41:I pay over $150 for a room that looks and feels like Motel 6. I walked around barefoot in my room and the bottoms of my feet were black. I was expecting a lot more luxury and comfort for price paid

Review 42:The view of the river behind the hotel, the Applebee's next door, friendly staff, clean linens, and location.

Review 43:Nothing

Review 44:Registration desk, super, mr. Chun, very friendly. Room very clean, bed was great. Take ear plugs, you may need them if close to the highway. Slept like a baby!!!

Review 45:Minor dislike was no breakfast facilities on location, but easy walk to nearby food establishments.

Review 46:Very pleasant place to use as a home base for Durango activities. We were able to choose which view and the area to the rear of the hotel had a lovely creek running along side.

Review 47:To be better value for money the rooms need a refurb, particularly the carpets ( or at least a deep shampoo) plus a refrigerator (putting one in each room would cost less than one night's room rate).

Review 48:Close to Durango town and on river, with pleasant walks. Good site restaurant (Applebee's) on site and supermarket opposite. Room good size with table and two chairs, enabling comfort for eating in room. Car parked outside room. Cleaner did a great job

Review 49:For anyone passing thru Durango and looking for somewhere near the downtown scene, this is the best value within walking distance of all the restaurants and bars.

Review 50:They could not get our WiFi working but we were told they would take $50 off our bill, they have not done so. The girl I spoke with regarding our bill was rude, informed me I "was not listening" not real nice at all.

Review 51:The river side was great. Brandon was trying so hard to be helpful. Great location for walking to train and downtown.

Review 52:No breakfast included, but a Denny's restaurant is conveniently located just across the street.

Review 53:Clean, huge and comfy room, great location just a couple of blocks from downtown Durango. There are sunbeds in the patio if you wish to relax for a while.

Review 54:No breakfast! There was red stuff on the bottom of the toilet..gross Not enough parking for the rooms in back

Review 55:That I could have my dog Front desk staff always very curtious You could walk to Mian easy The river and bike path

Review 56:On line registrants get rooms near traffic. Thin walls little noise resistance. Lots of motorcycles and trucks from 6 am on. No breakfast. Attached to Applebee's next door but no breakfast. Toilet paper and tissues ran out. Cleaning staff left cleaning rags in room. Go elsewhere.

Review 57:Convenient

Review 58:Close to road so rooms at front could be noisy.

Review 59:Friendly staff, location was brilliant as we were booked on the Durango railroad trip to silverton. Would stay here again.

Review 60:Expensive for what was basically a motel room - almost twice the price we paid for a similar room in Moab.

Review 61:Handy for downtown Durango - only 2 blocks walk.

Review 62:Loud visitors could be heard outside in parking area. Inn was more like a motel.

Review 63:Walking distance to Durango-Silverton train and downtown area.River behind Inn.

Review 64:I booked very late--about twenty minutes before I arrived (flight delayed, unexpectedly needed to spend an extra night) and the price was quite reasonable. Five minute walk from downtown, river view on one side.

Review 65:It would have been nice to have a small refrigerator and microwave since there are no meal options with the hotel.

Review 66:Perfect location for visiting Durango. Walking distance to downtown area and river is really just past the parking lot.

Review 67:four (at least) bugs were killed during our one night stay (spiders in the bathroom) and little long bugs in the carpet

Review 68:indoor pool/hot tub were wonderful for the kids (two boys aged nine)....the location was perfect...walking distance to restaurants....wish we had had time to stay another day

Review 69:The clerk told me that booking.com over booked me and the only room she had left was a handicapped room but right in front if me she gave away my room to a couple who just called several minutes before and then asked to stay another night and the clerk said "no problem" Then the room she gave me was musty and the shower pan was cracked on the bottom There was mold growing around the tile of the shower where it leaked There was no blow dryer in the room i had to call the front desk for one and i was told there should be one there so they had housekeeping send me one Then the next day we left our room at 10 am and returned at 3 pm expecting to take showers but we returned to find our room wasnt even cleaned yet I called the front desk again and was assured that they would get to it so we had to vacate our room and busy ourselves for an hour which totally ruined our plans for the day. I would never stay here again nor would i recommend this place to anyone else

Review 70:Location was the onlything this place had going for it It was literally on the river walk and 2 blocks walking distance from downtown which made it barely tolerable

Review 71:The hotal was nice but whin going to bed we pull the sheets back to find blood in the sheets ,trash in the drawers and the coffee maker had mold in it althoe we love the hotal i found the room to be dirty and just gross

Review 72:The Location of the hotal was great but the rooms wear bad

Review 73:The bathroom was so small it was even difficult to close the door once inside. It is an old Holiday Inn and still has that appearance. The cost to stay there was outrageous.

Review 74:It was clean.

Review 75:had problems with the key card lock on my room.

Review 76:The maintenance guy was very prompt and helpful when he came to let me in my room.

Review 77:Very nice staff, clean fresh room, very close to heart of town activities. I would stay here again.

Review 78:Linens had stains and corners in Tile areas were dirty. Not much for continental breakfast.

Review 79:Good location, close to downtown.

Review 80:The location is ideal. We had a river view room and we were able to walk to historic downtown. The train station is also within walking distance.

Review 81:The facility is in need of a remodel!

Review 82:Great location and service.

Review 83:Nothing, but didn't check out the facilities so not sure how those are

Review 84:Great location, clean, nice bed, not haunted

Review 85:Right by the lovely Animas river and only a short walk from downtown Durango. Friendly, helpful staff. good facilities - especially at this price.

Review 86:Wish it had breakfast

Review 87:Nice and clean

Review 88:Although the rooms were "non-smoking" they had strong cigarette smoke smell.

Review 89:Convenient location, very close restaurant

Review 90:Pricey but it was a busy time of year

Review 91:Very close to town and shops/bars/restaurants

Review 92:Right next to old town Durango and the Animas River Trail. Perfect location.

Review 93:Wish it had a small fridge in the room

Review 94:location

Review 95:Parking lot is to small for the hotel.

Review 96:Location is great, 4 blocks to main street. 8 min walk to train station, right on the Animas river. Staff was friendly and helpful.
