Reviews for Ethan Allen Hotel
Review 1:Room furniture was damaged. Shower drain clogged. Left side of toilet half inch from wall. No refrigerator. Shower/bath fixtures damaged.
Review 2:Easy to access from Route 84.
Review 3:I was expecting the furnitures to be more clean and new.
Review 4:Its location was very convenient. My husband and I got to relax, and loved how there were two TVs in the room. I also personally loved the amenities especially their shampoo and conditioner!
Review 5:There was a coffee machine available in the room, but what about us non coffee, hot cocoa drinkers? We all need a little something to warm up.
Review 6:Loved the value! Very friendly and warm staff. Comfortable rooms!
Review 7:many reviews about how glamorous this place is, freshly renovated and refurbished. Yeah, it was... maybe 20 years ago. Shabby and rundown room - despite of having the more expensive king suite. The bar and restaurant areas are like an old pub. Room service - never picks up the phone, so technically non-existent. Menu is way below average.
Review 8:Not much
Review 9:Sheets seemed either too starchy or they were new and put them on prior to washing. But at least they were clean!
Review 10:I liked everything! Better then most 5 star hotels!
Review 11:Weird toilet location in the bathroom. Bruch Buffet on Sunday was nice but I found it expensive!!!
Review 12:From check-in to check-out this was a very pleasant experience. Friendly and accommodating!!! Got upgraded to a suite which gave us (mom with adult daughter) a little extra room to spread out - which women always can use!!! Lovely décor and a must to check out the Design Center next door!!!!
Review 13:Room not as exspected a little dark lighting not great ,very surprised no frig in room ,remote needed batteries on and off working .
Review 14:The lobby was beautiful as one would expect ,friendly staff, like keurig in room
Review 15:There is no elevator near the lobby and for someone needing to avoid stairs, the long walk to the lone elevator is ridiculous. No valet to take your luggage to room - they have DIY rolling carriers, which doesn't help you go up stairs.
Review 16:Room comfy and not cramped. Hotel right off the highway and parking fairly easy. Quiet at rooms and lobby and hotel staff friendly.Plenty seating in lobby for waiting.
Review 17:The courteous, efficient service of Clifton and Ms. J in housekeeping were far above the norm. The bartender and breakfast staff were also exceptionally welcoming and proficient: much appreciated. We'll be back.
Review 18:That I paid a lot of money to stay in this room for 4 days and had two broken TVs and a clogged shower. Maintenance came twice. Not worth the money and aggravation.
Review 19:The location is great. Close to shops.
Review 20:This property (or the room that I stayed in) did not have thermalwindows. It was barely below freezing, yet a cold draft zipped down thewall and onto the floor. It was like I was in a budget motel on a sub-zero night, right down to the frigid bathroom. The lobby is beautiful, but the rooms are nothing special and next time I'll opt for a bigchain hotel.
Review 21:Room service breakfast came really fast, and even though the toast wasmissing it was tasty.
Review 22:Staff wouldn't bring water to my room at first. Asked for me to come down. Also, control didn't work but i got it fixed. Lastly, when I asked for mouthwash, they said they couldn't bring it up because the tech guy was on his way to fix the remote. wasn't so leisurely.
Review 23:comfortable bed. clean. nice decor
Review 24:The hotel staff could have been friendlier and more welcoming.
Review 25:The hotel was stylish and comfortable. The bed (and bedding) was excellent, as well as the room furnishings.
Review 26:Not a bad comment, but more of a suggestion. Would have liked a bigger selection of smaller meals in the room service selection. We wound up ordering pizza and didn't really care for it. Thanks.
Review 27:This was a stop on our vacation after Concord & Lexington. We were tired and were extremely happy how welcome we were made to feel by the staff and how comforting and pampered we felt with our accomodations.
Review 28:The bed was not comfortable. Also someone got confused and tried to enter my room at 10:30. The first floor rooms are super noisy with hallway traffic.
Review 29:The location and staff.
Review 30:Walls are too thin we can hear doors closing outside and voices in the hall and next room. They did not give enough toiletry supplies. We had to ask.
Review 31:The room was spacious and clean.
Review 32:High price for the type of facility. Room window close to parking lot (noise from parking cars). Few personnel at reception.
Review 33:Location. Very close to I84.
Review 34:I wish there had been a screen in the window. Also, we did not get the breakfast buffet. This is often included in the price of a hotel room and did not want to add another $25 to our bill.
Review 35:The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean.
Review 36:A wedding venue, meaning, it's extremely noisy until 1 am, and the wedding and their guests take priority over everything else.
Review 37:Clean and decent room sizes
Review 38:the amount priced on bookings.com did not match the amount the motel charged, quoted $99 , charged $107. PLUS an occupancy tax of $16.05, that was not fair as it was never disclosed when we booked at bookings.com. Also no free breakfast.
Review 39:the room was large, nice furniture, nice bed and pillows
Review 40:extremely poor front desk customer service
Review 41:staff was cold and not very helpful...wouldn't call a cab for me when I requested it? also when I did ask for the limo to come and get me at the train station I was told it was not available. I had checked w/ them earlier in the week ...not available? .. no explanation was available
Review 42:Thankfully there was a shuttle bus as the location was difficult for where we needed to be for the wedding. It is easy to get lost around there
Review 43:Very nice layout and setup for breakfast. We were there as guests for a local wedding and it easy to maneuver around the hotel when we arrived. Bar, breakfast and room were all conveniently located near each other.
Review 44:Size of pool for size of hotel poor. Unattended children (not fault of hotel but their parents)made sitting by the pool not a great experience.
Review 45:Great location easy access from interstate. King suite was fabulous lots of space. Clean room and very comfortable bed.
Review 46:We had a room at the front of the hotel. When the sun came up, it was extremely bright in the room. The curtains provided were just sheer white curtains.
Review 47:The waiter and waitress in the restaurant where we had breakfast were very nice and very attentive. There was a wide variety of breakfast food, which was quite yummy. The Danbury Mall is just a short car ride away around the corner.
Review 48:The pool area left alot to be desired. There were not enough loungechairs to accomodate guests, only about 10 chairs and a couple of tablesand chairs. We saw people sitting on their coolers. We were verydisappointed and did not go in to area once we saw it. Another concernwas in the bar lounge area inside the hotel. It needs updating andrepairs badly. It didn't match the rest of the hotel which wasbeautiful.
Review 49:This hotel was an above average facility. The rooms were verycomfortable and extremely clean. The lunch and dinner was excellent, andthe lounge area was perfect for what we wanted. Top shelf liquor and thebartenders, Bob and Tom, were extremely friendly and made us feel verycomfortable there. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Ethan Allen.
Review 50:The desk clerk harangued us at checkout for having a cat in our room. Reminded that the hotel advertized itself as allowing pets, she told us that that we should have reserved a "cat room." Told that their advertizement hadn't included that requirement, she continued her harangue. We won't be coming back.
Review 51:The room was clean and pleasant.
Review 52:Too much scented cleaner and deodorizer in the room. My husband was having mild asthma because of all the cleaners. Maybe more fresh air from outside would help.
Review 53:Beautiful decor, excellent staff, nice pool and courtyard. I can't say enough good things about the staff. The cucumber-mint water was a nice touch, too. I want that in my house!
Review 54:Maid service was not friendly and inhospitable - seeming to have trouble understanding English. Breakfast should be complimentary, a microwave and fridge should be available in ALL rooms. This is supposed to be a 4 Star hotel.
Review 55:It was the best sleep ever. If Ethan Allen sells the pillows the use in their rooms I am looking to purchase them.
Review 56:The pictures of the king suite and king deluxe suites were the same and are misleading. The regular king suite is much smaller and this is deceptive. I would never stay here again not recommend the hotel to anyone in my company or my employees. It never pays to be dishonest.
Review 57:When we first arrived room was to the farthest part of the hotel. this after hearing from the front desk clerk that they were not having a busy night. we got to the room the toilet was running, the tv did not work. The front desk sent down someone to fix it. Needed to print out some work documents at the business center but the printer needed repair. I asked when would it be fixed and was told she didn't know.
Review 58:The beds were nice
Review 59:Perhapes I'm used to getting coffee at no cost at other hotels. I was leaving and asked to get some in my travel mug and I was told it had to go on my hotel bill. Not cool!
Review 60:Staff was less than accommodating and really couldn't be bothered toprovide a decent level of customer service - I expected much more at aproperty such as this. Was required to produce my driver's licenseeven though it meant a trip back to the car in the pouring rain, despiteproducing credit cards with my name on them. Then front desk couldbarely bother to answer the phone when we had a question after checkingin and to top it all off, room service order was wrong and therestaurant could not be reached to rectify. Upon notifying the frontdesk that there had been a problem with our room service order, the girlbehind the desk was nonplussed and had to find a manager to deal withit, which meant crediting only the value of the meal that was wrong, ignoring the tax and inconvenience. I was really disappointed in ourtreatment at this hotel because it could have been such a funexperience.
Review 61:Building and furnishings are beautiful and the location is veryconvenient.
Review 62:Didn't get a chance to try any facilities due to late arrival & early departure
Review 63:Quick night stop on way from JFK to CT, clean quiet room & close to interstate
Review 64:To many rose bushes. Some blocked the walk path. Thorns! Needs more trash cans.
Review 65:The staff was very nice & went out of their way to accommodate us.
Review 66:The elevator access to our room led to a very long walk to get to our room. With our luggage we really needed to use a luggage cart which required the elevator and this long walk. The other alternative was the stairs, which were very close to our room, but my sister has difficulty with stairs and with the luggage it was very, very difficult.
Review 67:this was a great hotel, good location. It was clean, comfortable. Would stay here again.
Review 68:We had only one negative. The restaurant staff was not up to par. We know it was because there was one professional waitperson who also had to cover room service orders; the other was a trainee and the third did not show up. So, after a long wait to order our orders were partially wrong. We did not send back for fear of an additional long wait. The food was very good, so our thoughts are the next time we will expect much more fluid service. We were not in a hurry and we were not upset - just tired.
Review 69:When we walked into the lobby, the place was calming, efficiently laid out and beautifully decorated throughout. The suite was perfect. You could tell it was affiliated with Ethan Allen Furniture - top rated! The hotel staff was very good. The food itself was very good. We would stay again and recommend it.
Review 70:Nothing :-)
Review 71:Happy Hour = awesome. Half prices on drinks and friendly bartenders. Cute, clean hotel with fresh baked cookies every night. Workout room was adequate, but small. Front desk staff were great except for one younger woman with dark hair who seemed to work afternoon shift. Arrogant bordering on rude in my interactions with her. I just tried to steer clear. Overall, a good experience!
Review 72:The shower was absolutely horrible. Lack of water pressure and the water did not get very hot, so I had to take a luke-warm shower.
Review 73:Everything was fine except for the shower.
Review 74:We arrived before reservation downloaded at hotel. We were confirmed but our check in staff gave us more info then we needed to hear about booking online. I think they did not like our "discount". It was annoying.
Review 75:We were driving and needed a place to stay so we looked up hotels in the area and booked thru booking.com. It was fast, easy, and economical. The hotel was great.
Review 76:The lighting in the room was terrible. It was not possible to read in bed and there wasn't any way that lights could have been moved to make it conducive to reading in bed.
Review 77:The number of towels/wash cloths in the bathroom was very generous and they were fine quality. The beds were very comfortable. The room seemed very clean. The staff was very friendly.
Review 78:There was only a shear curtain on the window so we could see the light outside by the pool late at night. I could sleep no matter what but my friend needed dark to sleep.
Review 79:Beds were comfortable. Enjoyed eating the breakfast in the sun room.
Review 80:There were some bugs !!! In our bedroom , when we asked to change the room they didn't believe us and sent two guards to our room for investigation. After that they agreed to change us to the next door room. If it was not 11.30 pm I would not stay there for sure
Review 81:Nothing
Review 82:No complaints at all.
Review 83:I love to stay at this hotel. We have an annual family reunion in Ridgefield and there are a number of places to stay but I wouldn't think of changing.
Review 84:The restaurent closed @ 2140 or 0940 pm; officially at 2200 or 10 pm)before the end of European/ Continental, in other wordsinternational travelers expect dinner hours (2000-0000 or 8 pm tomidnight) and the bar didn't have food nor a menu for drinks ...apparently drinks are priced based on the fiat of the barman. I left andhad dinner in Danbury and found a great place to get a fair priced (pre-informed) beverage. I took pictures of the King Room Suite because I wasso impressed, but I will never put people I know in my business life ormy personal life in the Ethan Allen Hotel. Not worth the combinedinconvenience.
Review 85:Wonderful Architectural Digest and interior decorating ... Clintwas/is a customer service desk rockstar (we may hire hime awayfrom you) ...
Review 86:Excellent amenities in the room - all very high quality and clean - like the magnifying mirror in the bathroom and large shower head - plenty of lighting. Comfortable bed.
Review 87:Nothing I didn't like
Review 88:Elegant decor, quiet and lovely appointed rooms.
Review 89:Nothing it was a nice experience
Review 90:Nice stay
Review 91:Staff and appearance
Review 92:The staffs are helpful and the bed is very comfortable
Review 93:Staff was not helpful at desk
Review 94:Cleaniness
Review 95:Hallway carpeting was dirty.
Review 96:Renovations at my home required me to take a room. The hotel was convenient to my home.
Review 97:Curtains didn't close and room was to bright
Review 98:Bed was comfortable
Review 99:Comfortable beds and pillows! Beautiful accommodations as the name suggests.
Review 100:Size of room was a little small for two adults and two children under two years old.
Review 101:Friendly staff and clean room.
Review 102:Parking was interesting at times; food was expensive.
Review 103:Extremely helpful staff - located a (free) battery for my watch just after I arrived.
Review 104:Very nice staff. Confortable room. Nice breakfast.
Review 105:Rooms were dark and poorly lite. Bathrooms were in need of renovation, small and poorly ventilated. Had to ask for proper supply of towels.
Review 106:Not much.
Review 107:Very big room & spotless
Review 108:There was a wedding going on, so parking at night was very difficult
Review 109:A good stay overall
Review 110:The room is nicely furnished and spacious. It's cleaned everyday and quiet for good night sleep. The staffs are helpful.

Review 115:The smell
Review 116:The staff
Review 117:no complimentary breakfast, no fridge or microwave in room.
Review 118:Pool though it could of been bigger
Review 119:Front desk rude, immature and couldnt give a tosser about guests. However they were very decorative.
Review 120:Linens and beds
Review 121:Hotel needs some updating.
Review 122:The AC in our room was a little noisy.
