Reviews for Volcano Village Lodge
Review 1:That we were only there one night!!
Review 2:This is a very unique property. We enjoyed the seclusion and the tropical rainforest setting. We had a complete self-service breakfast available in the room.
Review 3:Took a bit longer to find due to the road name not showing up or incorrect on the NAV/GPS. Minor issue.
Review 4:Very serene & quiet location. Located near the entrance to Volcano National Park entrance. Well maintained facility.
Review 5:The room was quite small and did not have a sitting area apart from a lovely rocking chair out on the small verandah. Also, we felt privacy was limited with lots of glass but only very see through sun blinds on the window. Our room was just across from the hot tub.
Review 6:This lodge is in a beautiful setting amongst the fern forest . We stayed in Kilauea. The room was small, but had a very comfortable queen sized bed, a dining table and 2 dining chairs and a gas fireplace which was great for cool evenings. There was a microwave, eating utensils ( crockery & cutlery), a toaster , coffee maker , small fridge & an electric jug. There are no restaurants or shops in walking distance but Volcano Village is a few minutes drive away. We found 2 great restaurants there where you could eat in or get take out - Thai Thai had fabulous Thai food and O'helo Cafe (next to the General store) had a great menu from pizzas to lamb rack & the food was great. We took food back to our room a couple of nights which worked well. Though it is a B and B, the Lodge is not allowed to serve hot food, so a breakfast plate is provided the day before in your fridge for you to heat up.
Review 7:A trifle expensive for value received compared to other HI B&Bs. Breakfast OK but not outstanding.
Review 8:Location in rain forest. Nice wood interior & furniture.
Review 9:A very comfy quiet room in the rainforest a few minutes from the Volcano Park entrance. We stayed 2 nights to allow sufficient time for terrific hikes in the Park. We thoroughly enjoyed the Lodge and the Park.
Review 10:Gorgeous jungle seclusion. The room makes it seem like you are the only people around! The hot tub is a wonderful relaxing experience to top things off! Hi to Gino the cat! And no mosquitos!
Review 11:The location and the room. Feels like you are in a jungle. Also, only a few bungalows so no big crowd of people. Rooms are rustic chic - robes provided, we had a little electric fireplace. Nice, small deck facing vegetation with rocking chairs.
Review 12:Peaceful, tranquil setting in tropical surroundings. Breakfast was delicious, fruit plate and dishes to warm up in microwave. All the conveniences none of the hassle.
Review 13:Nothing.
Review 14:We loved this place located in tropical forest near the the volcano national Park. We certainly will return in our next Big Island travel. The octogonal room was quiet, elegant, comfortable and well appointed. The bed was confortable and every day a delicious breakfast was delivered to our room.
Review 15:Overall it appeared dark and dingy, mainly because of the dim lighting (modern LED lights would have made a huge difference).
Review 16:Very handy location for the Volcanoes Park and there was a good supply of breakfast items, including fresh fruit, cereal, juice, milk, cereal bars, coffee & teas (even chocolate-dipped strawberries for Valentine's Day!). Lots of DVDs to choose from in absence of TV signal.
Review 17:Room was quite cold upon our late arrival, plugging in the additional heater repeatedly led to a power outage in the whole room.
Review 18:Located in the middle of the rain forest; friendly staff helped to solve electricity problem;
Review 19:We loved our stay. It was quiet, beautiful, and so cozy sitting in front of the stove. We stayed at three different locations in Hawaii and this was our favorite spot.
Review 20:The blinds were too see through and we questioned our privacy.
Review 21:We had a beautiful and relaxing stay. We appreciated the quiet beautiful getaway and would like to someday return again. Thank you for providing such a wonderful place! !
Review 22:Refrigerator set a little too cold...fruit was frozen in the morning 2 comfy chairs would have been nice for us. Rockers on porch nice but chilly n wet
Review 23:Location, seclusion, attention to detail, cleanliness, atmosphere, ease of checkon checkout, felt like home but better...we were cared for!
Review 24:Tin roof made for some noise while trying to sleep during rain. We arrived in the dark - and got a bit lost, which was nervewracking because the roads are so dark and so narrow.
Review 25:Loved waking up to 3 walls of glass and a rainforest view. Gorgeous, unique property. Private bungalows. Very helpful, friendly staff. Terrific breakfast provided in room. So many extra touches provided .. from binoculars, to umbrella, to flashlight.
Review 26:Self-serve breakfast only fair; no place to put luggage comfortably; poor lighting in room that was both closet and kitchen; overall room looked better than it "lived." Also, two person hot tub disappointed -- would have preferred larger one to share with friends
Review 27:Spacious room, well furnished
Review 28:Tiny things- Parking lot was a bit tight, blinds in the room were a bit difficult.
Review 29:The Cabin, Breakfast, Staff, Dehumidifier in the cabin, Hot Tub, Location were all awesome!
Review 30:Set in middle of rain forest, was so quiet- did not hear or see anyone!!!!! Very private and cozy!!! Rooms were lovely, and every little touch was just perfect!!!! Didn't want to leave, one night was not enough.
Review 31:This charming B&B is a unique experience in tropical paradise. Amazing little find with every possible amenity you might wish... and more. Situated in the lush rainforest, quiet, brilliant starry nights with no ambient light, just a mile or two from the volcano crater & National Park. Would be wonderful to stay a week, but suspect that most folks pass through the area for just one or two nights to see the park.
Review 32:We loved our stay in volcano village lodge! Beautiful relaxing location and stunning rooms. We even had a box of chocolates on arrival! We would love to go back as it was such a calm and amazing experience!!
Review 33:We liked feeling hidden away in the rainforest.

Review 52:The lunch and dinner options in Volcano are very, very limited.
Review 53:Room was beautiful, very comfortable. Surroundings were lovely. Appreciated the daily snack basket. Breakfasts were very good.
Review 54:Having to leave!
Review 55:The rainforest view from the bed and listening to the birdsong. Closeness to Volcanoes National Park. Helpfulness of staff. The jacuzzi. Just perfect and wish we could have stayed longer.
Review 56:A bit removed. Trying to find the place at night would be a major problem, I think. The place would be rather cramped for 3 adults.
Review 57:Quiet, no one else around. Well planned and thought out as far as the breakfast situation goes.
Review 58:The location feels remote and exotic. Having our little bungalow surrounded by rainforest was romantic and peaceful. I only wish we had stayed another night to truly appreciate the serenity of this place.
Review 59:This was our fifth visit, and each time we stay in a comfortable and warm lodge, with a bountiful breakfast, prepared to visit one of the country's great national parks. Return visitors are given a complimentary bottle of wine: a nice touch.
Review 60:No CATV or network TV. Reception closes at 6:00 PM.
Review 61:Friendly service, unique charming ambiance, nice breakfast and plenty of snacks provided. Hosts thought of everything needed.
Review 62:It was cold and the little heating stove provided no heat. We left early to warm up someplace.
Review 63:Fascinating experience in the rainforest. The quiet and peaceful setting was soothing. The bed was comfy and the breakfast was good...just right.
Review 64:Everything was spic and span except under the beds! Slight oversight but it looked like it had been an oversight for some time. :( Otherwise we love the place and will definitely stay there again next time we're on Big Island; will also recommend to friends and family.
Review 65:Setting was exceptional. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Review 66:could use some minor repairs. pulls for shades fell off track every time we opened or closed shades. cobwebs around room. just a variety of things that can easily be fixed.
Review 67:beautiful property and rooms.
Review 68:We were surrounded by nature outside, and by luxury inside. The hotel was perfectly clean and well equipped. It was quiet and private. The bed was super comfortable. There were good restaurants just down the road.
Review 69:That we had to leave so soon. Stayed 1 night, would have loved another night there.
Review 70:Loved the Rain Forest outside our 3 glass sided walls and the privace, can hardly see another cabin. Staff placed nice selection of snacks, teas, etc in room. Also, short 10-15 min drive to Volcano. Good referral to Warren Costa Native Guide Hawaii which we used for private tour of volcano park.
Review 71:Excellent hotel, one of the best we have stayed in. Very peaceful and relaxing.
Review 72:Not much to dislike.
Review 73:The location in the rain forest, the comfortable bed, the breakfasts, the utility room and the cat.
