Reviews for Village Inn Motel
Review 1:Zero amenities. No hairdryer, shampoo, lotion, etc.
Review 2:Clean room. Friendly and helpful staff. I believe it was a gal named Carmen that was super helpful. :-)
Review 3:Friendly and helpful staff. They genuinely cared about you during your stay with them. Easy to get to location for the venue I needed to be at daily during my stay.
Review 4:The bed skirt was ripped hanging off the bed our non smoking room comforter had cigarette burns all over it. The ad said free wifi there was no wifi. Our room said fridge there was no fridge. Definitely not worth the money
Review 5:The staff was great. That's the only thing that dirty place has going for it.
Review 6:No wifi. Ice machine broken and no ice available. Entire facility smelled like lingering smoke. Beds were lumpy.
Review 7:Lady who checked us in was pleasant and helpful.
Review 8:The bed was a spring mattress that popped with every move. Not comfortable whatsoever. Way over priced. Noisy doors and halls with a lot of traffic most of the night. Power outage, ice machine broken, adjacent restaurant terrible meals. Very very noisy street noise.
Review 9:Water pressure was great for the shower though the bathroom was quite small.
Review 10:A guy with family issues kept talking loudly in the hallway and was confronted by several other guests --- sound-proof needs improvement. Wifi is sometimes spotty, especially between 8PM~12AM.

Review 12:Internet service was poor to none existent. Had to walk to a McDonald's to get email etc. Ice machine was out of service.
Review 13:Convenient to where I wanted to go. Handy to places to eat.
Review 14:You could here traffic driving by all night and ambulance sirens early morning. Also could hear our neighbor room get up and shower and have TV cranked up at 6 a.m.
Review 15:Very close to event center and other activities we decided to do. Gal at front desk very nice and helpful! Very cozy little room.
Review 16:We left our room Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. returning around 9:30 p.m. to find the room had not been cleaned! We were tired so asked if we could get clean towels, since the maid service was long gone. I had to go back to my room to bring the towels back to exchange. What a joke, they didn't even offer any discount, and the manager was aware of our situation.
Review 17:Checking out and leaving.
Review 18:was in a very busy location with resturant in same parking lot - lots of coming and going - my room on otherside of unit so my rest was not disturbed. Did not sleep well but was due to my health not the motel facilities.
Review 19:Older woman traveling alone - had advised didn't climb stairs well, but staff could not find available room on 1st floor - didn't try until checkin altho was noted on reservation.
Review 20:The people who worked maintenance at motel lived at motel and were nice but everywhere all day and night shower curtain needed to be changed smelled mildew
Review 21:Good location next to lots of good eating places. The price was good and parking free.Front desk people were very nice and helpful.

Review 32:older looking building. smoking room smelled like ash tray
Review 33:very friendly staff, great price for room
Review 34:Entire place smells like cigarettes. Place looks and feels dirty.

Review 42:very friendly staff
Review 43:Location, off main drag and adjacent to Village Inn Restaurant which had an excellent menu thru out the day.
Review 44:They advertised free wi-fi, but there was none available.
Review 45:The price was reasonable, and the location was real convenient to theplaces we were visiting.
Review 46:I was a bit concerned about the neighborhood, but it turned out to be just fine.
Review 47:Lovely clean room for the price and surprisingly quiet. Next door to a grocery and within walking distance of restaurants.
Review 48:Bedding was excessively worn, you could actual see through the bed sheets and pillow casings! comforter had cigaret burn holes (non smoking room). Carpeting had stains and needed cleaning. This place received a rating of 8.2?! Should be rated at 2.8. Will pass on this place next time I'm in Des Moines.
Review 49:The door to my room could have been made out of tissue paper because I heard every voice and noise in the hall.
Review 50:The staff member who checked me in was friendly and made me feel "at home" there immediately. She also was very helpful when upon getting set up in my room, I discovered the TV wasn't working right. She came to my room right away and got the channels to work.
Review 51:A ten minute drive to downtown, but well worth it for the cost savings.
Review 52:Comfortable bed. Very clean room. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great value for the price.
Review 53:The parking lot is not handicapped marked, therefore when coming in late after the wrestling meet, we had to park further away and the weather had been nasty so the parking lot was slick and my husband had his oxygen tank on wheels trying to cross the slick, bumpy parking lot. One of the spots by the front door should be marked handicap. The room is small, tight quarters. That's not really a complaint, but it's a fact.
Review 54:Reading some of the remarks, I was worried about cleanliness. It was exceptional! Very clean. There was a spot of mold on the upper wall over the shower, no big deal, it happens. Towels were changed out every day. Always got a happy hello in the lobby. We felt very safe in the motel. There is a wonderful Village Inn next door (I suggest you try the fruit & pecan whole grain pancakes! Yum!) and there was a McD's across the street. Also a grocery store to one side which also sells tickets for Wells Fargo Arena so we bought additional tickets so easily. There is a "Tavern" within a 1/2 block that has very cold beer, and a Casey's Gas Station across from that has great coffee and pastries for when we didn't get up early enough for breakfast. All in all, saving $100 a day by not staying downtown connected to the Wells Fargo, we had it made because we could get supplies for the day and buy wine or beer, and not have to walk as far to the arena (of course we had handicap parking.) The bed was very comfortable too!
Review 55:There was nothing to dis-like.
Review 56:The place was nice and clean, staff was friendly. Not fancy. We were looking for a value near the concert we were going to and that's what we got! Also, great food and service at the restaurant next door!
Review 57:The mattress springs hurt my back and my room was right outside the vending/ice machines. Each time someone used the machines I woke up.
Review 58:I like the whole experience especially the location.
Review 59:Internet access is weak in some rooms.
Review 60:I like the direct access to major arteries (streets and highways within the city of Des Moines and the staff is always helpful.
Review 61:The location as it was little too far from downtown Des Moines. A car is needed if you stay here.
Review 62:Very friendly head manager at the hotel. Rooms were clean and spacious.
Review 63:We guaranteed a king room on our credit card 3 weeks before our arrival, but were put in a room with two double beds. We were told we were onlyguaranteed a room, not what kind and they were too full and we werelucky to even get a room. They also wouldn't give us a discount. Also, about 4:30am a door started slamming about every 10 minutes foralmost 2 hours. We were told it was "detasslers" leaving. Theynever apologized. Room was dingy.
Review 64:Close to many eating establishments.
Review 65:Halls/corridors reeked of smoke; partial non-smoking facility; A/C had a distinct odour of urine; had to shut it down; no wifi (marginal complaint);door accesses to motel unsecured (anyone can walk in to the corridors!; should have card access at a minimum)
Review 66:Money value-nothing more; quality restaurants nearby
Review 67:Vanity light(for shaving) was too dim; ac controls were high--althoughac unit height I liked!
Review 68:Close to 235 and Drake Stadium; breakfast next door(10% off); bed wascomfortable! Hallways smell was really nice and clean! A.M. and P.M.staff were equally pleasant! Thanks!
Review 69:Very small bathroom. Bathroom sink in room instead of bathroom. I check the website before visit and found no hair dryer listed with the room so I brought my own. Most hotels seem to provide them now.
Review 70:Value for the money. Clean room, comfortable bed with good pillows. Friendly and helpful staff. We had a room with a microwave and small refrigerator which was very convenient.
Review 71:The lack of making long distance calls.
Review 72:Location and friendly staff, willing to help with directions and oneproblem in the room when the shower did not work. Most accommodating
Review 73:ice machine is still broken after staying here two weeks in a row. How long can it possibly take to get an ice machine repaired ?
Review 74:Staff is friendly and helpful Location is good WiFi is pretty good
Review 75:Generic Motel sign was a bit strange. The motel is behind a Village Inn restaurant, but the motel's big sign just says Motel.
Review 76:Very clean and maintained better than many places that I have stayed in at this price point.
Review 77:The ice machine did not work the entire time we were there. The pillows on the beds were flat; very uncomfortable and they said they did not have any others. I found that hard to believe. No smoking rooms ever available yet the motel never seems to be full. I am going to be staying in a motel in Des Moines, Iowa 3 nights a week from now until the end of November and you would think they would be willing to deal on the prices but they dont want to. I am able to get a cheaper rate through Booking.com than I am through them. Its a hassle to do every week and its always the same rooms available every week. I will continue to look elsewhere for a different motel.
Review 78:I stay in this motel because it is the cheapest and cleanest one I can find for the price range I can afford.
Review 79:There was no screen on my window so I could not leave the window open.
Review 80:The motel was wonderful. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff was very friendly and I would stay there again.
Review 81:It was a quiet room & the staff was very accommodating.
Review 82:No security on entrance after hours - needs locks on doors from outside for guest keys.
Review 83:It's not luxurious but quite adequate for the money.
Review 84:Hard old bed
Review 85:Economical value
Review 86:No toiletries
Review 87:quiet room
Review 88:Carmen at the front desk was very accommodating. She was friendly and made the check-in process easy for our busy day.
Review 89:entrance into hotel--had to make a U-turn every time to get in or out.
