Reviews for Olinda Country Cottages

Review 1:Some of the china was chipped. Top bunk bed had no guard rails and could not be used by any of the children. Very close to main road so children had to be supervised at all times. Children were 9, 5 and 2.

Review 2:Very friendly greeting from Owner on arrival. Excellent for a young family. Close to shops and there was a small park on next door block.

Review 3:In the family rooms the appliances are quite dated. Everything worked just fine and it didn't bother us at all but I guess it may bother some people!

Review 4:The hosts, the space in the family rooms, toys, breakfast ingredients, the garden, nearby shops and restaurants and everything to do nearby.

Review 5:There was nothing overly wrong with the place, but it is a bit tired and needs a fresh overhaul. The showerhead kept falling down and amenities were dated.

Review 6:Organic products were a promising touch and the pretty garden is suitable for child's play. Air conditioned. The owners were very friendly and accommodating.

Review 7:Kathy was lovely, we felt well cared for. The accommodation comfortable and clean. The children enjoyed the trampoline and big swing in the grounds as well as the many board games to choose from.

Review 8:Location was superb, all arrangements by staff made us feel like home, Kathy and rest of the staff members very very friendly. We are vegetarian and when we told them, they arranged fresh Spinach, parsley and tomatoes for us. Everything was organic for breakfast which was perfect. Highly recommended if you want to stay as a couple or family

Review 9:the property is quite old and the pictures are misleading. It is not very clean - the fridge and utensils and very old. The bed covers and curtains could do with a lot of cleaning!!

Review 10:The owner is very friendly and does everything to make your stay comfortable. The rooms are large and the collection of board games is excellent. They even have pin balls and hoops and a great collection of books for all ages.

Review 11:On the main Dandenong tourist road, but so is most of the tourist accommodation in the area. Proprietor was perfectly open about this, and as advised, the traffic was quiet at night. Fine inside the house, and not really a problem quite honestly for our purposes. Accommodation prices away from the road escalate accordingly!

Review 12:Owners very accommodating (we had plane problems!), and pleasant without being intrusive. Good facilities for relaxing, cooking, studying, comfortable living areas and beds, underfloor heating and wood fire too, nice bathroom, thoughtful and generous provisions in the fridge! Use of pleasant garden, about an acre. Ready access on foot to beautiful walks, all the necessary shops, and some restaurants if we didn't want to cook. Short drive/easy walk to many local attractions. Good value.

Review 13:There was little space to hang clothes. It was fairly noisy as the walls are thin.

Review 14:Organic breakfast was provided. It was quite spacious. It was very close to shops. Great for a young family.

Review 15:There was a bit of noticeable road noise at times. Some of the cabin fittings needed an upgrade or maintenance, but did not detract from our comfort.

Review 16:Our cabin was set in a beautiful location, quite close to the township of Olinda, and the national Rhododendron Gardens. The host was very friendly and made sure we had all we needed to enjoy our stay. Very generous provisions for making breakfast, tea etc.

Review 17:Beautiful Mountain location. Great place to unwind. I did a meditation each morning to the sound of birds singing their morning praises. While the rain fell gently on the stately old trees calming my mind and body. We will return to such a magical place

Review 18:The hosts Kathy and Wally were very friendly and made us feel very comfortable at the property. The quaint cottage was well looked after and gave us the sense of home away from home. The kids loved all the toys and we loved sitting infront of the fireplace with a glass of red in the evening.

Review 19:The bed was reasonably comfortable for one but the mattress seemed a bit tired and the bed frame very squeaky. I can imagine being woken by my husbands' tossing and turning had he been there with me.

Review 20:Well equipped and comfortable accommodation. I was travelling for work and it had everything I needed to be able to do work, plus some extra comforts to indulge at the end of the day. The breakfast was very generous (including fresh croissants delivered to the door!) and the staff were all very friendly and kind. There were chocolates by the bed, a library of DVDs/CDs to borrow and because it was freezing outside they were kind enough to start the heater and warm the cabin both nights before I arrived home. It's within easy walking distance to restaurants and shops and set within a beautiful town......if I didn't have to rush back for work I would've stayed longer. I've suggested to my husband that we return on holiday.

Review 21:Bunk bed not practical for a 2 year old. Had to put the mattress on the floor to stop him falling out.

Review 22:Large space. Great toys for our son. Close to a park. Friendly host.

Review 23:The cottage we stayed in is on the main road so road noise was heard through out the night. Some clowns thought they would do burn outs During the night which was annoying.

Review 24:The cottages is a quick walk to all the shops and restaurants. Our stay was comfortable and we had a nice stay. The late check out was excellent and we didn't have to rush in the morning to get out.

Review 25:Weather was not on our side, As I have a disabled husband, it would be brilliant if the accomodation was disabled freindly, so we could stay there on a regulate basis

Review 26:Great location, warm and friendly and good value or money.

Review 27:It was cozy and warm with a full range of delicious breakfast provisions. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts, including helping us with a flat battery. We were very happy with our 2 night stay at Olinda Country Cottages.

Review 28:First, the spa was amazing! I used it every night after a day of hiking. Secondly, the fire was perfect! It actually snowed one night and was cold and rainy my entire trip. Third, the location was central to what I wanted, (namely Sherbrooke Forest and Orinda Falls). Fourth, Kathy and Wally were lovely; Wally was there waiting for me when I arrived (with the fireplace started already!) and Kathy dropped by to say hi/goodbye on my last night which I thought was really nice.

Review 29:I found the separate dining/kitchen and lounge rooms suited my stay with my mum and mother-in-law. Plenty of room to move around freely in and lots of places to sit and relax. Great parking too.

Review 30:I would say the cold - but it was a great addition to enjoy the fire place & breakast in bed.

Review 31:The location speaks for itself. The owners were fantastic and accommodating & went above & beyond to ensure our weekend away was enjoyed. This included a personal drop off to a wedding via the owner. Just lovely people.

Review 32:Hosts were extremely gracious! The little touches like keeping the fire lit and providing us with food for breakfast was wonderful! We would definitely recommend/stay again

Review 33:The setting of this accommodation is beautiful - park-like, quiet and the hosts were amazing. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed, with an incredibly stocked refrigerator for breakfast and fresh bread delivered daily!

Review 34:It was so comfy and cosy, we had a long day at my daughters wedding and the lovely lady had the fire on for us when we got in late and we had a yummy complimentary breakfast the next morning. I would definitely come back.

Review 35:Nothing

Review 36:The cottage was beautiful appointed - and the owners could not have been more friendly and helpful. Plus they put on Foxtel for me especially, because I wanted to watch sport!

Review 37:Some traffic noise in morning.

Review 38:The studio was tucked in the garden after following a path draped with blooming flowers. The door opened into a welcoming spacious kitchen/ bedroom/ sitting area which had windows facing the garden. There was a small verandah with chairs which was lovely to sit out on and read a book. The bathroom was large with a wonderful spa bath that was just so luxurious after a long day natural dyeing!

Review 39:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 40:Just spent an amazing weekend here. The hosts were lovely and the location excellent as it is well positioned yet very peaceful and serene, surrounded by beautiful gardens. The provisions were above and beyond our expectations. We will be back again, soon I hope!

Review 41:Had a bit of trouble with wifi, but may have been the stormy weather.

Review 42:Gorgeous garden, balcony, playground next door, birdlife, location, short walk to cafes etc; also very central for sightseeing. Staff are very helpful.

Review 43:The kitchen could do with a review of cooking utensils / equipment.

Review 44:Kathy and Wally were the kindest hosts, they went to every length to make sure we were comfortable and well looked after (even doing our washing!) Very homely and comfortable and great for kids with toys and trampoline.

Review 45:Too bad was too warm to use the fireplace.

Review 49:The kitchen could do with a better cooker for family accommodation and the fan coming on in the kitchen every time you turn the light on was a wee bit annoying.

Review 50:It was spacious, comfortable and a great location. The childrens' books and toys were excellent as was the iphone music player.

Review 51:The big spa was a luxury as was the big king bed The fresh food for breakfast and organic choices of jam and coffee to have with fresh croissants. Review 53:Staff - Kathy and Wally were very kind, ever helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay again with them when in Olinda. Cottage - charming, spacious, clean and serene. Location - close to attractions and local shops.

Review 54:We were told, breafast ingredients will be provided on the first day of stay, but I didnt expect all the good stuffs like fresh baked grain bread, yummy jam, bacon and country free range eggs, also beautiful ground coffee..... Thank you......

Review 55:Comfortable night .. not the Ritz but very nice and well setup to entertain out of staters.. I would be happy to recommend for couples who need a nice place to lay in each others arms...

Review 56:The only downside is that the house's wifi doesn't reach the cottage, but you can enter the house to get better reception.

Review 57:The owners could not be more helpful. They pointed out interesting walks in the neighbourhood ane let me check out late to enjoy them. The nearby village of Olinda has a friendly pub. Join in the quiz night on Thursday. (The barmaid will assign you to a team, if you are travelling alone.)

Review 61:Now I'm feeling super picky, but the stove top / oven looked a little dated. But we didn't actually use it.

Review 62:The owners were friendly. On our arrival Wally warmly greeted us and showed us around the property. The facilities are basis but comfortable and clean. We stayed one night in July so it was super cold, but the 'family wing' was warm due to the cosy fire place. We would recommend to families as it's budget friendly and comfortable.
