Reviews for Nugget Casino Resort
Review 1:We could not stay longer. Had to get back.
Review 2:We just really like being there. It is a great place to stay. Staff is great good is greT the rooms have always been great.
Review 3:We didn't realize that there were 2 towers and it was a very long walk from where we stayed to access the pool and the parking.
Review 4:We have a small child and the pool is why we went back again this year....it's great to have access to it in the winter.
Review 5:We travelled with a pet- they increased their pet fee to $40 which is way overpriced considering you step out of the elevator and there's little chihuahua poop on the floor. Doubling the pet fee is exorbitant and not backing it up with cleanliness is just plain bad business.
Review 6:The distance between the casino and downtown Reno.
Review 7:I stayed in the in the tower that was not yet renovated but I honestly really liked it. I loved the 1980's feel to the room.
Review 8:Light out over entry door. Door wouldn't lock with out slamming. Express check out is done at the main desk which is not convenient at all. May as well just check out at the main desk.
Review 9:Just as good as any other.
Review 10:I would have appreciated bedside outlets for electronics -- I found none not already taken by lamps.
Review 11:The room was spacious. Because it was a corner room, there were extra windows. It was nicely appointed and very clean.
Review 12:The pool was closed, which was disappointing because we are local and the reason we decided to get a room at the nugget was because I wanted to take 5 year old to go swimming and we didn't find this out til we had gotten our room key. The supervisor upgraded us for no charge to a suite. We appreciated this!! The room and bathroom wasn't cleaned very well though. But they had already been so nice I didn't want to make a fuss. Over all a decent experience.
Review 13:The first room we got as soon as we entered it looked nothing like the room we originally wanted. When i went to lay in bed to go to sleep the bed sheets were making me real itchy, i called the front desk to change rooms to the other side of the building becuase of the inconvenience and they wanted to charge me an extra $25. To me that didn't seem right. So i switched to another room and payed the difference and it was the same incident. Didnt get a chance to sleep at all.
Review 14:The room had a jucuzzi in it.
Review 15:The room was a little outdated for what we paid for. The Hispanic waitress (Norma) was extremely rude. We requested two extra pillows and were told they were out of pillows for the night. The location wasn't all that great. It's away from the other casinos and strip. Not much to do at the place. The only bar they had with some sort of action closed at 145 am. The restaurants were not good at all. Only two options... I wouldn't stay here again for that price.
Review 16:Cleanliness
Review 17:worse service. front desk. rosies cafe. house keeping. cocktails. all bad. I worked in the casino industry for 10 years plus. this is the worse place I've been a guest at
Review 18:The fact that my pet was welcomed was the besr thing ever. I wish I had time to enjoy the beautiful pool. The cocktail waitress Melody was extraordinarily wonderfull, she went the extra mile and was on top of everything and vary polite. To everyone. That was newyears day, the night before I had a vary differant experience with the cocktail waitresses that were working after midnight when it had slowed down I could not get a drink to save my life nor even a smile out of the two girls I saw working. But I give Melody five stars. I hope you let her know. Thank you
Review 19:We went to the steak house to eat a beautiful meal, we ordered a $72 dollar plate and wasn't cooked properly, as I ate I found a long blonde hair in my food. Lost my appetite. Manager came over and apologized and offered me a $9 dessert. I was offended that he was offering me a dessert for a long blonde hair in my food. (BTW I have dark brown hair) I paid $91 for my dinner. I will not ever recommend The Nugget Steak House to anyone. The service was superb until then.
Review 20:Fantastic room with fabulous views. Very Spacious.
Review 21:My family and I stayed in a nonsmoking room but it didn't matter, smoking is allowed the rest of the facilities. Second-hand smokes were forcibly sucked through the door seams into our room and out through the bathroom exhaust vent which we had no control. Undesirable outdoor views and sounds; your options are train depot or freeway or both. The indoor pool/spa were out for maintenance during our four nights stay. Lastly, I had to call housekeeping three times in two hours to have my inoperative TV remote replaced. The 3rd time was talking to the department manager.
Review 22:Price, room decor and furnishing.
Review 23:Its a nice clean, comfortable stay. It may need upgrading style wise (altho I think they do have an updated wing) yet I'd rather it was a bit dated if I can continue to get rooms at an economical rate. Suits me just fine. The hotel is not exactly in the hub of town as its located out towards Sparks, yet if your there to relax, see a movie (right across the street), have a nice buffet dinner at The Rotisserie, and eat the best breakfast ever just down the street at BJ's, then the location is great, otherwise its a 10-15 mins from other hot spots in town. There's a Starbucks in house so that's super convenient as well.
Review 24:Ended up here as snow forced us to change our plans. Very good price and great pics on bookingdotcom. Oh dear! Turns out to be a 1970s time warp. Very dated and not up to 21st century expectations. Like Vegas gone wrong. Very poor mattress and pillows.
Review 25:The price! Easy to find - just off the motorway.
Review 26:once in a while, they must earn money. When ski season is going and the kids are on vacation, the place is a mad house. But its okay keeps prices down.
Review 27:it has a indoor pool and hot tub. considering the load the place was under maintance was good.
Review 28:Pool is poor/hot tub out of service, arcade is not current, smell of smoke everywhere in the facility, pretentious cafe hostess
Review 29:Free upgrade to newly remodeled rooms, restaurant on site, great view
Review 30:valet misplaced our car keys which kept us waiting for 45 minutes which then delayed our dinner plans. Tried to talk to front end manager only to be pushed to valet manger, I should have asked for general manger. There was a small wad of hair in the tub. TV didnt work only could get 2 channels of course we called and they said they were trying to resolve the problem. The only reason we booked the hotel was for the pool and of course the next morning it was down for maintence and when I walked by no one was working on the pool. Tried to use express checkout on TV...didn't work. In less than 24 hours this hotel and uncaring staff is a reason for me never to return to this casino/hotel. Horrible service
Review 31:breakfast
Review 32:Old hotel. Dusty furniture. Room not very clean. Bed uncomfortable. Towles in poor condition.
Review 33:It is only 10 minutes away from downtown Reno. Safe area. Validated parking is free.
Review 34:We've stayed at the Nugget for years - it's a great place. We did notice that the room amenities needed some attention - one of the lampshades was broken & one of the beds was short a top sheet (only covering was the comforter).
Review 35:Should be called the Pre-lung-cancer Resort. Great if you like cigarette smoke everywhere. Smoking in the lobby as you wait in long lines to check in. Smoke of course in casino with no non-smoking area: even smoke in the non-smoking restaurants as makes its way in there from everywhere else. Relief only when finally arrived at the parking garage. Won't be back.
Review 36:Nice room
Review 37:The only thing was that there is no garage parking lot in the West tower. It was cold getting to the car in the outside parking lot.
Review 38:The kids had tons of fun at he indoor pool. The hotel was very clean and comfy!!
Review 39:Next to train depot, and freeway. Restaruants are not opened all week. Noodle Hut is too small, no assigned seating. Buffet is always busy, too crowded. Other restaruants were just o.k. Starbucks charging 50c for a cup, ever after I spent $30s on the promise, always had to wait to order, 10-20mins for a coffee shop. Not much entertainments for a casino.
Review 40:Value, Location to Reno, and sking.Gaming.
Review 41:Lots of people checking in and very slow line. Need to get more people to check us in faster. We had to leave and eat and come back to a line but not as bad as the first line.
Review 42:I've stayed at a lot of casino hotels and I think this one is very, very nice. The best thing is the staff - everyone was friendly and professional. The table games (blackjack and craps) have low minimum bets. $5 for blackjack and one day they they had $2 craps! The room was large, clean and very comfortable. Downtown Reno is an easy 10 minute drive from this casino. No need to go to Reno though - this casino/hotel is much better.
Review 43:Non smoking was bullcrap. Daughter with asthma had to tolerate the smell of smoke coming through vents in a non-smoking room No fan in STEAMY bathroom. Shower valve screamed noisily. Too far from downtown.
Review 44:Food ok. Good beers.
Review 45:Staff just trying to hurry us through the LOOOOOONNNGGG line. Clearly this place is about quantity. We felt there was no care or concern for us. Our "Non Smokin" room reeked of stale cigarette smoke. Our hotel phone did not even work, so we had to use our cell phone to call the front desk and each phone call took forever. Room was not clean. Everything felt gross. Tons of people, long lines to do everything. We even had to haul all of our luggage (a ton with small kids, one baby) because the bell men were to busy. This was the worst hotel ever.
Review 46:Didn't like anything about this gross place.
Review 47:We didn't like that the kids were not welcome in the hot tub at the pool. Slots were cold. Only one Roulette table, the same 6 people were there (not kidding) 6 hours!
Review 48:Arcade was a bonus for the kids ! Pool was also very convenient (They need to change there policy about no kids in the hot tub) Very clean rooms nice decor, very hot high pressure water supply, shower was awesome! Starbucks in the lobby!
Review 49:Tv outdated in Room on the West Tower
Review 50:Overall the stay was good. Location was good, not to far from downtown Reno. Room we stayed in still has outdated TV no flat panel. Other than that enjoyed our stay.
Review 51:- No fridge in the rooms. - Ice machines in floors run out of ice quickly. Bring a cooler and buy your own ice. - A repairman started drilling in room above at 8 a.m. This was preposterous. The noise was so loud it woke up several floors. It is obvious the hotel has no policy on common sense. - Vacuum cleaner noises of staff cleaning a room at 11:45 p.m the day we checked in. See comments above on common sense. - Hot water vanishes in the morning and afternoon. If the hotel is full, chances are a lukewarm shower is the best you can get. - Very noisy heater. When turned off loud engine stayed on making a noise such as an ice machine, but louder. - Neighbors TV's very loud. Hotel did not care. - We ate at the sushi/Chinese restaurant. Manager was surly and her abundant head hair was not tied or capped. She was handling things in the kitchen. Cooks had hats, but apparently manager is immune to sanitary conditions.Food was was tasteless. Don't eat there. - Noise from freeway and train tracks. The hotel is tucked between 6 lane freeway I-80 and a large train yard. Either way you either get the freeway noise or the noisy clicking and clacking of trains being attached and dis-attached. Of course this is not the hotel's fault, but you still couldn't sleep. - Absence of manager - never on duty apparently. - Super far away from everything.
Review 52:Leaving the hotel
Review 53:not enough front desk agents.i did not get any of my requests (extra pillows, room away from elevator, private parking) housekeeping people are rude (whoever answered the phone) and very slow bringing my coffee cups and sweeteners.
Review 54:The pool is not clean ,, towels are old ,, he whole building needs to be taken care of
Review 55:Customer service is very poor the hotel is old and needs work house keeping service very poor ,, overall the what you see on the internet is not what you get .. I would rate it 2 stars not even close to it
Review 56:There were no bath or face towels in the room and the one hand towel that we did have had a stain. Telephone was filthy. Rooms need to be renovated.
Review 57:Room was cheap and worked well for our use as a day room waiting for a flight out of Reno.
Review 58:The airport shuttle. Had been waiting for 20 minutes, the shuttle pulled up, looked at us and drove off within a few seconds. We asked the valet people but everyone had different answers and they said they would grab us a cab. And they never did so another 10 minutes were wasted. We had a scheduled Tahoe Express shuttle that was leaving less than 20 minutes. If we would've known it was a struggle for the employees and shuttle driver we would've just taken a cab in the first place.
Review 59:The carver at the buffet. He wasn't that friendly. It seems like he didn't like his job.
Review 60:Hotel was really nice. I liked this better than Circus Circus. They have kid activities. Pool, arcade with games you can get prizes from tickets.
Review 61:I had a horrible experience. I had three reservations and when it came to checking in, the front desk clerk told me I had cancelled my reservation. That I had called and cancelled either by phone or by email. The rooms were dirty and bed sheets were stained. Then they charged my credit card for the deposit and they didn't apply it to my room. I will have to dispute the charge with my credit card company.
Review 62:Our room was very dirty, with trash and empty wrappers around the base of our bed, the bath tub and sink did not drain and water was dripping onto floor from pipes under sink!
Review 63:Price and restaurants
Review 64:The 12th floor smelled like fish and there were a lot of kids running up and down the hall until 2pm or later 3 of the nights we were there.
Review 65:The staff was extremely helpful. We had security help us when the elevators was backed up by taking us by the back elevators to our room when my wife was Ill, she is in a wheelchair.
Review 66:I did not like the long lines for the elevators, the valet for the car, and the restaurants. The walls were very thin and you could hear everyone walk down the halls, slam doors repeatedly in the adjacent rooms. It looked like their was many tour buses with foreign guests going to the ski resorts. The indoor pool was a cluster of people. Kids were going in and out with dirty diapers. My son and I walked in the area and decided it did not look inviting when there was literally shoulder to shoulder people.
Review 67:The Front Desk Clerk, Raelynn, was very nice.
Review 68:could have included microwave so that i could have enjoyed Popcorn while watching movie.
Review 69:indoor pool was good. it was great to see snowfall while swimming
Review 70:The pool wasn't as nice as the kids expected (the water was really cloudy). There were problems with the thermostat throughout the place when we were there--miserably HOT in the common areas (casino & arcade), and even in the rooms. Couldn't get them cooled down. And the cigarette smoke...yuck! But it IS a casino...
Review 71:The location and the price is great! For the money, you can't beat it.
Review 72:Arrived late and found our room was upgraded but only had one bed for a family of four. Had to call to have a roll away sent up. Trash was left on the floor from before we checked in and when we called to have housekeeping come they cleaned the room but missed the same piece of trash.
Review 73:Friendly staff
Review 74:Give me a smoking room on a non smoking room request. Mention sever allegery to smoke but still give me a smoking room. Second there were no water in the bathroom....very very bad. Third, why give me sixth floor west tower. I talked to my friends who had stay at here, they said East tower 20 something floor would be best for me with serve allegery. Very bad experience for my family
Review 75:Not much
Review 76:I just told you!!
Review 77:Noisy room, had family next door, with kids.We had a non-smoking suite, still smelled cigarettes!! Past stays at Nugget were ok,Courtyard tho.
Review 78:Didn't replace new towels after they cleaned up the room & waited a long time just for the room service to bring a garbage can to our room because they were no bin to throw away our garbage....
Review 79:We had a connecting room, although our room was non smoking their cigarette smoke would seep in under the connecting door, they were excessively loud and inappropriate. I don't know if all the rooms have thin walls or just the ones with connecting rooms. Not sure that I would stay here again with children. The room itself looked comparable to Hampton Hilton (not as clean) we were in the East wing. We have stayed at various motels while in Reno/Sparks and other than the rooms being different, the nightlife is the same. I guess my expectations were too high for a $200 a night room.
Review 80:The room had a beautiful view (23rd floor) The room was furnished nicely and plenty of room for our family of 4 to move around.
Review 81:Smelled like cigarettes even on non smoking floor. The hotel pictures looked good, in reality barely mediocre. It was well priced but I will never stay here again nor will I recommend.
Review 82:The location was ok
Review 83:2 fire alarms and had to walk down 19 floors on the 1st fire alarm, kids running around without supervision, toilet broke, mold in bathroom, double charged for our stay, coffee maker broke, front line manager was rude when we asked to speak to her about our issues, little kids (maybe 3 yrs old) in hot tub... many times there were kids under 10, unsupervised in hot tub. Lastly, we tried to complain but management would not speak to us because they were "too busy"
Review 84:Fire alarm went off for about an hour and a half. Including the hotel casino and restaurant that we were dining in. But the buffet was awesome. Prime rib awesome
Review 85:Very clean! Very nice and modern! Awesome showerhead and water pressure. Great value.
Review 86:Please support the historic part of Sparks! Incentives to rent or buy to help that run down part right next to the Nugget! (10 blocks in any direction)
Review 87:Heated swimming pool!
Review 88:There was no hot water the second morning. Although they kept saying it was being fixed, it still hadn't been when we checked out. The only thing they did when I complained was to remove the $10 resort fee. Also, be aware that although they don't charge the full room cost, they do bill your credit card with some upfront charges making the total bill a little confusing.
Review 89:This place is fine but nothing special. If I'd known there was a snowstorm keeping me in I would've gotten someplace downtown because there is nothing around here. The room was big & beds comfortable. Casino is OK, Rosie's is a nice restaurant and Gilley's is better but the hours are limited.
Review 90:There are only few selections of restaurants; average food. If you are picky in food, you need to dine out.
Review 91:Facility including indoor pool and parking structure are handy especially in cold Sony winter
Review 92:There were at least 100 people using swimming pool at 9 pm. Not hotel's fault. Just unfortunate because we picked hotel mainly to use pool for kids.
Review 93:Rooms were beautiful with comfortable beds. Walls thick enough that we didn't hear noises from neighbors or hallway.
Review 94:Not clean. Housekeeping did not vacuum the room. Staff were rude. Information sparse and you didn't want to ask as staff was dismissive. Maybe they are overworked. Felt like a hotel in decline.
Review 95:Parking is good but clear instructions to get to the room were lacking. Very smokey in casino compared to other hotels who must have better air filtration by comparison.
Review 96:Heating system and hot water went out we had our 84 year mom with us heat is important when it is 8 degrees degrees outside no provisions were given to us. The pool was not clear it looked like dirty bath water not the cleanest resort
Review 97:Staff was friendly willing to help any way they could
Review 98:The beds were stained and very uncomfortable. There was hair in the bathroom that was never cleaned up. There were 4 of us in the room yet we had only 2 sets of bath towels. Took a while to get more sent up. There were dirty mirrors throughout the room and the curtains had food stains on them. On Christmas morning the hot water didn't work and no one could shower. Never enough front desk staff are available and hotel operators don't answer the phones when there's a problem, like no hot water. The staff is overwhelmed it seems, and they are still reasonably nice. The touches that made the Nugget a resort are lacking these days like 24 hour room service. The 10 dollar resort fee was waived for one day because I complained about the hot water issue. I was handed a comment card and sent on my way. I have never had to complain before at the Nugget. I have been staying here for over a decade when in town.
Review 99:The food is good at the Nugget, and the staff are friendly, however they do not acknowledge you when you pass by them. The location is good and the pool is a good feature.
Review 100:Would be great to have some more live entertainment as I am not a gambler. Went there for skiing.
Review 101:Friendly staff. RosieGood service. Clean room. Rosie cafe open 24x7, with good food. Great pool and adult hot tub. Good view of mountains from 25th floor.
Review 102:Rosie Cafe served the Christmas turkey meal....the WORST meal I have had in years and we don't complain! 2 meals both were terrible will never eat there again
Review 103:Staff was very courteous especially since they were working on Christmas Day! Location was convenient for our purpose. Room terrific
Review 104:No such thing as smoke-free in old casinos; location was right next to freeway on the front side, and above working railroad tracks on back side; no refrigerator in room we were given; floors were dirty and the bedding was disgusting. Noise level was extremely high (we stayed during Thanksgiving holiday).
Review 105:Parking was available for free but there were a lot of reserved spots close to door if you were willing to pay for them. Elevators were exceptionally fast (we were on 19th floor). We were in a premium king room so floor space was excellent and we made the reservations a 10 months in advance so pricing was excellent.
Review 106:I was not very happy when we arrived and our room was not ready and they had to find us another room, which was very nice but I had reserved it way in advance. The staff was wonderful but whoever was responsible for having our room ready was not real responsible.
Review 107:TV had no remote, then after an 45 min he arrived volume could only go to minimal where kids had to sit on edge of bed to hear.
Review 108:Quality of food and staff
Review 109:We arrived and the place was packed with a super long line. However, it moved very quickly and there was a server giving out water and beer. I also appreciated the valet parking included and we had a fabulous corner room on the 10th floor. Our fur baby Bella loved it too!!
Review 110:The room smelled like smoke, even though it was a nonsmoking room. I assume it has to do with the ventilation. There is not a microwave or mini fridge, which was disappointment, because we had leftovers. The tv is very old and poor quality. And the on demand movies were very expensive. We were in the West Wing, which has not been renovated.
Review 111:The price was right. Bed and linens were comfy. The windows open, which allowed us to have fresh air.
Review 112:Requested for connecting for 2X. Left a message and called in before I came. I was told that I have connecting rooms, even when I was given the room keys. I was told rooms were connected but found out it was not. I left my room at 9am the next morning. Came back 6pm but my room was not cleaned called the housekeeping and they took care of it right away. Also the AC in the room was too loud. I booked the upgraded rooms, so thought everything will go smooth but guess not. Last day checking out, got my vehicle after 30min which was ok since there were lot of folks checking out. I gave my luggage tag to the driver to bring my luggage which he never did. After waiting for 30min outside in cold, I went inside and asked for help. I'm done. I will prefer some other hotels where I get customer satisfaction.
Review 113:Location
Review 114:The women who checked me in was kind of shity and rude. My room was located on the East side and the person who check me in sent me to the West side elevator. I asked her "are you sure my room is that way." Her not knowing I've been there before. She said "oh yeah go that way and take the elevator to the 5th floor." She had a smirk on her face. I later figured out why once I had to walk the entire 5th floor through the pool area carrying my bags in front of everyone in their bathing suits. Personally I thought she was a horrible host. Slamming my credit card and I.D on the counter. With a sarcastic rough tone of voice. As for the room it was located in the corner next to the freeway. Nothing like trying to get a goodnight sleep to cars honking and sirens basting. I had to drive back home to SLC UT tired. Anyways I was treated better at the Sands the night before and it was much quieter.
Review 115:I liked the rooms they are spacious and they have a cool t.v. I wasn't able to check out like last time. T.V. check out was out.
Review 116:the negative over shadowed any positive. $400 dollars extra
Review 117:we booked on booking.com as needing a pet friendly room imagine my shock when we were charged $400 of pets. very bad communication…done with the nugget
Review 118:Found toy from previous occupant in room so didn't think room was as clean as it could be. No fridge or microwave in room.
Review 119:Room was spacious. Staff was friendly. Made sure we got a room close to the elevator for my mom who has bad knees.
Review 120:Valet was a bit timely, but still fine, it was busy
Review 121:Wonderful steakhouse, loved the build your own bloody mary bar, and had the best time in the poker room.
Review 122:I didn't like that after not being able to use my debit card for the deposit (due to it not having my name) the staff that was checking me in told me I would need to pay a cash deposit of $100. I went to the ATM and got the money and when I went back he said, "Actually the deposit is $112 but this is fine but you'll only get $88 back." I was irritated but I let it go. I was having trouble holding my stuff and was already late to an event. I was already afraid of dropping my dress and everything while going the first time. After the event, when I got back to the room I tried to call room service and no one answered. Even though it said room service is available 24 hours on Friday and Saturday. Following the instructions on the phone, I called the operator for a wake up call. She sounded irritable and gave me an extension to call. The extension she gave me worked but was noted on the phone as messages or something. So between midnight and 1:30am, people kept slamming their doors when they went to bang on some chick named Jessica's room door hollaring for her to wake up. Every few minutes or so it was someone new banging. Idk if she eventually opened up or they just gave up. I didn't call the operator to complain because i didn't want to further irritate her nor did I know what rooms were involved.
Review 123:The room was clean and the beds were comfortable to sleep in.
Review 124:It took 3 tries to get me into a room where one was vacant and two the keys worked. There was no refrigerator or microwave.
Review 125:The view from the room as well as the space and friendly staff were amazing.
Review 126:That we had to change rooms and when we got to the front desk clerk wanted to know if we wanted to upgrade our room for a small fee. We were already inconvenienced for having to pack our luggage. Room should have been upgraded for FREE.
Review 127:The price and location
Review 128:We faced the interstate which I thought would be ok but not used to the noise. We live in a very quite part of Sparks.
Review 129:We had our company Christmas party and spent 1 night. room great. Rosie's cafe
Review 130:It really sucks because I booked online with booking. Com and when I got to the hotel to check in , the price was higher than booking said it was. $30 higher. Also the TV needs to be upgraded , I couldn't even understand the sound. And for some stupid reason, they only use 4 levels of the parking garage. Could not find a place to park. Had to use valet parking, and when we checked out of the hotel we had to wait 45 minutes to get our car back. I don't think I will stay again.
Review 131:The room service was pretty expensive and it's almost $7.00 just to watch a movie. It would be better if the movies would be included in the stay and the room service was more affordable.
Review 132:We were on the 27th floor in the west tower, and the view was amazing! It started to snow and it made for an even more beautiful sight of Reno. The staff was extremely friendly, the food was delicious and the room was gorgeous!
