Reviews for Best Western PLUS Rio Grande Inn

Review 1:There was nothing that I didn't like!

Review 2:I loved everything about our stay from the staff (very nice, helpful, kind, and even let us check out late!), to the room (absolutely gorgeous room! I loved the way the room was set up and having a balcony!), to the cleanliness (everything was super clean and I loved smelling the pool as soon as we walked in! It just smelled so clean and fresh!), to them even giving us a ride in the van (we wanted to go out with friends and that's the reason we got a room and instead of us getting a cab, they offered to give us a ride just a few blocks to drop us off because It was so cold and they even gave us the number to call and have them pick us up. It was so nice and we were able to tip the driver.)! Absolutely amazing all the way around! I'd recommend this hotel to anyone and I'll definitely be staying again!

Review 3:The rooms were old and tired. The breakfast area was very crowded with little available seating area and the staff had a hard time keeping up with the food service. It was expensive and far less quality when compared to the room we had in Santa Fe which was also within walking distance of town.

Review 4:The location to downtown Durango was excellent. We could walk everywhere.

Review 5:No real view from room - just hotel next door

Review 6:Location and access to Durango; In door pool available; Free drinks in bar early evening; Breakfast was OK

Review 7:At arrival the hotel only could find one of the two rooms reserved. With the reservation sheet confirmation that I gave them. A search finally provided the second reservation room.

Review 8:Large well equipped rooms ssurrounding the indoor pool. Excellent breakfast and evening social. The hotel is located two short blocks from the train station and many eateries.

Review 9:The noise (cooling) from the ice- and vendingmachine located near the elevator. We had a room close to that area and due to the glass door, you could hear that sound all night long.

Review 10:The Happy Hour !

Review 11:Breakfast was poor at best, elevator was broke and no help with bags (bad knees and back made it difficult) front desk seemed to not care. needs update. better places to stay for the same money

Review 12:Location totown

Review 13:Parking was difficult due to trucks pulling trailers tacking up 3 or more spaces.Hotel needs to limit trailer parking.

Review 14:Great location in town.Close to restaurants and local attractions.

Review 15:Musty odor in room. Proximity to indoor pool (noisy until 9pm). Value (ie. Not a $200/night room. More like $100/night ok). Stayed at several other Colorado high summer season resorts on this trip and paid the same amounts each night with much better facilities & amenities.

Review 16:Proximity to shops/restaurants. Friendly accommodating staff. Respectable tasting food but was still the stereo type heat-n-serve breakfast found at all other lesser priced inns.

Review 17:Great location with friendly staff and good amenities. The staff was knowledgable and gave us good info on the town's events. Our visit was short but we would definitely return here!

Review 18:Bed was hard, roll away was thin uncomfortable, hot tub only two jets worked. Maintenance men were not friendly. Plug in for phones not by the bed.

Review 19:Location

Review 20:Walls are thin as can hear next door people and breakfast area is small and crowded.

Review 21:Staff very friendly and helpful. Location is close to historic downtown and train station. Room very clean and comfortable.

Review 22:The bathroom was very small, not alike the picture of the bathroom I booked on line. And not a jetted bathtub like the one I booked on line. Disappointed with the bathroom. The pool and hot tub close at 9pm, too early.

Review 23:Location was great. Breakfast very good.

Review 24:We love that the hotel had complimentary breakfast. Unfortunately, the breakfast was not very good. The "hot" items were lukewarm and tasteless.

Review 25:The location in Durango is great! Easy walking to the Durango/Silverton train and downtown area for food and other entertainment. After our long days enjoying the surrounding area, the pool and hot tub were a blessing. We were pleasantly surprised by the free laundry facilities; all we needed was to buy detergent and fabric softener. The room was comfortable and clean.

Review 26:Parking at hotel on weekend became crowded.

Review 27:Clean, comfortable, great folks, great Happy Hour, GREAT location for or walking the historic district for restaurants (tons of great eateries) & retail & art. GREAT location as base camp for excursions in & around the area. Again, all staff friendly & helpful & fun.

Review 28:Nothing to complain about here.

Review 29:Nice big rooms with comfy beds and good bathroom. Room had a great small balcony to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening sunshine. Very helpful staff who sorted out an initial problem with the safety deposit box quickly and efficiently. Nice touch of Free drinks hour and the basic self serve breakfast was more than adequate. Hotel is in a great location for walking to the restaurants in Durango and the shops and train. Didn't have time to use the pool but it looked good.

Review 30:Some elderly travelers came in and took over during our stay that were very disrespectful of other guests. My two grandchildren couldn't even swim the last two days of our stay due to their asking them not to splash. The sofa beds should not be advertised. We chose this not knowing and the mattresses were terrible for the kids.

Review 31:The location was very convenient.Staff was great and breakfast was very nice. Loved the complimentary drinks.

Review 32:No frills breakfast is adequate/acceptable. Breakfast area rather small for the size of hotel and number of guests catered for. Quite pricey.

Review 33:Excellent location and lots of free parking

Review 34:Place is dark and bath facility was old and recaps on wall was semi Dangerous as plug Would not stay on wall to Charge iPhone. Stuff good mgt Should be checking

Review 35:Average

Review 36:Noise from rail yard during the day and traffic noise from adjacent highway at all times. "Bar" where free evening cocktails are offered is pretty dismal.

Review 37:Location is very convenient to downtown Durango. Nice facility and helpful staff. Off-season rates are excellent for property of this quality.

Review 38:Room was very small and furnishings were dated. Perhaps other rooms are more modernized. We've stayed here before and don't remember this being a problem.

Review 39:Location, location, location: All of downtown Durango is at your feet! Front desk staff was professional and friendly.

Review 40:The room was really comfortable, clean and close to a lot of things to do. Wish we could have stayed longer than one night. The staff was top notch!

Review 41:We had a room directly out to the indoor swimmingpool. As the front door was glass only we could hear parents and children swimming until around 9 pm.

Review 42:Very good location close to Durango Friendly staff

Review 43:very confusing layout. staff was even confused about best parking area and door to use for optimal convenience for getting to our room...

Review 44:loved the location of hotel. could walk to everything - near train museum!

Review 45:The front desk staff was not friendly...at all!

Review 46:Our room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the free cocktail's and the kids loved the pool! Plenty of breakfast selections and the staff worked non-stop keeping the breakfast room clean and well stocked. The cocktail server was friendly and took good care of everyone.

Review 47:Room was a bit small and hard to keep ventilated. Air conditioner/heater was quite noisy but didn't necessarily keep us from resting.

Review 48:Super friendly staff, very courteous and helpful. Room and facilities as described, clean and well-appointed. Breakfast, cocktail hour and 24 hour coffee service were very much appreciated. The location was perfect for the purpose of our trip, which was to walk the town of Durango and take the train to Silverton.

Review 49:Basic room with no view at all. Could hear the train whistle in the morning since it was right next door.

Review 50:The location. We could walk downtown with no problem. The amenities were very nice. Free happy hour with two drinks and free breakfast in the morning.

Review 51:Very noisy air conditioning

Review 52:We were the guests from hell, our older son was ill and then we left our passports behind. The staff were so obliging, effortlessly helping withour son and then mailing passports on to future address, we couldn't have carried on our holiday without them.Thank you so... much

Review 53:Beautiful stylish hotel. Private porch patio with a few of the Animas river valley. Convenient to everything with the help of the Durango shuttle service.

Review 54:One of the pictures on the booking website had Jimmie Dean breakfast sandwiches which we were excited about. However, when we got there, no breakfast sandwiches we available.

Review 55:I thought the breakfast selection was good and had many choices. I loved that there were donuts everyday.

Review 56:Many rooms don't have private balconies and could be claustrophobic

Review 57:Indoor pool Very helpful staff Good breakfasts Happy Hour Room size and facilities Walking distance to down town Private balcony

Review 58:AC unit was noisy, sounded like an airplane taking off when it kicked in Parking lot configuration meant a bit of a walk Coffee - do yourself a favor and walk up Main Ave to a real coffee shop (like Steaming Bean)

Review 59:Large heated pool and hot tub Breakfast was slightly above standard hotel-quality, and they had a very large selection of hot and cold items Staff was extremely friendly
