Reviews for The Spring Hotel
Review 1:Very good location, a little far from backpackers area if you look for that. Good hotel, a little bit outdated but very clean and comfortable. Great staff, ask them anything. Basic breakfast but good quality. Very good value for money
Review 2:There was mold on the walls in one of the rooms and it smelled as a result. Part of the ceiling was cracked. The bed was not one bed, but rather two beds pushed together and hence a crack between us. Our adult children's room had the same issue with the bed and their bathroom did not have a bathtub, but rather a shower with a curtain and no other floor divider from the toilet (the water flooded the whole bathroom floor) and the window had a permanent open space leading to the outside through which a bat entered the room (!)...and their room cost the same as ours (the deluxe double). Also, our air conditioner was not very strong. Other than that, the staff was very accommodating and the location great. It all depends, I guess, on your priorities.
Review 3:The staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast was adequate.
Review 4:There was a lizard in my bedroom when i arrived and the next day there was another lizard in the corridor i saw while i was waiting for the slowest lift in the world.
Review 5:The location is walking distance to all tourist attractions.
Review 6:The room itself was a bit dated and on arrival smelled rather stale, and part of the floor seemed damp. That said, once some air was circulated through the carpeting dried and the stale smell become far less noticeable.
Review 7:Great location within walking distance to lots of sites. The staff were always very friendly and helpful. Not having a balcony, I found the patio are on the rooftop was a nice place to unwind at the end of the day if you don't mind the city sounds, and was fairly private as it seemed to be used infrequently.
Review 8:Nothing
Review 9:Came here for my first two nights of jet lag and enjoyed the quiet and comfortable room. Excellent location. Simple and really good breakfast. I have already booked again for my return journey.
Review 10:I have stayed here many times and have never been disappointed.
Review 11:The breakfast is great, and the help in moving the luggage up the steps is appreciated. Convenient to many restaurants and "downtown". The wireless is now great.
Review 12:The rooms are a bit outdated. Watch out for rooms without windows - they are really depressing.
Review 13:Super location in the middle of the district 1 (center). Friendly staff and nice rooftop view.
Review 14:The location is fantastic easy walking to all major attractions. Breakfast was great. .though not buffet style it was definitely adequate to start the day. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Review 15:very noisy staff In the room: fridge and AC very noisy no window in the room no air extraction in the bathroom
Review 16:The entrance of the building is very nice Very good breakfast
Review 17:Problems with air con, light not working. Neither were fixed as promised. Staff were ok, not particularly helpful or welcoming. The hotel had an air of functionality rather than homeliness.
Review 18:Good location, functional city centre hotel
Review 19:The bed was very hard but this seems to be the norm in Veitnam.
Review 20:Everything is close by The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good.
Review 21:The hotel's location is perfect as it near all the tourist and historical sites in the city. I also like the helpful and efficient staff, Thai and Khan. They were very sensitive to our needs.
Review 22:The Noise from Street. Just a thin day time curtain, its not getting dark in the Room. Housekepping very noisy outside the room with the Housekeeping Trolly. Housekeeping guy open my Room Door 2 time in one day without knocking or Calling. The Lock on the Room Door was broken. Smell of mold from AC, needs cleaning. 3% extra charge to the fix Booking.com price if pay by credit card. In Booking confirmation is written cash or creditcard, nothing written from extracharge.
Review 23:The Location, Size of Bed.
Review 24:First room they gave us had ants in the bathroom. Also the water heater was malfunctioning and we got slight electric shocks when touching the tap! We explicitly asked and they confirmed that our room would not face the road - it did face the side (actually a bigger road) and it was really noisy.
Review 25:Location is nice, definitely better than the backpackers area. Staff was nice.
Review 26:Hot water very limited supply, not really for a hot soak unfortunately! Breakfast could incl more choices but can't expect too much for the price they charging.
Review 27:It has a long bath for that price which is fantastic & a decent breakfast to go with it. Room was also bright & airy.Air-con was rather new & silent which was very good compared to other budget hotel.
Review 28:First and foremost the staff are all extremely helpful. The hotel is not the most modern but it has plenty of charm. It is well located in District 1 so many of the sights and markets are within easy walking distance. The breakfast is wonderful with both western and asian options and you can have both. (The Phu is excellent!). Room 802 has a balcony and a great view of the Saigon skyline. All in all a great experience. An added bonus is a newly opened restaurant opposite called Chi Hoa which offers some of the best Vietnamese food that we experienced in our 3 week trip though Vietnam.
Review 29:Rooms a little outdated, but clean and bed large. Overall value for money.
Review 30:Service was fantastic and with a smile. Free breakfast was great- with western and Vietnamese options. Great location- easy walking distance from major sights of city.
Review 31:using door key, unreliable locks. may have an issue for sensitive sleeper.
Review 32:location rate is attractive as long as you do not spend much time in the room.
Review 33:We really enjoyed our stay at the Spring Hotel. It was close to the main shopping street and market with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. The staff were very helpful, booking tours for us and holding our luggage whilst we were on tours. We stayed in 3 different rooms whilst we were there and some were better than others but all were comfortable with everything you need, We would definitely stay here again.
Review 34:Enormous cockroache in the bath on our arrival room should have been checked and removed but no great problem! Reception staff trying to help and giving out information that is not accurate or even correct, best if they don't know to say so
Review 35:Location great , comfortable rooms, minimal noise, loads of hot water, good breakfast, restaurant staff attentive
Review 36:The bathrooms need a makeover. I stayed on two ocasions in this hotel and the first bathroom needed a mend, but the second shower was unuseable as the head kept falling apart and was broken in total.
Review 37:The location is perfect, quiet yet in the middle of it all! The breakfast is cooked upon your choice from the menu and there's something for everyone. The staff are great and very kind!
Review 38:We emailed you (January 26)that a storm system coming through New York would delay us by one day. We arrived at the Spring Hotel and were told that we were to pay for missed night....as it was a "no show". We then paid to that, but feel we need to get a refund from you
Review 39:The hotel is ideally situated and offers good value for money. Staff were able to organise the trips we wanted which were very good. The room, which had a balcony giving us an excellent view of the city, was clean and well fitted out. The breakfast was very good.
Review 40:My room decor was a bit tired, but I saw that other rooms were recently renovated.
Review 41:Very helpful and accommodating staff; excellent breakfast with plate of fruit too; super little roof terrace
Review 42:We spent 4 nights at The Spring Hotel on arrival in Vietnam for our holiday. It is excellently located in the centre of town. The rooms are simple but comfortable. Staff are friendly. The hotel offers a great breakfast too.
Review 43:I am disappointed that the street has changed to the extent that it has. gone are the lovely vietnamese shops, replaced by Japanese restaurants and outlets.
Review 44:The welcome we receive each time from the wonderful staff. Our stay was once again fantastic.
Review 45:Breakfast was ok, not amazing, but can't complain for the price
Review 46:Excellent staff ready to help, gave us free upgrade to a balcony room, breakfast included, great location in old town
Review 47:I stayed at the Spring Hotel for 12 days on business. The staff was highly competent and very friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location is terrific. Excellent value - highly recommended.

Review 49:Helpful staff and good location
Review 50:Great team good breakfast
Review 51:Good location to be able to walk to some of the main sites. Clean hotel with helpful staff. HUGE bed!
Review 52:Location was great - and staff very helpful
Review 53:Hotel is a bit dated, needs some maintenance and updating; windows in room did not open.
Review 54:Good location, well trained staff.
Review 55:Great location right in the centre, and very cheap compared to other high end hotels around. Nice building, tho starting to show its date
Review 56:Staff were friendly and helpful. reasonable value for money. good central location.
Review 57:Lift broke down and we had to climb stairs to 7th floor - but they did get it fixed that same evening.
Review 58:Friendly and very helpful staff
Review 59:this hotel certainly needs an update....
Review 60:good location and staff were nice, room was large and comfortable
Review 61:The room was worn and frayed; I suggest a bit of an update!
Review 62:The location and the staff
Review 63:The balcony had no table and chairs
Review 64:The location close to the Opera House. Breakfast was excellent and the staff most welcoming
Review 65:Location, location, location Basic but adequate and clean facilities Pleasant staff Breakfast
Review 66:The staff are great, food in the restaurant was really good.
Review 67:Wifi was a bit shaky. Noice from the street was a little disturbing during the night.
Review 68:Nice staff, good location, good value for money
Review 69:Great staff. Wonderful breakfast.
Review 70:Would have liked something to eat when I arrived, as had to walk quite a long way to get some food.
Review 71:Breakfast, location helpful staff.
Review 72:In a small cockroach in the room. Want one a double bed, But there was two twin beds put. In the room No ventilation

Review 75:internet intermittant air conditioning cause power outage
Review 76:price for this location
Review 77:basic but not bad for the money
Review 78:value for money
Review 79:Shower head was not very good
Review 80:Hotel staff spoke English well Staff were very friendly and helpful Hotel location is great, not too noisy
Review 81:The rooms are getting a bit tired and could do with a bit of a revamp
Review 82:The staff are fantastic, very friendly and helpfull.
Review 83:Breakfast was limited, the fruit was super but would have liked yoghurt and fresh bread.
Review 84:The locality and helpfulness of the staff. We were very well looked after.
Review 85:room a bit small and window coul not be open, shower and bathroom was not that clean. too much air condizionate in the hall
Review 86:good vietnamese coffe; support from the staff to book a local train; organized tour to cu chi tunnels. good position, all the main attractions are by walking distance
Review 87:Bad door knob and lock on the room door.
Review 88:Wonderful people Incredible breakfast Booked bus to Cambodia for us Quite location Nice to have a safe in the room
Review 89:All staff attentive and friendly. Receptionist was the first person to wish me happy birthday on 25th April 2014 then all other at breakfast, doorman and was even presented a vase full of flowers from the hotel management.
Review 90:No restaurant despite having a menu in your room. If you pay by credit card then 3% extra is charged. No coffee making allowed in the room. The bathroom needs a makeover.
Review 91:The staff could not have been more helpful and the location is very good. Breakfast is good. WIFI works throughout the hotel. This is an old style hotel and totally suitable for us two seniors.
Review 92:Nothing is wrong with this hotel but could improve with a kettle in the room so that you can have a cup of tea when you want.
Review 93:I have stayed at the Spring Hotel twice now and would recommend it to you. The staff are lovely, my friend left her camera at the computer, that evening when we returned from dinner the staff gave her the camera, they had looked at the pictures to see who it belonged to! Also it was my friends birthday whilst we were there, they were presented with a bouquet of flowers! On this trip the air con in the room was not working we were given the keys to another room for the day whilst they worked on the repair. It was finished by 4pm so it was not a big drama but the staff wanted us to be comfortable during the day. The breakfast is fantastic and served in a nice restaurant. Staff will book train tickets for you.
Review 94:When we arrived, we were not helped with our luggage, had to bring them up the stairs ourselves while the porter stood looking at us. The man at reception did not greet us, was very grumpy and did not offer any information on surrounding area (something we had become accustomed too, as this was the fourth hotel we had stayed in on our trip through Vietnam and all of the other hotels went above and beyond to help and advise us). The hotel arranged a bus transfer for us but told us we had to be at the travel office an hour before we needed to, this was unnecessary and meant we were sitting at the side of the street being harassed for an hour. The only plus about this hotel is the location, it is in major need of refurbishment and redecoration. The toilet in our room didn't flush properly and the room door wouldn't lock properly (very old fashioned lock). Very old safety deposit box (metal with key, could easily have been picked)
Review 95:Location is good, it is in the centre of district 1 so close to all the major sites.
Review 96:From the doormen helping with luggage, safety advice and directions to our lovely waitress who served breakfast, every member of staff was kind, pleasant and efficient. Of course we loved being so central and adored the foyer. We would most certainly stay again. Thank you.
Review 97:The room was above the restaurant in the first floor: very very noisy starting from 6 am in the mornig and very noisy the rest of the day b/c of the reception. In addition, there is a noisy tranformator (or similar) just outside the window. The window cannot be opened and is covered with a none removable curtain. Tiny bathroom. The clock that was removed from other booking.com-guest is still in the cabinet :-)
Review 98:Central location.
Review 99:We stayed there for 5 days 4 nights. There is a terrace on the roof top, which is lovely and amazing over looking the Ho Chi Minh City. However,There is a massive bee hive there!!! Got bitten 3 times on arms and oneon neck. Partner got bitten 3 times as well, all on the face. We askedand consulted the staff/ reception people and they claimed it was asmall bee hive hence it was left unattended....They did not supplyanything for us to help rid the pain. We had to request for cream andmedicine. Even after leaving Vietnam, the bee sting still itched for agood 2 weeks. We did not get compensated whatsoever. Great location... but... service is not top notch.
Review 100:Great location
Review 101:the only minus is that furniture is a bit worn.
Review 102:That was a perfect quality price ratio! Hotel personnel was the best we could ever think of! Speak perfect English, always helpful and friendly! they helped to book our trips, gave a map of the city, always warned us to be careful at the street and watch our begs, they really cared! By the way , the laundry service is super nice and cheap. Breakfast had a variety of food and drinks. Location is quite comfortable and all the sightseeings are in walking distance from it. When our TV didn't work hotel was going to give us other room but we agreed to wait for the next day for it to be repaired. Also hotel invited all guests for X-mas party , that was very nice of them))
Review 103:The rooms were a bit narrow. Guests tended to slam their doors late at night and early in the morning. Pads (used to stop chairs scratching the floor) would prevent the slamming.
Review 104:The staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good. The roof top pagoda and view are delightful. Excellently located as Vincom Plaza, Parkson, Notre Dame, Cathedral, Opera House, Hard Rock Cafe, even Ben Thanh market and Hai Ba Chung road are within walking distance.
Review 105:a tiney bit old fashioned, but still a safe place to stay.
Review 106:happy personel good location good value for money, old fashioned hotel, but safe and clean. breakfast is nice
Review 107:It's not really a bad point, rather a remark: they have an awesome rooftop with great view over Ho Chi Minh City, but unfortunately there is no bar or possibility to eat over there, that's a pitty.
Review 108:It's a perfect hotel to stay for one night. The people are nice, it's clean, the breakfast is good (with fresh fruit) and you can easily walk to the Saigon River, which is really beautiful in the evening.
Review 109:Looks a bite old. The room smelled like dust specially when the air conditioning was on. However I think it could be good for one or two nights.
Review 110:The room was larger than expected. It is well located. The staff was friendly and effective.
Review 111:Room is very outdated and disappointing and we took the most expensive option (executive), bath didn't look clean, bed was very hard. We wouldn't recommend it.
Review 112:Good location
Review 113:Very nice staff and the room was nice and clean, with a simple but powerful shower! Breakfast was also great, excellent omelette (though very heavy!!). We booked two trips with them and they were good as well. And the location was super near the high end bars and tourist places.
Review 114:The bathroom was not what it was shown on booking. Super small and poor shower.
Review 115:The staff has always been extremely kind and helpful. Nice position in the city. Very good breakfast.
Review 116:This is me nit picking.... Loud clock ticking on the wall but I just took the battery out. A little noise coming through the walls.
Review 117:Room size Value for money Breakfast Air con TV and movie channels Airport transfer Location!!!
Review 118:Staff expecting a tip after insisting on taking luggage to our room. Staff opening doors for guests is an uncomfortable experience. Compared to other less expensive hotels breakfast was not well done.
Review 119:Decor quite dated, bathroom really in need of update. breakfast not to the standard of other hotels we stayed in in Vietnam.
Review 120:very helpful staff, wifi throughout, comfortable bed (softer than the average in South-East Asia!), clean.
Review 121:Everything was perfect
Review 122:Lovely hotel, what a find! We left a 4-star large hotel nearby to stayin this beautiful small boutique hotel. The hotel is just in back of theOpera, walking distance from the main drag, the river, and the CentralMarket. Our room was spacious and quiet with oriental decor so itmaintained the romance and ambience of Vietnam; the breakfast area withthe faux outdoor scene and pillars was gorgeous and the breakfast hadseveral tasty selections, was very satisfying, and the pho was divine. Iwould definitely recommend this hotel and we would stay here again.
Review 123:I only have one negative . i stayed on the 8th(top floor) and the fire escape had a padlock on and it appeared to be used as a linen or storage room - if a fire , and lifts out ,very dangerous.
Review 124:I have stayed here a few times now and they are friendly, helpful, safe, the food is also acceptable, it is located within the city heart and great location for access to business dinners and other restaurants and entertainment etc., no waiting for taxis and staff give above expected help and assistance.
Review 125:On both our stays which had been booked well in advance we were allocated one room on arrival and asked to move the following day. This meant that you couldn't unpack etc. Breakfasts were good if you liked egg or soup but the addition of pancakes and croissants would have been a boon for those who don't.
Review 126:Well positioned near the heart of the city, but fairly quiet. Palatial beds.Helpful staff. Attractive lobby and rooms.
