Reviews for Grand Sierra Resort and Casino

Review 1:Take your own toiletries, the smell on these were not inviting.

Review 2:The bed was comfortable and the pillows were great. One of the best nights sleep at a hotel ever!

Review 3:Buffet was awful.

Review 4:The hotel has been updated since I was there last. Very nice. Staff was hit or miss. Some really great people, some could care less about you. Room was great. Reno is a bit of a sad town...

Review 5:Clean and very good ventilation in most areas. WiFi worked well throughout entire property with no limit on how many devices. Beds were extremly comfortable (Summit). Spacious rooms. Spa is fantastic and one of the best values for Reno!

Review 6:No much explanation of hotel amenities when I asked as a first time visitor. Great view room promised was not so great.

Review 7:Cocktail servers in the sports book were friendly.

Review 8:They didn't have the room i payed for but they upgraded me for only 20 bucks more a night

Review 9:Everything was very clean and excellent the food is amazing especially the sushi 30 bucks all you can eat cant beat that its all very fresh the drinks at the bars are very well priced and the gambling is amazing very good pay outs

Review 10:One staff member was grumpy at the front desk. The line was slow during sign in. We just came in and the line was slow moving.

Review 11:Rooms were great. Clean, refreshing to look at and the bathroom was very nice compared to what I'm used to look at. And the views at the upper floor amazing.

Review 12:Didn't win in the slots machines but had fun playing.

Review 13:Best resort in Reno 4th time going love it every time kids love it. Will definitely go back next year.

Review 14:We didn't know for sure if we would get two separate beds or just a big one to share. Of course we got the big one in every room. It's not a huge problem, but I like to know for sure what I'm getting when I book a room.

Review 15:The room and bathroom were really comfortable and clean.

Review 16:Parking was a bit scarce if you aren't using the valet service

Review 17:Great staff, resort has all you need under one roof. Buffet was wonderful, military discount.

Review 18:Room was not ready and received keys but room was not cleaned. Staff did a good job of compensation for my inconveniences.

Review 19:staff was friendly and great place for kids.

Review 20:Very poor customer service, staff didn't seem happy to be there, only one lady named Barbara out of the whole staff was helpful during our stay which she was at front desk

Review 21:Great food, variety of activities

Review 22:Our room was run down with dented and damaged furniture. We were put in a handicapped room in which talking a shower was difficult. No shampoo or conditioner so I had to request some to be brought to our room. For the price we paid, this was not what we expected. Below expectations.

Review 23:Location and activities are nice. Bed was comfortable.

Review 24:I would have love more stores for shopping and for them to be open a little longer.

Review 25:I love the fact that this hotel had lots for kids to do indore and outdoors. My children loved it!

Review 26:I was disappointed the hot tub and pool area was closed. The staff didn't offer any advise about what to do about signing up or where to go. We didn't even realize there was a breakfast room offered for the 27th floor. We also mentioned we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary, and they didn't even act like they cared. Let alone offer us anything. We have stayed at places half as nice and gotten champagne or room upgrade for birthdays or our regular anniversary before. One place even brought my daughter a card and beautiful chocolate plate with dipped strawberries for her birthday! We were a little surprised how indifferent we were treated. Also the check in was out of control, took over an hour. With nothing offered but a small bottle of water. While playing games it took the staff a very long time to approach us to ask if we would like anything. The wait for dinner was a very long line. We opted for room service which was quicker than expected but still 45 min wait.

Review 27:Style, and the views. Lots to do on site

Review 28:While we we waiting in summit checkin line, the lady and the gentleman who worked there were unprofessional and rude. After helping a lady in front of us, both of them completely ignored us for over 10 minutes. We have never had such terrible checkin experience before! However another gentleman (I believe his name is German) is kind and apologized for his co-coworkers behavior.

Review 29:A separate hotel checking line for summit and VIP members is very nice.

Review 30:Room had a real bad odor like curry. Had to go out to Walmart and buy a air freshner. housekeeping ran out of conditioner and body wash. i asked for a fridge for my daughters medication and it literally took 2 hours. I had to call several times and advised them her meds had to be in the fridge cause we just drove 6 hours in traffic to get to the hotel.

Review 31:Plenty of stuff for the kids to do without stepping out of the hotel.

Review 32:If you wanted a drink while gaming service was very slow that is if you could fine someone to take your order.one server on the casino floor took are order and never came back.my wife saw her put on her coat ahalf later and leave.I went to the barand complained and they comped us a couple of drinks but that wasn't the point.just plain rude. Also,we didn't get our room cleaned until after 5 pm.you call that service ?

Review 33:The casino right in front of lobby. Too much cigarette smoke for kids.

Review 34:The rooms were not ready even though we reached 5 hours later than checkin time. Even after that had to wait for 2 hours. The room was not cleaned everyday, only cleaned once in the 3 days we stayed.

Review 35:Non smoking area in casino... NOT!! THe whole building has a smokey air. Sign for our room posted - do not disturb- and housekeeping knocks???

Review 36:Room was spacious. Enjoyed the furia show with comp tickets.

Review 37:Arrived late due to weather very long drive greeted by a prune faced older woman who basically told me that's what you get for booking thru Booking.com went to room and it hadnt been cleaned. Ended having to stay another night and then had to haggled the price. Walking into a dirty room which btw we thought someone was actually in there was not the welcome I needed after the horrific long ride I endured to get there to attend the new cirque. Thank goodness the show was great and worth the drive.

Review 38:The show we attented

Review 39:Our room was great but the walk to it was quite long .

Review 40:Once again Grand Sierra was awesome as usual . The check in process was quick and efficient. My family has stayed here several times and it remains our go to when visiting the Reno/Tahoe area .

Review 41:Never had problems with valet before, the three staff in office must of been having an off day.

Review 42:My first choice for Reno if I can catch it at a reduced price.

Review 43:I upgraded to the newly remodeled tower and absolutely loved it. Nice size rooms, comfortable beds and loved the bathroom! Also had a refrigerator and microwave

Review 44:I'm disabled and the weather was miserable (Snow) I received much needed help from the entire hotel staff including security, registration, bell staff...I'm making this my stopover..

Review 45:Billing statement confusing not easy to understand. I've paid for all the 4 rooms, could have been charge in one go but instead 4 transactions occurred on my credit card therefore I was charged transaction fees & currency fee 4 times..

Review 46:-bowling, cinema and spa within the hotel -needed wheelchair and we had it straight away -we had a stunning view

Review 47:I didn't like that there was no fast food places close to the hotel, and no liquor stores near GSR.

Review 48:I liked that they had a bunch of things to do for our kids.

Review 49:I have always stayed at the Atlantis when in Reno 2 or 3 times a YEAR for the last 10+ years. I will now be staying at the GSR when in Reno. Best Rooms - Best Bartenders - best atmosphere - best card member perks - Best Food Etc., but most importantly BEST POKER MACHINES IN RENO!

Review 50:Booking.com quoted me a price but I actually had to pay $30.00 more when I got there....

Review 51:The waitresses were friendly and buffet was good but most of all I was happy to win $1500 in the casino!

Review 52:The room had a minor smoke smell that really made my throat scratchy. Also, there is no thermostat, only a wall unit for heat and AC.

Review 53:I liked that the room was huge, even for their most affordable room.

Review 54:Rooms were not very clean and bathrooms did not have enough light. We were unable to use the carts to bring our luggage up without a bellman.

Review 55:Lots to do and a fun environment for adults and older kids.

Review 56:I was pretty upset having to call for aomeone to come clean my room at 5 in the evening then i get abck from dinner at 8 to get ready all they need was make the bed half ass didnt take trash leave new towels not happy with that service at all didnt think i would have to call to get my room clean the half to call again for towels

Review 57:Night club pretty club buffet good for dinner but not for breakfast it was pretty nuch the same thing

Review 58:the only problem I had was that there were not enough ramps. You had to go all around to get to where you wanted to be.

Review 59:being handicapped the staff was very pleasant

Review 60:The shower was AWFUL. No hot water and no water pressure. Unfortunately I was too pressed for time to call and get it repaired.

Review 61:The price was ok....exactly what was I getting for a 15$ resort fee??

Review 62:The cost of food at all the restaurants is insanely high. Defiantly need more of a range of food prices for those on a budget

Review 63:Loved the spa! Defiantly worth the money

Review 64:The room we reserved was not available when we arrived. They would not let us keep the room we were given so we had to move the next day. We had to break into our schedule to return and move rooms. The final room was close to what sounded like the laundry and was going all night.

Review 65:The facility was attractive and convinient.

Review 66:Beds not comfortable at all. Housekeeping didn't always clean the room throughly. Left dirty coffee cups, towel on floor and just pulled up sheets and blankets. Not too professional !!

Review 67:Bed not comfortable

Review 68:Couldn't find handicap parking at side entrance. Coffee in Café was way too expensive.

Review 69:Food was good, loved happy hour in the sports lounge. Hozier and Little Green Cars were the best. Great seating anywhere. Staff very helpful. Workout center my husband loved. Stores were good value. Couldn't smell smoking, rooms great and roomy. VEX was fun both nights.

Review 70:Did you know that you can't turn the shower on without standing under the water? Also, you need a shuttle to get anywhere. Even a quick trip requires highway access. I'm not a fan of casinos, since I don't gamble and I'm not a smoker.

Review 71:The bathroom was amazing -- all marble tile. Decent view of the mountains. The most comfortable hotel bed that I've slept in.

Review 72:The elevators had issues - I got stuck on the 25 floor for awhile until someone called the elevator back down. I agree that smoking in the casino is a must since that is general practice but there were people smoking anywhere on the main floor and I think that should be limited if it is not allowed on the room floors.

Review 73:The staff was great although not overly personal and when traveling for business that is very important. The rooms were very modern and well kept daily. Bartending staff was very attentive.

Review 74:The race car area wasn't open when the brochure said it'd be open; we opted to pay extra for a late check out and probably, due to confusion, they locked up our keycard twice.

Review 75:Liked the idea of all the activities under one roof.

Review 76:The rooms may be in different towers, inconvenient if traveling with others on different rooms/towers. Beds were not the most comfortable.

Review 77:Restaurants, amenities, location

Review 78:were told that there were no discounts at the spa. If we lived in RENO we would have gotten a discount. I served 28 years and retired from the military and was told several times you didn't acknowledge military service or give our veterans any type of discount. Frankly, this is the last time that I will recommend or stay at your hotel and spa. I feel personally insulted and will pass this information on to all of my pilot buddies that fly for American , NW, Delta SouthWest. Piedmont, and any other airlines that I was associated with when their pilots came through our school upgrading to air defense fighter roles with 173rd fighter wing. (Air Guard Pilots)

Review 79:6we stayed at gsr for our 42 anniversary and felt like the rooms were not up to the expectations we were used in the past stays

Review 80:No luggage service to the lower RV lot where we were directed to park was kind of brutal. Those stairs.

Review 81:The GSR is the best place to stay after Burning Man. I've been going 3 years in a row now, and I love it. Can't imagine a Burning Man experience without relaxing here after. :)

Review 82:The fact that my daughter had a hard time checking in, after we were told by the staff at the casino that their would be no problem with her changing out my card (the room was already paid for) she got the runaround and was told no one their would have told her that? and the fact that I was on the road and could not do anything at the time was very disappointed... Thank god for booking.com who help her out after standing in line and not know if she had a room or not. Would not recommend this hotel....

Review 83:everything was mostly good but the bed sheets kept coming out during the night and the hall carpet wasn't vacuumed for the three days while there. There was a drink straw on the floor all during that time.

Review 84:It was a good relaxing time

Review 85:It said we were supposed to have a kitchenette in our room. We didn't even have a refrigerator. Also no safe in the room.

Review 86:All the things to do at the hotel. Bed was very comfortable.

Review 87:Hotel did not honor the price that was listed on booking.com when I reserved and charged me $55 more. The bathroom lighting was terrible.

Review 88:I liked that the grand theatre was downstairs and the shower was great. Room was large.

Review 89:I hate gambling machine noises. Player looks so stupid at 07.00 am dinking thei beer and loosing money....

Review 90:Location close to main higway Car park Room size Shuttle organization for Reno Air Races!

Review 91:The hotel is also a casino which forms the main hub of the communal areas, and this can get very hectic at times. It's certainly not the place to come if you're looking for a quiet, romantic getaway!

Review 92:Great hotel if you're looking for somewhere to stay with a wide range of facilities and restaurants. The room standard is also very high with two GIANT queen beds in most rooms.

Review 93:Received a low budget room in older part of hotel. Disappointed in room. No refrigerator or microwave. Room at the end of hall. Far away from everything.

Review 94:We love stayin here. This is the best hotel in Reno. It has everything you can ask for. Lots of entertainment and fun. Especially the beach style pool.

Review 95:If you wanted to be able to walk and play other casinos this is not the location you want. Cost was a little higher than many other casinos but the facility seemed well worth it.

Review 96:Buffet was phenomenal and you were given 2 for 1 buffets when you sign up for rewards. Perfect location to reno airport and rental car drop off. Room had a very nice mountain and airport view.

Review 97:The staff at answers the phone at Room service is not friendly and they seem rushed every time you call The Wifi was the worst it kept disconnecting me and called the help-desk line more than the nights I stayed

Review 98:The facilities are great, you have all you need inside the property, concerts, shows, movie tethers, shops and very nice restaurants the food was amazing!

Review 99:I upgraded on line, but when I arrived at the hotel, they didn't honor the upgrade. Check in told me I needed to pay more for the room I wanted. I told them I already paid for the upgrade on line. Eventually, they honored my upgrade without me having to pay more . What a hassle!

Review 100:Rooms are comfortable

Review 101:Great place to be before and after Burning Man. They accommodate our needs with out disruption to non Burner quests. They even had air compressors to clean the Playa dust from our luggage, and even my shoes. It was much appreciated, as was the ample RV parking.

Review 102:Huge line at dinner to get to the buffet. We have 2 years old baby and we couldn't wait for 30-40 minutes be we went to restaurant next door.

Review 103:The receptionist ,a girl from Estonia was very nice and sweet. Our room was large and clean. Beds are comfortable

Review 104:Employees need a refresher course in customer service. A smile goes a long way. Universaly the bartenders acted as if they were doing you a favor. Area in back where people smoked & people walked their dogs was filthy. I stayed 2 days cigarette buts were not cleaned up, stuff had leaked out of the trash cans & was not cleaned up. Also late at night security was not visible in this area.

Review 105:Many activities. Ability to have pet.

Review 106:We made the reservation over a month ago, requested a king bed, my husband is 6'5 and were given 2 queen beds. the room was very dirty as was the bath.

Review 107:Not much. we made the reservation over a month ago, requested a king bed, my husband is 6'5 and were given 2 queen beds. the room was very dirty as was the bath.

Review 108:The bed was VERY uncomfortable, and the room was not clean.

Review 109:The room was dirty, and the bed was a queen size. The mattress was bent in the middle which made it very uncomfortable.

Review 110:The room was not as quiet as we like.

Review 111:* The staff was really friendly. ***The room was immaculate! ***We also greatly appreciated that there was a microwave and a mid-size refrigerator. * The decor was contemporary and the restroom was stunning.

Review 112:Smoking. Unfortunately, you cannot avoid cigarette smoke while moving through the casino/restaurant level and they do not enforce the no-smonking rule on the spa level.

Review 113:This was after Burning Man and GSR prepared for that specific clientele. But we have also taken our kids to GSR in the past and they had a great time.

Review 114:called to reserve a bowling lane and they wouldn't take my name down they said i had to be there in person..so by the time i got downstairs it went from 25-30 min wait to 1hr or longer wait.

Review 115:bowling swimming pool buffet...yummm basically everything that can keep kids entertained

Review 116:Don't like long walks to in house facilities but realize there's no choice due to the size of the hotel. Am aware of scooters and may utilize one at future date.

Review 117:I like the convention facilities and in house restaurants.

Review 118:1st night was great. Second night I could here the elevator all night. Could not get any sleep due to it: advise is to use better sound insulation

Review 119:clean and simple room.

Review 120:The room smelled and carpet dingy. Elevators always overcrowded with like 7-8 stops (up to 15 people). Casino was super smokey and slot machines were horrible!! Very tight. Parking was also poor on the weekends. We were never given Free wi fi info or any breakfast specials and I paid a lot for the upgraded suite!!

Review 121:I liked the view and the bathroom and the shower (even though it smelled musty). The bed was comfortable

Review 122:only part I did not like... the staff didnt help with taxi service. kind of annoying. you have to pre-arrange a ride through them and if you dont. You have to wait on a corner in the sun to get a ride. but hey i guess i know now. ususally you tell valet or anyone out front and they arrange it. or help you. they passed us to 5 different people then to bell desk who finally explained it.

Review 123:I loved that the staff stood outside with air compressors and sprayed down the burning man people prior to entering. that was awesome. over all a great experience

Review 124:Everything was OK, no complaints.

Review 125:Considering its a smoking allowed casino it's very pleasant to be in. No overwhelming cigarette stink. Great pool area. Also pet friendly with free wi-fi that works well.

Review 126:Older facility, burned out light in bathroom still not replaced when I checked out 3 days after reporting it. Mexian restaurant was very bad and run down.

Review 127:Nice people, great steakhouse, and an excellent cafe.

Review 128:The Cantina restaurant was very disappointing for the money. The air circulation was not as good as expected. The bed was not very comfortable.

Review 129:The suite was very nice and spacious. The room had all expected amenities. The food overall was very good. Charlie Palmer's was a very nice steak dinner. The pool and spa were very enjoyable. The staff is very helpful and pleasant. Overall, we had a very enjoyable experience.

Review 130:The bathroom was large with 2 showers. One too small for adults. The other (tub/shower) knobs were loose and water wouldn't stay at desired temp.

Review 131:Quiet room (end of hall); comfortable bed

Review 132:We like that gsr had so many different things you could do and room was very nice and clean, check in and out was so easy and pain free even had upgraded room bonus .

Review 133:Didn't like that it took me almost 30 min to find a parking spot on a Saturday night.

Review 134:The pool is a must go to after all that walking in downtown reno! Casino was keeped real clean!

Review 135:The pillows on the bed were way to thick for both my wife and I. called room service and asked for softer pillows but they were still to over stuffed.

Review 136:Dinner at the steak house was very good but they need to have more less expensive wine selection in comparison to the Peppermill

Review 137:staff is a little sleepy, and I had to ask for a mgr to change the wrong dates of my resi, but once I got to her, she did it in a snap. bell staff was on point.

Review 138:great shopping in here, if you forgot anything or just didn't bring the right outfit or bathing suit, they will have it. bought gifts and t-shirts here too.

Review 139:Although the room was nice and comfortable it was dusty like it hadn't been stayed in for a while.

Review 140:My room Was very nice and the bathroom very nice w/ the marble.
