Reviews for Kim Lan Hotel

Review 1:- Room was quite bland/stark - Wifi was poor from the room (we were at the far end of the corridor).

Review 2:- Receptionist was very helpful and the security guys always opened the doors for us and greeted us with a smile. Shower was very powerful

Review 3:We found a gecko in the toilet, although it doesn't seem to be unusual in the area. No other pitfalls.

Review 4:Staff spoke excellent English, were super-helpful with booking and helped us with booking the next hotel who did not speak any English. The upgraded us to the VIP rooms and surprised us with a packed breakfast after knowing we were leaving very early in the morning.

Review 5:Kein Trinkwasser / kleine Zimmern wenn man Pech hat no drinking water Small rooms possible

Review 6:Lage / Mekong Tour mit englisch sprechendem Guide Location / Mekong tour with English speaking guide (25$ p.p.)

Review 7:Staff were excelllant. The rooms are small but clean and good bathrooms (just no shower curtain so gets a bit messy). Booked our market tour through hotel and it was really good and reasonably priced.

Review 8:A couple of things though make me think this hotel is not worth the high rating or price for the better rooms. Firstly we hired a motorbike, the first one I was given, the breaks were not only a little soft but almost completely shot. luckily I test every bike and it was the same make that I own so nobody was hurt, however nobody apologized and they were reluctant to get us another one upon request. When they did it was a functional but older version. It seemed too much trouble to just go and get another bike to satisfy their guests. I was not happy at this level of laziness. The rooms generally while nice were overpriced based on even their standard rate not the hiked up new years rate. While the room had a balcony it didn't have a view and the bed was small with just a foam mattress, not a $25 room in the Mekong I assure you! Finally the room supplies no free drinking water, uncommon and annoying in a hot country. So we drank the bottled water (usually if you do have to pay for any water with no freebies its a low price $0.25-0.5). The bottles came in at over $1 each, small bottles too. There was no price and the receptionist when we checked out just refused to believe their wasn't. So while this place is fair it does not deserve to be in the upper echelons of reviewed hotels!

Review 9:They upgraded my room, that was great as the basic/ standard rooms are windowless boxes. I would suggest avoiding those! One receptionist was lovely and helpful. The breakfast is small but ok for the price and the restaurant is on the top floor with a great view. They can help you set up a quick private trip to the floating market for $20 if you want to avoid the long tours. Room was clean and in a good condition. close to markets and river

Review 10:Staff moderately helpful. Breakfast ok, but nothing special. People smoking in the breakfast area.

Review 11:Good location, close to the river and shopping malls. We were upgraded to the VIP3 room, which had a terrace, semi-outdoor jacuzzi bathtub and a fish pond - quite a unique setup, and we highly recommend this room.

Review 12:- we arrived in the late evening and the reception guy was super unfriendly and not willing to help. He didn't even let us know about breakfast, didn't help in organising Mekong trip. We didn't feel welcomed

Review 13:- yummy breakfast - the rooms were clean and nice - the staff speaks good English

Review 14:Breakfast room on rooftop not open during the day & would be a nice space to relax as hotel has no lounge or bar

Review 15:Good location, lovely helpful staff most with good English. Good breakfast included. Tours organised from here were really excellent - we did a floating market boat trip & a Mekong home stay both with English speaking guides. Worth the cost. Kim was an absolute delight as our guide.

Review 16:The room was pretty nice und clean and the hotel was offering a very good breakfast with a great view from the 8th floor. I wouldn't expect anything more for hotel in that category. The staff was just awesome: always smiling and very helpful on every demand.

Review 17:Bed comfort was nothing special for a suite. Location is close to the points of interest, but for older travellers perhaps to far

Review 18:We were in the suite. Not spectacular on the inside, but nice terrace with hot tub. That's a cool experience. Location is ok, staff is friendly. You can book a tour to the markets with them, but it's cheaper to arrange it at the docks

Review 19:nothing

Review 20:We got a VIP-room, very clean and tidy, nice personal and we booked a really good 2-day tour to a homestay in the Mekong delta at the reception

Review 21:Impressively clean and comfort for a 2-star hotel. Staff is friendly and supportive. They help to book a tour to see the floating market on a short notice. Speaking of location, the hotel is within walking distance to Ben Ninh Kieu. I did not want to be surrounded by street vendors and noises specially at night. I believed I made the right choice to stay at this hotel.

Review 22:Room was large but looked a bit out of date. Lack of power sockets. No shower curtain in the bathroom. The area on that specific road is a bit seedy.

Review 23:The staff helped to organize onward travel with lots of commitment.

Review 24:Graded us up for free got a very nice room with a fantastique view over the City. The personal was very friendly spoke english perfect and organized us a really good tour. The Location is also perfect.

Review 25:Very good treatment, they received us with free welcome drinks and with a useful map explanation. They upgrade our room also for free and we could make an appointment with them to see the floatings markets. It is highly recommendable

Review 26:wifi reception was poor, and the connection was slow. More (and more conveniently placed) electrical points would have been useful to keep phones and iPads charged.

Review 27:Location is close enough to the centre without being too noisy. The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating - we took a tour (excellent) that lasted a little too long and we had to check out late. The staff were very understanding and helpful in arranging bus transfers, etc

Review 28:Some rooms have no window...

Review 29:Very simpel hotel in the center of can tho. Very friendly, helpful and perfect english speaking staff. We slept a night in the hotel and booked a 2 day trip with a hotels guide to see many amazing places in the mekong delta. We slept a night in the hotels home stay which is in the middle of nowhere and absolutely stunning! A must do!!!

Review 30:Saw a small baby cockroach which I eventually disappeared.

Review 31:Very friendly staffs who helped us to arrange for floating market tour and bus back to HCM. :) Hotel and room is clean and quiet, although facing main road.

Review 32:We were on honeymoon and they gave us the suite on the last floor with a very beautiful terrace (we paid for a lower level room). Staff is very friendly. Good location to visit the floating market (we did not use the hotel tour). Recommended!

Review 33:Nothing.

Review 34:Very nice hotel for almost no money. We got a free upgrade to the VIP room which was very nice, spacious and clean. Helpful and friendly staff. Definitely worth to spend your nights in Can Tho here!

Review 35:Wifi didn't work in our room but not really problem

Review 36:Very friendly and helpful staff especially the young lady on reception who spoke brilliant English and couldn't do more to help. Room modern, clean and spacious just like the photos. Good location close to waterfront and busier town area. Good Mekong delta tour booked through the hotel, defiantly recommend.

Review 37:No complaints about this one

Review 38:There were not a lot of tourists, we enjoyed the way they looked after us, Clean, friendly, welcoming place to stay. With a room up higher you get a lovely view.

Review 39:/

Review 40:The receptionist lady spoke perfect english and french (very atypical for the country. She was very very helpful and even upgraded us to a better room. The room was amazing. An appartment with an amazing balcony full of greens and beautiful view. Clean and wifi was on every floor. They organised a river tour for half of a price for twice the length compared to other offers we found! Only positive things to say!

Review 41:English speaking staff who can arrange a boat tour for you & bus tickets to your next destination; a clean room; bathroom with a bath; extremely good wifi, nice tarrace on the rooftop for breakfast; walking distance to the river and many restaurants & market. We were planning to stay only for one night, but stayed 2 :)

Review 42:The wifi in the room in the afternoon was non existence. Only effective at night after 12am. Beware that booking any tour at the hotel is more expensive.

Review 43:This hotel does provide a decent breakfast menu, a good selection for a longer stay - 3 5 days . The staff was helpful and accommodating . Location in the city of Can Tho is ideal ,close to the river mekong for boat and ferry rides, market, cafes, restaurants and museum and park.

Review 44:Breakfast was average (I know it's free/included so shouldn't expect much). Didn't have juice the first day. Second day went at 8.45 to find everything locked up, reception tried to claim it was already 9 (despite clock and my phone agreeing on time) - eventually they gave in and allowed me to have breakfast delivered to my room.

Review 45:Comfortable bed, clean bathroom. arranged a bus with hotel pick up to Chau Doc. They very kindly upgraded me when I arrived which was appreciated. Provided breakfast in my room after a misunderstanding (see below).

Review 46:Breakfast could be improved.

Review 47:Lovely and friendly staff, big thanks to Pham Kim, she was very helpful; Comfortable room, well equipped; Close to the port, markets and restaurants

Review 48:No mosquito net available in the room.

Review 49:We arrived in the middle of the night at the location because of delays on the road and still we were able to set up a spontaneous Mekong Delta tour for the next morning. The tour guide, Ca, provided by the hotel, picked us up and we had an amazing breakfast in the floating markets and visited great places. This hotel is definitely worth staying in if you are in Can Tho for one night and planing to go for a Delta tour! All in all the hotel is clean, quiet and close to the delta.

Review 50:Can Tho literally closes down about 10/10.30pm, but nothing to do with the hotel.

Review 51:Was in a perfect location close to the market and river. The floating market was great. Breakfast on the roof of the hotel was also very good.

Review 52:The breakfast was too little quantity for Westerners and the quality mediocre.

Review 53:Very helpful staff explaining in English anything we wish to do with our Vietnamese-speaking driver. Beautiful view from the 7th floor combined with private garden and fish pond. Very spacious VIP room (we got upgraded)

Review 54:not much to do at night but that isn't the hotels fault. we struggled getting a restaurant after 9 or 10

Review 55:The rooms themselves were cheap but clean and comfortable, everything you required

Review 56:Nothing

Review 57:Good English speaking staff, they helped us to organize bus tours and day trips They offer amazing trips to the Mekong delta and the floating markets The room and bathroom were very clean

Review 58:The mekong tour was expansive so we prefered taking another tour with another company

Review 59:Great place, quiet and clean. We were even given a better room than the one booked by the nice lady at the desk.

Review 60:The only problem was with the punctuality of the breakfast or the lack thereof. Because we booked our tour leaving early in the morning we had to get our breakfast on time, which we set the day before with the reception. The staff at the restaurant started prepairing things when we arrived on time so wet had a delay of almost 20 minutes until we had our breakfast and then we had to hurry. The same happened when we were leaving/checking out from the hotel. They definitely need to get better timing. Otherwise the rooftop breakfast is great.

Review 61:The hotel is located not too far from the river and close enough to many shops. We booked a half day tour with our private guide Ca and it was really great. We learned quite a bit about the area from him when we left the boat and started walking where you usually wouldn't get to. Thanks Ca! The room was comfortable and quiet. The staff was very friendly and we got upgraded for free. All in all we would definitely choose it again for staying.

Review 62:Nice hotel, nice service, excellent English skills and a really cool breakfast room on the top floor. They arranged an absolutely great tour with Ning/Toby to see the floating markets. He was an excellent guide and the 6 hours on the river gave us an extraordinary experience.

Review 63:View on the backside of the hotel is not nice.

Review 64:Good welcome (receptionist speaks good English, good location, nice quiet and clean room, nice view at the breakfast restaurant and helpfully with making a bus reservation.

Review 65:There was not the advertised king bed; all of the rooms have only basic doubles. The staff, however, found an extra bed and made us comfortable.

Review 66:The staff were very helpful, cheerful and friendly. We had a nice big room with a little balcony that had a garden and a little fountain with fish. We really enjoyed the breakfast freshly prepared for us each morning.

Review 67:This was a good in-transit hotel and Kim and Johnny at the front desk were friendly, spoke good English and were ready to help. Johnny arranged a tour on the river to the floating villages with a guide named Caw, who was a great young man with education and speaking efficient English. Breakfast was certainly adequate and the young women running the roof-top restaurant worked diligently to get us what we asked. Bed comfortable and clean.

Review 68:Good location. Spacious and clean rooms with a nice bathroom. Breakfast included. Very nice and helpful staff. Gerät organisation for boat tickets and bus tickets.

Review 69:Clean nice room with everything you need but not more. Good value for money. Friendly receptionist, but Can Tho was pretty much closed down for Tet holiday when we were there. Easy walking distance to harbor

Review 70:Nothing. Note that not all rooms have windows - so if you buy a cheap room and do not get an upgrade, you might end up in one of these.

Review 71:This place seems to upgrade customers on a regular basis. If this happens to you, the place offers great value - I got a VIP suite with wonderful views and super comfortable bed on 6th floor for 17 USD per night. Nice rooftop restaurant with good breakfast (not included in room price).

Review 72:We booked a standard room but there was no window on the room, not even a small to the corridor. Natural ventillation was also not possible. Tv was asvertised as flat screen but it was at least 10 years old. There was no cattle and we also had to ask for hairdrier - also advertised on booking... Room was smaller than 14m aircon was extremly load difficult to open bathroom doors

Review 73:Only downside: slow WiFi.

Review 74:The staff was super friendly, and the tour guides they hooked us up with were great, especially Quan. We stayed in Can Tho for four days, but really felt like we got to know the local life because of the tours. Also, the rooms were very clean. We considered upgrading to a V.I.P. room, which are much nicer than the regular rooms, but since our room was clean, we decided to save money... Next time, though. Finally, the hotel had good breakfasts with a great view.

Review 75:the pictures in booking are not the real rooms, standard rooms are without windows-the hotel should write this in internet!! rooms without windows should be cheaper.

Review 76:in the hotel you can book a very very nice trip to the mekong delta,we recommend the kim lan homestay-one of our highlights in vietnam!!the hotel in can tho is also very nice, nice staff!!

Review 77:We booked the standard rooms. The pictures shows a room with a window and in the explanation nothing otherwise identified. But the room was without a window and they haven't other free rooms. We looked in other hotel but got nothing because it was high season. So we had no other option as to take the room without the window.

Review 78:Room and bathroom was ok, big and clean.

Review 79:Airco above the bed. Warm water problems in the evening. Solar energy.

Review 80:Nice staff. really nice tours with a excellent guide. location ok Breakfast was nice.

Review 81:Although breakfast was included, the timings didn't fit with the boat trips

Review 82:Cleanliness, helpfulness of staff with booking my next bus journey, had boat trips on offer but didn't push them, upgraded me to a VIP room!

Review 83:Nothing to dislike

Review 84:Reception helpful and booked me on bus to Chau Doc which also picked me up by shuttle from hotel. They allowed me late check out early afternoon after visit to floating markets.

Review 85:Once the staff realised we wern't doing their tours they became less helpful which was disappointing. Given it's hig rating and mention in Lonely Planet i was expecting something more especially having stayed in better places for less money in Vietnam

Review 86:The hotel is a good location about five minutes walk from everything you need- the room good and staff friendly enough

Review 87:The pillows were too big for my taste. First night i slept badly. Second night i made up my own pillow with a pile of clothes!

Review 88:Very good welcoming from a charming young lady at the desk who spoke french( my mother tongue)

Review 89:some rooms with windows to the interiuer only - but still OK

Review 90:Breakfast on top floor is lovely, Staff is very friendly and helpful, Kim (the best one :-)) is helpful in organizing tours, Quiet rooms

Review 91:Clean, big rooms Nice breakfast for Vietnam Superfriendly staff They offer very good tours. We would suggest you take a tour with Kim as your private guide. Her English is perfect (the best english speaker in 5 weeks travelling in Vietnam). She is very passionate about her country, and she is an excellent guide! This was the best tour we had in Vietnam, and we had a great time.

Review 92:Nothing Staff were all wonderfully helpful

Review 93:Breakfast with a view and fantastic hospitality and helpfulness from all the staff Plus the Drink on arrival

Review 94:no security box in room. but you can keep your values at the lobby where they put this in a envelope and close it with adhesive tape. a very time consuming process. the location is not really perfect but it was a 10 minutes stroll to the mekong riverfront.

Review 95:first at all, i booked a superior room and at checkin they upgrated me for a suite without surcharge. the suite was on the 7th floor and has a balcony with plants and a fantastic view over the city. the very friendly staff especially the charmul lady ( pardon i forgt her name) was extremely helpful attentive. further i booked in kim lan a one day tour with motorbike to floating market and the countryside with gorgeous impressions from the rural life in mekong delta . the tour , not really cheap, was its price worth and is recommendable. after 2day trip in chaudoc i came back to kim lan, where i got a suite for the price for a superior room again.

Review 96:There was no possiblity to hang up some clothes or pack out anything. Very few space even for my travel bag.

Review 97:We had a very warm welcome from Kim. she offerd us an excursion to the floating market for the next day and it was a great day and absolutly worth the money we payed for the trip. Kim also gave us some names of good restaurants and useful tips where to go. The room was cleand and the bed comfortable. we did not have any noise in the nighttime.

Review 98:The view outside the window

Review 99:The staff is very helpful in organising tours and bus rides. We did the 1,5 day tour to the kim lan hotel which was an amazing experience i recommend to everyone.

Review 100:Intermittent and slow wifi Bad experience With there home stay Miserable, unhelpful owners!

Review 101:Large (upgraded) room Good views from restaurant Helpful reception staff

Review 102:not many choices available for breakfast. As often in Vietnam, staff will provide additional information (excursion, connection to next destinations,...) only if they provide the service you are looking for (and can earn the consequent commission)

Review 103:We reserved a deluxe room, and were upgraded to the suite, which is elegantly furnished, with access to a private rooftop with a Jacuzzi and even a pond. Amazing.

Review 104:excellent location, spacious and comfortable room, outstanding tour organiser fitting customer needs (Mekong custom evening dinner experience on private boat with musician for US$25 or very early morning floating market visit with taxi, boat and private guide for about $30) and a very fair price. a very nice experience.

Review 105:Hotel rooms were a little old / furniture breaking down, wifi was not great at all and we could not even book our hotel for our next travel and had to find another restaurant in the area to go to do this.

Review 106:Staff were extremely friendly and hospitable and made our stay amazing.

Review 107:Liked everything

Review 108:We were given a free upgrade which made our stay that much better after a long bus ride from Cambodia. Staff were excellent. Beds comfortable.

Review 109:Friendly and helpful staff, arranged tours, bus ticket etc .. Big room with nice views, air con, cable tv, wifi. 5 minute walk to the market and restaurants.

Review 110:I cant think of anything to mention.

Review 111:Great location, shirt walk from everything that Can Tho has to offer. Value for money is spot on! Excellent friendly and helpful staff! The homestay we booked through them is also fantastic especially if you get Johnny as your guide.

Review 112:No complaints.

Review 113:Loved the vip room and overall hotel atmosphere. Great staff. Very helpful when we wanted to visit the floating market very early. Would absolutely recommend this hotel.

Review 114:We was upgreded from a superior to a VIP room. Miss Kim was very nice, she had good advice on what to do in Can tho and took us for a morning boat trip to the floting market.

Review 115:Hotel great can walk to river & town.Stayed 4 nts & 1 nt at Kim Lan Homestay easy to arrange at hotel & visiting floating market on way.Our guide Quon alias Johnny was brilliant.Gave us so much information about Vietnam life.At Homestay we went for small boat trip along canals, cooking, fishing, biking&walking.Johnny really looked after us reminding us about sunscreen, mozzie spray etc.Food cooked by the family excellent.A trip not to be missed.

Review 116:We loved staying here! A welcome drink was really nice gesture, the staff is super friendly and they helped us a lot because we forgot our passports at the previous hotel-they called them and arrang d everything so that we got the passports the same day. The room was clean, we like the satellite tv, bed was nice. Worth staying there!

Review 117:They can t live the expectations. Uncomfortable hard beds. Breakfast is poor from a limited menu. BREAD IS NOT FRESH. but bakedoff, fruitjuice although on the menu everyday not available , 4 days, Breakfastroom on rooftop very sparsely furnished. Staff promises they can arrange tours and tickets but seem to lack initiative, skills and or knowledge to do so you have to arrange everything yourself. Only person who had the kwowledge Kim was two days off but was also not provided for her task. The guide for the floating market and night receptionist from Kim Lan was a litle bit sleepy. Promised an upgrade but no response. They didn t want to help when you had booked your travelschedul elsewhere because of lack of interest of other staff.

Review 118:Good location, clean rooms and two beds in the room, no further space. Good bathroom with hot shower.

Review 119:Not one complaint. Stayed 30 days. Would happily do so again.

Review 120:But no 5-star price. Can't miss here - in any category! Lovely!Safe, secure for solo females. Perfect location. Superb, attentive, responsive management. Good English at reception. Excellenthousekeeping. No tour pressure. Delightfully appointed rooms. Art workand greenery throughout the facility. Beautiful gleaming bathrooms.Substantial choices for breakfast in the 8th floor open-air restaurantwith great views of the city (misted to keep you cool). Try the pho andcaphe sua da. Choose a vip suite for definite, elegant honeymoonquality. (I looked at a few) (Prices for this property change onBooking.com.)

Review 121:Staff was very friendly, they helped us to book a great excursion on the mekong delta in their own homestay, which was amazing. The room also was great, we booked a standard one but got an upgrade when we arrived. Good location.

Review 122:The breakfast was kind of gross. The sheets had a weird design painted on them and it made them a little uncomfortable. The rooms were a little run down but it was alright for the price.

Review 123:The staff was kind. It was alright for the money but it was nothing special.

Review 124:Nice hotel, but what makes it special is the 1,5 days homestay tour. Book it! Informative and in a rural non-tourist area, with great food, really nice accomodation (bamboo bungalows) and an extraordinarily good guide. Definitely a highlight in our Vietnam trip.

Review 125:Hotel wifi was poor (didn't work it the room) and air con very slow.

Review 126:Friendly staff and good location. We booked the Homestay based on recommendations below: it was incredible! The Guide Jonny was brilliant and the experience was so genuine and informative. The Homestay accommodation was so remote and beautiful. All the activities were interesting and unique. The locals so friendly and no other tourists! Favourite part of our month in Vietnam. A must do experience! Great value for money.

Review 127:We got there early, because our flight time changed. Like lots of other reviewers we got a free upgrade to the VIP-room on the 8th floor and could get our room at 9 a.m. instead of 2p.m. We book a day tour, so maybe this helped for the upgrade ;). But nevertheless, the room was fantastic. Large rooftop terrace with wirlpool and a great view over Can Tho. The tour was great too. Kim even sang a song for us.

Review 128:The curtains in the room don't block any light while the windows are quite large, so you get awake early.

Review 129:The staff is really friendly. We've had a free upgrade to the top floor, the suite. Nice room with an outside bathroom and view over the city. The tour we booked with them was great as well, no other tourists along on the trip and we went to see places were no other tourists go to. It's a bit pricy but it's worth every penny. Great experience.
