Reviews for Inn at the Commons

Review 1:I had a room on the second floor and had to drag my overnight bag, laptop, purse and garmet bag up a flight of stairs. An elevator or a ramp would have been nice. Or possibly a warning from the Front Desk so I would have known to request a bottom floor room.

Review 2:I loved having a resturant and lounge on the property, and the complimentary breakfast. Also liked the Market at the Front Desk so I could pick up a snack.

Review 3:Location of the room on the site was the furthest point away from the lobby, where the food and bar was located.

Review 4:The rooms were clean and comfortable. The bed was great too

Review 5:Horribly noisy area; outside and other rooms. Hard to find parking near room. No room service? Not a good cable tv selection and grainy channels.

Review 6:Room seemed clean and amenities were good

Review 7:our room was literally right under the edge of the freeway, so the noise was very noticeable. if we hadn't been so exhausted from our travels, we would have likely been kept awake by the highway noise.

Review 8:very comfortable room; great mattress; excellent breakfast included.

Review 9:..everything was wonderful..not a single complaint!

Review 10:...everything was just perfect!...every detail was so well done...we decided we will never stay anywhere else in Medford!

Review 11:The walls are paper thin. I ws next to the boiler and it woke me up in the morning. Thought we were having an earthquake. Could hear the people in the next room all night. People talking outside my door at 2:00 AM. Very drunk, and I never really got any sleep.

Review 12:How easy the check in was. The comfort of the bed and pillows.

Review 13:It was raining when I stayed there and found it inconvenient that you had to go outside to get from the rooms to the lobby. No elevators to the outside upper rooms. My luggage was quite heavy and cumbersome dragging them up concrete stairs.

Review 14:I loved the comfy clean rooms. The restaurant and bar area were very nice too. Larks has really good food and I really appreciate the "local" food served there. The complimentary breakfast was also very very good.

Review 15:Was one of the more comfortable rooms I have ever stayed in and I travel a lot. Loved the semi private balcony, the hot breakfast and Amanda at the front desk was wonderful.

Review 16:Loved the cleanliness. Breakfast was a great start to our day. We had little ones and needed a place to stay on the last leg of our trip. Thank You.

Review 17:We were traveling with a toddler, and wanted a clean room for him to crawl in. The room was unacceptably dirty and his knees were black after just a few minutes of crawling. One of the waste baskets hadn't been emptied. He loved it, but we were alarmed.

Review 18:Really I'd say only two things were not so hot...the paint was lime green and local isn't best but not scary. So barely complaints at all

Review 19:The bet breakfast we have ever had at any hotel!! Seriously the night br we were at 600 dollar hotel and we got wafers bread and cereal....this place was a delicious scramble with potatoes toast bagels juice coffee....I could go on

Review 20:The grounds and rooms were very nice. Clean, bright and each had a balcony. Ours overlooked the creek behind the property. We were travelling with my Mother who needed a handicap accessible room and the staff was very helpful and also gave us a room as close as possible to her.

Review 21:,just a little tricky to find and certainly wouldn't have stumbled upon it

Review 22:great front desk service and the room was very clean and comfortable....lots of hot water too!

Review 23:The pictures on the website were only of there suites not of the actual rooms available it was a classic bait and switch and the staff seemed to be fully aware of this and made no apologies or accommodations.

Review 24:Our room was very comfortable, clean, quiet, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The lobby area was very nicely decorated and comfortable. Food in the restaurant at dinner was excellent; breakfast was good, too.

Review 25:The room smelled old and opening the window didn't help. They allow smoking on the balcony, so we felt trapped. The room wasn't entirely clean, and there was grime around the refrigerator.

Review 26:the bed was comfortable

Review 27:Staff member yelling at husband when reversing u haul. Also didn't see elevator and on second floor with many kids. No heated pool

Review 28:Amazing complimentary breakfast clean facility great price great value

Review 29:The staff was very friendly. Bed and room were incredibly comfortable, we had a great view of the creek. Great value for your money. Also the free breakfast buffet included was surprisingly gourmet.

Review 30:First room we were assigned was not made up. Second room, the toilet ran all the time, the shower head didn't spray, only pulsed, and some of the light bulbs were out.

Review 31:The location, once we found it was excellent. Close to restaurants.

Review 32:I like main buidling facilities so I don't have to walk outside. Owners are spending money on this place keep it up. Very nice main lobby.

Review 33:The breakfast was the best I have had at any hotel that provides free breakfast. Their egg dish was fantastic, real eggs, not like those pre cooked egg products provided by almost every chain.

Review 34:The restaurant was closed the night we were there.

Review 35:The beds and bedding were very nice day the room was clean with ample towels! Hotel is also pet friendly.

Review 36:Vanity lighting was as bad as is most hotels. Too bad they don't change to LED's.

Review 37:Their Kobi Beef hamburger was one of the best I have ever had.

Review 38:The river view (for which we paid extra) was a bit iffy, more like a large drainage ditch; the view across the water was of a park in the making under a raised freeway.

Review 39:Breakfast was good. Although it was close to the freeway the room was quiet. Room was quite spacious.

Review 40:Room & entire facility was very clean and well maintained & the bed was very comfortable. Saved me $80 over where I had stayed in town in the past. GREAT value for the $$$.

Review 41:Customer service was exceptional, from the front desk to the girls who work so hard in the breakfast room. The room was very clean and location of the hotel was right in the old downtown district. Many wonderful restaurants and shops.

Review 42:If at 1st I would have known this was an hotel strip, 2 floor hotel, Iprobably wouldnt have booked. The pics were deceiving in the propertytype, but after checking in and staying I would definitely stay thereagain. We did drive up to breakfast, so I would hate to have kids whowanted to play in the pool etc it would be a long walk in the elements.

Review 43:Their breakfast was phenomenal!!! Rooms were comfortable and roomy.

Review 44:Noisy next to freeway - ok with window shut, but since the view below the freeway is of river and park, one wants to open patio door..

Review 45:Very nice rooms, comfortable, well appointed.

Review 46:The neighborhood felt sketchy and old and the outside seemed uninviting. Overall everything was good

Review 47:The room was comfortable and updated. A great value for the money.

Review 48:the location was not very convenient; takes a little work to get to the hotel from the freeway & the restaurant on site was out of our price range

Review 49:Our room was very comfortable & clean

Review 50:The hotel looks like an old-style motel from the outside. Room doors open to the outside (no inside hallways). Don't be fooled by the external appearance!

Review 51:This is an exceptional value for the price! It was by far the best overall hotel on our 4 day trip driving from Washington to California. The staff, the comfort of the rooms and beds, the cleanliness in all areas were above what I expected for the price. And on top of all that, the food at the on-site Larks restaurant was outstanding as was the delicious, hot, full breakfast.

Review 52:Lack of handicapped parking, very noisy from freeway & pool/rec area. Also not a smoke free property, had to walk through a couple of clouds to get to our room.

Review 53:Clean room & bed

Review 54:Just an overnight as we were doing moving with box truck. They were able to accommodate our vehicle. Great to have excellent restaurant and full bar on site after exhausting day

Review 55:It used to be a Red Lion. It is a little worn but not bad.

Review 56:We liked that it was very quiet and the complimentary breakfast (which is from a popular local restaurant) is definitely a notch or two or three higher than most hotels in this comfort category

Review 57:Watching the drug deals across the river from our quaint little balcony, definitely not the hotels fault. The exterior does reflect how nice this hotel really is. Don't let the outside deter you, the inside and staff are the diamonds in the rough.

Review 58:The office staff were very welcoming. Beautiful lobby. Rooms were very comfortable.

Review 59:Breakfast with scrambled eggs was good, but they could add just plain sausages also.

Review 60:Very good value for money. Not low cost but not very high cost as well. Artistic build and decorations of whole property (esp. the reception and restaurant). Nice people at reception. Room and bathroom well kept and organized. Nice balcony. Bathroom big and well designed. One stretch of the rooms have good view or creek and park.

Review 61:The photos do not show that this motel is the old-fashioned two-story type of the 60's-70's era, with no elevator to the second floor. Not great for a person with knee replacements for whom stairs present a problem even without luggage.

Review 62:The room was clean and quiet. The conference facilities in the main building (and shown in photos of the place) were lovely.

Review 63:bath was poorly stocked(for 1 person), there was no sealant around the. the grout in the tile was dirty, there where ants n spiders in the bath. I had a dirty pillow and case, the carpet was stained and the air conditioner was loud. No tv guide in rm or on control.

Review 64:The bed was very comfortable, micro n fridge worked. nice flat screen tv.

Review 65:I book a king room with a tube for 2. We checked in at 1:15 pm got to our room there was only a regular shower/tub combo and the front desk made no effort to correct the wrong room being given to us

Review 66:The bed was very comfortable and the view of the river and park was supurb

Review 67:Lobby was difficult to find for check in. The entrance is marked by a Larks restaurant sign.

Review 68:The pool was very clean with lots of chairs, tables, and umbrellas.

Review 69:The breakfast was not great so we went elsewhere and view of the river was not great.

Review 70:The location was pretty central and we were able to walk to coffee in the morning and bars at night.

Review 71:Breakfast includes mini-buffet (omelette-scrambled eggs, hash browns, plus good quality continental breakfast items), very clean and comfortable. Excellent renovation of an older property.

Review 72:Parking lot and building appeared pretty sketchy and non-inviting. Seemed like there were only a few people staying here, which made us feel even less comfortable. We even looked outside a few times to make sure the car was okay.

Review 73:Friendly front desk staff.

Review 74:The room was incredibly well-kept and comfortable, and basically anything I could have needed was provided. I woke up a bit too late to take advantage of the free breakfast, but the on-site restaurant looked very professional. Would definitely stay again on my next trip up!

Review 75:The only drawback is that their restaurant closes really early. I was told this is because all the local pubs and bars are required to serve food as long as they serve alcohol... But, easy walk to those, as mentioned above. Breakfast was tasty and filling.

Review 76:Was in Medford for a business meeting, and found this gem in downtown area. Easy walking to several local pubs, eateries, and not too far from their mall. Also centrally located, easy to come and go. Nicely updated, and great staff!

Review 77:More information when we check in about needing a voucher for breakfast in the morning to come by the front desk to get one. Not good when the lady that is taking care of the breakfast needs a voucher and looking at her with questions.

Review 78:Beds were comfortable and very clean

Review 79:Room had a mildew smell but was clean.

Review 80:Great location. Easy to get to from free way. Room was large and we liked that there was a real fireplace not gas.

Review 81:After driving for 12 hours we arrived at the hotel at midnight and they had given our room away and had no room for us. We told them earlier in the day we would be in very late and they said ok. A horrible experience. They put us up at a quality in down the street.

Review 82:Nothing

Review 83:I wish the breakfast bar was opened till a bit later. May be till 10:00 am. When I stayed there it closed at 9:30

Review 84:Loved the restaurant they have in the Hotel - The Lark. My kids and us enjoyed the most wonderful dinner. They have a kid friendly menu. And mom and dad can have cocktails from the full service bar. I had blood orange margarita that was excellent.

Review 85:When I drove up to the property I felt it was in a less than desirable neighborhood. And why are you hiding the front desk? When I drove up I couldn't find the office to check in. Had to call them to guide me him.

Review 86:The room itself was very nice.

Review 87:Breakfast wasn't good. Eggs were not done and cold. Potatoes were mushy and greasy. Couldn't find any bowls for cereal. Two servers just standing around leaning on sign. Not very impressed.

Review 88:No fan in the bathroom..... Outside may need some updates. Better signage at the main entrance/street view.

Review 89:Very cozy, great amenities when traveling with a 3 month old.

Review 90:I didn't have a bad experience, it was just that the place looked like a Super 8. The bathroom needs updating and tile grout cleaned. The breakfast staff was slow to bring food out...I didn't have time to wait and left.

Review 91:The bed linens were superb.

Review 92:I appreciated being able to check in earlier than planned; how quiet the room was; and overall available accommodations.I was unable to use the full package because of own time crunch, but would love to go back again sometime. Very relaxing and friendly!

Review 93:The outside does not reflect the inside. The odd choice of paint colors makes it look a lot cheesier than it actually is once you get inside. The restaurant is over-priced. There should be more food and coffee available 24 hours. The channel selection for the TV is limited, no guide, no On demand, no HBO.

Review 94:The refurbished rooms are nice. You can walk to good places to eat as long as it's before 5pm. The free breakfast is hearty and tastes great. Clean and safe. The staff were friendly and handle themselves well.

Review 95:Wi fi was free but had lots of trouble accessing it.

Review 96:The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff was cheerful and efficient. Breakfast was very good. Parking was excellent. No noise. Good location for us.

Review 97:6:30am flight meant leaving before Continental breakfast is served. And we checked in and out while it was dark outside, so we couldn't see Bear Creek behind the building. Probably not salmon this time of year, anyway!

Review 98:Close to the airport: park & ride at newly remodeled hotel with friendly staff and LOVELY restaurant!

Review 99:No Elevator, upgraded older motel-style hotel, restaurant & bar close at 9:00pm.

Review 100:Great restaurant, rooms outfitted nicely, excellent free breakfast

Review 101:The outside appearance - caused us to check the room before we agreed to stay. But it was surprising how nice it was... glad we did not just drive by.

Review 102:Lots of employees to quickly get the rooms ready - and those employees we found to be more than helpful. A 10+ for your employees.... Price was very reasonable

Review 103:Location is a bit off the track, but if you have a GPS or smart phone it's easy to find.

Review 104:Clean room, nice mattress, spacious bathroom, friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was especially good for a hotel breakfast. We ate dinner at the restaurant on site and it was good, too.

Review 105:Asked for ADA, got a standard room with low height lavatory, narrow hallway and step in tub that I couldn't use. Discount booking placed us in room up against freeway and all the way in back. Free breakfast awful: all carbs except for overcooked scrambled eggs. No bacon, no sausage.

Review 106:Cleanliness of room, bed comfort and wi-fi connection, friendliness of staff.

Review 107:Very unhappy with this hotel. First, after driving 10 hours and getting in after midnight (I called and told would be in very late) I was told that I couldn't pay in cash (as Booking.com) allows to set up. I was traveling with just my 9 year old and we were both exhausted and I had just pulled out the last of my money, the front desk clerk was rude and not understanding. I was horrified at his response, exhausted and worried about where my child and I would sleep for the night! After two other attempts at other hotels Shilo Inn allowed us to pay in cash and just a small deposit. I physically couldn't drive any farther and besides sleeping in my car which wasn't an option I was furious with Inn at the Commons. Never ever ever stay here! I will tell everyone I know to not stay here!!!! Booking.com should remove them from their site.

Review 108:Nothing!

Review 109:The restaurant closes for dinner at 8pm. Not god when you are traveling long days by car.

Review 110:Worth twice the price they charge. Park at your front door for easy luggage unloading.

Review 111:Breakfast should have been better--it looked good but tasted awful. Located in a business park, not near anything interesting.

Review 112:Room was very comfortable and spacious--excellent bed. Nice little balcony overlooking the creek (and freeway, unfortunately).

Review 113:Air conditioner fan noise

Review 114:We were there for a cycling event, the staff was very nice and the rooms were fine. The cost was good and we would stay there again.

Review 115:The parking was kind of a pain as we were on vacation we came an went and seemed to have problems a few times getting a spot near our room. Also the dining area for the free breakfast could be a bit bigger or a better set up because it was packed and a lot of people didn't have places to sit but those are very trivial problems.

Review 116:They are still remodeling the outside but dont be scared the hotel is very nice. The bed is very comfortable. Our first room had a strong stale oder. I called the front desk and they came over apologized many times and moved us rooms. The 2nd room had no problems! The breakfast that was provided was way better than I expected. I would recommend staying there

Review 117:We didn't care much for the breakfast that was available.

Review 118:The room was comfortable. We liked being able to sit on our balcony and enjoy the fresh air.

Review 119:Plant a few small bushes/trees between creek and room balcony for more of a sense of privacy and security. Ladies began putting plates and food away at one minute before breakfast time was up. Ummm, not cool. If it is served until 9:30, I should be able to arrive at or before that time and eat past that time without hurrying. mold in tub area- use bleach to remove

Review 120:Quiet, small room, overlooking creek. Excellent breakfast, especially eggs and sausage! Warmish pool. Comfy bed. Cleaning staff was courteous and did a great job. Check in was quick and friendly. Hotel was clean, quiet, staff helpful. I thought the price was great! We will return again. (My suggestions are only because you asked... (what I didn't like)

Review 121:I have eaten at hundreds of free breakfast hotels and this was the worse!

Review 122:Great balcony over pool! Forgot my wallet in roomed they took care of it for me!!

Review 123:The place was cited as recently remodeled, i think the only thing that got the work was the lobby, and minimal at best. We stayed here several times when it was Red Lion and the only thing that changed in the rooms was the bedding.

Review 124:Location

Review 125:The bathroom had a bit of a bad smell like an old used washcloth had been sitting too long. A clump of someone else's hair was stuck to the shower wall. Went to give my daughter a shower and the drain was completely clogged. Called room service, but unfortunately "engineering" had gone home for the day. Had it not been for that it would have been a better stay for us.

Review 126:We only stayed one night as we were passing through on our drive home. Beds were comfortable, staff seemed friendly. We didn't try out the outdoor pool. Rooms were tidy.

Review 127:Only complaint is that the key card took a bit of finesse to work properly.

Review 128:We loved the staff, the décor, the cleanliness and the food at the Larks restaurant was superb! We have been staying in the area for 30 years as a halfway point for our families and are thrilled to have found this gem when our "usual" chain hotel was booked. We won't be going there anymore as this was a fabulous experience for us.

Review 129:Very comfortable place to stay. We had been traveling and searched for a place to stay. Very pleased that we found the Inn at the Commons. Walking distance to several pubs.

Review 130:patio door would barely open.Carpet in the unit was terribly stained and dirty, did not appear to have ever been vacuumed, there were nail clippings on the floor. The room keys did not wotk alot of the time. I saw an employee drag a hose to water trees at the river bank and step over litter rather than pick it up. The pool water was clear and the pool was not discolored but ther were alot of leaves in the bottom of the pool. The room we were in and the rooms under the office area smelled of mildew.

Review 131:bathroom and beds were nice and clean. The restaurant was great. Breakfast was good and on time.

Review 132:The restaurant is great.

Review 133:This was a great place to stay. We were very surprised at how clean and comfortable the room was . The restaurant Larks was phenomenal. The food and service was amazing. My husband and I recommend it highly.

Review 134:Room behind restaurant was noisy in the morning during unloading. Entrance tricky for first time arrivals.

Review 135:Good breakfast! Nice bedding. Friendly maid staff. Very good value. I'll absolutely stay here again! :-) Lobby is big and pleasant, too.
