Reviews for Golden Central Hotel Saigon
Review 1:Very small room with a bad layout absolutely nowhere to put your bags. Breakfast was very poor quality nothing tasted fresh. A basic tourist hotel with nothing much to offer compared to all the other hotels we stayed in Vietnam.
Review 2:The only thing I liked about this hotel was the location.
Review 3:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast had plenty of options to chose from. The bar on the top floor overlooking the city was great to sit in and relax after touring the city.
Review 4:Room was a little small but in a big city its what you can expect with the cost - value for money - all right for 1 night stay - i wouldnt want to stay there any longer then that really.
Review 5:Shower in the bathroom!
Review 6:The hotel was very outdated and pretty dirty. Considering that it was a higher price than most in the area, I didn't think it was very good value. The walls were dirty and there was hair everywhere on the floor in the room and bathroom. That was gross. The pool was gross and small. The pictures were entirely deceiving and made it seem much nicer.
Review 7:It was a great location -- although there are plenty of other hotels in the area that are a better value and better looking.
Review 8:This hotel is most definitely not a 4 stars. Because of this reason, it is slightly expensive. Keep your expectations low and will be ok.
Review 9:Overall there were no major problems.
Review 10:No complaints at all, tho drinks in the bar were a little pricey.
Review 11:So close to the Ben Than market and right in the heart of Ho Chi Minh. The staff were very friendly and it was a great place to finish our holiday. Could walk to the bus station in less than 10 minutes to get to the airport... So convenient.
Review 12:breakfast wasnt amazing and lack of sunchairs.. Room was old and very weathered. pictures were misleading
Review 13:location and value for money swimming pool was also nice
Review 14:This is not a 4 star hotel, maximum 3 star - seriously! The room was so small that after 2 people and 2 suitcases there wasn´t any space left. The whole interior is tired, old and dirty. Instead of embroidering the logos on pillowcases, they should consider painting the walls. There was no soap and no hairdryer in the bathroom. The breakfast is poor and not well organised - they had trouble filling the coffee pot and once started to prepare eggs/omlet half an hour later (half an hour after the official beginning of breakfast). And rooftop pool area is TERRIBLE! Extremely small, ugly, tired and the deck chairs are next to gim exercise machines, with practically no space in between:) The official pictures on booking.com are very far from reality, especially the pool area. I know that the reality is always different from pictures, however we did not expect this much difference! And we are not picky and touchy people. If you are looking for good 4 star hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, this is not the hotel for you. We would not go there again, for sure.
Review 15:The only good thing was the location. However considering that there are lots of hotels in that area, this is not much of a preference. We stayed at Edenstar a week earlier and really regret that we did not go back there. It was 5 min more to walk, however MUCH better hotel and also less expensive.
Review 16:Terrible service, extortionate drink pricing, inaccurate photos (must have been taken years ago), the "pool" is terrible and more like a swim spa/sunken above ground pool. Breakfast seemed days old.
Review 17:Good location and good views from the roof.
Review 18:The pool. The picture you have on your site is totally misleading and that's what we based our decision on. We felt totally conned. The pool is nothing like the picture shown. And there is no gym despite it being advertised. Just a couple of machines by the pool which mainly serve as a mop and bucket stand.
Review 19:The location was central and easy to get to most places we wanted.
Review 20:Small beds even for one person. Rustic soviet feel. Really bad low AC. Really bad WIFI , it didn't even work in the room. I had to sit by the door to get wifi
Review 21:Good location. Right downtown. Breakfast had good Gouda cheese. Good shower.
Review 22:Rooms were a bit small for the price. I was expecting something a bit bigger.
Review 23:Location was great. Hotel rooms were clean. Staff were friendly. Food was good.
Review 24:Really minor points. The restaurant was a little expensive compared to the hotel price. It rained a lot while we were there and there is little to do outside of spa and gym. The staff could be a little too attentive.
Review 25:From the moment we walked in the entrance of the hotel we were stunned. A beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. We had an upgraded room with a sea view which added to the sense of luxury. The large pool is fantastic, huge buffett breakfast, really good restaurant. Stay there!
Review 26:Need and upgrading, Shabby interior, Old bathroom, dangerous showercabin. the glas exploded in ours when we opened the door. The hotel occused us and stoled 150 US dollar from our account. They didn´t compensated us att all. Im glad im didn´t get blind from the glass when the showerdoor explode. unbeliveble!! Booking.com didnt helped us at all :(((
Review 27:Nothing
Review 28:The hotel has old furniture, it is expensive for the conditions offered. The breakfast is low quality.
Review 29:Great location, in the city distance, walking distance to all point of interest
Review 30:The breakfast is very poor, quality of food is one star. The room is badly lit, hard to see. Pool small and not enough room for more sunbeds
Review 31:Friendly staff.
Review 32:I stayed here on the last night of my trip in Vietnam. I wanted to end the journey a bit in style as I stayed in a lot of 5 dollar hostels earlier. The staff is very friendly: They helped me with the questions I had, arranged the taxi to the airport and carried my bag to the eighth floor. My room was clean, the shower is great and no noise from the outside traffic whatsoever, so I had a good night sleep. The pool, bar and restaurant on the 16th and 17th floor are great. Great stay!
Review 33:The constant jam, so it would be better to walk out of this area to take transport, instead of getting stuck in the jam in the vehicle.
Review 34:The convenience to Ben Thanh market
Review 35:Needs to improve on lighting in the room. No change of bedsheets for 5 nights stay. Window cannot be open and no view
Review 36:Location. Staff friendly, helpful Breakfast not too bad, Mr Filter takes Oder for breakfast to get it right.a good coordinator .
Review 37:Room is very small Air-cond is not cold and even after complaint made Breakfast same menu as we dont take beef n pork
Review 38:Location of the hotel and good customer service
Review 39:Hotel is old and the rooms are really small. Breakfast was not good at all and the pool was really small.
Review 40:the wine is not very good, one glass was off bottle open to long no attention to detail no soap, missed morning call to room
Review 41:very good location staff very friendly fantastic view from 16th floor
Review 42:We had booked 2 deluxe rooms after looking at pictures online. Pictures are misleading. The Deluxe rooms are extremely small with hardly any ventilation. Our request for better rooms on higher floors wasn't accommodated. We finally had to pay extra and get upgraded to the suite which although comfortable were expensive. All I would say is if you are looking for comfort you may be better off booking some other facility
Review 43:1) Location of the Hotel 2) The Suite is decent 3) Breakfast was alright
Review 44:Small pool area with limited space for sunbeds. It was still nice to have a pool however so no real complaint there
Review 45:A reasonable price. Good location in close proximity to market & extensive parklands to the side. Breakfast enjoyed in spacious rooms with great views across city.
Review 46:N/A
Review 47:The staff were sensational, from the second we stepped out of the taxi, we were looked after. The room was spacious and incredibly clean. Loved the pool area.
Review 48:The pool area was okay but the advertised "fitness centre" is just a couple of treadmills and some machines by the pool. Not that we saw anybody use it anyway and there are plenty of beautiful parks to work out in.
Review 49:The room was clean and comfortable. The windows were huge and the view over the city was amazing. The breakfast provided was outstanding and the view from the restaurant on the 17th floor was breathtaking. Definitely recommended to get there early to get a window seat and watch the sun rise over the city.
Review 50:One thing I do not understand: Why all bread and pastry served for breakfast is baked day before? Stale bread was a bit off let down for me. Hopefully it will improve in the future.
Review 51:Overall great experience.
Review 52:The rooms are too small and no facilities in the room with a very clumsy bathroom. No power sockets in the room to charge devices. The rooms are clean with comfortable beds though.
Review 53:The location is the single best thing about this property. The service is also equally good with staff being very supportive.
Review 54:Because of the swimmingpool picture i was so exited how it is to be there in real life. i am so sorry.. the swimmingpool was not nice at all
Review 55:The rooms are really clean and comfortable The stuff are really fast and friendly Breakfast was also delicious
Review 56:In-hotel tour desk price was much more expensive than street tour agencies (more than usual)
Review 57:-Excellent location -Polite staff -Fresh breakfast -Clean room
Review 58:Pool didn't resemble photograph, shower area definitely not 4* and pool water not clean.
Review 59:Generally friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location. Good breakfast. Very comfortable bed.
Review 60:My room being stuck between a group of mainland Chinese. Sleeping was almost impossível before 3AM. They used the corridor as they'r own area. Shoutting, bangging doors that strangely would then be kept open until the party was over. Smoking all over the place! Terrible experience. Called reception a few times, but nothing seemed to stop them. Guests that have no manners should be acomodated somewhere else.
Review 61:Staff was excellent
Review 62:they don't have a correction pen.
Review 63:It's excellent location and they have many taxi standby outside the hotel. very good strong WiFi. staff is friendly.
Review 64:The hotel says that it has a gym but there are only a couple of very old (some don't work) running machines and a bike.
Review 65:The location was very good for central attractions.
Review 66:Not good value for money, rooms are small and dark, sun NEVER gets to the pool ( which by the way doesn't look like in the pictures at all) You definitely can get something better for that money
Review 67:Breakfast is amazing
Review 68:room is quite small and so is the swimming pool. The price is quite steap but it was worth it.
Review 69:Perfect location, friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast (at the top-level of the hotel with a great view), pool on the roof.
Review 70:The room was really small, but, clean. Facilities were okay. Not too many options in breakfast - same stuff for all the days we stayed there.
Review 71:Loved the location, its right next to the Ben Than Market and walking distance to other locations. We used to shop, come back and drop all the stuff and then head out again :)
Review 72:Trainee staff left alone at front desk was not a good idea and she had some difficulty with English language causing some miscommunication during check out.
Review 73:Location was good. Just one block away from Ben Thanh market. Overall condition of hotel was good and new.
Review 74:room was a bit small for a twin- beds very squashed together. Don't buy the tours from the hotel. charged over 30Us more than we could have got booking through a agent outside the hotel.
Review 75:location was great, staff were helpful. bar food was good and breakfast was lovely. Spa was nice too... bit more expensive then other places but its nice.
Review 76:The gym good be improved as it is located at the pool and thus outside.
Review 77:In general we enjoyed the stay at the Golden Central Hotel. The staff was extremly accomodating and the room was cozy, wonderful and clean. We really loved the breakfast! There had been cheese (Gouda) for breakfast!
Review 78:The housekeeper who on my checkout reported that I had not left the bed throw in the room. It was.....
Review 79:Location, reception staff, breakfast, WiFi, prompt elevators, pool, concierge.
Review 80:The cleaniless in not good (we changed room because the bed was dirty) the swimming pool is little and ugly. The gym is not a proper gym is just a treadmill in the outside (impossible to work out due to the weather)
Review 81:The location is fine (very central)
Review 82:The staff approached us in very rough way, demanding payment on the check-in. Hotel doesn't seem to meet 4* standards, the room was claustrophobic and stuffy, with outdated design and unpleasant furniture.
Review 83:Location is nice, very central street in the city.
Review 84:Bathroom was almost as big as the bedroom, not much space if travelling as a couple. Limited choice of western food at breakfast although was OK. Limited toiletries....
Review 85:Staff , location.
Review 86:The staff : some were doing exercise using the facilities next to the pool while clients were still around, very unprofessional we thought it was à joke at first but the show went on for 1/2h. No hello/no smile from any of the staff member during breakfast, all seemed really unhappy and bored to be here. The swimming pool was extremely cold and really old. The lining is coming loose from everywhere. The room: seems like furnitures have not been changed for decades in the room, except for the shower cabin which really contrasts with the rest.. By far our worst stay in Vietnam, definitely not worth the price we paid for, which cannot be motivated by the location and the swimming pool.
Review 87:Central location close to the market, museums, shops and the backpackers district. The receptionists and the guy carrying luggages.
Review 88:We asked reception to order us taxi the night before to bring us to the bus station and we confirmed the time with them several times. We were still left waiting for 20 minutes and when asked again we were told they don't book taxis and to get our own from the street. Nearly missed our bus! No apology given!
Review 89:Some umbrellas by the pool were totally broken and old and we detected two cockroaches by the pool. The so-called gym looked like a joke - there were just some exercisers standing next to the pool.
Review 90:Our room was excellent with magnificent views over the city. The bathroom was spacious and comfortable. Good amenities and very good shower. We asked for a earlier check-in and they did everything they could to help us. We had just arrived to Saigon by night-train (soft seats, so no sleep). Meanwhile we could relax by the pool. The pool is small and there are not many sunbeds, but luckily it was not crowded. Breakfast was very good and it was in the top floor restaurant. The morning views were very beautiful and it was really luxurious to eat breakfast like that. The staff was always smiling, helping and friendly. The whole interior and furniture in the hotel was comfy and warm. Good wifi and nice computers and sofas in the reception area.
Review 91:Cleaning staff not thorough. One day forgot to replace free bottles of water. Another day forgot to replace shower gel and shampoo.
Review 92:Hotel is situated near lots of eating places. Enjoyed the 25% off spa.
Review 93:Before checking 3 days ago,i been call hotel to confirm the room and checking time, the reply is everything ok,but when i checking on the 11:15 the counter want me wait to 3pm,after argue then give me a small room,i will never stay the hotel again.
Review 94:Comfortable bed, well positioned in the city, okay prices in the bar, nice and clean room. Staff speak good english and booking our transport from HCMC to DaLat was a breeze!!
Review 95:It is not a gym, but a little equipment outside in the sun with no wind and no fans. Very pretentious - thinks they are very fancy, but are actually not.
Review 96:Good wifi
Review 97:Tiny room, when you entered the room you bumped into the wardrobe. Doesn't match the pictures. Swimming pool looks mucn better on the pictures too.
Review 98:Breakfast was great, very comfortable bed.
Review 99:NO ironing. Ridiculous. All must be sent to lousy laundry services. Need to be reIRON.
Review 100:Love the location!!! 2 mins walk to Ben Thanh Market and 5-10 mins walk to Reunification Palace and War Remnant Musuem. The spa is superb and very affordable. The staves are friendly. Swimming pool is awesome.
Review 101:The room was too small while the bathroom was a little big. The room's wall was dirty and looked old compared to the 4 Star Hotel Normal Standard, I did expect more than that. With the money i paid for the room, it did not worth at all. I even think a normal 2 star Hotel near that location can offer a same-standard room as Golden.
Review 102:Thanks God that Services took it all, Services here was the best thing. Staffs were so nice and friendly.
Review 103:The reception staff on checking in. Both staff members appeared to find answering questions about the location of the hotel on a map and other questions an inconvenience. Generally staff seemed more concerned about lolling at their phones rather than doing their job. The travel desk and concierge were always helpful. The pool was quite small and not terribly inviting. The housekeeping staff knocked on door to clean the room before 10 a.m. When I said no they seemed to be quite perplexed why we didn't want the room cleaned at that time.
Review 104:The location of the hotel is fabulous. Round the corner from the Ben Thanh market and a few blocks from the main sights such a the war museum and reunification palace. The breakfast buffet covers all tastes and the view from the restaurant is fantastic. Some of the staff are helpful. The rooms are comfortable and quiet.
Review 105:Front desk receptionist was helpful, with good English skills. Everything was okay with this hotel. The room was comfortable and quiet... no complaints at all
Review 106:The food in the restaurant in the evening was below par along with the service from the waiters
Review 107:A nice clean hotel with mod cons and relatively well located so you can walk to most tourist attractions
Review 108:Breakfast could be better, pool small, wifi was weak. Couldn't check out late, even if paid surcharge.
Review 109:Bell staff very courteous and helpful. Good location in the middle of everything. Very nice hotel, incredible value.
Review 110:Thoroughly enjoyed my stay
Review 111:I liked everything about this hotel, location was ideal, staff were courteous and helpful, facilities were clean . Nothing bad to say
Review 112:Just little things like tissues in the room, mini bar and tea/coffe re-stocking would help to maintain their 4 star status.
Review 113:Great staff very helpful, great location value for money
Review 114:The rooms are not as big as shown in photos, much smaller rooms and bathroom. The swimming pool is like a giant bath tub placed outside.
Review 115:Location was good, breakfast was decent
Review 116:Room was really small but clean. Pool was ok. Nice to have one but don't book just because of pool. Kinda small
Review 117:Clean room, really close to the Ben Thanh Market. Close enough to the war museum.
Review 118:The concierge was a bit dodgy - telling us not to book a tour with the hotel but to come to him to book a tour and to be careful with our valuables. Staff arrived to change the towels at 5pm. It was all a bit suspicious. The breakfast was poor.
Review 119:Proximity to the night markets was great. The view from the pool area was cool.
Review 120:Breakfast was poor, room was small for the money in comparison to other hotels for similar price and location that I've stayed previously. Staff were not very helpful
Review 121:Close to Ben thanh markets
Review 122:There wasn't opportunity of early check-in.
Review 123:Room and service was nice, bed and pillows very comfortable. We really enjoyed a pool on the roof, despite the fact that it's small. All city sights are located close to the hotel and there is no need to take a taxi. Night view from panoramic hotel restaurant is adorable!
Review 124:There many many very similar hotels in District 1 that all more or less do what you want them to do. This one though has a few really nice extras that make your stay so much more enjoyable. The staff are great and extremely welcoming and helpful, I've been back here a few times and they always make me feel welcome. You can't fault the location either, right in the centre of town and walking distance to most of the District 1 sights. The rooftop pool is a bonus in the centre of the city. Great views and nice to escape the chaos of the street below. Also does a really good buffet breakfast in really nice breakfast room with incredible views of the city.
Review 125:The concierge could be friendlier
Review 126:Location easy walk to main attractions, market one block away, restaurants. Roof top pool , beds very comfortable and rooms clean. Great value for money
Review 127:Slow check in and staff iffy. No window to open and no bath.
Review 128:Close to the market. They prepared vegetarian food as requested at breakfast time. Restraunt staff friendly.
Review 129:Our room was on the 11th floor. Wifi only worked in the bathroom or on the 16th floor outside around the pool. I had a massage & tipped the guy equivalent of $5au . He told me it was not enough & I should give him $10 as he didn't get paid much
Review 130:Location, room
Review 131:Bar too expensive for what it was Pool is far smaller than expected but still nice Shower by pool flooded when used and not very nice, we had to use it as we checked out at 1pm and weren't leaving until 5pm. Breakfast average.
Review 132:Friendly staff Rooftop pool Concierge Location was great, perfect walking distance to many key sights Good shower All staff very efficient, friendly and accommodating. Big bed.
Review 133:I stayed here after traveling around Southern Vietnam for a week. Most of the other places I stayed were uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I found this hotel last minute and booked a room. The bed was so comfortable, the people friendly, and a delisious breakfast. I would stay here again in a heart beat!
Review 134:The man in the reception was very rude and him charge my debitcard when i check inn when normally i always pay when i check out. I have been there many times so i know. The lady that work in reception is very good, she try always help you not matter what. I musted stay to 4 pm in the hotel and she fixs that, i only pay a little extra.
Review 135:Very clean, central, good breakfast, good help in the reception.
Review 136:Small and crampy room, hardly room for two small suitcases. Room beautiful though and the shower a curious peace of technology.
Review 137:Location,very good breakfast, room and bathroom fine although small.nice an attentive staff.
Review 138:- Not enough lights in the restaurant at the toop of the building
Review 139:- Staff available and kind - We were very surprised and happy to receive 2 massage voucher and a nice birthday cake and fruits juice in our bedroom because it was the birthday of my girlfriend during our stay in this hotel > very nice!
Review 140:Shower is a novelty but not really practical. A normal shower would be much easier to use. If you struggle with steps, don't stay here, steep steps at the entrance with no handrail & the same again to get to the restaurant for breakfast.
Review 141:Great views from top floor. Staff generally very helpful.
