Reviews for Kilauea Hospitality Group
Review 1:Very old wooden house, very noisy, unsecure, bathroom and kitchen shared; very bad service; restricted check-in/-out times. Given that, too expensive.
Review 2:Close to the volcano park and at a jungle-style location.
Review 3:Not many facilities in Volcano - better to buy food before you get here Not well located for visiting the rest of the island The hot pool is not located on site and not mentioned when checking in (for Volcano Hale)
Review 4:Located close to Volcanoes National Park (5 min drive) Comfortable room Good kitchen and bathroom facilities
Review 5:Old motel, no hot water, no in room coffee, no breakfast, dirty bathtub, no a/c, poor tv reception. Receptionist said lots of remodeling would start next year. Should close for tourists until then, perhaps.
Review 6:Parking was free. Restaurant out front was good. And reasonable.
Review 7:The beds were a little small for two people. We are used to a king bed.
Review 8:Very clean and close to amenities and Kilauea Volcano. Very quiet with lovely gardens.
Review 9:The lodge with over hundreds years history located in the mountain with fresh air, but it's just difficult to find it in the evening.
Review 10:we arrived a bit late in the evening and the staff has return to home already. hard to find this lodge and the door was closed. The staff was very nice and she had driven to come to help with us. The lodge with over hundreds years history located in the mountain with fresh air, but it's just difficult to find it in the evening.
Review 11:Beautifully appointed rooms, large bed which was very comfortable. Quiet location in a very pretty rainforest garden. We wish we could have stayed much longer.
Review 12:Ask for the top floor or other rooms besides 303. It had a low roof and felt tight. Cozy and cute but other rooms had taller ceilings.
Review 13:Very very clean, tons of towels , extra pillows and blankets , kitchen, fireplace nice communal area . Clean bathrooms , great hassle free parking and close to restaurants and national park .
Review 14:Bed was a little hard compared to many of the better ones you routinely encounter anymore.
Review 15:Nice check in staffer, room and shared bath best and clean, due to shared facilities had nice interaction with others staying at hotel, like a B and B sorta.
Review 16:Nothing could be faulted
Review 17:Quiet rainforest location very close to the entrance to the volcanoes national park (by car - you need a car to get to see everything as the park is that big)
Review 18:No facilities around the location to get food or supplies however we were led to believe there were.
Review 19:I loved the location! The staff was delightful and the place was so quant and cozy.
Review 20:Mould in shower. Bed needs replacing, sagging and every time you moved you woke the other person. Terrible, uncomfortable sleep. Room below kitchen and stairs Nene room
Review 21:Location
Review 22:The noise from people walking around upstairs went on from 2:30 am to 6 am and it was very difficult to sleep because the noise was right over the bed. When I mentioned something upon checking out the person acted like they had no idea anyone upstairs could have been making noise. It was pretty disappointing.
Review 23:The location was great, it is very close to Volcano National Park and several nice cafes and restaurants. The room was very nice, it was private and had a little patio. It seemed very peaceful... until people started making a lot of noise walking around upstairs all through the night.
Review 24:Upstairs Toilet right above our heads when in bed . The low ceilings in the room gave us a very intimate experience with the person using the bathroom above us.
Review 25:Close to Volcano Nat Park
Review 26:Our only mistake was we booked it for 3 nights instead of one. If you want to check out as much as you can on the island, just stay there for 1 night so you can check out the Volcano National Park then move on.
Review 27:Very quaint place with lots of personality! We were in the Hale place where you had to share the bathroom & kitchen, but that was fine.
Review 28:The facility smelled bad, was dirty, had a very uncomfortable bed. There is only one bathroom per floor which means you could be sharing with three other rooms of guests. Certainly not 3 star accommodations.
Review 29:The location is convenient to Volcanos National Park.
Review 30:The horrible bed, very very uncomfortable (too soft), room was very small
Review 31:There was kitchen in first floor so we could prepare breakfast. Close to Vulcano NP - few minutes by car.
Review 32:No lights in the street or in the parking lot. Pitch dark. Wish they had breakfast available. My room was small. But I was not looking for a pricey hotel to stay either.
Review 33:Cheap. $69/night. Close to the Volcano National Park. Nice staff.
Review 34:We had the room next to the kitchen so we were woken up very early by fellow travellers talking and making breakfast. I'd say it isnt very soundproof, so light sleeperd be aware!
Review 35:We liked that it was close to the volcano park and it was clean and practical even though it was a shared bathroom.
Review 36:so every morning at around 6 am it sounded like a herd of elephants crashing down on us. We booked for the Kalauea Chalet but we were sent to the Volcano Hale House. The house was built in 1912 so no insulation hence the noise factor. The room was small and dark and overall quite gloomy.
Review 37:The bathrooms were clean and bath linen and toiletries were generous. The shared kitchen facilities were clean, efficient and appreciated with limited cafe opportunities.
Review 38:Our room was homey, clean and adequate but miniscule and filled with an overly high bed. There were not enough shelves, cupboards or drawers anywhere, The room opened onto the only table and chairs to be shared by 9, NINE! rooms with up to 18 people. The kitchen had all the tools but only one fridge and nowhere to store anything. There were 3 clean bathrooms which seemed alright but in the mornings with all the people there were some uncomfortable waits.
Review 39:Clean and well located, close to Volcanos National Park. We were fortunate the other residents were all pleasant, considerate people.
Review 40:The bed was a double and, though the mattress seemed as if it would be good it sloped to the middle. No really comfortable place to sit besides the kitchen table. There were some other chairs on the lower level but they, also, weren't a comfortable place to sit. Would be nice if they put some outside seating.
Review 41:Location, kitchen.
Review 42:Sharing bathrooms is just not my thing, the place we stayed in also had very acute acoustics, so even low voices travelled through the walls
Review 43:The setting of the place is lovely and it is close to dining and the Volcano park entrance. Spacious (shared) kitchen with cook top, 2 coffee makers and plenty dishes including wine glasses
Review 44:Volcano is a small town without limited choices for dining
Review 45:We stayed in the garden room which did not require you to go up any steps and came with its own parking spot separate entrance and covered patio and efficiency kitchen we were sorry we didn't stay longer. It was so peaceful
Review 46:It's moist and cold in the rainforest! The dehumidifier helps but is really noisy. This place is a bit far from the village center.
Review 47:Clean place, plenty of parking space. A good base to explore the national park.
Review 48:rooms are small requested early check in and my room was only ready at 3pm, they only started cleaning it at 2:45pm which means it was the last one on their list. should provide complimentary flashlights because the parking lot is pitch black. recommend bring your own flashlights (can use for volcano at night as well)
Review 49:kitchen equipped with everything (like a hostel) other guests quiet and respectful with shared space (we were on floor with kitchen) bathrooms clean and equipped with towels/toiletries
Review 50:Room was a joke. Size of a closet with a ceiling that was only 5 feet tsll. Room broke every code requirement possible. Would barely qualify for small attic space. It was never meant to be a guest room. Total joke. Will never stay there again and will blog our bad experience.
Review 51:Nice location. Nice kitchen.
Review 52:Breakfast time too short i.e 1.5 hours
Review 53:Great Location Breakfast available at a reasonable price Good amenities close by Very helpful staff Nice accomodation
Review 54:The continental breakfast was a bit overpriced.
Review 55:This place is beautiful! They have thought of every convenience, all the while keeping it elegant. The grounds and rooms are spotless. Each room has its own theme. Terrific!!!
Review 56:Staff not very helpful -- No help in carrying in luggage, for example.
Review 57:Hotel was set in a very pretty garden .
Review 58:The bed was so small for two people. Definitely spring for a king size if you can.
Review 59:This was a charming place to stay at.
Review 60:The bathroom smelled like piss and was a mess.
Review 61:Good proximity to Volcano National Park
Review 62:Great room, lots of space, loved the grounds
Review 63:They upgraded us so we had a great room, quiet and private
Review 64:Chalet very well equipped, good location, nice staff
Review 65:They were very adjustable about our requirements.
Review 66:Great stargazing. Good information about observatories. Interesting drive up and good lunch .
Review 67:Odd set up of room.
Review 68:Clean and tidy, nice staff
Review 69:Extremely clean, very comfortable. Lovely bathroom and kitchen. Good price for Hawaii!
Review 70:set in the middle of a rainforrest and very close to the national park, clean and comfortable.
Review 71:close to Volcanos National Park
Review 72:Limited no. Bathrooms. No laundry facilities
Review 73:Comfortable, homey
Review 74:Felt at home right away. Really quiet and good location to the Volcanoes National Park. Pretty easy parking space.
Review 75:No breakfast
Review 76:Location, use of hot tub, very quaint rooms, clean, and beautiful setting
Review 77:Convenient location, comfortable and clean. Staff were very accommodating.
Review 78:Room had no window (but a door) and smelled musty
Review 79:Walls were paper thin, hope for quiet neighbours!
Review 80:Very close to national park, rooms were nice and communal area well equipped.
Review 81:Front desk not open enough. Directions to local places inadequate.
Review 82:Room layout unique.
Review 83:The room was very small
Review 84:Simple and very clean for reasonable price
Review 85:Bed too soft, no tea or coffee in kitchen.
Review 86:Location, cost, peaceful, free tea and coffee at main house.
Review 87:Room is very tiny and ceiling is so low.
Review 88:Promixity to Volcano Park
Review 89:Skylight
Review 90:Unique furnishings. Privacy.
Review 91:Bed was uncomfortable. No chairs to sit in room. Noisy humidifier.
Review 92:Great papaya.
Review 93:The location is adequate for visiting the volcano, with good comfort.
Review 94:It is very close to the national park. Nice clean rooms
Review 95:Very few restaurants in area are open for dinner.
Review 96:Themed room decoration. Asian theme landscaping in cozy location. Free wifi.
Review 97:The room was a little warm but that was fixed by opening the windows
Review 98:It's a very secluded location. Very quiet and private. Beautiful grounds and surrounded by nature. Rooms were equipped with everything you may need, making our stay a perfect getaway. Each room included it's own individual theme. We stayed in the African room but there were many others to chose from. Also each room included it's own private lanai surrounded by trees and had a secluded feel even though there were neighbors on either side. Couldn't have chosen a better location. I'm satisfied and will be staying here in the future.
Review 99:Staff had very little if any aloha spirit and acted as if we were just a number. We were unaware that construction was going on in this rather small place right outside our room...three workers that also were not friendly...and junk everywhere on the grounds and steps up to our room due to this renovation. The front desk clerk didn't even mention this to us upon registering and it was dusty, noisy and probably somewhat dangerous (as steps to our room were littered with boards, tools, etc.). Bed pillows in the room were not comfortable and the "Africa" room was overstuffed to capacity with artifacts and unnecessary items that made moving in the room difficult let alone extra room for our belongings. If we had seen a review before coming to this location we would not have booked it...there were other options in Volcano. The construction part was the worst and it seemed like there should have been some reduction on the rate for this type of lack of quiet and comfort. Thanks for asking for our opinion ... very professional on your part. So sorry it was not a positive experience and very disappointing for the rate paid and our first visit to that area.
Review 100:I liked the idea that this was a woodsy area and should have been way more peaceful based on the ad that motivated us to stay here.
Review 101:rooms are not well isolated so you can hear everything the neighbours say and do
Review 102:the hotel is very quaint the rooms were clean and spacious it is very close to vulcano and the national park, but still completely immersed in nature
Review 103:Not a thing, but if someone is looking for luxurious accommodations this may not be the place for them.
Review 104:We stayed in the Garden Room and liked the cozy, quaint cottage feel of the unit. The common room was very interesting to explore with the many pieces of art the owners have collected from all over the Pacific Rim.
Review 105:This was my third stay and first since it was sold. The facility needs some work and updating. The offered breakfast was unacceptable.
Review 106:Convienent to volcano park
Review 107:The bed frame hit your knees every time you walked past it, if youweren't careful.
Review 108:Comfortable andi nteresting room, as well as the personal deck withcooking amenities. A wonderful bathroom.
