Reviews for Whale View Manor Guesthouse

Review 1:The guest house is not very close to any restaurants and when we were visiting they weren't serving dinner so obtaining food was a challenge.

Review 2:The guest house itself is beautiful and only a 30 minute drive from the Cape of Good Hope (so you can beat the tourist rush from Cape Town). The view of False Bay is stunning. The breakfast and honesty bar were tasteful touches.

Review 3:Wonderful sea views from the hotel, the hotel itself is remarkable in the attention to every detail, the decoration and design is fantastic, the hotel is very personal and the owner and staff very friendly. One of the best hotel breakfasts ever. Had we known how good this hotel was we would at least have stayed one more night.

Review 4:The access is on a very inclined ramp. You'd better be a good driver!

Review 5:The house looks pretty amazing The room was special with a nice view to the ocean. Sadly, the weather was not good so we didn't benefit from using the balcony or enjoying the view. The breakfast was good but not amazing and it took a long time to come. The staff serving the breakfast were genuinely very nice. We didn't like the manager or person in charge that day-she was just making very polite conversation for the sake of it. I feel we spent too much money for what we got.

Review 6:Nothing

Review 7:Nice place for hope gace and Capetown visit. Nice beach Nice romantic breakfast Free parking Rooms are really smart. Don t want to leave the hotel

Review 8:The ambience of the guest house was wonderful, the attention to detail made our stay special. The staff were extremely good in every way. I really could not fault anything about our stay. The rooms, the comfort, friendliness, beautiful location opposite a beach, everything was excellent

Review 9:No bad experiences, though the bathroom, while apparently recently remodeled, could use a little better lighting and an extra towel bar closer to the shower to make it a bit more user friendly.

Review 10:We loved the view and listening to the waves as we slept. We loved going out for a morning run along the bay. The staff were all friendly and helpful and it was great to have Dominque offering ideas and checking in each morning to see how our previous day was. Breakfast was delicious and served in a lovely room with a beautiful view. The only reason I rated the location as good rather than excellent is that some people may find it a bit far from Cape Town. We chose this location on purpose though and thought Simon's Town was a charming village with some interesting shops and good restaurants. It was an easy and scenic drive to the wine regions and very close to Cape Point. Parking can be a bit tricky but I do recommend having a car. There's a beach right across the street, but not much else is walking distance.

Review 11:the fact that no dinner was available should we want it - the information said we needed to book and upon booking were told not tonight. The WiFi definitely needs improvement

Review 12:Breakfast on the Varanda in the morning sunshine. the staff made sure we got to see the dolphins and whales swimming by and the spa was lovely

Review 13:Water pressure is a bit low and the shower head is not too great. Lack of power points by the beds. Steps might be a bit much for the frail but not an issue for us. Overall the negatives were far outweighed by the positives.

Review 14:Amazing views from the sea facing bedrooms. Beautiful boutique hotel with very tasteful decor and service. Great courtyard and verandahs for summertime. An incredible breakfast personally prepared each morning with the owner spending time with each guest. There is a fantastic beach opposite. We wished we had stayed longer. The breaching humpbacks meant the manor lived up to its name.

Review 15:One staff member did not understand that one of our party has a serious allergy and did not seek assistance from management. However when this as raised it was satisfactorily dealt with.

Review 16:Everything! Wonderful welcome, lovely decor, sparkling clean room and bathroom. Lovely little touches - turndown, marshmallows. Dominique and staff so attentive. Just an overall great experience.

Review 17:Shared fridge and drink making facilities in corridor and not in room. Little choice at breakfast.

Review 18:Location as bedroom overlooked beautiful beach. Decor & furnishings which were very tasteful and elegant. Presentation of food at breakfast. Very tasty 3-course evening meal.

Review 19:Petro made us feel extremely welcome, was generous, flexible and friendly at all times. The room was very pleasing beautiful decor, adequate space, large ensuite, fabulous view of False bay. Whilst no dinner options were available (due to few guests at this off-season time) the breakfasts were great. All staff were engaging, helpful and very friendly.

Review 20:A bit difficult to find - it was not listed accurately on GPS and the person who gave directions on the phone was very unclear. It is actually south of Simon's Town and Boulders Beach. There are no restaurants in the immediate area, so one must drive back to Simon's Town for dinner.

Review 21:Beautiful view of the water and a nearby beach! The interior of the house is lovely and my balcony with an ocean view was just right.

Review 22:There is a small beach right opposite the bed and breakfast. It is situated out of town so it was lovely and quiet. There was just a road between us and the sea - no traffic at night. Great breakfast.

Review 23:The parking could be tricky but not a real problem

Review 24:The whole place was great and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room and public spaces were excellent. The view was captivating and the access to the beach and the penguins could not have been better.

Review 25:Having to leave

Review 26:All the staff we're very happy and helpful. The owner Dominique and her sister in law Joan couldn't have been more helpful and helped us plan the rest of our trip.

Review 27:No open restaurant in evenings or at lunch is a bit strange on a guesthouse at this location. Not even when we asked the day before if it could be arranged. "It's not payed for in the booking" ? If you charge over 1500 ZAR night I would expect the restaurant to be open and the service to match the promises.

Review 28:Nice guesthouse with great interior design and view from the room. Very quiet and relaxing area. Breakfast was fabulous! We liked it a lot.

Review 29:Not that many whales in spite of the name of the place but ultimately a whale or two passed by in the distance.

Review 30:Welcoming place overlooking the sea. Great staff full of smiles. Clean and tidy inside. Delicious breakfast.

Review 31:exceptional service, attention to detail, friendliness of all staff and manager, beautiful views, quiet location yet close to town, very welcoming and we felt right at home.

Review 57:proximity to the beach transfers provided to town (very small charge) wonderful made-to-order breakfast beautiful beach view and sounds of the oceans at night quiet

Review 58:No wi-fi / internet coverage in rooms. Parking bays awkward & no turn-around. Steep entrance steps.
