Review 1：Front desk individual was unprofessional. Yes, we were 22 years old friends who wanted a room, but he did not have to reiterate NO PARTIES, NO EXTRA BODIES, NO THIS AND THAT! We only needed a room to stay in, the rest of the partying will be downtown! Communication & Trust with guests should be a priority .
Review 2：Room dis not have basic amenities like microwave and coffee maker. And one of the room in the suite did not have a heater.

Review 4：We could hear the people in the next room. The first night we didn't have any hot water at the sink. We called the next morning and it was immediately taken care of. No big deal my husband had to shave in the bath tub. LOL

Review 6：The oner, was an old grumpy man. When we took breakfast to our room, he was there looking what you thak and the general wibe is that he is so chip. I felt so uncomfortable, I didn't want to eat or drink anything after that.

Not a big space for guests. The beds and pillows were extremely uncomfortable. My back killed me the next day!! The bathroom was very small. The mini fridge was not plugged in therefore we had to wait awhile for cooling. There was not much shampoo or lotion. Only one bottle for 4 guests. The fan in my room did not work. Not enough towels. For what the room was I believe it to be over priced. I will not be bringing my family back there at all. Just seemed to be more about what they can save.

Room was not very clean , and had too much furniture (a table and a desk - completely unnecessary) Paid $279+tax, for a room that the following week was $ 70+tax (it was Monterey car week... We couldn't care less about it, but needed a hotel in Monterey for one night)

Review 83：They don't even put fitted sheets on the bed just a flat one tucked around the edge. And there were holes in the sheets all over. bathroom door was hanging off the wall. Hinge was coming off the frame. And they had a sign about saving water so if you hang up your towels meaning you'd reuse them and if they were on the floor they'd take them and give new ones. We hung them up to reuse and they took them anyways. Kind of wasteful.

Review 85：When told the fridge was not working the owner told us that it needed time to get cold as it had just been switched on one hour later it was still warm and I told him that it definitely was not working he messed about and told me he had fixed it, twenty minutes later I called him again and this time he agreed that it was not working he then offered us another room but even though he denied it this was a smoking room and we don't smoke so eventually after two hours he changed the fridge with one from another room but was very unhappy about it. Breakfast was on offer in reception with very little choice cereal and cake juice and tea /coffee all the time we were using this he watched making you feel that he was worried you may take too much. overall management was BAD

Review 87：When we walked into the room, we loved what we 'saw'. Room tidy and welcoming. We stayed in room #4. We immediately noticed a distinct smell that was unfavorable. We smelled it from both bedspreads, as if previous 'unwashed' guests slept in the beds, on top of the bedspreads. The sheets were clean and fresh smelling, and the beds were very comfortable. But bedspreads really needed to be washed. Perhaps they do not get washed as often. But the whole time while in the room, the smell was always coming from the bedspreads. Also, the toilet, and bathroom were very clean, but the toilet 'rocked' and moved when sat on. Just needs adjustment.

Review 89：My 16 year old daughter had a separate room that they could not accommodate next to ours. There were some guests who seemed to be living at the hotel on a longer term basis sitting outside their rooms smoking and such that made me a bit more cautious for my daughters sake.

Review 96：It was a great location, close to everything, few minutes drive to Carmel and Monterey, staff was great they accommodated my request for re-booking for another day and some hot water for our cup noodles since we checked in late from our trip from Big Sur, and she even suggested not to miss the great places to see at Carmel,our room couldn't get any better for a family traveling with older teenagers , it was clean and decent, we were able to watch the 1st game of NBA from 2 different TV set , we would definitely come back and book the same room.
Review 97：The manager of this establishment was grumpy and irritated from the get-go. They had a sign on the door saying rooms full, but saw many open rooms. Based on the sign, I don't think he was expecting anyone to show up, but I had a reservation. He was bothered, with a deep breath and a sigh everytime I asked him a question..... Breakfast arrangements? Wifi password?

Review 99：Shower head leaked...all over the bathroom. We reserved room A every time someone went into the restroom or out the front door the extra room door would open, none of the locks worked. No A/C in second room. Parking was horrible in order to get out you have to back up all the way out no way to turn around!

Review 101：My brother had his service dog and although there was some miscommunication upon checking in the staff was not very friendly about it. My brother gets embarrassed about his disability and denies it sometimes and the manager asking about 20 times if she was a real service dog didn't help. We gave her registration number but he wanted to see a vest. My brother just wants people to think she's a normal dog because he doesn't like people to know. It ruined the rest of the day. Also at check in the stress nonsmoking (which is perfect for us) and there were cigarette butt and ash trays everywhere and it smelled like stale cigarettes. The bathtub was dirty when we got there with hairs everywhere and the fan didn't work.

Review 113：The reservation was made and confirmed at 9:30pm at $33.48 for one night. When I mentioned that to the guy at the reception desk, he said he was just able to raise the price to $100 and that he would give us the room for $59.99. I read him my confirmation stating that the only amount I will pay is $33.48. So we decided to walk out. While we were in the car looking for alternative, he said he will give us that price. So we did the paper work and he wanted cash. I said I don't have cash. And he accepted the credit card.

Review 115：The staff are more than friendly. I locked my keys in the car and owner used his own AAA card to help me out. There is an effort to make the property inviting with flowers blooming in every inch of free space. The room was clean and adequate the bed was comfortable. Everything was in good repair and worked properly. There were no surprises. For that part of California the price was very reasonable.
Review 116：The man at the front desk (might be the owner) was extremely rude. He walks down the rooms staring at people with a mean face and we had lost our room key and when I went to ask for another he gave us dirty looks and scolded us for losing the first key. Would not stay here again because he was so rude!

It was very close to the track, there was a wonderful restaurant right next door - The Breakfast Club, and gas stations right down the street. On the way to the track there is a Safeway store which was perfect for picking up water and food for the day.

Review 122：The only down falls to the Discovery Inn were the 'continental breakfast' and not having a microwave in the rooms. When looking for somewhere, one of our deals was that it had to offer a Continental breakfast, which this place does offer it.. to a degree. All that is offered is cereal and coffee in the very small and crammed lobby. If you are already planning on eating out for breakfast then this will not be a problem. When visiting somewhere, eating out for dinner is a must and not having a microwave to eat up any left overs was very disappointing. Over all we had a very pleasant expierence and would recommend to friends and even stay here again.

When looking for a place to stay on our 5 day trip to monterey, we were looking for somewhere that was close to everything and had a good deal on the price. Once we arrived, we were actually very pleased with our choice. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean upon arrival and every evening when we arrived back. The bed was extremly comfortable and the showers very clean. The convenience of the location was incomparable. It was close to everything, yet not right in the heart of monterey's tourist attractions. We truly appreciated all the little things this place offered.
