Reviews for Pousada Pardieiro

Review 1:The room was one of the worst I have ever stayed in. Chipped paint, electrical wires hanging everywhere and moldy bathroom. Pillows on the bed were lumpy and window didn't close properly. Anyone could have come in. It was also very noisy but that was because of the location (not really hotel fault). We moved hotels the next day and for about $25 more per night ended up in a very nice 4 star hotel on the beach with a pool.

Review 2:The view

Review 3:The owner provides a personal touch, walking around greeting and talking to guests. Lovely atmosphere. In the historic city center, but away from noise.

Review 4:The only drawback to the place is that there is an area of " mangue" nearby which can give a rather unoleasant smell ( stagnant water). Some of the rooms are more affected than others; happily mosquito nets are in place at the windows but take plenty of mosquito repellent for elsewhere; this is, of course, true for most places in Brazil!

Review 5:I have stayed at Pousada Pardieiro a few times now; I really enjoy the gardens there, the various public rooms which have a mixture of books and other artefacts ( some remembering Paulo Autran, the well known and highly respected actor who bought the place with his partner some years ago) and the general layout of the place. The bedrooms are rustic but very comfortable and spacious, with good quality bedding. Bathrooms are well appointed and have very good towels, etc. Staff are profesional and courteous and the overall ambient is very calming.

Review 6:Apparently the town is one of the most humid in the country - however believe this pousada is particularly suffering from this issue. some rooms more than others strongly smell of damp / not very pleasant. Would be understandable if price was lower but we paid similar amount in other cities for much higher quality.

Review 7:Well placed. Nice grounds from the outside, garden, etc. typical . Staff very nice and willing to help.

Review 8:Paraty is a charming yet very touristy town, and this pousada is in an ideal location: hidden behind a wall in a quiet street on the edge of the historical centre. Like a dream motel, the rooms are like small houses in a luscious garden, with half-open common “lounges” around the swimming pool. Quite lovely.

Review 9:The breakfast could offer more options and we found a cockroach in the bathroom one night.

Review 10:The location is perfect, 2 minutes walk to the historic centre. The place is very quiet and the staff amazingly friendly and helpful.

Review 11:Be careful with the laundry, other than in the Pousadas we stayed in elsewhere they charge by the piece rather than the kg.

Review 12:Very nice and authentic stay in Paraty. The owner bought several houses of an old, colonial block within the historic centre and combined the houses to a very special hotel. We enjoyed every minute and would love to come back!

Review 13:No bad experiences in the hotel

Review 14:Everything in this place was amazing... Very picturesque like in the movies. Relaxing and peaceful away from the big crowds but outside 1min away is the town centre. The town centre is beautiful, the energy and video is amazing. I love this hotel so will you

Review 15:The only small issue was the wi-fi which did not work in the room - had to go to reception to get a good connection. There was a router near our room, but still did not work inside the room.

Review 16:Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff, beautiful facilities, great breakfast. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Paraty.

Review 17:Nothing

Review 18:Gardens, pool, variety of elegantly styled seating areas with books, cushions and hammocks. Great location for historical centre in Paraty in easy reach of sea, restaurants and bus station.

Review 19:This Pousada is just beautiful and cosy! The personnel is really nice and helps a lot when you ask anything! The swimming pool surrounded by the luxurious vegetation is the plus that makes this Pousada charming relaxing and simply beautiful Highly recommended for lovers

Review 20:The water is way too warm. I heard that it may be the case in all the pousadas around here since the weather is so hot. The swimming pool is bathtub temperature. In our shower, we had to choose between hot water and hotter water – funny since the sink had only cold water.

Review 21:• Great choice! The location is perfect. It is in colonial Paraty but at the end of a quiet street. It is a short walk to the pier where everyone goes to get a boat which is the thing to do in Paraty. The grounds are stunning! The plants and the walkways are beautiful. There are a number of public rooms around the pool and restaurant that are delightfully decorated - that coming from me as an interior design counts. The breakfast was simple but delicious. The room has good air con and the furniture seems to be right from the good ole’ days. Wonderful stay. We had a lovely chat with the proprietor Arnold (I think). He speaks Portuguese, English, Spanish and French. Very interesting.

Review 22:Spacious tropical gardens, large traditional rooms and several open-fronted comfortable lounges. All 2 mins walk from port and excellent restaurants

Review 23:It was a bit difficult to walk the six blocks from the bus station over the stone-paved streets and the entry to the hotel was difficult to find. The hotel staff could be better prepared to give tourist advice and recommendations.

Review 24:We liked the gardens and the pool and the ample public spaces.

Review 25:The Pousada is very well taken care of and it preservers the historical charm that makes Paraty unique. The place is beautifully decorated with Brazilian furniture, collectibles and arts and crafts, and it offers many peaceful niches to read a Brazilian art book, relax on a hammock or at the pool or stroll through the beautiful garden. It's well located inside the historical center but very quite, which is a plus. My husband and I had a wonderful stay!

Review 26:It will not be possible for us to go back to that place because of the smell of the room, the pillows were really old and, sorry to say ,stinks awfully. Furthermore a 10 % tax added at the end is never a good option.

Review 27:The garden, the people and the style, so nice

Review 28:Be careful with the address and don't trust your GPS, it's been said many times but it is so true! It's a global issue with Paraty not just this pousada. It's south of the old center not by the river.

Review 29:Nice and gentle people, very well located, nice accommodation, private parking.

Review 30:is there anything in this well organized and well run establishment? we never found it in all these years!

Review 31:for more than 18 years we know the PADIERO and love the quiet, sophisticated surrounding with the gorgeous gardens and wonderful Artwork. And the breakfast is fabulous.

Review 32:The only complaint would be that they had two separate beds instead of a double-bed in our room. The streets in the centre are a bit difficult to walk on with all the cobblestones, especially when you have luggage. However, the pousada offers to pick you up from the bus station and take care of your luggage, just arrange for it in advance.

Review 33:Great location, paired with excellent service! It is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the town - the historic centre is a mere footsteps away, to explore the nice local art shops and restaurants. Even if the weather is rainy, the pousada offers a lot of neatly decorated rooms to hang out. The whole property including the garden is very well maintained, the rooms are simple, but have all you need. The breakfast is amazing, especially the fresh mango. We had a few special requests, which were all met by the friendly and helpful staff. I would definitely come back to this pousada

Review 34:Internet wasn't working , very poor signal. Apparently it was a major problem with the server and some wires. Hope they can fix it soon.

Review 35:Everything!

Review 36:The ONLY gripe I had was that the BOOKING.COM map had it in the totally wrong place, so we had trouble finding it, though the local people helped us. Also the roads in the historic part of town had changed, so the address did not match the current road name.

Review 37:The service from the many staff was excellent. They were helpful and friendly. The pousada was spacious, with many communal rooms and spaces, some with hammocks, some with TVs, but all with lovely furniture and cushions. They were very comfortable and attractive. All the bedrooms were also fitted out with antique furniture, though the bathrooms were modern and well equipped. There were also garden spaces full of exotic plants, palms and orchids. The continental breakfast was really good with plenty of fresh fruit, breads & cheese/ham and cake, served with a selection of fresh coffee and/or freshly squeezed orange juice. Whenever an item was running out they would top it up. The location was ideal, on the edge of the historic part of town, bordering the main part - close to everything. This place is a wonderful find and would happy recommend it to anyone.

Review 38:Nothing really.

Review 39:Beautiful small pousada with nice little pool and breakfast area serving a simple but tatsty breakfast. Rooms are stylishly done maintaining the charm of the old school pousada. Centrally located on the edge of the old town of Paraty. Very nice and helpful staff!

Review 40:Although they have 10 accesspoints, the internet did not work at all.

Review 41:It's a 7 min walk from the bus station. Don't take a taxi, they charge you a lot because of the bad road. The poussada is well located in the historic centre. Breakfast is served, if you like in the pool area.

Review 42:Excellent location in the historic city center. Bed and overall room size were both larger than we experienced at other properties in Brazil. Lovely pool and friendly owner.

Review 43:Food and drink choices are very limited. Staff were very friendly but very limited English if you don't speak Portuguese.

Review 44:The garden and pool area are very nice. I relaxed at the pool and watched the Hummingbirds feed. Rooms are basic but very clean and decor is consistent with the old colonial setting. Bring stout shoes as the cobblestone streets are rough on the feet.

Review 45:Everything works perfectly. every detail is taken into account.

Review 46:bad wifi

Review 47:location and service

Review 48:We were out of season and the Pousada was very quiet, especially mid week.

Review 49:Location location location

Review 50:Situated in the old part of town but away from the crowds, a perfect space to relax and enjoy the area

Review 51:Everything, the whole experience of our stay.

Review 52:The room and bathroom décor.

Review 53:The gardens, the pool and the common areas.

Review 54:bed could have been more comfortable

Review 55:Lovely gardens, good pool and welcoming host

Review 56:No phone in the room. If you want to call for any repair or service you have to go to the front desk.

Review 57:Location Decoration Gardens Breakfast

Review 58:Excellent location in center of Paraty. Very nice tropical garden.

Review 59:There could have been a TV ;-)

Review 60:Great place and location (in Parati as well as itself - garden setup), nice breakfast

Review 61:pool was a little chilly. Rooms were a little dark.

Review 62:Great for relaxing. Good service. Great location at the end of the main road

Review 63:Rooms were a little dated but comfortable. Hard to find.

Review 64:Cute room with tropical gardens. Amazing lounge area pool with monkeys -- very cool.

Review 65:Leaving

Review 66:Location, gardens, pool, decorations, people - plus there are hummingbirds and marmosets in the garden !!

Review 67:Loved the location, beautiful grounds and colonial feel. Wish we could have stated longer!

Review 68:The booking.com 'address' for this accommodation is a complete joke! Please print a detailed map before attempting to locate otherwise you'll spend a lot of wasted time trying to find this accommodation, we nearly gave up and went somewhere else as locals had no clue as to the where this accommodation was. The accommodation is NOT on Rua Tenente Francisco Antonio 74 as stated on the website. Its on Rua do Comercio (right at the end of). Both the address and location map provided by booking.com are WRONG.

Review 69:This is a fantastic calm Pousada with great rooms and stunning traditional furniture throughout, the pool area is tranquil and would recommend this Pousada to anyone wishing to visit Paraty. So so relaxing with great choice of bars and restaurants on your door step.

Review 70:The hotel location/address was not the same as in the GPS and was unknown to everybody. We struggled and wandered from more than an hour before finding it ! Signalisation and correct address is definitely to be implemented !

Review 71:The people were really helpful and the room really nice, and I loved that they did not rush in to have me checking out. Great stay

Review 72:I notice other travellers comment on the approach road to the pousada and it certainly isn't inviting. But just look at those crabs scuttling around the road and remind yourself where it is located..... and go inside!

Review 73:I have stayed at this hotel a few times before and it is clear that they invest in improving the property as well as offering an excellent, international-standard service yet without pretentiousness. I love the very nicely kept garden and the decor, mixing Brazilian art with typical handicraft and unusual pieces with great aplomb. I found the staff really friendly and helpful, going well beyond the norm. There is a deeply personal touch here, with memorabilia of the very well known Brazilian actor Paulo Autran, whom I understand co-owned the pousada, tucked around the place. And finally, things work: bathrooms function as they should, a/c works, beds are firm and have decent bed linen; as a seasoned traveller around Brazil this, sadly, is not always the case even at this far-from-budget end of the market.

Review 74:too many vegetation in the pousada. It lacks of natural light. It would give far more space if less trees ans so. Room is pretty humid. Should give better indication to reach by car (with GPS) since the street has 2 names ...

Review 75:location, very peaceful Breakfast is very good with fresh fruit, fresh juices, eggs ... the swimming pool is great with reading areas

Review 76:The staff were very unfriendly and did not smile. We didn't even get a 'goodbye' when we were paying on checkout. Plus the room only had air con and no fan, which we much prefer.

Review 77:The swimming pool & surrounding area.

Review 78:Staying only three nights

Review 79:The tranquility of the place though it was in the historic centre. The lush foliage, the maze~like layout : getting lost meant the discovery of a new cosy corner for relaxation.

Review 80:Owner somewhat aloof and not very engaging addressing any issue you may have. However, he runs a tight ship.

Review 81:Very pleasant atmosphere, great location & staff was very attentive.

Review 82:Attitude of the Breakfast/Bar staff The room Ran out of tea!!! Too basic for the price Sand crabs coming in under the door (had to put towels to stop them)

Review 83:The Gardens The pool

Review 84:The only minor problem was the wifi was quite sporadic, had I not needed to send any emails this place would've been perfect but it's a teeny complaint when everything else was so nice.

Review 85:Beautiful rooms, stunning gardens and pool area. We loved this place. Great breakfast and friendly helpful staff.

Review 86:The staff were all polite and efficient, but could be a bit more smiley and friendly.

Review 87:The Pousada Pardieiro is in a great location within the old town of Paraty. The gardens of the Pousada are a hidden oasis. The pool area is lovely, with lots of comfy areas to relax and hammocks to lie in. The room was clean and a comfortable firm bed ensured a good night's sleep.

Review 88:Very small, uncomfortable bed. Noisy, argumentative fellow guests who kep us awake till 3am. Somewhat smelly at low tide.

Review 89:Helpful staff; charming layout.

Review 90:The Standard room double bed are horrible. It's very small and you can barely sleep 2 people. We changed to a superior room in the 2nd night onwards.

Review 91:The breakfast, the pool, the location and the hotel itself is very nice decorated and is very charming. I will definitely book again in my next time in Paraty

Review 92:Loved it all.

Review 93:Absolutely lovely Pousada. delightful setting, nice pool, lovely gardens. Very helpful and friendly staff - some English speaking. Lots of comfortable sitting space in the gardens in delightfully decorated open lounges or by the pool.

Review 94:The wifi connection was poor, thou that was the case in the whole town, at the pousada Pardieiro was significantly slower than restaurants and cultural spaces I was able to log in. Food options were simple but great... as the town offers many options.

Review 95:The Staff was really friendly, absolute clean and organized, well located in the historic center but away from the buzz, very relaxing and well kept facilities. Really charming.

Review 96:There is nothing I did not like about the Pousada Pardieoro.

Review 97:I stayed at the Pousada Pardieiro 12 years ago, and it has not changed. It has kept up its high standards

Review 98:I find that in the winter here in Brazil the rooms are a bit damp as there is no heating. Walking around Parati is not good for anyone not very secure on their feet due to the fact that the roads are made out of large boulders.

Review 99:Our pousada (or guest house) was beautiful. At first we were a bit worried as the cab dropped us off down this dark street that looked a bit scary -- but then when we open the door to the pousada it was an amazing oasis of lush vegetation, orchids, squirrel monkeys and humming birds. It was almost like a small village with lots of buildings for breakfast, TV rooms, pool and sitting areas. The owners had a wonderful collection of paintings, sculptures and lots of folk art.

Review 100:The fridge in the room is incredibly loud.

Review 101:The tropical garden is wonderful, so relaxing, ans the breakfast was fantastic. The staff was very helpful and friendly!!

Review 102:Nothing!

Review 103:We loved the charming, quiet atmosphere and the great location in the historic part of Paraty. The breakfast was very good both mornings we ate there. The staff was helpful in recommending local sites and restaurants.

Review 104:Quite difficult to find as the street had two names, and we didn't have to current one Rua do Comercio.

Review 105:This was a superlative pousada in every way, gardens and pool, location, very friendly staff.

Review 106:Nothing.

Review 107:We had a lovely stay in this pousada. The owner speaks very good Frenchand proved very friendly. The place is just beautiful with smallbungalows, plants and a very nice relaxing area with a swimming pool, areading place and where you have breakfast. Breakfast is quite good andwith a lovely view on the garden. Location is just perfect, inside thehistoric center of Paraty while very close to the outside streets henceyou can come with your car very close to the hotel. They even haveparking facilities.

Review 108:The setting was beautiful, individual cottages set amoungst tropicalgarden. Great pool with lots of lounges, towels supplied. Breakfastincluded. Many wonderful areas to read a book or meet with friends toshare a glass of wine at the end of the day. Voted as one of the bestfor 5 weeks travelling in Brazil with 2 other couples.

Review 109:We were lucky to have good weather.Very rainy during summer.Churches were closed and Santa Rita under renovation.

Review 110:Pousada is inside ancient city.Fabulous experience in making private round trip in the bay.Owner of Pousada Pardieiro is an exceptional person very interesting and helpful. When you go to Paraty be very well informed where you are going to.Sometimes it seems a trip in your imagination!Very Good restaurants, beautiful shops,It is BRAZIL VENICE.

Review 111:overpriced food, beds were uncomfortable and very old. But they told to replace them winter 2014

Review 112:best location, in a side-street in centro historico, the hotel is wonderful as well as the staff was excellent and so helpful, they even spoke german, good breakfast in comparision with other pousadas, wonderful pool and vegetation, great atmosphere

Review 113:The rooms are a bit spartan.

Review 114:The common areas are beautiful, lots of art everywhere, very tastefully done. Beautiful gardens. Breakfasts are great, dining area close to the pool. Possibility to have lunch and dinner too.

Review 115:there are no tv sets and telepnones in the rooms; no paperbasket inthe rooms; only one key by room, even if there are two people; no air conditioning at the tv lounges

Review 116:location, clean, tranquility, service, the swiming pool, free wireless
