Reviews for Bryce Gateway Inn

Review 1:Be careful - the motel is out of the city, can be difficult to find

Review 2:When we came to the motel there were a sign that they are closed, all the guests are redirected to Quality Inn motel which is in 2 minutes by car. This motel is wonderful, we were charged our booking price.

Review 3:Arrived at Harold's. Greeted by sign informing that Place was closed for repair of broken pipe. Referred to nearby Quality Inn where they accepted payment and issued a receipt for Harold's Place. Hmmm!

Review 4:Nothing around the place (restaurants, etc). Not too much a problem since the nearest town is 15 min by car.

Review 5:Close to Bryce Canyon, and good value for money.

Review 6:Stayed in one of the Cabins & it was not level. Your head was "downhill" in bed. When you walked into shower room it felt like you were going to run down a hill. Toilet seat was loose & moved around. Small tube type TV - not flat screen. Lamp had no outlet for plug in Shower door would not close which wet floor when showering. Shower head leaked bad.

Review 7:We stayed here because Harold's advertised a restaurant on site. When we got there the restaurant wasn't open, and looked liked it hadn't been open for a while. We were told that the restaurant was owned by a separate entity. We had to drive 6-7 miles to get to a restaurant which made things inconvenient for us.

Review 8:The cabins were nice and clean. Close to Bryce Canyon. Check-in clerk was friendly.

Review 9:Water smelled like clay.

Review 10:Positively surprised by neatness of cottage we rented. Liked the wooden smell in the room. Location is great if you travel from Bryce canyon to Zion national park.

Review 11:room looks dark due to the color and light

Review 12:the facility is not that fancy but a nice choise close to bryce canyon. the guys there, i believe the owner were very pleasant and warm. my father set the fire alarm by accident and they showed up soon and fixed it without any attitude shown and comforted him. and later after check out my friend found that she forgot a travel pack with her id and mony in it. we called from SLC and they already found it and kept it safe for us. even thou we could only find usps to send it to SF, which took a loooong time, they have helped and made sure it worked. Many thanks again Harold!

Review 13:pretty far form bryce if youre pressed on time . rusty water streaks in toilet

Review 14:big king bed . soft carpet . Blast from the past feel of the decor . ( may be a bad thing for others . i.e . old tube television.) Value of hotels there are all inflated . THIs is the cheapest i found given late search for hotels

Review 15:Lack of refrigerator or microwave offset most other features including price. Owners intent to have travelers step next door to dine was obvious. No thanks.

Review 16:Rooms tidy and close to Bryce Canyon.

Review 17:I think that it may be time to replace the pillows on the beds. The pillows were flat and limp and not very comfortable.

Review 18:Staff was friendly, the cabin was clean and nicely decorated. Great water pressure in the shower.

Review 19:The bathroom had several issues: you barely get wet in the shower, the water switched from hot to cold without touching it. The fan did not work!

Review 20:I like non smoking hotels. Even though the furniture is old and the chairs a little rickety ...the bed was comfortable...the hotel appeared to be clean

Review 21:It was advertised as a cottage that it was advertised as a cottage that could accommodate four people. When we got there there were only two double beds. Had to get a rollaway bed that springs were broken on so had to sleep with 4" mattress on the floor. It was very difficult to maneuver in and out of the driveway as well.

Review 22:Location

Review 23:Very comfortable, well equipped cabins. Breakfast not included but small restaurant on property provides small menu of well prepared food by a couple of friendly guys.

Review 24:The coffee pot was not in the room. Asked and I got one. The electric plugs did not seem to work right. Tried the coffee pot that eve. Worked so made coffee for next morning and had to replug it in. All lamps were unplugged?? Hair dryer did not work. I could not figure out why all lamps were unplugged....

Review 25:It was close to the park.

Review 26:Check in was quick and easy. Staff was attentive and friendly. I also liked how quiet it was. Something I always remember about a place that is important to me is the water pressure for the shower. Theirs was exultant! Never did get to meet Harold LOL.

Review 27:The breakfast at the Harold's Inn restaurant is a total rip-off - 11 $ for a spoon full of scrambled eggs and two small slices of bacon! Check for alternative restaurants in Panguitch, 7 miles away.

Review 28:Hotel without breakfast: The hotel has a restaurant and advertises inside the hotel rooms for the excellent "dinner" you can get there. However the restaurant is closed in the evening. We wanted to take breakfast there, but on entering were welcomed by one of the staff who was so incredible dirtily dressed, that we weren't hungry any more. They don't accept credit cards, so you would have to go 7 miles to Panguitch to get cash. Outside the hotel and restaurant there's trash everywhere which seems to be in its time have been a Christmas decoration.

Review 29:The only really positive point is the location directly on the highway.

Review 30:The bed was hard. And the hallway smelled funny. (Probably the long term guests cooking food.) The breakfast was okay not much to choose from. But they were nice and they were playing Tool and Led Zeppelin. So that's a plus.

Review 31:The man who checked us in was very nice.

Review 32:The shower is the phone-booth style, which I'm never a fan of. It was unclear as to where you check in since the cabins are at the other end of the property. It's not clear that you would check in at Harold's Motel. Once we found it, all was good.

Review 33:We stayed in one of the cabins. Rustic and cozy. It's about the size of your average hotel room. The cabins are quiet but the beds weren't anything to write home about. The location is good for Bryce Canyon. It's a good value for the money. After being in 5 different hotel rooms in 5 days on our road trip, I definitely believe that you get what you pay for.

Review 34:No breakfast. Not much choice for dinner. Staff seemed overwhelmed with only 3 people coming in. WiFi iffy.

Review 35:It was near Kodachrome Basin and Bryce Canyon without being in the parks with all the hype. Nice little cabin.

Review 36:It was disappointing that advertised on-site restaurant was no longer operating since the motel changed hands. The Wifi did not work the first night we were there.

Review 37:The room was clean and the king size bed was comfortable. Updated decor was nice.

Review 38:The sink didn't drain well. The sink's plunger didn't work. The water smelled like metal sometimes, different nasty smell other times. We didn't feel clean at all while staying there. No refrigerator or microwave in room. No refrigerator at all. Towels had a bit of a smell to them.

Review 39:Ice machine Close to Bryce Canyon

Review 40:The place was very clean. It would have been nice to have a little refrigerator tucked in a corner. Our air conditioner blew air but it was not cool air. We traveled at the end of June. In the evening it was cooler outside than inside. We had to open the windows and about 2am the room finally cooled off. The staff came and looked at the cooler and said it was working fine.

Review 41:The location and price were great. My family of 4 fit comfortably. The beds seemed smaller than a queen. They weren't the most comfortable but they were fine for our needs.

Review 42:the restaurant said "open" but was closed all the time. no other restaurant nearby. the facilities are a bit old.

Review 43:cute cabin, big room, friendly check-in, helpful staff.

Review 44:The beds were a little soft.

Review 45:Everything else! The family that owns the place is terrific, the room was more than spacious and comfortable. A great value!

Review 46:The staff was efficient and friendly. I had been in this area many times for work but not stayed in a hotel on vacation. This place was cleaner than I thought it would be. I felt it was a bit overpriced at $100 a night , but they are in close proximity to Bryce Csnyon in the height of the season so that is what they can charge. Some road noise so bring earplugs if that bothers you.

Review 47:Staff very friendly but ... Light bulb next to bed did not work! How canthis stay unnoticed by staff? Curtain attachment below sink partlyloose, would be easy to fix. Wifi router with very bright illuminationin each cottage mounted high on wall above bed - whey too high to reachand cover or switch off - drives you crazy at night. A cereal cup of theformer guest found under bed, how can this stay unnoticed? And finallythe signs on the door inside cottage say: "absolutely no cookinginside and around the room" (is this supposed to make guests go tothe attached restaurant?) and "all items in this room registered, anything missing will be reported to police, you car license is onrecord" is this how to talk to appreciated guests? Didn't getwifi password at checkin had to ask...

Review 48:Very Nice, clean and modern wooden cottages all the same size, offersall you need for spending a night. All rooms with two beds have fullsize beds, even if some appear recommended for 2adults&2kids andothers for 4 adults on booking.com

Review 49:No food. Staff mentioned breakfast in the restaurant but it was closed. They did not mention that, only that it was not included in the rate.

Review 50:Location is key although there is much more accommodation available than 7 years ago when we visited Bryce as well.

Review 51:It was very small bed and making a lot nose it wasn't comfortable . TV it was very old I try watch but it wasn't work restaurant on front very friendly guy's but food it wasn't good.

Review 52:No fridge, microwave or breakfast. The plumbing was poor; reversed hot & cold in sink and weak shower pressure. The "restaurant" was only open for breakfast and the nearest other restaurant was 10 miles away.

Review 53:The location was acceptable. The beds were good.

Review 54:There was a huge language barrier. The staff is middle European and had very thick accents. I believe Indian, and while that is ok understanding the staff is tough. I booked into a pet room n did so because there was no fee. When I called to be sure of an early check in they tried to tell me there was a pet charge. I had to contact booking.com to correct this issue. Ittook over an hour on the phone. The list of complaints go on for too long in this post

Review 55:Nothing really. Staff was courteous n helped facilitate an early check in.

Review 56:Mattress seemed cheap & non-plush. Biggest disappointment was the cabin floor was slanted to the west which made sleeping uncomfortable, like standing on one's head with the foot of the bed higher than the head of the bed. The cabin needs to be re-leveled, which shouldn't be too difficult.

Review 57:Small cabin was comfortable & quiet, adequately furnished. TV was an obsolete CRT instead of flat screen although the picture was good.

Review 58:no fridge

Review 59:kind staff (especially the father of the young guy at the reception who is very accommodating); comfortable; good space, location. The restaurant not working but not an issue since there were tons of options for dining around

Review 60:I requested a king cabin but got their motel instead, he said it was booking.com's fault. I ended up with a double cabin. You get what you pay for cheap price for a cheap room.

Review 61:Free WiFi

Review 62:The little cabin we stayed in was great. Very cozy and quite. We would stay there again for sure. 7 miles to the Resturants in Panguitch. Beautiful night sky to enjoy.

Review 63:The hotel is listed in Panguitch when it is 8.5 miles from town. There is no food, no vending, no amenities and it's way overpriced. Very poor customer service.

Review 64:Nothing

Review 65:the staff at the motel recommended to go for dinner to the restaurant in the quality inn nearby which happened to be the only place around to eat and the dinner was aweful, very bad quality of the Food, the staff was weird and We paid $90.00USD for the worst meal ever that of course We didn't eat.

Review 66:the cabin was very clean and nice and the staff was very nice

Review 67:Asked for 1st floor room placed on 2nd with outside stairs and no elevator. Restaurant is not open as advertised. Harold is long gone. Must be owned by the Patel group now.

Review 68:Great location to Bryce Canyon and not to far from Zion.

Review 69:terrible cottage without insulation - in night was very cold but heating was so noisy, that you can not sleep. Toilet and shower small and smell. Staff the same as whole hotel, even say hotel to this place is too much. No breakfast and 0 possibility buy something to eat in destination. Value for money is ... Close to Bryce canyon is a lot of other possibilities try some other one hotel.

Review 70:close to Bryce canyon

Review 71:These cabins were the worst experience we have ever had. Dust and dirt everywhere. Floors were slanted, bedspreads were filthy. Never again. Staff does helpful

Review 72:location

Review 73:No microwave or refrigeratior in rooms. No breakfast

Review 74:The location was perfect for us and what we wanted to do. The ownerswere very accomadiating had a emergency and had to leave early. The werevery understanding.

Review 75:Their restaurant was not open. Staff give us a coupon to go Days Inn Restaurant which a couple of miles away. Their foods were horrible and over price. We got squeaky bed.

Review 76:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Log Cabin was clean. Can't complain that cabin with price we paid.

Review 77:The towels were old. The blankets on the bed were old and worn w holes. The heater made a lot of noise .

Review 78:Liked having a cabin. It was quiet. Good water pressurein the shower.

Review 79:Owner was cordial. Even though they don't have breakfast, they had 2 microwaves in lobby area & coffee maker in room so making your own breakfast is doable. Great value.

Review 80:Restaurant not open when we were there - but good options for food on the drive to Bryce Canyon.

Review 81:Cabin interior all knotty pine - beautiful and roomy, with table and chairs, good TV reception. Easy drive to Bryce Canyon and Red Canyon.

Review 82:It was 39 degrees at night and the blanket provided was very light. The heater was quite noisy, so it was not a terrific situation.

Review 83:The log cabins are very private. You don't have sound issues with the neighbors. They do not have refrigerators or cooking facilities.

Review 84:No breakfast.

Review 85:Great dinner at the restaurant of the Quality Inn (1 mile from Harold's Place), open until 11pm. The cottage is very nice, and the heater is working well.

Review 86:They didn't have our reservation, luckily I called ahead since we wouldn't be there until 10 pm, and be ware- pets were not free like booking.com stated. I'm a little leary using bookings again. Things went fine, but could have been a disaster.

Review 87:Comfortable and easy.

Review 88:The restaurant was closed because new owners had taken over management just a couple weeks before our stay. It's remote so one of the reasons I booked was for the restaurant. There wasn't any info about the new ownership or restaurant closure on their website.

Review 89:clean, quiet and pet friendly

Review 90:When we first walked in, the staff's bedroom door by the reception counter was open and showed a messy kind of dirty just slept in bed and room, which nearly gave me the creeps. It was such a bad first impression! There was no next door restaurant, as we had expected, but we were referred to the restaurant nearby on highway 89. It was way overpriced and the young Indian worker of our motel was there, when we arrived and I'm sure he was there to collect his commission (Asian and Middle East style). We can write books about the terrible service (sloppy red-neck males only) and mediocre, very expensive meal in that place. They had no price list but brought by a white board with a price list that I think was adapted to the customer--those who pay the commission and those who don't. $27.95 for a steak with lots of fat, rewarmed powdered potatoes, no salad and a few dry-ish kernels rewarmed corn. The ribs and sauce were tasty. It was a bad referral!!!

Review 91:The bed was comfortable, clean, the corners of the room were clean, no dust or dirt , no bedbugs. Close to the parks. The bathroom was clean. One very large towel was hanging on a hook, which gave the impression it had been used. I think it is better to fold that very large towel--we didn't use it for fear it had been used. The staff was friendly, but their living quarters must be shielded from the public--it was such a shock at first entrance!

Review 92:The restaurant on site was closed but the Quality Inn was about 1/2 mile away with a great restaurant on site

Review 93:Rooms were very clean and beautifully decorated. Great value for $55.

Review 94:Styrofoam coffee cup and very old coffee, Air system old noisy and difficult to maintain setting walls very thin lacking insolation No restaurant on site, hard as rocks mattress. Zero sleep all night

Review 95:Staff was friendly

Review 96:Tiny shower, but it was okay, and I'd much rather have a shower than a bathtub.

Review 97:These darling cabins had everything we needed, were fairly priced, and the breakfast at their restaurant was delicious. The cabins were nice and soundproof, so we slept well with no outside sounds keeping us awake.

Review 98:- WiFi didn't work at all - We arrived at 8.10 pm and the woman at the office told us, that the restaurant closes at 8 o'clock and that we won't get any meal. But people just startet eating their soup... - It was very cold at night and in the morning (it was end of September) - No fridge

Review 99:- It's so close to the Bryce Canyon - Nice Cottages

Review 100:The staff had the most horrible attitude. We arrived a bit late due to heavy rains. Was given my room key and instructions to go next door to the 2nd floor (no eye contact). I objected as I had booked a cottage. She finally looked me in the eyes with a reproachful look on a her face and told me that that was not possible, as she had no cottages left. But on the upside, the rooms in the inn next door had WiFi..according to their website so do all the rooms, so either she told me a fat lie or their webpage is untrue... The rudeness continued towards most guests in the restaurant, which kind of ruined the otherwise nice place and good food.

Review 101:Food in restaurant was plain but very well tasting!

Review 102:The cottage was deceiving. Actually larger than it looked. Very clean, comfortable and quiet. A good deal for the money. Breakfast at the Inn next door was super......however dinner menu was very limited and food so-so.

Review 103:No real dislikes but it would have been nice to have had a swimming pool!

Review 104:Cabins added some charm, it was one of the closest accommodations to Bryce without being in the park itself. Meals were really nice (although cost extra).

Review 105:Wi-Fi reception is a bit poor, but hey, who needs wi-fi when on holiday.

Review 106:Clean and tidy Great breakfast and dinner (home cooked) Owner with a huge heart only 15 minutes to Bryce

Review 107:No Wifi

Review 108:The log cabins are excellent inside and out! Excellent staff or maybe the owner just call the number posted in the front door if you're late for check in, we came around 12 midnight just one ring the staff responded impronto!

Review 109:Restaurant/breakfast hours : restaurant closed at 8:30PM / breakfast starts at 8AM Shower water smells bad (sulfur)

Review 110:Very charming cabins a well equipped Nice host Restaurant with home made traditional food. Proximity to Bryce Canyon

Review 111:Not close to a gas/food/ice mart.

Review 112:Unexpectedly quaint rustic wooden cabin ... new and spacious. Down the road from Bryce Canyons and lovely humming bird feeders surround the cafe. Wonderful stay with our little boy

Review 113:The lovation is acceptable only if you stop for one night coming from or going to Bryce Canyon; Panguitch, the next place offering any services, is ten miles away. Around Harold's Place is nothing but plain desert. Free WiFi is a joke, there is no WiFi at all. Although I had it written on my confirmation, I was charged 20 extra bucks first, and only upon my complaint that there is no signal I have been told that WiFi coverage is outside (!) buildings only and been given my extra money back. Not more than that, even though I had booked and paid for WiFi. Apart from all that, the front desk lady was not very friendly. Straight after I was handed my room key, she closed the office for the day (at ~8pm!), and I had to ring via phone for the WiFi things, see above. The restaurant can't be good, never of the three times I was there I saw any person in or around.

Review 114:Motel rooms are individual cabins (but VERY close to one another).

Review 115:We arrived late, and no restaurants were open in this remote area, so I simply made dinner with my Propane Stove. Place looks a little old fashioned, but that's what adds to the character. If I wanted a 5 star hotel, I wouldn't be looking for a cabin.

Review 116:You have to try the breakfast. Home cooking at its best! My wife and I had fun "camping" in our cabin. Don't worry; there is a sink, coffee maker, shower, and two beds.

Review 117:No internet in cottage Erratic internet at office Were placed to noisy room instead of cottage and changed back only after insisting on original deal Staff is not accommodating

Review 118:Location relative to bryce

Review 119:Could do with fridge and wifi in rooms. Also a telephone to contact other rooms would have been handy as our son was poorly and staying in a separate cabin. The cellphone reception was poor.

Review 120:Nice spacious cabins.

Review 121:Restaurant wasn't open when we were there but there were many other places to eat in the area.

Review 122:The small but adequate cabin was built with the same style log as our former home. Had a pleasant piney aroma, comfy beds, nice location close to Bryce Canyon.

Review 123:Appears and feels a bit dated.

Review 124:Fairly close to Bryce Canyon. Cabins offered privacy.

Review 125:The cabins were definitly better than the motelrooms! Especially the bed. Staff is friendly. Shower is good.

Review 126:Cabin was very clean, large, and comfortable. Great value for the money. It's also pretty close to Bryce Canyon.

Review 127:There isn't somewhere close to eat the only place is only open at certain times

Review 128:Cabins were a great value.

Review 129:no breakfast included.

Review 130:everything. from view to staff to room. best deal around Bryce canyon for sure

Review 131:Out of Season - so the Restaurant is not avalible..

Review 132:Good located - nice place -

Review 133:The beds were uncomfortable.

Review 134:We like the price and location.

Review 135:Hot water running out too soon.

Review 136:Very comfortable and quiet, location is nice.

Review 137:Room not as shown in photos, toilet not clean. No restaurant on site as advertised.

Review 138:Check in staff friendly, good location.
