Reviews for Magnolia Hotel Denver
Review 1:There was a lot of mold in the shower and on the shower head. Took three hours to get two pillows delivered to the room.
Review 2:Staff was friendly. Bed was comfortable.
Review 3:5:00am, the shower was cold. Calling the reception. They told me to wait for 15 mins with the water open, but only after 25 mins was hot! This is unacceptable in 2016 for an hotel in the center of Denver.
Review 4:Our sheets were dirty with blood and hair. We were moved and the sheets in the second too room were dirty as well. I called down to have clean sheets brought up but never happened. We ended up sleeping on the top sheet. Also, My parents with us and originally put into a room that house keeping had not even touched yet. We left to go to a Broncos game and when we got back their room was still not clean! I was not charged for either room however I was told a manager would call or email me. I have yet to hear from them. I have stayed there before many times and did not have an issue with the sheets or overall cleanliness. I am very disappointed that a nice hotel would have cleaning staff that just make the bed without changing the sheets in between guests! I Won't go back again.
Review 5:The only negative is that the shower was bad. Not much water pressure (we were only on the 5th floor) and only got to warm...wasn't hot enough by any means.
Review 6:Very convenient to 16th St mall and all fun dinner spots in downtown.
Review 7:The street noise was, at times, unbearable. The windows should be made sound proof. Also, parking should be included in the price of the room.
Review 8:The location, the amenities and the staff were all incredible. The staff really made me fell like i was at home and the location was extremely convenient.
Review 9:It was Christmas Eve and needed reco for dinner Christmas night and no one to give us the information
Review 10:LOVED the Cookies & Milk from 8 to 10pm-very nice treat and the breakfast was good as well.
Review 11:No soap or shampoo in tub area during our two night stay. I was told by front desk when I made my reservation that the offered free shuttle service to Broncos stadium, but they did not
Review 12:Breakfast was excellent. Location was great.
Review 13:Overpriced. Elevators need help. Would've liked a better view., The other side of the hotel isn't that interesting.
Review 14:Great location. Nice rooms. Very clean.
Review 15:Suites are kind of small and interior design is a little boring and minimal. Stop ripping off your guests by making them pay top dollar for HORRIBLE wifi speeds that no where near match the speeds promised when purchasing.
Review 16:Great location and amenities.
Review 17:Homeless people on the street are a real problem.
Review 18:Hotel provides lots of "extras" such as the happy hour, cookie treats and a very nice breakfast. Great location for a downtown Denver experience
Review 19:Valet was not always available; we would have to request it from the check-in desk. Not a big deal but one night we had to go back to the desk because our key was coded incorrectly for length of stay.
Review 20:The breakfast was very good. Our room was clean. Location was good.
Review 21:My only complaint would be that the blinds didn't do a good job of blocking out the city light around the edges, so the room should've been much darker.
Review 22:We took advantage of a last-minute deal and booked the Magnolia for $118/night. Our room was upgraded and we were put on the 11th floor. The room was spacious and the bed was superb. Everything was spotless, too. The staff was friendly and helpful and we also took advantage of the evening reception for free wine. the breakfast was very good with a decent selection of food and very good coffee. We loved the location and used it to walk up and down the 16th Street Mall several times that evening and in the morning. We'd definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends. Room Tip: Don't get a room facing South--a little too noisy
Review 23:There was no ice machine on my floor as well as soda machine on the men's whatever.
Review 24:Loved the location. Staff was friendly and helpful. I am is it within walking distance of 16th St. mallwhich was beautiful.
Review 25:If you snooze you lose on the hot water. And when it's snowing outside and you lose the hot water game it makes for a very cold wake up call. Got me up earlier the next day though!
Review 26:The hotel had a great location in Downtown Denver and was very close to shopping and attractions. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. All of the extras (breakfast, happy hour and cookies) were appreciated!
Review 27:Air con/heating made such a horrendous noise that we had to put it on in short blasts. Although there was a very good alternative provided, the gym in the hotel was being renovated. This was not mentioned on the website at time of booking.
Review 28:Great location in town.
Review 29:Everytime we go here the elevators don't work very well. sometimes waiting 5 to 10 min to get picked up, tried to take the stairs but could not locate the exit in the 1st floor had to go back up to the 2nd and continue to wait
Review 30:The staff is always great, and the rooms are clean and nice. They are always accodimating on our anniversary weekend.
Review 31:The staff was friendly but not overly accommodating. It was very confusing and complicated to get our car from the parking garage. We tried to order a bottle of wine from room service but no one answered after multiple attempts, so went downstairs to the bar. Not a big deal, but disappointing.
Review 32:The location was excellent and the accommodations were beautiful. Great view from the room, very comfortable bed. The cocktail hour was very pleasant!
Review 33:The room did not seem to be very clean. The bathroom was not properly cleaned (e.g. rubbish was collected only twice over my 4 day stay). Breakfast was almost the same every day and with no much variety to choose from.
Review 34:Very well located close to many attractions. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The room was very spacious and the bed comfortable.
Review 35:There is no view. No light was coming in even during the day. It felt like a prison cell. The shower leaked, and the aircon on my first night of stay there was extremely loud.
Review 36:The location was convenient.
Review 37:If you're not used to city noises, you can hear emergency vehicles and depending on your orientation, the light rail. All part of being in the city. :)
Review 38:Love the location, decor AND BED!! Great space
Review 39:Heating in first room didn't work so they moved us promising a fire which also didn't work. Each day housekeeping staff left something out, hand towels, face cloths, nothing serious, just annoying!
Review 40:This hotel in many ways was perfect, the breakfast was good, the drinks hour really good, the milk and cookies a very nice touch, location good, decor very nice but.......
Review 41:the heater was very loud. we could not get much help for tours and sightseeing.
Review 42:friendly staff, afternoon wine hour, evening cookies and milk, great location, comfortable beds, modern rooms and bathrooms.
Review 43:There did not appear to be any heat in the 12th floor hallway. It took a very long time to get hot water in the bathroom.
Review 44:I really liked how friendly the entire staff was all the time.
Review 45:The room we had was next to a mechanical room that had a constant hum. Very annoying. The windows aren't insulated very well so you get a lot of street noise even on the 9th floor.
Review 46:The staff was great, rooms were nice and location was good.
Review 47:I will never stay at this property again. At 6.50 am directly below myroom construction workers started using demolition tools which not onlywere very loud and woke me up. It sounded as if they were demolishingthe bathroom below me. I called the front desk and it did not stop. Icalled again and the front desk said they already told them. This was aconscious management decision. I own buildings, so I know this would notoccur without authorization. On check out I was given a $100 credit. Iexplained that if I were checking in and they offered a $100 discount tobe woken before 7, or to pay the booked price I would choose the fullprice and sleep option. I was on an earlier time zone and had a veryfull day, and it took longer to fall asleep the night before because ofthat. Do not stay at this hotel.
Review 48:Didn't like the sink & faucet in the bathroom. Difficult to wash face. Also no hot water when showered. Disappointed in that.
Review 49:Loved the complimentary breakfast!
Review 50:The window was difficult to open and close.
Review 51:The location is within walking distance to The Mall, which has lots of shops and restaurants. Wine and beer reception in evening and cookies and milk at night!
Review 52:One minor comment would be in relation to the breakfast area which was limited in seating availability
Review 53:The breakfast was simple, but very nice. Although, I didn't partake, I did see the milk & cookie presentation on evening and it is a nice touch. One of the barmen(Chris) in particular was above average in customer service and attitude
Review 54:Beautiful facility, convenient, and well appointed. Only drawback is the room noise, you can hear traffic which is problematic; hotel was booked so they couldn't move me but ask about a quiet room; they have them.
Review 55:The bathtub was very dirty. :( they offered us another room at 1:30 in the morning which was too late. Rooms are small
Review 56:II liked the location, the staff did discount our room due to the condition of bathroom.
Review 57:The parking is tricky. Otherwise everything was aweSome
Review 58:The staff www so helpful even when we had trouble parking vehicle they were helpful. Great location in centre of city. Happy hour was FREE drinks be sure to be around 5.30 to 6,30. Beer and wine in lounge. Waiter was full of helpful information too.
Review 59:The bathroom could be a bit upgraded for the price, but overall very happy.
Review 60:Loved the staff and the bed was super comfy. Liked the complementary happy hour and free car service!
Review 61:Decor made no sense. Plenty of room for a second comfy chair or no comfy chair but a sofa. Lamps too big for end tables.
Review 62:Great breakfast. Clean room.
Review 63:Hotel was one block away from the 16th Street Mall and public transportation. Stayed in a suite room that was very comfortable and kept very clean on the 11th floor. The continental breakfast had several choices and was tasty. Always had fresh fruit salad available, yogurt, eggs, sausage, toast, juices, and coffee as well as hot oatmeal cereal. Nice overall impression of the hotel.
Review 64:Valet was rude & scratched our friends car. Employees were snobby & not very friendly since we looked low class. No fridge or microwave for price had to pay
Review 65:location was next to 16th St mall
Review 66:I was awakened both mornings at 6:00 a.m. by construction above my room. It took 2 hours to receive food from room service.
Review 67:The staff was very kind and helpful.
Review 68:If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room not facing the street. The tram/ street car line gets into service early in the morning. The announcements and door signals can be troublesome. On the flip side, the stop is right in front of the hotel, so very convenient again.
Review 69:Good size of rooms, modern appearance, spacious bath room. Great room service!
Review 70:Walking out of the front door takes you right into 16th st mall and the train if you're going anywhere else in Denver. We only stayed for a night to get away from home, and had a great time.
Review 71:The ventilation system was very noisy and it seemed like there was very little humidity in the room - although this seems common in many hotels.
Review 72:It is a beautiful building and the rooms are decorated very tastefully. The staff were courteous and helpful. It is conveniently located.
Review 73:Each time we stay at the Magnolia, there has been a maintenance issue. The staff compensated us for the inconvenience each time. Also, there is not a pool.
Review 74:We have stayed here several times. The King Suite comes equipped with a full kitchen, dining table and sitting area. The bathroom is spacious with a tub. Depending on the layout of the particular room, we put our toddler's pack and play in the bathroom or the closet. The free breakfast is a real breakfast with plenty of choices, and we also enjoy the happy hour.
Review 75:It appears that all the service staff were African American or Hispanic and the desk staff and drivers, valet staff, all white. Not so good. Train and promote from within. It will make guests more comfortable.
Review 76:All the staff were great
Review 77:One small thing needed sorting with the room after checking in, but this was fixed quickly and effectively.
Review 78:Spacious room and comprehensive buffet breakfast.
Review 79:A extra half hour added to the breakfast time would be greatly appreciated. Breakfast a bit basic, but wholesome enough, put it into context we stayed for 8 days. More variety of cereals would be good (with less sugar in them). Service was excellent and friendly.
Review 80:clean room, very helpful. Even though the hotel is being refurbished it did not affect us at all. They are doing this in quite a smart way with no disruption to the guests...well done.
Review 81:Very small rooms with minimal amenities. Pretty pricey for what you get. Valet parking was $29!
Review 82:The hotel is in a great location, within a walking distance of the 16th Street Mall and other Downtown attractions. They have a few complimentary services that are pretty nice. The front desk staff is friendly.
Review 83:Facility undergoing scheduled boiler repairs on reservation dates whichshould have been communicated to incoming guests so that they would notbe 'blind sided' / or there management should havediscounted every room for those nights without water. It was seeminglyless than being completely transparent/professional.
Review 84:Staff Cleanliness
Review 85:The bed was extremely hard. The location is not great--near a dirty, run-down part of 16th St.
Review 86:We received excellent customer service from every employee we came into contact with. The complimentary beer/wine and chocolate chip cookies were nice. Harry's (bar) had a nice atmosphere.
Review 87:Nothing I didn't like.
Review 88:Clean and a friendly helpful staff!! Great drink hour and loved the milk and cookies!! Nice small touches that make you feel welcomed.
Review 89:Reserved a room with a fireplace but received a room that didn't have one. When asked the front desk clerk told me they over booked the room and that I would have to settle on the room I was given. This was to be a romantic weekend and I booked at this hotel for the fireplace. They need to be sure they don't over book rooms or have a way of working around it other than making people settle.
Review 90:Overall the stay was good. Staff was friendly. The valet attendants were awesome.
Review 91:The only thing I didn't like was the bed.. It wasn't comfortable compared to many other hotels I've visited
Review 92:I liked the staff always professional.. The hotel is nice to look at, very pleasing to the eye.. The gym is one of the best I've seen in a hotel stay in Denver.. Nice hotel
Review 93:We were awaken by construction noise outside our room around 7:00. Front desk staff was unconcerned when it was brought to their attention upon checkout.
Review 94:We booked this room on short notice. We were very surprised to find that when we booked a "king bed suite" that is exactly what we got. This room was very comfortable. The restaurant was good, and the cookie and milk bar was nice as well. Starbucks on sight is a plus. Would definitely return for a long weekend.
Review 95:Construction across the street started with objects being thrown in a dumpster at 5:30 AM. I notified the front desk the next morning and they said they had a few other complaints and they would look into it. Was never offered a discount or comp despite sleepless night at expensive hotel.
Review 96:Service was fine.
Review 97:I booked this hotel last minute. What great option! I was surprised with the great hospitality of the hotel team! The best room size ever! It felt like home! Loved it! The complimentary drink for happy hour time, free shuttle and complimentary breakfast makes Magnolia the BEST hotel when visiting Denver. Will be back for sure!
Review 98:Nothing I didn't like. Everything there was just about perfect for me and my girlfriend.
Review 99:My first time to Colorado and my last day there we decide to stay in a hotel. It was amazing every one was nice and friendly and the hotel it self was beautiful. I'm for sure coming back.
Review 100:nothing was wrong
Review 101:the suite with fireplace was beautiful and clean and cozy ! second stay here and this room was spacious and clean ! love it !! staff remember me and was nice as ever !
Review 102:The staff are very friendly and willing to help however they can. It was basically a blizzard the night we stayed and their car service picked us up after the hours they worked so we would not have to call a cab. We also ordered room service right before they closed and the staff were incredibly friendly to do so at 1 am! The room was much larger than I anticipated also. The only complaint I have is that the pillows were too fluffy, but this a great place to stay and we will definitely be back!
Review 103:The couch in our room (1210) was the worst. It really needs to be replaced with a new, more plush style or two arm chairs. It was a shame to be uncomfortable in front of the lovely fireplace.
Review 104:Our hotel room had a lovely fireplace with a corner location on the 12th floor. Everything was very clean with plenty of towels. The early evening wine hour was so nice, especially since it was so cold outside. And then the cookies and milk later in the evening were the icing on the cake!! Complimentary breakfast was varied and very attractively presented. Everyone on the staff was helpful and welcoming.
Review 105:Everyone working at this hotel is professional, friendly, and authentically happy to help you with anything at all! PS- The king bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in at any hotel, including The Four Seasons!
Review 106:Valet parking was full when we arrived. The bar was freezing, all staff and customers were wearing their coats. The bed in our room was more like a soft trampoline. We had ZERO hot water. If you can't sleep and can't shower, what good is a hotel room??
Review 107:Full kitchen in our room. Great tile in the bathroom.
Review 108:cold outside----bedroom was cold...bed and pillows were not comfortable....thermostat control did not seem to help.
Review 109:easy to get to shuttle for riding the 16th street mall -- free riding in either direction.....comfy bathrobes were a surprising bonus...
Review 110:The room itself was bad. We were put in the furthest back area of the second floor. It was like the hall had been forgotten about. The hallway to the room was long and dirty looking. There were paint touch ups all along the hall in missed matched shade. When we got to the room a huge try of old food was just sitting at my doorway. It smells bad so must have been there a bit. The room itself was very large, but not taken care of. There was a kitchen area had dirty dishes in it. We had a 2nd floor view of office buildings and the trolley ran right outside my bed room window, hard to sleep or relax with that noise. The bathroom floor had broken tile in it and missing grout. The tub was huge and stained. It was like the hotel forgot to clean the place up. The extra blanket we found at the top of the closet looked and smelled like they have not been used in years. The kitchen looked cheap, the particleboard cabinets were gross, outdated and coming undone. And the wifi did not work for me at all. When I called to correct it, I was on hold for a long time, so I hung up. I was also very disappointed, I asked if a gluten free cookie could be served at their complimentary cookie bar, like one or two, I asked in a email when I booked the room. No cookies again. I can't eat wheat and I can't drink alcohol so both great services were completely wasted. It's a million dollar hotel, I couldn't get one cookie? I had stayed there a few days before on the 11th floor in another king suite and it was amazing. So I had high expectations for my stay. Sadly you get what you pay for. I paid $119+ tax and paid $29 to park my car. We only paid $115+ tax for the 11th floor room. So I got what I paid for?? Very disappointed and will tell everyone about my terrible stay and will suggest to stay somewhere else.
Review 111:The hotel is beautiful. They have a great staff of very friendly people who are willing to help you for whatever you need. The breakfast that was included with my room was amazing.
Review 112:I had trouble with the Internet and I was there for business so it was very inconvenient
Review 113:I liked the apartment feel of the king suite. It it was always the rate I got, I wouldn't stay anywhere else !
Review 114:Small room no fridge or microwave and self parking
Review 115:Everyone was polite and took care of all my needs! Talk to a lady name Sharon she was very helpful! The buffet was good ! Enjoyed my stay the rooms was nice just to small ! Location and happy hour and cookies and milk
Review 116:The drapes in our bedroom did not close all the way. That fact compromised our sleep.
Review 117:The hotel is well located, and the staff is friendly and efficient.
Review 118:Breakfast ends too soon! The beds are so comfortable, that we always sleep late!
Review 119:The service is impeccable! That's the main reason we have stayed more than once!! The room was very clean and bed & pillows amazing! Just for warning you, we will be back :-)
Review 120:The business amenities were not favorable - the printing station was slow, expensive, and broke down during my visit. The internet was also extremely slow. The hotel is pretty dark inside as well, which didn't bother me tremendously, but I know would be an issue for others.
Review 121:The staff was friendly for the most part, the valet parking was very prompt, breakfast was very good and extensive, the milk and cookies at night are a nice touch, and there are plenty of restaurants in the area to eat at night
Review 122:The staff team is friendly, particularly people at the front door, always attentive also helpful in advising local shops and resolving my airport transportation problem. Thanks to Chris, Jordan, and others.
Review 123:Breakfast wasn't so great, however, it was complimentary so really no need to complain.
Review 124:Loved the boutique style hotel. Great location. Wine & Cookie bar each night. Fantastic. Staff was very friendly and helpful in every way possible. We'd come again.
Review 125:slow internet no bathroom fan Lack of comfortable furniture in fireplace LIVINGroom?
Review 126:Convenience for travel Great Staff...to many to name ...from Concierge to morning breakfast staff and maid service... front desk was always a big help. I will recommend and stay again.
Review 127:The wifi wouldn't work after the first night. I did not check with the desk to correct the issue as I did not really need it the second day.
Review 128:Excellent facility and great, helpful staff. The wine in the evening and cookies and milk at night were nice ammenities and the breakfast buffet was excellent. This hotel is at the top of the list for future stays, acing out both the Mariott and Hyatt. We had a three room suite for less than a single room at the Mariott Downtown.
Review 129:Breakfast employees. Wifi. Beer / wine reception (it didn't exist). Eric's attitude 'the night manager'. The employees Not believing there's actually problems with the hotel. House keeping
Review 130:This was my first visit to Denver and I was really looking forward to my stay here, as it was our last stop on our round the world holiday, however as you'll read from the below, customer service isn't a priority for Magnolia hotel, nor is compensating their guests for very bad service through out their stay, in my opinion it's more of a 'visual' hotel...Our flight landed in Denver at 10pm, there's currently only 3 public ways of getting into town: Taxi, Bus & Super-shuttle, we opted for the Super-shuttle which was $44 one way for 2 people (they are building a metro line to the airport but it's not complete yet). The journey from the airport to the hotel took about 40 minutes. The hotel is in a perfect location to all the tourist attractions, and shopping areas, you could actually walk to all of them if the weather is nice (as we did).Checkin' was quick and the lady on reception was pleasant, polite and informative. We stayed in room 910, As you enter the room there's a closet on the left containing room to hang your clothes, an iron / ironing board, and an electronic safe, (however unless you swiped your credit card. It wont work - it says you don't have too, However we tried (a lot of times) and you certainly do needed your credit card, so we didn't use it), to the right there's also additional storage space. There was also x2 bathrobes, (I'd worn one and left It on the sofa in the living room, however housekeeping took it the morning of 31st October and didn't replace it (I wasn't happy about this...
Review 131:Staff name tags are difficult to read, text is TOO SMALL to see from more than 2ft away and is on a reflective background that adds to the diffuculty of reading. Easy fix to recognize and be able to address staff by name. No-I do not need or wear glasses. :)
Review 132:Excellent Service from Staff, Very nice gym with essentials, really appreciated the central air conditioning and awsome customer service of front desk and breakfast crew.
Review 133:Came for our anniversary, which was not acknowledged. And did not get a good night sleep the entire time we were there due to construction across the street. Overpriced for a 3 night stay.
Review 134:Beautiful hotel and awesome location.
Review 135:room was not anything to talk about. carpet was not tacked down, poor sleep- could hear noise and traffic throughout the night.
Review 136:staff, location, response to complaints was amazing. If my complaint of the poor room quality was not addressed, I would not recommend the hotel to anyone ever!!! However, Ashly addressed my issue with grace and professionalism. YOU have my recommendation for the future. I hope you get rooms modified and presented in a way more guest would recommend Magnolia in the future.
Review 137:The prices for everything was very high, but you expect that when you stay downtown in a city!!!
Review 138:Bed was awesome!!!!! Service was excellent and room was better than expected!! Very happy :-)
Review 139:The trains run all night. Very noisy, and I don't think the windows are double pane. Wasn't too terrible, but I did hear them running.
Review 140:Awesome location, happy hour, breakfast, even milk and cookies! Got the King with the fireplace. Amenities are better than average, overall I was very pleased with the value.
The Fine Print
