Reviews for The Oxford Hotel Denver
Review 1:The noise from the room across the hall was very noticeable to our room via the heating system and the air condition was very loud.
Review 2:Excellent location for our onward journey, staff very courteous, room was clean and a good temperature.
Review 3:Due to the close proximity to Union Station and the night trains that go through Denver it can be very noisy.
Review 4:Staff were superb, friendly and very helpful. Lovely hotel and the Cruise Bar was really good fun. Great location in the downtown district.
Review 5:The price is higher than what I generally Like to pay.
Review 6:Traveling by train, this boutique hotel is just a few steps from Denver's Union Station. The hotel is nicely situated so that you can enjoy other area attractions of the lower downtown district of Denver. McCormick's Fishhouse restaurant located in the hotel has excellent food and service
Review 7:Old and historic hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Great location for shopping and dining! Loved the valet parking! The Cruise Room had excellent appetizers and cocktails- very friendly bartender. Thought the room was a little overpriced...
Review 8:Being charged daily for so called complimentary gestures eg courtesy car and not being told of the charge when checking in. We only found out about the charge when checking out
Review 9:Comfortable hotel in good location
Review 10:Between the location (walking distance from tons of restaurants and Coors Field), the amazing spa, the attentive staff and the historic-but-in-no-way-shabby ambience, I can't think of a single thing I didn't like. The only thing I might do differently next time would be to upgrade to a room with a claw-foot tub for the full experience.
Review 11:All good. The lobby furniture needs to be replaced. Keep the 1890s feel but upgrade now.
Review 12:Great history. Super location. Great staff. Stewart the concierge/ bell commander is a treasure. Tuned in and knowledgeable. Man of a thousand stories. No probably more. Overall, hotel has kept a 1890s feel. But it does need a few touches of TLC here and there.
Review 13:While the room was nice and clean in general, the shower could have done with a little more attention.
Review 14:Unique hotel adjacent to Union Station. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice and sizeable rooms. Wonderful historic style maintained throughout the building. Definitely worth a recommendation.
Review 15:The wifi information was not shared with us. I realized that we did have free wifi access the day before we left.
Review 16:The hotel was beautifully decorated and in the perfect location for those wanting to brewery hop. Hotel service was exceptional.
Review 17:Rooms could be larger, charges for certain toiletries in the bathroom
Review 18:Character of the hotel, location next to the union station and close to eateries and shopping. Valet and staff were great
Review 19:The historic charm and very convenient location were wonderful. Since two of the three travelers had mobility issues, the extremely helpful staff made a world of difference to our stay.
Review 20:I had mixed results at the restaurant. The breakfast was splendid, with lovely fresh fruit elegantly displayed and a delicious homemade sweetbread. However, dinner was a very tough and almost rancid tasting cut of steak tips. It should not have been served. And mashed potatoes that tasted worse than from a box. Not worth the price they were charging.
Review 21:Staff were very friendly and helpful. They did the best they could with what they had (a very old hotel). I liked the antique furniture, and character of the hotel. I loved the workout room, although they could have posted signs on how to get to it by the two routes. In the rain I had to go outside, down the street, search through windows until I figured out the entrance to the club. Once there, it was quite fun and well equipped.
Review 22:Just dated. Obviously it's very old and that's great but it was in need of some upkeep. Very noisy as well but again, it's old and that doesn't help in this case.
Review 23:Location was excellent, especially if you are going to take in a baseball game at Coors Field or business meeting close by
Review 24:The Oxford dates to the 1890's, but it is still considered one of Denver's premier hotels. The interiors feature a look that at first appears vintage, but outside of the updated bathrooms, the furniture, drapes and other interior items simply look old and uncared for. Whether in public areas or in the room, furniture pieces look like antique store items before someone buys it, takes it home, and cares for it. In the ownership hands of someone with deep pockets, this hotel could become something really special. As for now, it feels like the property is only "good enough" to get by, but not a special experience in a great old hotel.
Review 25:The staff was very friendly and helpful. Oddly, the "day-of-the-week" rug in the old elevator was a nice touch. The hotel ran very smoothly.
Review 26:We were there for a concert at the Pepsi Center. The staff offered to give us a ride to the concert in the hotel's vehicle, which was so helpful! Every staff person we encountered went out of their way to make us feel welcome!
Review 27:We like the "old world" ambiance of the Oxford and have frequented it for many years. All the old photos and antiques are so interesting. Also like the coffee urns in the halls in the am--much better than making your own!!
Review 28:We stayed in infamous room 320. (Look it up). Since it's Denver's oldest hotel, it felt like we were back in a hotel in Europe. The bed was very comfortable as were the bathrobes. We'll be back,
Review 29:The chair in the room at the desk. I was working on computer for long period of time, and it was very uncomfortable.
Review 30:How convenient it was to the train station.
Review 31:My husband and I stayed at the Oxford to celebrate our anniversary. The free valet parking was a big plus, the service was excellent, the room had a charming art-deco style, and the central downtown location was terrific.
Review 32:The room was on a 2nd floor corner and was drafty. It was hard to reach anyone on the phone, ie room service, front desk. We would just get a fast busy signal.
Review 33:The beds and pillows were great. The location near Union Station was perfect and festive for New Years eve.
Review 34:1. Street noise and light. There was no privacy after dark with our lights on! Window shades are needed. 2. Bed was comfortable, but pillows were those 18" square things - too short for use.
Review 35:Overall character and ambiance were superb, especially at Christmas. Our room was spacious. Our request for the blue room shown on website was met. Bathroom was very functional and attractive.
Review 36:no complaints about anything.
Review 37:The hotel has been kept in excellent condition and the décor is beautiful and in keeping with the age of the building. The staff was very helpful and efficient, especially the bell staff. The Oxford's location is wonderful, great walking area and practically across the street from the restored Union Station. I would definitely recommend the Oxford to anyone travelling to Denver.
Review 38:Can't list a thing! :)
Review 39:The location is perfect. Services available e.g. free ride within 2 mi. of hotel helped with weary feet or time constraints.
Review 40:Two room chairs could be more comfortable. Had to call housekeeping for toiletries.
Review 41:Cruise Room (bar) and Mccormick/Schmick restaurant in hotel; both have character. Near Coors Field. Public transit at Union Station (renovated) one block walk. Accessible walking to all of downtown and greenways. Hidden gems for bars and restaurants nearby.
Review 42:The location, next to the re-opened stunning Union Station, couldn't be any better. A beautiful hotel with lots of history and very comfortable rooms. We loved the choice (and quality) offered for breakfast and the cheerful, personable staff serving it - a brilliant start into the day. The hotel provides transfer to a variety of destinations, including the Airport which is most helpful when travelling without a car. A slight confusion about booking-dates was made up for in the most professional and charming way, that really impressed us. We will definitely be back.
Review 43:Having to hand in the key. Spend alot of time waiting for the front desk while they were helping customers to either drop off or pick up the keys. TV was old flat screen, gave off lots of heat and made loud electronic sound. Very poor cell service with sprint. Probably cannot be helped but was annoying.
Review 44:Location. Leo the doorman was fantastic. Great recommendations from him on where to go and what we could see in close proximity. Also was not as busy as the fron desk. Great employee!
Review 45:He helped us so much - was so friendly knew everything about where to go and what to see - told us the restaurants that were good - he was amazing . We live in Boulder, and will come back again - because of him..... thank you Leo
Review 46:Ridiculous service fee and parking fee.
Review 47:Room is neat
Review 48:Great location in LoDo area. Cozy and comfortable rooms. Fireplace in lobby with complimentary whisky between 5:30 and 6:30 pm every day.
Review 49:A bit of a freaky place - I heard boots clunking above ceiling but was staying on top floor - heard the place was haunted -

Review 99:Nothing!
Review 100:The entire staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Stuart, our bellman was wonderful. Helped us get settled and provided excellent dinning and entertainment recomendations. We will definitely stay at the Oxford our next visit to Denver.
Review 101:Would have liked a room safe - the safety deposit boxes held our passports but too small for the ipad so had to carry it around all day.
Review 102:All the staff were excellent especially the doormen. We had an arrival at 2am due to train problems and Anthony the night doorman was really nice. Old world charm. The elevator mats were changed daily featuring the day of the week. Lovely room, large comfortable bed, fast wifi. The Cruse bar was stylish- had superb cocktails and good food there.
Review 103:I don't know when I've enjoyed a stay more. The hotel staff made a point to recognize us. It was easy to get rides to nearby locations. I loved the old fashioned touches such as the room keys on ribbon fobs, and rugs in the elevators naming the day of the week.
Review 104:The staff mis-directed me twice to the wrong place for my event. The 3rd time, I was led to the correct location. I thought the cost of the room too high.
Review 105:The hotel was charming and the room spacious and beautiful.
Review 106:My Booking.com reservation was not in their system upon arrival. But, the front desk had no problem making our arrangements.
Review 107:Great light in the corner rooms. Character that only comes with an older building.
Review 108:We have stayed a few times over the years and chose to stay here again for our daughters wedding weekend. Perfect stay and great pictures of the bride and bridemaids before the wedding. We all had our hair done in the spa/salon too! Perfect!
Review 109:Front desk staff was a bit aloof. Computers were down when we checkedout. I was promised a receipt on line. Have yet to receive it. We werein town for a concert at the Pepsi Center. We were disappointed to findthat the bar was closed when we returned from the concert.
Review 110:The hotel is an enjoyable, convenient place to stay. Love the restaurantand bar. Room was fine. Valet staff was terrific.
Review 111:The staff was exceptional and made my stay easy and comfortable. The valet and car service was particularly beneficial, as I had to get places early each morning. Nick, Dave, and Stuart were fantastic! The Oxford is my first choice downtown.
Review 112:There was a slight smell in the corridor. The wifi had some glitches
Review 113:The deccor and feel of the place are very special . It definitely has character. The staff were extremely nice. The bar is lovely. The bed is very comfortable.
Review 114:Only staying for one night! Nothing bad to say about this hotel at all.
Review 115:Everything about this hotel is fabulous, the staff, the location, the facilities, the food! We got a complimentary upgrade to a suite as we were on honeymoon. We stayed in a lot of hotels on honeymoon and this was the only one that made a special effort for us. The suite was absolutely amazing, the rooms are immaculate and the attention to detail in them is unbelievable. There was iphone docking stations, a wii, a bar, two bathrooms and the bed was unbelievably comfortable. The worst thing was that we were only staying one night in Denver but as soon as we saw the room and the hotel we asked for a late checkout which was arranged straight away with no fuss. The food for breakfast and lunch was really nice and the cocktail bar is fab. Will be looking for an excuse to go back for another stay.
Review 116:The hallway was a bit musty and the service at the restaurant was slow. Wifi didn't work well for all purposes.
Review 117:We loved the ambiance and deccor. The bed was very comfortable.Location is great. The staff were kind and friendly and the town car service very helpful. The bar is wonderful.
Review 118:no slippers...! ;-)
Review 119:the wonderful retro atmosphere at the hotel with its authentic feel, the incredibly friendly staff, the central location. all excellent yet still pleasantly low-key.
