Reviews for Thavorn Palm Beach Resort Phuket

Review 1:Was advertised as a beachfront room. This is a stretch!! Very disappointed in the room for the price and lack of privacy. Extremely overpriced hotel and very dated and sparse. Breakfast poor. Pools over chlorinated so not enjoyable to swim in with very early cut off. Gardens reeked of mould and the mould enters the air con to your room. Lots of quotes around the garden about life and nature, yet they have a beautiful bird tied by its leg to a stone (for the tourists). It flaps about trying to fly off...sad. Staff not well managed and clearly don't like their job, look bored and are not engaged. Overall not happy at all.

Review 2:The hotel is in a reasonably good location, we think, however what we liked most is leaving.

Review 3:The hotel is very old. All its territory and facilities in a very bad condition. The breakfast was not tasty at all. The staff mostly was kind but unhelpful, girls on the reception looked like they came there for the first time and don't understand what do you ask them. Our bed was very uncomfortable, too hard mattress, thin pillows, big hole between two beds connected together.

Review 4:Spacious rooms. Nice idea to bring rabbits and turtles for kids.

Review 5:Excellent location, can walk to many restaurants and shops but you are far enough away from the loud nightlife. The grounds and garden are pretty and relaxing. Great staff. Nice breakfast.

Review 6:Not a 5* hotel, lack of chairs at the pool - many people putting their towel at the chairs in the morning to "reserve" their beds for the day. A real family hotel with many small children during our stay begin of January.

Review 7:The front desk manager did a good job handling our complaint; enabling us to move to another room and arrange a late check-out. Nice garden. Various pools.

Review 8:No beds/parasols at the beach - not enough beds and parasols at the pools, English speaking is difficult for most staff, it's more tailored for Russians and Italians, poor cocktails, a bit overpriced, more a 3.5 star resort, staff is very friendly and always ready to help when they understand you, special thanks to Miauw, was very helpful.

Review 9:Location is very nice, beautiful gardens

Review 10:Misses the mark on service and attention to detail. F&B outlets average quality and service somewhat 'meh' - without exception - on the several times utilized. Breakfasts very average.

Review 11:Older style resort, great grounds.

Review 12:The staff do not speak fluent English at all and the few that do are very poor in clearness in their speech. The breakfast was to a very poor standard. Guests are allowed to book deckchairs with their towels way before they go to the pool.

Review 13:The pools are great as is the landscaping. Across the road from Karon Beach.

Review 14:Nothing

Review 15:We were on our honeymoon and this was the perfect place to stay. The hotel and grounds were lovely, very natural surrounding and close to the beach.

Review 16:Staff at reception, we're not helpful at all during the stay. Had to argue to get a receipt on check out. Contrary to what it says on booking. Com they took the money before arrival.

Review 17:Fantastic Breakfast, rooms superb, did not want to leave.

Review 18:All was great.Beautiful holiday and can't wait to come back.Great hotel and great position.Accross the street you have the sea and all shops are nearby. Hotel has nice swimming pools and beautiful animals in the gardens. The breakfast is very good and there are many things to eat.And all the staff are really friendly, helpful and always smiling.Would like to say HI to the director,Adel and Janya who are so nice.See you next year and thanks for a fantastic holiday.Brigitte and Maria

Review 19:Room cleaning service was a little defficient. no elevator for some areas of the hotel. A problem for baby trolleys.

Review 20:The gardens and leasure area are amazing. The staff is friendly and supportive.

Review 21:Bed was too hard. Wifi is iffy. I don't understand why the hot water was only working properly 1 of 4 day I was there (i just turned off the Air Con 5 minutes beofre a shower

Review 22:The pool & gardens are great with so many water features - very relaxing. All the staff met my expectations of being very friendly.

Review 23:The Mexican restaurant was closed during our stay which was disappointing.

Review 24:The pools and the gardens were lovely, the animals were great for the kids especially the baby bunnies!!! Beds were very comfy, and the rooms were a great size. Loved the onsite Thai restaurant too.

Review 25:- staff (hardly knows English and also is not supportive) - rooms (need some renovation) - breakfast (warm dishes quality was not good)

Review 26:- gardens - location

Review 27:It is an old facility and they try to maintain the natural feel , so don't expect a shiny modern hotel. The location a bit away from the main tourist area called Patong.

Review 28:The overall natural setting of the resort is excellent. Its best for having a relaxed and quiet time. They have 5 excellent pools to suit everybody. The location is very peaceful, just opposite to beach.

Review 29:They forgot to pick us up from the airport even though transfers were confirmed multiple times. They tried to tell us all rooms only had single beds although we booked and confirmed a double. I had to argue at 1am to get a double, they attempted to just push the singles together! Dirty linen and towels. Sheets changed only once in 8 days. Decore very old and dated. Pool closed at 7pm every night!!theres nothing to do around the 'resort' in the evening, it's like a graveyard. Breakfast selection terrible.

Review 30:The location directly across from the beach was the best part of this hotel. Also the grounds are quite beautiful and the animals wandering around are great photo opportunities!

Review 31:The air conditioner worked well but was a bit noisy. The taste of food of Italian restaurant was disappointing, however Thai restaurant was perfect and has a nice view of the beach

Review 32:Excellent location out of the noisy parts but not far from them and it's close to the beach. Also the breakfast was excellent with a lot of options to choose. Staff were really friendly and helpful

Review 33:The worst hotel I've evet stayed, 5star hotel but no doctor no nurse no help, we asked for help they said we can call a taxi?!? No administrators around, poor breakfast, even gardens lights was off during our stay

Review 34:I thought its more close to the town but it was 1.5-2 km walk to the main street with restaurants and shops. The kids pool had no shade, the kids club doesn’t have almost any games\crayons etc.

Review 35:Right accross from the beach Very big hotel and big rooms Nice garden

Review 36:can't think of something

Review 37:seriously everything :lovely swming pools, lovely gardens, beautiful room, professional staff, great view from the balcony, great breakfast

Review 38:Bed very hard, pillows were musty smelling. Dated decor etc. Breakfast average for 5* hotel. Staff didn't go out of their way to make your stay better. There was no local taxi option to get transport when we came to leave, only hotel transport which was very expensive. They wouldn't call or give us a number for a cab company so we had to walk out of the hotel (quite far) to the road to search for a taxi.

Review 39:Beautiful gardens and good pools. Good location, close to amenities but still fairly peaceful.

Review 40:We paid around 12,500bht for a superior room ( 4 nights ) ; the location of the superior rooms is at one corner of the hotel ( felt unsafe ) . The beds were not comfortable at all, their mattress wasnt good quality & was hard to sleep on. The superior rooms are very basic, with old furniture and not worth paying for the amount we paid. Id say that it was not value for money at all.

Review 41:Just the location.

Review 42:Our room was very humid. The staff seemed always a bit confused and many of them did not speak good English.

Review 43:Parc and swimming pools were very beautiful, the room was spacious and nice

Review 44:-One thing that the management has to seariously look into is its breakfast. It had variety but nothing tasted good. Every after informing the staff, the soup continued to be cold for 4 days we stayed. The omelette, Egg fry, toast all were already prepared and left cold. No fresh juices. Poor quality jams and pantry. It's such a big let down for a very nice resort. - The path way around the pools are very poorly lit at night and ppl may accidentally stamp any insects or worms while walking

Review 45:- Truly sets a benchmark for a resort that blends with nature with lots of trees, flowers , birds and animals. - Very hospitable nature of staff. Special thanks to Mr. Tell who was so friendly. On the day we arrived tired Phuket , we were little disappointed about heavy rain and we were bit tired but the momemt Tell came and gave a very warm welcome, arranged early check in and assured a good stay we all came back to happy mood. - Sparking rooms with sufficient space for family to move around which gives feeling home away from home

Review 46:Toiletries are too fragile and you get charged if broken. Reception has limited English speaking.

Review 47:Exceptional ambience...like the orchid garden and rabbits / parrots. It would be nice if you have swings for children.

Review 48:My room is marked as ocean view room, but actually it's very difficult to watch the sea. Only from a small corner at balcony can watch the sea.

Review 49:Located in Kata, near to the sea. Very beautiful hotel, beautiful Thai style decoration, nice breakfast, nice staff.

Review 50:The resort is quite rundown and needs an overall update. The pool near our room had many tiles missing and the pool furniture in the resort is very old with not many umbrellas, and a few of the umbrellas that are there don't work. There was no hot water and lots of ants in the bathroom and some in the bed.

Review 51:The resort is in a great location right across the road from the beach and only a short walk to shops and restaurants.

Review 52:Breakfast could have been better. Some areas of the hotel are looking a bit shabby.

Review 53:Good location, easy to get a tuk-tuk at the bottom hotel exit to get out and about. Pools were great, gardens beautiful.

Review 54:Nothing, really.

Review 55:We spent 5 days at the hotel, my sister, my 80 year old mother and myself. We thoroughly enjoyed the hotel and what it has to offer. The location is absolutely fantastic -- by the ocean and a close to a beach, also close to various shopping and transport amenities, yet without being crowded or noisy. The staff were very courteous and helpful. Our room, on the 4th floor, had a wonderful view of two pools and the ocean. The breakfast was great -- substantial, tasty, and with a wide variety of options. I certainly hope to stay at this hotel again.

Review 56:We cannot fault Thavorn Palm Beach Resort. The staff were friendly and the services were to a luxurious standard. We got a lot of use out of their tour desk, although it is worth asking around for prices before booking with the hotel. The breakfast was fantastic definitely recommended. Even for a young couple, the location was perfect, and we had a truly five star experience.

Review 57:Some minor things to note: - No soap, toothpaste/toothbrush in bathroom - No fruit variety at breakfast (only pineapple, watermelon, papaya) - After sunset it gets too dark in hotel gardens (not much light on the territory). Lizards and frogs are roaming there at night. - Expensive restaurants - Could hear noise from the halls at night when some people were too loud when returning to their rooms.

Review 58:Loved the hotel! - Free Wi-Fi in rooms - Very close to Karon beach, possible to walk to Kata beach as well (25-30 mins). - Big territory of the hotel, amazing trees, plants, animals (rabbits, tortoise, parrots, roosters, doves). Very beautiful. - Three (that's how many we counted) big swimming pools, clean, not crowded (off-season). - Can get vouchers for not cleaning room (but read T&C carefully) to use in hotel facilities. - Beautiful rooms, great view from balcony (could see the sea and pool). Clean. Got adjoining rooms. - Friendly staff We enjoyed our stay. What a lovely place.

Review 59:The first room we had the bed was a big problem but they had no issue with me changing rooms. The other problem for me is now the government has taken beach chairs, umbrellas and service off the beach. This will make me stop going to Phuket.

Review 60:I love the garden and location

Review 61:The beds were a bit hard and my friend had a few problems with air con and tv not working in their room but he got upgraded straight away so no negatives really ... This resort is definitely for relaxing away from the scene ... if your after party party then you might want to stay closer to Patong Beach .

Review 62:This Hotel is lovely . I enjoyed so much about it that i dont know where to begin .. The hotel is set in Karon beach ( which is beautiful and right accross the road ) and surrounded by a beautiful garden with pet rabbits and birds and tortises roaming the grounds .. theres many clean pools to choose from and a great swim up bar ( which i spent alot of time at ) .. The staff are really friendly and Racha ( at the travel desk ) helped us immensely.. she went well out of her way to help us find tours and accommodations when we moved on .. The resort is away from the craziness of town but a short taxi ride and your there amongst it .. there's plenty of great restaurants in and around Karon beach and the sea water quality there is nicer than Patong Beach ( i think ) .. I really enjoyed my stay here and would not hesitate to stay again ..

Review 63:No bad experiences - staff, location, property wonderful - just a very small couple of areas are starting to show the need for maintenance - we hope they keep on top of it as this is a magic place to stay and unwind.

Review 64:The extensive tropical garden setting with four adult pools makes this a perfect oasis amongst the touristy beach town of Karon. Staff are lovely and rooms airy and roomy.

Review 65:The restaurants are a bit pricey.

Review 66:The resort is perfect. Staff are extremely helpful and nice and the facilities are very good. There are several pools and 3 restaurants in-loco and it is just in front of the beach. It was ideal to travel with a baby. It is also great to see how the merge nature into the architecture.

Review 67:This was not the hotels minibus but our only disappointment was the tour minibus we travelled to Donsak for trip to Koh Samui was not airconditioned and luggage on seat beside passengers not safe.

Review 68:Courteous and helpful staff,Beautful garden setting, large pools, handy location to both Patong and Kata beaches,Karon village shopping great, beautiful ocean beach across the road.Lovely large room.Defintely stay again.

Review 69:The bed was a little hard but this was so minor it's barely worth mentioning.

Review 70:Beautiful clean resort set in immaculate gardens. Breakfast top quality. Staff were excellent, very polite and helpful. Right on the beach and within easy walking distance of bars/restaurants

Review 73:A few mosquitos around, but I don't think they spray with pesticides, like other resorts, but try natural and environmentally friendly control.

Review 74:Five swimming pools to choose from, close to Karon Beach and spectacular gardens.

Review 75:Minor point but check-out was disorganised and took longer than it should have. Perhaps it was a trainee helping us, but it all looked overly complicated given it's a hotel that does this daily.

Review 76:Very helpful staff, breakfast was extensive and quality, location is perfect right across from long clean white beach. 4 pools to choose from and beautifully kept gardens. Looked forward to arriving at this hotel because of the lovely gardens and animals - ancient turtles, rabbits, birds, bonsias that are 300 years old and unique array of orchids - but came away even more impressed with the hotels' sustainability ethos. Note: We were there for New Years which was very lucky - like being at the awesome Sydney fireworks but much closer as they were overhead. Outstanding display.

Review 77:There is the occasional smell from stagnant water in the drain

Review 78:The location is excellent, across the road from beautiful Karon Beach, quieter than Patong but still lots of shopping and great restaurants an easy walk away.

Review 79:Overall a disappointing experience. A number of basic things let this hotel down and there are better options around Karon beach for a similar price. The hotel still uses old fashioned keys to access the room, the breakfast is dreadful, it's very, very noisy (they have cockerel on site!! And you have to slam the doors in order to shut them, not to mention the air con boxes). All in all a very disappointing experience, I certainly wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Review 80:The hotel is in a good location, has lovely grounds and the staff are very friendly.

Review 81:Restaurants within the hotel were far too highly priced. We ate at Mexican on our first night, which we loved, but at over double the price of restaurants up the road, we never returned. The lobby bar never seemed to be open and when asked where we could get a drink, were directed to the Mexican restaurant. Such as shame, as the lobby bar and the sunset lounge are an amazing setting for an evening cocktail or two!

Review 82:Location excellent with plenty of restaurants and shopping within walking distance. Being with a family did not require to be near bars. Beach across the road was also a plus. The gardens of course were beautiful and the grounds and pools very well kept.

Review 83:The chambermaid was oblivious - from time to time she could take out dirty towels and forget to put clean ones. So, have had to find her and take clean towels.

Review 84:Personal very friendly and helpfull. Breakfast was with wide range of dishes - local, chinese, european. Territory of the hotel is huge, clean and has lots of garderns with exotic and rare plants. You can meet everywhere and feed rabits, birds, chickens, fish.

Review 85:The bed was quite hard and there was no available pc for the costumers (i wanted to transfer my photos from my camera to my external hard drive but i couldn't do it in the hotel).

Review 86:Amazing gardens and pools(much better than in the photos), very rich breakfast, helpful and polite staff.

Review 87:- beach very dirty with lot of glass bottles on it - breakfast stop at 10am - nobody to pick up your suitcases - hotel accepting tour operator coming for 1 night arriving very late (midnight) and leaving very early. Resulting in lot noises waking up kids.

Review 88:-staff friendly - rooms big - great swimming pools, great garden

Review 89:The Thavorn Palm Beach Resort is a large hotel but with a cosy and luxury feeling. The thaï restaurant is a treat. The staff and especially the general manager are very comprehensive and arranging. Since we found out the day of arrival that there were some relatively noisy works going on at the pool bar, witch didn't allow us to rest quietly next to the pool, I spoke to the GM about it and he very kindly offered us a complimentary upgrade for the rest of our holidays in an another excellent Thavorn hotel located south of Kamala Beach: The Thavorn Beach Village. It was a perfect and quiet place to have a peaceful rest during our holidays and we really appreciated the hotel transfer and upgrade that was offered to us.

Review 90:Nothing.

Review 91:We enjoyed our stay at thavorn very much. The hotel has a beautiful lobby, amazing gardens and pools and spacious and comfortable rooms. The location of the hotel is great. It has a very nice beach close to it.

Review 92:Great beachfront location but a bit away from the main karon town area. Food excellent. Room was beautiful but only issue was that the our bed, while very large was quite hard and uncomfortable. Staff very friendly and polite. Restaurants not all open til 11pm as advertised when weather bad but food that we did have in the main restaurant was lovely. Gardens lovely and beautifully kept.

Review 93:Surrounded by lush tropical gardens, and with the sea just across the road, Thavorn Palm Tree Resort was a divinely relaxing and comfortable experience. Greeted at the door upon arrival and served tea, massages at the pool side, friendly and helpful staff, well maintained pools and gardens, spectacular food, service by the pool table, divine cocktails. and the frogs croaking at night all made for a peaceful rest - and I actually did sleep well at night! Loved it here! We will definitely be coming back!

Review 94:Need softer pillows. Lobby bar could have been better promoted. Lack of umbrellas around pool areas other than main pool area. Why is Mexican and Thai restaurants not better frequented? - promotion out in street maybe ? No umbrella facility on beach or nearby drinks/ snack area.

Review 95:Friendliness of staff. Quick response to problems. Fabulous grounds and wild life. No rush to get sunBed. Good all round aosphere.

Review 96:A treat on our last night in Thailand this hotel is pure luxury. Deluxe rooms are amazing for the price, spotlessly clean with great facilites including a mosquito repellent plug! Pools and gardens are fantastic and well maintained. Location just in front of the beach the hotel is about a 15 min walk to the main area of Karon Beach with bars and restaurants.

Review 97:- For really lazy people who do not like to walk, you might want to note that the resort's pretty large (It has, I think, 3 blocks) so you might have to walk quite a bit to reach one of the 5 entrances/exits. - Similar to the above point, there are dining options + yummy street food + massage parlours around the resort, but you need to walk a little (perhaps 10 minutes?). Alternatively, there are restaurants in the resort itself (it's much more pricey here of course) and even a massage service by the pool. - We went in the low season so it was rather quiet (which I liked) but this also means that not all shops/restaurants were open. Also, they generally close pretty early (at least in the Karon area). If you're in areas like Patong, this might not be an issue! - Note that like most properties, you have to pay a refundable security deposit (think we paid 3000 THB)

Review 98:- Location: Just a 3-minute walk from the beach (across the road) - Beautiful gardens and room - Free WiFi in-room and in lobby - 5 swimming pools (so you can choose one to your taste) - Staff were generally friendly, and there was a particular gentleman at the front desk (forgot to take down his name ;() was really helpful when we asked for directions etc - We got back to our room one evening, and found that our beds had been remade and there was a surprise bouquet of flowers handpicked right from the resort's gardens + a note signed off by the Chief Gardener! ;) - Resident rabbits and roosters

Review 99:Room facilities need be updated.

Review 100:Very nice garden. Perfect position, close to beach and market. Many many swimming pool, and kid pool.

Review 104:comfort of room

Review 105:All really superb....thankx alot booking.com

Review 106:staff very friendly and helpful, gorgeous location, excellent breakfast ,beautiful gardens ,large and comfortable rooms

Review 107:Not on the beach (you have to cross the road), Karon beach is dirty (recommend a longboat to an outlying island)

Review 108:Very clean, good facilities
