Reviews for Westgate Historic Williamsburg Resort

Review 1:We stayed here for my 30th birthday with a group of friends in a 2 bedroom suite. The room was beautiful and spotless, everyone had their own space. The beds were so comfy and the master bathroom was gorgeous. This hotel is in prime location and we didn't want to leave!

Review 2:Nothing very nice place.

Review 3:Staff was very nice, offered free wifi since our reservation was a bit messed up, rooms very clean and nice. Kids loved the pool.

Review 4:Lack of free (or even affordable) WiFi in this day and age is disappointing, reception on flat screen TVs (did not seem like HD) and channel selections was sub bar

Review 5:Size of room is great, kitchen is nice for families and separate bed room is a real plus.

Review 6:Nothing like the pictures! I was very discouraged when I noticed our room had tile flooring, not carpeting like the pictures. And it wasn't nice tile, but the kind you would find in an old unfinished basement or locker room. Plus, the grout was a real dark grey, almost black, and just made the place feel less clean than it might have been. I remember registering for a queen size bed, or at least that's the impression I got from the picture of the Studio Villa I booked, and instead we got two full sized beds. And again, didn't look half as clean or updated as the pictures might suggest. For about $70 a night on 4th of July weekend, we got what we paid for I guess.

Review 7:The kitchenette is well stocked. Everything you could possibly need to cook; pots, pans, knives, utensils, you name it! When I checked in the concierge followed me to the room to make sure everything was ok, and talked a mile a minute about the surrounding attractions and restaurants. Constantly saying "that's where the locals go". Now come to think of it, she was probably trying to distract me or overwhelm me with information so I didn't notice the room so much. It worked. But still she was very nice.

Review 8:Was met immediately by a staff person who went to our room with us under the pretense of "checking" on the room. Once there we realized she was trying to sign us up for a 90 minute seminar after breakfast the next morning to hook us on signing up for time share. Also, had to pay $10 per day per device for internet. At the price the motel costs, it should have been included!

Review 9:Great location, clean room.

Review 10:Cleaning staff left our room door open when we were not at hotel. We retuned to our room and found the door propped open. We stayed in our room and waited 2 hours before calling the front desk as the cleaning person did not return. Front desk or manager offered no explanation. Good thing we put our valuables in the safe while we were gone. Also this is a time share resort. A lot of sales activity that was annoying at the pool. We will not be returning.

Review 11:Room was nice with full kitchen.

Review 12:There were plenty of pillows but were either too hard or too soft. The mattress was hard and gave me a back ache. There is no housekeeping other than someone coming by and asking what you need. You have to gather your own garbage and used towels and put them outside. Wifi is $10 a day and the cell reception is nil. There is no recliner to sit on, just two tall wooden stools that are uncomfortable. The a/c was a joke. We kept lowering until we hit 60 and it was still too warm, had to sleep without sheets. There was a dishwasher that was broken as well. Other than convenient location and friendly staff, it was no good. Will not be back

Review 13:The staff was nice and there was a full kitchen. Also, very close to attractions and restaurants.

Review 14:on our 4th day, had to ask for clean towels and soap. hardly anything worked in the game room. they were the ONLY problems!

Review 15:staff was friendly, great value for the price. would recommend staying here to family and friends. definitely would stay here again.

Review 16:Requested early check-in between noon and 1:00 and received an email saying it was accepted. Arrived at hotel and was told just because it was requested didn't mean they would be able to do it. Asked if I could be notified when room was ready. Received notice at 3:45. Desk staff was not friendly and greeter at door was rude. I understand they cannot accommodate everyone and I really am not hard to please, but the rudeness did not give me a good impression of the resort right away. (Afternoon desk clerk was much more friendly.) Resort was in very busy area.

Review 17:Rooms were nice and beautifully decorated. Pool was very nice. Close to Colonial Williamsburg.

Review 18:The dryer was broken :(

Review 19:Pool was awesome. Plenty of amenities. excellent fitness room and arcade. Colonial Williamsburg very close. Washer and dryer in room!

Review 20:my only complaint is that the washer and dryer didn't work well

Review 21:we enjoyed the pool the smiles on everyone's face and how clean it was and help quicken accessible to hotel with everything

Review 22:We stayed four days in beastly heat and the air conditioner did very little cooling. We complained several times but they didn't get it to do adequate cooling until late in the last day. The a/c also squealed; we had to buy earplugs to wear at night so we could sleep.

Review 23:Good location; plenty of parking; OK curb appeal; friendly staff but ineffective maintenance; OK gym; nice kitchen and shower

Review 24:We asked for sleeping for four. We arrived and only had enough for three. At bedtime discovered single sleeper broke. Two people had to sleep on the floor. Asked for alternative, none.

Review 25:Staff was very friendly, but not able to help us. Manager a partial refund.

Review 26:They didn't have our reservation from Booking.com when we checked in and the room (which was extremely small) had a double bed and sofa bed that was a twin; our son who is a Jr in High School and 6'2" couldn't fit on the sofa bed (we asked for 2 beds but they couldn't accommodate). The sofa bed springs were broken and mattress was dirty and bowed in the middle. The TV remote didn't work and when I went to take a shower, there wasn't any hot water-needless to say, our time there was very brief and we will not be going back or possibly making a reservation through booking.com.

Review 27:We liked the location

Review 28:I do not like that their check out is at 10:00am! We started getting knocks on the door from house keeping at 10:10, actually had one person in housekeeping let herself into our room without knocking at 10:15 after my husband told her he was going down to check out! We left our room at 10:30, you would have thought it was noon the way the staff acted. We have asked for a late check out before and they are very hesitant on that point.

Review 29:Like the location, cleanliness and accommodations.

Review 30:The room was tiny and cramped. We had no hot water in the morning. We had it later in the day, though.

Review 31:The location was great. It is right in the middle of all the Williamsburg attractions

Review 32:Be sure you understand you are booking a room in a motel. If there are amenities, you won't see them because you are only going between your car and room. Our room was freezing and it took literally 20 minutes for water to heat up enough to even get in the shower. Room is very small and cramped -- kitchenette took up a lot of space.

Review 33:no restaurant on premises

Review 34:having a separate apartment with kitchen facilities, closeness to many restaurants and services, very cordial staff. had a lovely pool but we were too busy sightseeing to use.

Review 35:We liked everything!! We had more fun in the three days that we were there than we did in June when we spent a week at the beach! The room was absolutely gorgeous! It was beyond what I was expecting. Most of the times the pictures on the internet are not current but this time it was. We were not disappointed at all and are looking forward to returning.

Review 36:We had to go 15 away at midnight to a hotel that was not a resort. Because they over booked and no rooms available even though I had a reservation.... more stress than anyone who just wanted to have a nice relaxing family vacation. .. very let down and we are west gate members go figure...

Review 37:No breakfast offered on site. Limited fitness area

Review 38:We found the location to be great. Conveniently located to all attractions... The hotel was clean and has been recently upgraded. We stayed in a junior suite, just perfect for a couple. Would stay again!

Review 39:a room with a view would have been nice but had no effect on our stay we will be returning

Review 40:updated: with top-of-the-line materials conveniently located and extremely comfortable

Review 41:Very pushy with time share then when they seen I wasn't interested it seemed less courteous.

Review 42:Very covenant

Review 43:Nothing

Review 44:Everything

Review 45:The pool stayed open late. Kids loved that they could get in pool after coming from other activities.

Review 46:Great room/appartment

Review 47:Good family pool. Good location.

Review 48:Room too small

Review 49:Location

Review 50:Attempt to sell property as part of so-called welcome package

Review 51:Swimming pool

Review 52:Pay for wifi. Breakfast

Review 53:Pool and rooms.

Review 54:Great place to stay! Clean, wonderful staff.

Review 55:I loved that they upgraded me at same rate I paid!

Review 56:Staff,room services

Review 57:Housekeeping knocking on the door early in the morning

Review 58:A/C was not working and dryer was not working properly

Review 59:Location, room amenities, spa tub

Review 60:Had to pay for wi-fi

Review 61:Toilet broke No hot water for half a day Awkward kitchen layout Beds/couch not very comfortable

Review 62:Didn't like the pillows!

Review 63:The room was clean and very comfortable! The staff was excellent!

Review 64:Everything.

Review 65:Nothing at all.

Review 66:THERE WERE NO NEGATIVES

Review 67:EVERYTHING

Review 68:No indoor pool.

Review 69:Fireplace, big kingsize bed, spa tub, and spacious suite.

Review 70:The history and character of this property really stood out to us, as well as the staff. Very pleased with our decision to stay here!

Review 71:i did not like he smell the room had. it was if there were insense that have been burnt. i also did not like not having privacy for tub and shower

Review 72:The rooms were very spacious and clean. The hotel was conveniently located and within walking distance to the stadium and town.

Review 73:Decor is a bit stuffy

Review 74:Location, kitchen, bathroom

Review 75:Nothing.

Review 76:The resort was very clean, close to great restaurants and had plenty of space for all 7 of us, especially with a baby just learning to walk.

Review 77:I didn't have my own personal fire dancer

Review 78:The comfortable beds were amazing.

Review 79:Location Front desk personnel, Jodi and Tony were very helpful Pool open late Cleanliness Space

Review 80:The hospitality (free ice cream and drinks) and the pool were great. Rooms comfortable and clean.

Review 81:The rooms were super clean and very comfortable to stay in! The property was great and the staff was just wonderful!

Review 82:No free WiFi Rooms a bit noisy Bed is too small

Review 83:Nice pool Great service Location is good

Review 84:Even though each couple had their own bedroom, I didn't like the fact that the one bathroom was off the hall rather than ensuite. Also, lack of additional rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom was a problem. Although if I had called housekeeping when I noticed it, I'm sure the problem would been resolved quickly.

Review 85:we were 2 couples travelling together. it was nice to have our separate bedrooms and bathrooms. Having a nice living room to relax and have cocktails before going out to dinner was a plus.

Review 86:Wifi should be included.

Review 87:Location. Quality of design and fitments of the self-catering flat. The huge comfortable bed. The quiet. The swimming pool. Grocery store nearby. Plenty of interesting places to visit.

Review 88:I enjoyed the ability to relax in a quiet setting. I had plan to do some site seeing, but the weather was cooler than expected. As a result, the facility allowed me to relax, cook, and catch up on a few personal tasks that I had put off in the past.

Review 89:My request for a quiet location on a top floor was ignored. We were on the first floor near a very active, noisy entrance. Also, the water temperature in the shower was hazardess--one moment scalding, the next freezing.

Review 90:The location was good for us. Having a "villa" is excellent for a longer stay. (we were there for 4 nights).

Review 91:Staff was friendly but often clustered behind the desk..no one dressed or groomed professionally, attitudes sloppy. Rooms were needing a deep clean, king bed eats up the room. Our room was cold despite using heat...we were in a corner suite but I have to wonder if the building has insulation.

Review 92:I paid $189 for a "one bedroom suite." To me, a suite is a bedroom and a separate living space. This was the equivalent of a very small hotel room. It was the B side of an A/B timeshare unit. It was so small that when the pullout love seat was pulled out, your way into the bathroom was blocked! You had to crawl over the end of the sofa bed! The mattress on said sofa bed was disgusting! It was stained and dirty beyond anything I've ever seen before. It was nauseating! Then, the fitted sheet for it didn't even come close to fitting it. We ended up using a spare blanket to put over the mattress. The walls were so thin that you could hear the TV and the voices next door very clearly. We had requested an early check in and late check out through booking.com, but the hotel never responded. We could not get the free wifi to work. We were not at all happy with this facility.

Review 93:Location was good. Very close to Colonial Williamsburg and other places of interest in the area. It appeared to be newly painted. Staff was friendly.

Review 94:If there was any vending area, we did not find it. Power was out from430pm until 500am from storm, very hot and unable to open windows.Staff called rooms to make sure everyone was safe, but the hotel didnot have adequate back up plans for lighting, etc. Storm was of courseno fault of hotel...it happens...but only a few solar lights workedhere and there...a real liability. We had to use our cell phones asflashlight to get to the lobby to obtain a 'real' flashlight. No complimentary breakfast...bathroom was huge, bedroomcramped...expected more for the $.

Review 95:Friendly staff, arcade for kids, location

Review 96:Geez, where do we start? When we booked the hotel we wrote in the "Special Request" box that we'd like to have a 12pm checkout rather than 10am because we'd be running the race. We also wrote that we'd be bringing our small, quiet dog. When we arrived, they thought we were arriving late and our room wasn't ready so they gave us a smaller room that was ready (they failed to mention it was smaller). When we asked about the late checkout, it seemed like a huge ordeal and they would only allow us to check out at 11 at the latest. They also had no record of us bringing our dog and originally told us that we were only allowed to being service dogs. We showed them our booking confirmation and she said she would allow it and charged us $80 for the pet. That's pretty steep...it's 4 times the amount we pay for our dog's monthly rent! The room itself was extremely small and it is adjoined to a suite. You can hear everything through the walls/doors--including screaming children in the room across the hall and down at the pool. The bathroom door would not stay open and the shower squealed while it was running. The bed was way too soft and you can feel the springs through the mattress, it's also a full size bed rather than a queen which we were expecting. The price for all of this was too expensive for what we got. We will not be staying here again.

Review 97:We were in town for the Run for The Dream Half Marathon, so the hotel was only a mile away from the start/finish area.

Review 98:We were shocked by the small size of our room. It was listed as a queensuite and was actually smaller than an inside cabin on a cruise shop! The mattress on our bed was bad and my husband ended up on the pulloutloveseat. The next day we couldn't put it together and left in forthe staff. When we returned, it was just left the way we had it but witheverything thrown on top of it. We were surprised! In addition, ourshampoo bottle was half used. I threw it away but was not left areplacement. When I complained the first evening, I was told it wasbooked on BookIt and that was the room size. I felt it was not a goodvalue for price and will not stay there again .

Review 99:It has curb appeal and looks inviting as a place to stay and relax.

Review 100:I did not like how my completecredit card number was imprinted on the back of a receipt they keep on file. Who knows where in the world that thing will end up!

Review 101:Hotel was very nice and remarkably clean!

Review 102:Beautiful suites with excellent kitchen and full jacuzzi bath. Walkable to W&M. Much cheaper than other hotels on Richmond Road, but far better rooms. Amazing value.

Review 103:The bathroom spa tub opened directly into the bedroom making sharing more challenging. Fortunately the commode was in a separate room. There were no sheets for the fold-out bed; however, the front desk supplied the sheets as soon as requested.

Review 104:As I was traveling with my adult son, I selected this hotel as it afforded two sleeping areas. The decor and electric fireplace was in keeping with the Colonial ambience of the area.

Review 105:Elevator needs to be fixed. The button on the outside sticks and renders it inoperative. The evacuation route needs to be on the back of the door to assist in an emergency

Review 106:Staff was very nice abd helpful

Review 107:It was great clean ,neat had everything u need washer /dryer dishwasher ,full size frig and stove and hot tub in our room fireplace made everything so cozy and homey had grills outside to cook on we would stay again also big swimming pool could'nt ask for anything better and we took our bikes that was great way to see downtown williamsburg and other places in the area

Review 108:Excellent stay. The facilities were clean and the suites were wellequipped. We did not use the pool or play area because it was cold butboth were also very clean. The granite, the full size fridge and thejacuzzi tub really made it a hotel we will go back too!

Review 109:not easy for loading and unloading luggage if you are in the main building. I did not like the concierge, i did not feel they were that good compared to other resorts.

Review 110:I enjoyed the hotel, staff, and location. We were upgraded to a suite and I was very grateful and enjoyed the facility. We had a bedroom plus a living room and small kitchen. The hotel was conviently located to resturants colonial park and many attractions. I would recommentd this hotel, we plan to go back this fall.

Review 111:Game room and size

Review 112:Location and staff very nice.

Review 113:No late checkout.

Review 114:The room was nice and clean.

Review 115:Seize of room, very poor bathroom,no service

Review 116:Having to leave!

Review 117:It was fantastic

Review 118:Spacious apartment, well equipped. Large complex but quiet. Good location close to shops, restaurants and exploring Historic Triangle.

Review 119:the space in the suite was amazing. I loved the fireplace and the jacuzzi bath in the bathroom. The kitchen was well equipped.

Review 120:Did not feel like I was staying in a hotel but a friend's home. It was clean and welcoming. A beautiful and well maintained facility.

Review 121:There were a lot of noisy guests in some of the other rooms in our vicinity.

Review 122:Outstanding room, great location, friendly staff, and reasonable price.

Review 123:All of it!
