Reviews for Towne Lyne Motel
Review 1:This was a sweet place. Cozy, quiet and very comfortable. It didn't have the "chain" smell or feel to it. I would like to have stayed longer!
Review 2:Nothing was bad!
Review 3:Loved the little river outside our door, the picnic table, the rocking chairs are great! Decor shows care and was individualized, unlike the big chains. Very pretty. Glad to have the fridge too.
Review 4:We enjoyed our stay at this very neat, clean and comfortable motel. Although road building works were taking place right outside, we were offered a room at the rear of the property away from the noise at night. The rooms are nicely furnished, the bed very comfortable and there are plenty of eateries near by. This was a great location for exploring the Maine coast.
Review 5:Rooms were clean and comfortable. It was really just a cozy, homey place to stay. It had a lot of nice touches (screened-in back deck with rocking chairs, benches overlooking river) which we would have enjoyed more, if the weather had been warmer.
Review 6:We've known this motel a long time. New the former owner, and this is the second time we have stayed there with the current owner. The motel is top notch. Each room is decorated differently, air cond. works well, individual heat controls in each room. Keurig coffee makers, fridge, micro. This trip there was massive construction right outside the driveways, no noise inside. There was work at night, and the lights were bright, but, no noise. Excellent choice of a place to stay.
Review 7:Nothing really - some utensils to use in the microwave would have been good and also more preparation space for food.
Review 8:Friendly welcome, spotlessly clean room. Lovely view of the river at the back. Close enough to walk to Ogunquit and Perkins Cove via the beach and Marginal Way
Review 9:Nice little porch in back of room with a view of a brook, comfortable bed, nice décor, Canadian rockers, bathroom nice with a hook on the door, place to put bath supplies, nice closet, Keurig coffee maker
Review 10:The road work was annoying but the motel had no control over that. We felt bad for them - having to deal with this. We are talking jack hammering in the middle of the night. We couldn't understand why they couldn't do that during the day.
Review 11:The clean rooms and beautiful grounds were very important to us. The owner was very accommodating. There was road work going on all night and it was next to impossible to sleep. We were moved to a room out back that was much quieter. Would definitely recommend and return.
Review 12:The street construction, but that's not your fault. No dislikes whatsoever!
Review 13:Everything! Towne Lyne has been our favorite place to stay in Maine for over ten years. The new owners do a wonderful job of continuing the quality we have grown accustomed to over the years. We give the highest recommendation!!
Review 14:We've stayed a number of times at Town Lyne. Great place! Quiet and friendly . . .They're an excvellent place to relax and be within proximity of a number of things.
Review 15:I cannot enter anything here. Perhaps a pool but that would change a lot and I'm not so sure that the gain would really be a gain
Review 16:All of the above. The look and feel of this property was like 'going back in time'. It was as if I were staying at one of the nicest motels I remember from my childhood travels with my parents. The grounds with the river and garden in the rear makes it like a private park. It is impossible to believe that you are so close to bust route 1. Such a far remove from the Motel Factories of today.
Review 17:Found the tv size small. The mattress was too firm for me. Road in front was under construction (big time)
Review 18:Room was a nice size w/refrig. & microwave.
Review 19:Not close enough to center of town to be able to walk.
Review 20:Comfort and cleanliness. Perfect for a 1 night stay en route to points farther north. Congenial staff.
Review 21:We liked the fact that the room was Exceptionally clean, roomy, and quiet. Also the little decorative touches were nice. Even with the construction we have no complaints.
Review 22:Ongoing construction on the highway and bridge in front of the motel, while not the fault of the owner, was disconcerting and annoying. Prospective travelers should be cautious until the major project is completed
Review 23:quality of the accommodation. Very clean. Owner very friendly and helpful
Review 24:Had trouble with the parking lot. Hard to maneuver a Tacomba truck with other vehicles parked. Parking lot far too small.
Review 25:The cleanliness of the room was suburb
Review 26:This is an exceptional place. The room was spotless and the staff was wonderful. The outdoor space was absolutely wonderful. A very short walk to get the trolley that will take you anywhere you could want to go.
Review 27:The lighting was too dim and we could not read in our rooms. I slipped in the shower two times , it could use one of those non stick rubber mats. Proximity of parking to our room was difficult for me to carry luggage. My daughter is recovering from surgery and can not carry. Room was hot at night even with air on.
Review 28:Excellent maintenance. Very nice people who worked here . BEST shower and BEST pillows! I felt safe. The decor is very nice. Good furniture and rugs and it is cozy like grannies house.
Review 29:The decor and furniture were dated. There was construction going on in front of the motel which made it very noisy. The noise did stop in the evening.
Review 30:The room was very large and came with a microwave, refrigerator and Keurig coffee machine. In the backyard were chaise lounges and a covered table and chairs for relaxing. The staff was very helpful and accommodating.
Review 31:The friendliness of the reception clerk (the owner!) and the cleanliness of our room made for a very pleasant overnight stay. We would go back there again!
Review 32:Near the trolley, great facilities for a smoker, comfortable room with good chairs to use, instead of sitting on bed. The grounds are awesome, along with the birdhouses.
Review 33:Didn't like being on first floor; said "river view" but we couldn't see anything from our room location.
Review 34:Gazebo and outdoor facilities really nice. We'd come back but would request 2nd floor.
Review 35:We loved how welcoming the staff made us feel and how well maintained it was inside and out. They weren't judgemental to the fact that we are a couple in our mid-twenties. They made sure we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. We will definitely be going back to Town Lyne Motel as well as referring others to stay here.
Review 36:The air conditioning unit and dehumidifier in the room was very noisy, and kept cycling on and off during the night and we found this to be disturbing, as it would make a loud thumping noise every time it cycled off.
Review 37:The rooms at the back are private and quiet....nice view, table, chairs and sitting area outside. The room was very clean, and the oversize shower is a plus.
Review 38:Nothing
Review 39:This was my wife and I 1st time staying here, and I must say it was by far a very pleasant stay at that.We loved the fact that it was quiet, well maintained, and the screened in back porch (room 4) was a awesome touch. The fact that there are several gas bbq grills on site allows guest to save a few dollars on not having to eat out each day. Also the location is perfect in that it's centrally located to allow quick access to the beach or down town shopping, without being in the busy loud areas where other motels are located. The staff was very attentive and polite, and the little chocolates left on the bed each day gave it a nice touch. The rooms were very clean and bed comfy. We wouldn't change a thing. We plan to visit the area again this summer, and you can sure bet we will be staying at the Town Lyne Motel..
Review 40:it all seems quite old, the chairs, the too soft bed, even the lamps, very old school, but our biggest beef is that the room has the nursing home/old people smell. For real, check out rm 17. And we really paid too much, no way we should have paid 200 dollars a night for that room. Won't go again next year because of price and smell
Review 41:Good location, friendly staff, back yard patio and back door opening on that, keurig machine, comfy chairs in front window.
Review 42:Nothing.
Review 43:The room was extremely clean and comfortable. They had a nice back porch where you could watch the river, the room had comfy rocking chairs and a flat screen tv with cable, it was close to the trolley route. The staff was extremely friendly and nice.
Review 44:Road construction July 2015 right outside. Machines crank up at 7 AM. So no sleeping in.
Review 45:Oldish style motel but impeccably kept. Friendly staff. Near the Ogunquit Trolley stop next door. Park your car--take the trolley for 2 bucks.
Review 46:My extended family would have loved it - but we have young grandchildren and would miss having a pool.
Review 47:The room was larger than most - the property was beautiful, quiet and the bed was comfortable - unusual for a motel.
Review 48:Construction outside (not Town Lyne fault) Everything else was great!
Review 49:Comfy Bed Great Glider Rockers Fast Wi-Fi and free long distance! Clean, Quiet
Review 50:The hotel room was very clean. The attention to detail was incredible. The little kitchenette was complete with everything that could be needed to prepare a meal.
Review 51:Only annoying thing was large trucks going by at all hours.
Review 52:We liked the general over all condition of the property and how well it is maintained. Very clean room as well.
Review 53:Bed was a little soft...other than that, it was a very pleasant stay. I would definitely come back.
Review 54:We were only in town for one night and everyone else required a two night stay. We appreciated the one night accommodation.
Review 55:Refrigerator hummed all night and food froze in little fridge. Also they have two dogs that when let out they barked. One of my pet peeves is a barking dog.
Review 56:Clean
Review 57:We were able to book our room an hour or so before we arrived without a problem. The owner even stayed at the front desk a little later than closing in order to accommodate our arrival. The place is surprisingly affordable for how comfy it is, the staff is super friendly, the grounds are beautiful, and it's in a great location. You won't regret booking here!
Review 58:Not a bad experience, but the bed was uncomfortable. My wife and I both woke up with stiff/sore backs.
Review 59:Overall we liked our stay. Chocolates on the pillows were a nice surprise!
Review 60:This motel is super clean. Nice size rooms. 2 comfortable glider chairs. Comfortable beds. Heating system efficient. Walking distance to the beach (through the pedestrian bridge). Nice and quiet neighborhood. Windows in the back and in the front. Good coffee in the room. Towels were new.
Review 61:Only thing was a little far from Portland , but that was on me...
Review 62:Room was clean , comfortable , nice area in back to relax with smoking if you want...
Review 63:Ogunquit is a really nice, typical Maine seaside resort. This is only a small motel with very friendly owners and an ideal place to stay with a couple of pubs/taverns within short walking distance
Review 64:Leaving Town Lyne Motel.
Review 65:Great curb appeal. Friendly staff. Charming rooms with back porches and stream views. Close to restaurants and town. Very reasonable rates. Lots of personal touches--owners really take an extra step. WiFi, micro-wave, refrigerator. Puts most other places to shame.
Review 66:Our room had a warm and pleasurable feel to it. It was spacious, comfortable and super clean. A screened in back porch overlooking a gazebo and seating alongside a stream provided us with a tranquil stay in Ogunquit. We will definitely return here and highly recommend this motel.
Review 67:A little out dated...not bad though. It was like I was staying at my grandma's :)
Review 68:Comfort! Clean! Location! Price! We've stayed at other places in this area...any time we come back, this will be our place to stay!
Review 69:A great value with large rooms, very clean, friendly and helpful staff regarding information on local restaurants and places to see. This is the style of motel I remember seeing along 2-lane highways before the Interstate Highway system was built and all the "big box" motels developed.
Review 70:Only one drawback for us....the tap water is highly chlorinated so we had to use bottled water for drinking.
Review 71:Room was very clean, beds were comfortable, easy access from Route 1, quiet, well-kept grounds, ample parking. Plenty of hot water in the shower, and towels were super soft. Two rockers in the room so you don't have to watch TV from the beds. Nice location between Wells and Ogunquit.
Review 72:Hearing someone stomping around above me at 8am each morning wasn't too keen, and whomever was chainsawing down a tree at 7am on a Saturday needs to rethink their schedule.
Review 73:Setting, staff and accommodations were top notch.
Review 74:there was nothing we didn't like.
Review 75:Loved the Bed and the bedding, it was like being at home, the towels also were not like hotel towels. The bathroom was immaculate, lots of hot water, great amenities. Love the glider Rockers, can watch TV from 2 locations! Great location. Good price. Great Great motel, loved it, will stay there again!
Review 76:Nice room, glider rockers, heater in the bathroom, large shower for 2 - very comfortable, clean and quiet accommodations. Easily accessible by trolley.
Review 77:Have been a guest many times in past. Never had a downstairs room..did not like it Too closed in. For the price..should have been upstairs. Prior owners were warm and welcoming. Present owner very nice; just not the same. would most likely stay elsewhere next time
Review 78:being in Ogunquit
Review 79:close traffic noise but not in room.
Review 80:The c leanliness, real glasses and real coffe cups, the landscaping, lots of help on tourist info. having a refrig, micro, coffe pot.
Review 81:The air freshener in room was horrible. Gave me a headache. What were they trying to mask? Had to remove it, didn't help. Air conditioner had to run to help in sleeping. Not sure I would go back because of this..
Review 82:Location was great. Near both Wells and Ogunquit. On trolley line and near some good eating places.
Review 83:Nothing..
Review 84:The staff was friendly.. The room was very clean and homey... the grounds were beautiful. . No complaints.. All good! I have been coming to the area for 25 years and have tried a variety of places.. This one has by far moved it's way right up towards the top of my list... :) on a side note.. I am a smoker... and it worried me when they mentioned no smoking anywhere but the smoking area... usually..This means.. an out of the way corner.... they have a little canopy set up right next to the little river out back.. A nice seating area... very considerate.. i was a very happy guest.
Review 85:The drive way is very narrow, and getting out of the north drive way can be challenging due to the traffic on Route 1.
Review 86:The room felt like home, I loved the glider chairs, comfortable bed, recently renovated, and very quite. The grounds are well kept and the view of the river is quite relaxing..
Review 87:The bed was not very comfortable. The wi-fi was nonexistent in our room(12) which was at the end of building. Had to go outside to use it.
Review 88:Well kept property. It was a little outside of the center of town, which I liked because it was crowded in town.
Review 89:nothing
Review 90:Love the gliders. The "back yard" was very relaxing. Just an overall great experience my first time in Maine. Staff was very helpful and the trolley was only 2 houses down. Very convenient.
Review 91:Failure to replenish cups and coffee in room. Rocking chairs which are seriously unbalanced and take up too much room. Lack of proper wardrobe. Barking dogs at reception area.
Review 92:Free wi if, cleanliness. Designated parking spot.
Review 93:We had to use our car to get around, to far away to walk to town & trolley was never around when we needed to go. Plus would get stuck in traffic on the way back to hotel.
Review 94:That is was clean & quiet for sleeping
Review 95:was in corner appt in back of building that didnt have a good wi-fi connection.
Review 96:the outside of place was very inviting. Chairs, flowers, view, creek, quiet staff was very nice. Was our 36th wedding anniversary and asked staff to surprise my wife by putting flowers and a card in our room. They did it for me. Very much felt like they cared about my stay
Review 97:The bed was a bit hard for me and the furniture outdated, but it worked. Would have liked a table to eat at; we ate on our beds for lack of anything better. The room was a little musty, but staff was dealing with that by having a dehumidifier in the room. I think the price was a little high, given that there was no continental breakfast included.
Review 98:I loved being on the river and so close to the ocean. The room was basic, well kept, and quiet. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The trolley into town stopped right next door, so transportation into the town center was great!
Review 99:Didn't like the first room. Down in back with a very small window. Felt like a basement. The staff immediately gave us another room in front. Excellent room location.
Review 100:Maybe the dehumidifier that ran so we just turned it off at night. We did need to turn the air conditioner off a couple times as it was cool outside.
Review 101:The great back yard overlooking the water of the Ogunquit River (more of a brook where I come from haha). It was so peaceful out there. Also the trolley being right down the street to catch to Ogunquit was great. I loved the shower that was in our room. You could fit your whole family in it...
Review 102:The room was also dark, even on a sunny day. The small foam pillows were awful.
Review 103:It is nicely located a mile from Ogunquit village center. Facing a forest behind the motel, the room (#9) was quiet, large, and spotless. The desk managers were very friendly and accommodating.
Review 104:The room and bathroom were a bit on the small side but the availability of outside gazebos in the yard meant we spent little time in the rooms except to sleep.
Review 105:The rooms were very clean with a country atmosophere. The yard areas were well groomed.
Review 106:Loved the staff and the facilities,it was quiet exteemely clean and comfortable. We were able to use the public trolleys easily and the chocolates on the pillows when they cleaned up room was a very nice touch....only problem was intermittent wifi service but staff reassured us it has it moments and they would reset it and keep up with it...great place to stay and we will surely be back
Review 107:tiny bath/shower only, no counter space for toiletries, mattress too flat and hard, pillows hard foam, our room was in basement part of motel, parking was in back of motel. Had to walk a distance with luggage to room. We are in our 80's.No table/chairs as pictured on web site.
Review 108:Clean, Quiet, nice TV. 2 comfortable rockers with stand in between. Housekeeping lady was very nice.
Review 109:Rooms are clean. The manicured lawn and flowers all around the property indicate it is well cared for. The sitting area in the back overlooking the river is a nice bonus.
Review 110:Immaculate rooms and grounds that very well set up and maintained. Staff very friendly and helpful. Easy access to trolley and to footbridge beach. Worth the stay!
Review 111:sparkling clean, beautiful, beautiful grounds, especially in back near the stream, lovely lawn furniture, very comfortable gliding rocking chairs in the room. Would not think of staying anywhere else on my next visit to Ogunquit!!!!!
Review 112:There was actually nothing to dislike about this spot...we had trouble with the air conditioner and they immediately transferred us to a nicer room.
Review 113:I loved the location...beautiful Maine setting in the back. Rooms weren't fancy...but that's what we 'd loved about it. It was an immaculate cozy Maine getaway. You could tell that the owners took pride in their establishment.
Review 114:everything---everybody
Review 115:Excellent hospitality from management and employee's. They made U feel right at home.
Review 116:Had everything we needed. Gave us a quiet room out back, because of construction going on out front on Rt. 1. Very considerate.
Review 117:Very helpful and friendly staff rooms are clean
Review 118:Comfort - chairs you can actually sit in and be comfortable while watching tv. Real cups and glasses. Cleanliness.
Review 119:The entire property was beautifully maintained. My room was very comfortable and spacious.
Review 120:Great mom and pop excellent value . Exceptionally CLEAN
