Reviews for University Plaza Waterfront Hotel
Review 1:My niece booled at the same day she paid $84 and i paid 104 coz she booked in website. There is no soap, shampoo and blow dryer in the roo.
Review 2:Its closer to my sister apartment , hotel is nice.
Review 3:Carpet looked stained/soiled. No breakfast included.
Review 4:The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Full size refrigerator in the room. Good security surveillance. Location close to I-5. Non-smoking hotel. Nice, helpful staff.
Review 5:The shower is not very functional. The door should slide so you don't get soaked everytime you turn on shower.
Review 6:Fantastic customer service! From the service at your restaurant to the people at front desk.
Review 7:I did not like the fact that my girlfriend paid in advance and later they charged my card anyways. The money was put back but still upsetting.
Review 8:It's a nice place
Review 9:The front desk computer system was slow. It took us more than 10 minutes for finishing the check in.
Review 10:The room has lots of storage spaces. Nice decoration, bed is very comfortable, has a big fridge in each room.
Review 11:Staff didn't have me reservation from booking.com was irritating but got figured out.
Review 12:Very luxurious, safe and comfy. Loved the bed, the room had a great view was quiet and spacious.
Review 13:I liked everything, all hskp stafg were very friendly. Front desk staff also friendly only one gentelmen working front desk is not a people person, very dry when answering questions. That is the only bad thing i could say...i had to check out of my room because it was booked and check back in the next day. When i checked in the chair was missing and alarm clock didnt work. Other then that things were great.
Review 14:Outside pool area...with pool table ping pong...its a very relaxing setting
Review 15:The room lacked the basic hotel room amenities such as travel size shampoo, conditioner, tooth brush. Also trash can should be equipped in the bathroom. Or is it a lack of housekeeping supervision?
Review 16:Clean, casual enough but still with some class
Review 17:the staff did not appear to be interested, - I felt like I was in a cashier line. When I told them we had booked for the pool and was very disappointed it was closed they didn't acknowledge or respond. The café/restaurant staff were the same.
Review 18:The hotel itself is fine, we booked for the pool, and they closed it that day to clean as per the front staff they were busy ? The barman was attentive and courteous when I ordered our one drink.
Review 19:This past weekend, there were not enough staff to accommodate a full hotel. I was there for 2 nights and I asked for towels three times and didn't get them. The HBO was not working and lucky to get any channels. I had to call IT desk to get my WIFI hooked up.
Review 20:The comfortable beds and the pool. The management did give us free breakfast passes for the lack of the HBO
Review 21:The man at check-in was somewhat confused. Took a very long time and at the wend we got the keys to a room that was already occupied.
Review 22:Excellent low cost facility within easy driving distance of San Francisco.
Review 23:I loved the rooms. They were big enough for young children without them getting in the way. The bed was the most comfie bed I ever slept in! Room service was quick. Food was good and reasonably priced.
Review 24:Food at the restaurant was pretty weak.
Review 25:Rooms were big, comfortable and clean. Thought the property was very well done - the outdoor furniture was very nice
Review 26:I didn't like the parking area. Needs expansion. I also didn't like one parking pass per room. It is difficult when traveling with other people who have their own cars
Review 27:Rooms were spacious and plenty of storage. Friendly and helpful staff. Great service at the bar.
Review 28:hard surfaces looked like they hadn't been cleaned. (Bathroom counter. Shelves. Floor seemed a little sticky.) Need towel racks in bathroom.
Review 29:unique property. nice ambiance in room.
Review 30:Arrived in evening and staff at check in were new hire so took longer and lacked the eye and verbal communication. Just think a more personable check in person would benefit your hotel. He was nice but once again a new person who lacked the experience of front desk check in.
Review 31:Very pleasant stay maids were amazing!
Review 32:Terrible neighborhood. Who knew Dyockton was so depressed!?! Loads of transients loitering EVERYWHERE. When I asked the staff where a safe area to go jogging was no one could give me a clear answer....there is a short (30 min) walkway around a park that goes to the marina... Otherwise be prepare for a neighborhood where all the houses are in disrepair and come equipped w/ video surveillance and bars on windows.
Review 33:Very comfortable and clean room. Security on premises kept team of little leaguers staying on property from disrupting people relaxing.
Review 34:The neighborhood was heavily patrolled by police and there was obviously a high homeless population surrounding the hotel.
Review 35:Beautiful hotel, decent location as in proximity to freeway. Movie theater and fast food chains close by.
Review 36:We were on the 4th floor and we could here noise from the lounge patrons until 1 am. At one point security had to break up a fight in the early morning hours. There were also fireworks from the ball park around 11:00 pm. Rooms were adequate but carpets needed to be cleaned
Review 37:Loved the courtyard with outdoor activities. We had a very nice evening playing pool and ping pong.
Review 38:The staff at the front desk - didn't smile; didn't know how to problem solve in a way that puts the customer first. For example, my key card wasn't working on the pool door. I go to the front desk and they say that the door has problems. She gives me a new key, I go out to the pool, it still doesn't work. I go back to the front desk, she calls to have someone open the gate for me. That was a lot of trips to the front desk in my flip flops and swimsuit!
Review 39:The outdoor area is beautiful.
Review 40:Overall a great first Stockton experience.
Review 41:The staff was friendly and the restaurant was really good with friendly service as well. Clean and great view into courtyard area.
Review 42:it's near a homeless park. they didn't bother us so it's not dangerous but they make the surroundings dirty with trash
Review 43:pool, ping pong, pool tables for kids, nice staff, nice location to downtown and riverfront
Review 44:Glass bathroom door. No mirror with seat in room, no tub, tv very limited and no news but Fox. Only one tiny bar of soap. Parking was difficult. Limited and across the street.
Review 45:First rooms fridge and freezer didnt work. 2nd room they moved us to the tv remote was dead. So that was annoying. But overall. Nice hotel and we would stay there again.
Review 46:Clean hotel. Friendly staff. Modern/industrial.
Review 47:I liked the craftsmanship of the hotel. It's well built and classy and the courtyard leaves many options for in-house entertainment with lots of seating and the pool / spa and pool and ping pong tables for entertainment.
Review 48:Check in process was unprofessional. Rooms were pretty basic. Pool is small and crowded. Food at the resultant is overpriced and not good. The parking lot has a lot of broken glass on the ground from previous break ins. We also had a very loud family in the room next to us and we had to call at 11pm to ask for them to quiet down. I wouldn't stay here again...This place definitely isn't better than a courtyard by Marriott.
Review 49:Outdoor lounge was nice
Review 50:Everything was great from the front desk, room service and being asked if they could get us anything as we played ping pong. I would differently stay there every time
Review 51:Was given a room with "a view" that was over a courtyard on the river only to have a large musical event in this court that was so loud not even the TV could over power the noise! Sound even came through the bathroom exhaust fan! This concert lasted well past 10pm! Called room service 4 times before anyone responded, server was very helpful but the food was ok.
Review 52:Room was clean, however the bathroom floor was sticky with cleaner residue.
Review 53:Breakfast wasn't very good at all. Very few food choices and coffe tasted burnt!
Review 54:The room was spacious and clean. Bar area, pool area and green space area was amazing! Very relaxing place!
Review 55:Desk staff didn't know anything about local restaurants. Sundays they only have an overpriced breakfast buffet. We did manage to find the restaurant the kid at the desk mentioned, but he obviously didn't know the area well.
Review 56:The location and price were great - very short walk to arena and baseball stadium.
Review 57:the area was very dangerous. I was told NOT to walk outside alone because it was too dangerous. I walked one block to a store and felt frightened while out
Review 58:the hotel felt like a lovely resort hotel. Huge rooms, spotless clean
Review 59:Location around the hotel is a little shady - do not recommend walking alone.
Review 60:Very modern and good value for money. Rooms are comfortable and the hotel has a bar and nice outdoor terrace abutting the water.
Review 61:Would have liked to have been able to enjoy our own beverage in the courtyard but were warned that all beverages must be purchased from the restaurant and bar.
Review 62:Friendly check-in staff, convenient parking, spacious room with full size refrigerator. Bathroom was also spacious.
Review 63:The front desk actually messed up on my card swipes and maxed out my credit card... so I wasn't able to use my funds for the entire weekend and had to depend on others. This was a big of an inconvenience for me.
Review 64:How convenient it was to the Bob Hope Theatre. Everything was beautiful about this location.
Review 65:As we arrived at the property there were numerous black youths, pants hanging low, ball cap sideways riding bicycles in the middle of the road. Teen girls were begging for smokes. Not a warm and fuzzy feeling when we had to park our car in a lot across the street! There were no overnight problems but we felt we had to take most of our belonging up to the room. The room AC was drafty but needed to be on overnight as the room warmed up too much to sleep without it on.
Review 66:The room and bath were large and well decorated. The shower was large but only bath gel was provide no bar soap. No place to hang the bath towel within reach of the shower. The staff recommended the French 25 restaurant. New Orleans inspired menu that was great. The house car took us and picked us up after dinner. It would have been nice to walk the 7 blocks back to the hotel but we were not comfortable with the neighborhood.
Review 67:The hotel is very safe; however, Stickton is spooky.
Review 68:The hotel was lovely and atmosphere great. The staff was very courteous and professional. The bed and pillows were the best I've had comparing many expensive hotels. Very nice experience overall. Restaurant and bar options very good,
Review 69:Nothing really, we just missed eating at the restaurant, there was some big event and the restaurant was for private function so we had to eat outside.
Review 70:The staff were friendly! very pet friendly! The room was beautifully decorated and the color look so clean and relaxing! The front wasn't that attractive but not a big deal after all it's what's inside that matter the most. I was happy and definitely would recommend and stay at this hotel again!
Review 71:I am on the road 90% of my work week. Most of time, Marriott or SPG are my top choice. I gave this hotel a try because the customer review and rating. It's a nice hotel overall. However, the quality of towels are not very consistent. Some towels are thick and fluffy and some are thin and got noticeable stain on it.
Review 72:Nice room and facilities. On-site dinning is a big plus.
Review 73:I did not like that the parking was not on the hotel property.
Review 74:I had a well appointed room with a waterfront view and a view of the courtyard. The wifi was good. I appreciated the workout room that was just down the hall. It was convenient and easily accessed. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Review 75:Nothing to dislike.
Review 76:The whole place just gave off a great vibe. It was so clean, and don't me started about the bed. It was the hardest thing to get out of that heavenly bed. Thank you!!
Review 77:Have nothing bad to say about this property.
Review 78:Staff was nice and professional, room was clean, nice and bed was comfortable. Staff was very nice when I asked them for directions. I will stay here again and tell my colleagues as well. Value for the money was awesome!!!
Review 79:None.
Review 80:Love the location, being close to the water. The room looked exactly like the pictures. It was clean, modern, and comfortable. The hotel was exceeded my expectations.
Review 81:Shower has half a glass door so when u shower a lot of water accumulates on tile floor. Had to soak it up with towels when I got out. Just a poor design but beautiful otherwise
Review 82:Decorated wonderfully. Great grounds. Loved the location
Review 83:I booked this because of the waterfront location but the neighborhood isn't the greatest. We did walk to the nearby theaters but don't recommend doing that in the evening due to the high crime area. We saw homeless people in the park, but were not bothered by them. We probably won't stay here again, just due to location. After downtown renovations have been completed, this will probably be a great place to stay. Until then . . .
Review 84:We liked the reasonable cost of room service, which is important since walking in the neighborhood at night is questionable. We also liked the room itself - great bed, updated bathroom, refrigerator/freezer, microwave, etc.
Review 85:We had a king suite room. It isn't one room...it is two rooms connected and you have to enter each room through separate locked doors that are connected by a hallway...weird and inconvenient. The showers are odd in that they just have a sheet of glass instead of a door. You have to get in the shower to start it and get wet with cold water because you can't reach the handle from the side to adjust the temperature due to the solid glass being in the way. No bathtub. We had two hangers for clothes in a sweet. The water was overgrown like a swamp and stinks...so much for the view. I expected more from a king suite for the price.
Review 86:Restaurant had nice staff, good food, and comfortabe seating.
Review 87:The staff was horrible!! They charged my card when I explained I wanted to pay cash at check out..the supervisor Simone promised me she would reverse the charges but she never did!! However she did discount the room a tad bit which helped!..
Review 88:I like the the cleanliness the decor and the food at the restaurant..There's a cool little late night snack bar that sells pretty good snack for a very reasonable price.
Review 89:The room was extremely hot upon check-in and took hours to cool off. Sliding doors didn't lock. Water outside property smelled really bad. The clerk told us not to go out at night due to the inner city neighborhood. Hallway carpets were dirty.
Review 90:large bed, full refrigerator
Review 91:The survey will not except that we didn't anything negative. The most negative I can be, it's in Stockton.
Review 92:The clerk at the front desk was friendly and helpful. Instead of just standing behind the desk and pointing, she took the time to walk around and show us the hotel parking facility. She also recommended the hotel lounge and restaurant for dinner. After unpacking, we went to the lounge, which was a little loud for us. The bartender walks us to the restaurant and personally passed us to the head waiter. Even though the lounge and restaurant are divided by twenty feet, we were seated at a table that blocked out the unwanted noise. The food was very good, the room was clean and quiet. We plan to stay at the Waterfront next time we're in Stockton.
Review 93:The type of shower without a door was different, water splashed out a bit but other than that is was Wonderful!
Review 94:The decor and comfort of the beds was very nice. The light blocking curtains helped us sleep in & get a great night's rest. Room service was very quick & efficient.
Review 95:Parking was off premises & limited and accessible to wandering panhandlers. There was some sort of music festival or event at the hotel that exacerbated the parking problem. The hotel insisted on keeping the doors of the lounge & restaurant open, so that there was no escaping the loud and poor music being played. The restaurant served only a limited portion of its regular menu because of the music event.
Review 96:The Staff were generally helpful & the room and facilities were nice.
Review 97:Jesus at the front desk was very accomodating, professional, helpful, kind. Breakfast staff was also one step above in service. They made special accomodation for my son's request at breakfast, without us even asking! We asked for extra towels in the room and they were warm! The hotel is clean and relaxing. Definetly would go back.
Review 98:I was standing at the bar for a few minutes. I even made eye contact with one of the bartenders, she never came back to see if I needed help. At 10:03 they told last call was at 10:00, then ask each other was the announcement made.I was very disappointed in them.
Review 99:Overall my wife and I had a very pleasant stay at your hotel. When in Stockton we would not hesitate to use your hotel!!!!!
Review 100:All the homeless people in the streets around the hotel.
Review 101:The hotel was great and staff were helpful. The town was full of homeless people so walking around was a little scary.
Review 102:For the price it was a great room with a nice staff, but the room next door could be clearly heard through the pass through door. The hotel is in the heart of the downtown area which meant it was really scary at nite.
Review 103:most comfortable bed we've had in a motel. Restaurant best food ever!
Review 104:People hanging outside smoking cigarettes. In front of the door.
Review 105:Nice clean environment. Very relaxing
Review 106:Desired better view and tub and shower. Not awful.
Review 107:Everything.
Review 108:The room was impressive and comfortable
Review 109:The view was beautiful from my room, the gym and laundry room was really nice overall the hotel was very comfortable and was very clean and safe
Review 110:We had ants in our room and the beds were full size not queen.
Review 111:Beautiful hotel
Review 112:The staff of this hotel are exemplary! They are gracious and professional.
Review 113:The hotel rooms were very chic, roomy, and comfortable. The property is beautiful and staff is excellent.
Review 114:The neighborhood was a little sketchy but the hotel was great.
Review 115:Beautiful hotel and rooms.
Review 116:High class hotel
Review 117:Sheets were uncomfortable.. Crumbs on the bed
Review 118:Staff were great,nice spacious rooms..with a nice view.
Review 119:Liked the special touches in the room, like the very cute closets. Our room had a view of the water and the pool.
Review 120:Great room!
Review 121:none
Review 122:rooms was awesome , the dining room was awesome. eat there 2 time salads were fresh and delicious, central location
Review 123:The air conditioner installed in the room and is too noisy... Room number is 456
Review 124:The room was huge, furniture was modern, bathroom was huge, BeeKind brand toiletries (love!), grounds are very nice & great location.
Review 125:We had tea and coffee making facilities but no cups and the bed side lamp did not work.
Review 126:Staff just great
Review 127:Easy check in. Nice efficient room design. good bathroom. Quiet. Good bar and restaurant food/room service was very good
Review 128:THE AIR CONDITIONER IN OUR ROOM WAS SO LOUD WHEN IT KICKED ON THAT IT WOULD WAKE US UP.
Review 129:LIKE THE FACILITIES VERY MUCH. VERY COMFORTABLE AND RELAXING.
Review 130:We like it.
