Reviews for Goldbelt Hotel Juneau
Review 1:While the main room had been renovated, the bathroom was very dated. The heating system was very hard to regulate, either far too hot, or too cold. The staff wasn't very friendly, or courteous.
Review 2:The actual room was very nice, and the views were spectacular.
Review 3:Bathroom needed remodel. Plaster fell from he ceiling when we opened the curtains. Cold air came in through the window. Restaurant wasn't in operation. More could have been done to clear the sidewalk and parking lot of snow. Didn't let us know about free newspaper. Staff wasn't engaging.
Review 4:I liked the location and the room comfort. The room was always cleaned while we were away. Great view. able to control the temperature well.
Review 5:The window looking out toward the water was very dirty, which was a shame because the view was so amazing!
Review 6:The room was clean, comfortable, updated, and in a fantastic location.
Review 7:We stayed off season so there was little going on. The staff was polite and attentive. They are doing some construction in front but it was not trouble-some in any way and all of the workers were very polite and helpful. The beds are amazingly comfortable!
Review 8:One of the staff members between the hours of 8-10pm or so whom my husband assumed was a manager, was very very rude to my husband. She however did not ruin our stay!
Review 9:The keurig in our room was a very nice touch! All but one of the staff members were all very nice, thank you!
Review 10:The tv didn't work, the shower was horrible and the staff was barely pleasant and we live in this town. It was embarrassing!
Review 11:The room was fairly nice
Review 12:the staff wasn't very nice or helpful, stayed In a room with a broken door lock so we slept with the door free for anyone to walk on in, we decided to move to a room with two beds instead of one which is the same price if you are on the "mountin view side" lol which is just a dirty hill, no mountain. He moved us to the broken door lock room on the water side which is much more expensive, he did not inform us of that we would be charged extra, we had gotten a noise complaint at 8pm for listening to music! you can literally hear each person from every room talking from the hall way!because the walls are PAPER THIN. after being on hold for 20 min and speaking to at least 4 different people and about he situation I finally got my original price, but I still wish they would've been more accommodating about the broken lock! I came to the hotel with the intent on being one of the best hotels in Juneau, but really all I can think of this being the worst. Goldbelt staff needs to work on being more friendly and accommodating to their guests
Review 13:Restaurant was closed for renovation when I stayed - but it will be open again soon!
Review 14:Excellent location, very stylish furniture and appointments as well
Review 15:Everything was fine until the courtesy coach was overbooked in the morning! Staff offered to pay for a taxi so we waited then they declined to pay the taxi very unhappy
Review 16:no breakfast options available in the hotel. You could buy granola bar in the gift shop. When traveling with kids this is very inconvenient. I can't think of a hotel that doesn't at least offer a Continental breakfast. It would be pretty easy to throw out a bowl of fruit and some muffins.
Review 17:The rooms were very clean and comfortable. They served locally roasted coffee. Close to downtown and Centennial Hall.
Review 18:If you need Wifi, I had a lot of trouble with a very weak signal. Had to go to the front lobby to connect reliably.
Review 19:Great location with easy walk to all town locations. Very friendly staff. Nice restaurant attached to the hotel.
Review 20:There weren't very many electrical outlets or surface areas to put suitcases on, etc. When I went to checkout, the front desk clerk refused to provide a receipt to me, claiming it went against their policy. I was in a rush to catch our ferry, so I had to follow up when I got home. I called Booking.com and they contacted the hotel to request a receipt, which the Goldbelt Staff emailed to me immediately, so clearly the lady I had asked at the front desk was mistaken & had a very unhelpful attitude. Other than that one negative experience, I would definitely recommend this hotel to others and I would stay there again. :-)
Review 21:The location was terrific! It was within walking distance to main street and had free parking. The ocean front view was fabulous, although we were on the "mountain view side" it was still beautiful. The cleanliness was good, and it was quite spacious.
Review 22:The wi-fi is slow and hard to log in to and disconnects if your computer goes to sleep. The front desk person didn't know where to find our Booking.com reservation when we checked in and our card keys malfunctioned for the duration of our stay.
Review 23:The hotel is well-situated with a view of the water and within walking distance of downtown. Our room looked like it had been renovated recently and the beds are very comfortable. The airport shuttle driver was fantastic and very friendly.
Review 24:room rev. made were not right had my copy of them i had two rooms side by side ocean view when i checked in they had one room mountain view. they could not fix that ended up with one room on one floor the other room on a different floor/
Review 25:nothing
Review 26:Toilet needed repair and took awhile to fix because repairman was also shuttle driver Front desk would not give me a receipt because they said I booked through a third party
Review 27:Location and view were excellent Better experience than what we heard from other travelers about hotels in Juneau
Review 28:The facilities were "bare bones"—clean and decent—but with little beauty.
Review 29:This is an amazingly convenient location right on the waterfront. I was temporarily disabled by a sprained ankle, but it was easy to get to boat trip (e.g., Adventure Bound trip to Tracy Arm).
Review 30:staff on front desk is awfull, room are not ready till 6 p.m. One of our booked rooms are with 2 separate beds and they give us with one king size bed. So they did a lot of mistakes in paymant , so it was like nightmare
Review 31:Rooms are wide and with new furniture, staff on front desk is awfull
Review 32:-Bathrooms could use updating -Hotel is pretty dated -No real amenities aside from the restaurant
Review 33:-Walking-distance to downtown Juneau -Clean and comfortable beds -Updated rooms -Nice views from our top floor room -Decent sized room
Review 34:If this is the best hotel in Juneau, then Juneau has a long way to go in providing quality lodging service. We paid a subsancial amount of money for two nights. After requesting several times, we finally got an additional towel. To be fair, we got more then we requested, but the point is, we should have not have'd to baggered the staff in the first place. Our room was not serviced on our second day. I had to personaly procure coffee, creamers, and two cups ( the bed was not made, nor were the towels changed ). I met another guest that was in the same situation. The desk clerk said "they were short staffed that night". This is a night that Juneau had five enormous cruise ships in port with +/- 10,000 passengers aboard. Some of them must have wanted to spend the night in Juneau. In fact the desk clerk told me that they were full...how can the management allow for short staffing when the hotel is booked full? The problem is that there are few choises for somewhat quality hotels in Juneau, and they are aware of it.
Review 35:Location was good. Provided Airport pickup and delivery. Staff responded when pushed, sometimes. Room was adequate, but not worth the cost ( maybe it's an Alaska thing )
Review 36:I stayed at the Goldbelt for 4 days. The location is wonderful. It is walking distance to the water, good food and shopping. The staff was friendly and helpful. They picked me up from the airport quickly. The room was clean and comfortable.
Review 37:The bed was very worn. For the price of my stay I was disappointed. There were definite "grooves" in the bed from past sleepers. Did not make for a very good night of sleep.
Review 38:The location was excellent. Very close to down town shopping and attractions. Also very close to transit system which was very handy.
Review 39:No Air Conditioner... Just as an FYI.. seems like the upper floors where warmer. Could be good in the winter I suppose.
Review 40:The rooms where clean and comfy. They where doing some construction in the lobby area, but didn't bother us. The staff was kind and helpful. Loved the shuttle from the airport! Very helpful.
Review 41:The view and convenience on highway.
Review 42:The view , convenient location.
Review 43:Very nice hotel. Very nice staff
Review 44:Everything was awefull I will never go there again
Review 45:Nothing
Review 46:The staff . The comfort of the rooms How clean it was .
Review 47:The nice clean comfortable rooms.
Review 48:Construction and renovations going on which meant no restaurant on site.
Review 49:location
Review 50:There was suppose to be afreezer for fish there was not had to pay extra for freeze storage till I went home there days later
Review 51:Like the views
Review 52:Free parking great price convenient to downtown
Review 53:No restaraunt on site
Review 54:No restaurant. TV channels weren't working properly.
Review 55:Had free parking and the beds were comfy. Easy walk to downtown about 3 minutes.
Review 56:Hotel lobby was in construction it was noisy and messy
Review 57:Clean beds, nice room
Review 58:- Is under construction - I would expect some compensation for that. - Lack of enough parking
Review 59:Best location in town. Big and comfort room.
Review 60:No parking, ugly lobby, bathrooms need updating.
Review 61:No on site restaurant.
Review 62:Clean, friendly and very helpful staff.
Review 63:Only a double bed.`
Review 64:Clean, refrigerator, quiet.
Review 65:Small bathroom.
Review 66:Large room
Review 67:The location of the hotel was great for un-cruise ships.
Review 68:No easy access to a fitness center
Review 69:Huge room, mini-fridge, and easy walking access to all the wonderful shops and restaurants downtown.
Review 70:Good beds, new restaraunt
Review 71:Nice view and excellent city location
Review 72:great concierge staff (Lisa)
Review 73:I thought that the bar area was a bit spartan, needs a better atmosphere.
Review 74:Every thing was nice.
Review 75:Good location, great food and friendly staff
Review 76:front desk were rude especially the night shift
Review 77:good location, harbor front
Review 78:Anonymous!
Review 79:The location
Review 80:Toilet pull chain broke and never got fixed... I had to reach into the back of tank to flush
Review 81:Comfortable
Review 82:Dining room service was poor - very slow. Food was not hot.
Review 83:location, transportation to airport
Review 84:The facility is being upgraded. It's much better than last time I stayed there but not yet perfect. But having said that, it's the best hotel deal in Juneau.
Review 85:The manager was really good. The staff ought to use him as a role model
Review 86:There is NO hotel parking. One small...no...actually one TINY lot. And the surrounding streets have no parking. I was very upset because we had to tour around Juneau waiting for a spot to open up. That is unacceptable. Also the hot water was, well, not hot. My husband had two cold showers. I was mad. Also our room was by the elevator. There was noise all night long! For the price of the room...waaaay too many issues.
Review 87:The room was fine...clean and fairly updated. I like the Keurig in the room. Restaurant was good.
Review 88:Property is not air conditioned, but under normal circumstance, should not be a problem. WiFi required a new log in every time we used it. Cab from Marine Highway Ferry dock is $40. We expected the hotel shuttle service, turns out shuttle only goes to airport which is about 5 miles closer to the hotel. Manager did compensate for confusion, as we thought hotel offered shuttle to both airport and ferry dock. Hotel restaurant was closed when we were there, but should be reopened soon. There are several small restaurants within a couple of blocks.
Review 89:Location was very good. The manager, Ron, quickly made a couple of initial problems into non problems. Hotel is just finishing its renovation, once complete, it should be a very nice "older" property.
Review 90:The hotel is in a great location. Our luggage was delivered there directly from our ship. They allowed us early check in and took us to the airport in plenty of time for our flight. The hotel was clean, room large and the beds were great. What's not to like?
Review 91:slow internet, restaurant closed, coffee not replaced and only one serving was provided on first day even though two persons were registered in the room. It seems like the hotel was guarding the distribution of Keurig coffee refills. I had to ask everyday to get coffee refills.
Review 92:clean room, location, view, native art.
Review 93:No hot water, internet was horrible, restaurant in hotel was closed.
Review 94:Desk staff were nice, care rental folks seemed put out by us renting a car. Was close to good food and a nice hike. Bed was comfortable enough.
Review 95:The Manager and every staff member was friendly, accommodating and helpful. I was very pleased we had chosen this hotel for our stay in Juneau, due to it' s proximity to downtown, courtesy bus from airport and friendliness.
Review 96:The bathroom was leaking water across the floor and into the room carpeting. Several calls to the desk produced no help. Eventually we requested extra towels to soak it up. Towels were left outside a room on the floor above. Half the room was soaking wet. We paid extra for this room with a water view. We didn't expect to be wading in it.
Review 97:good location. good view. large room. good furniture
Review 98:The noise from the elevator , requested to be move to a room far away from.
Review 99:location and a view of the bay.Shuttle service to and from the airport is free
Review 100:Staff seem a little apathetic, but friendly enough.
Review 101:Ask for a renovated room! It was great! I'd also recommend the small upgrade price to get a water view room.
Review 102:Great staff! Everyone is helpful and nice. Gorgoues city, everything is walking distance. A lot of touristy rides and things to do. Great food. Great bed!
Review 103:Too many of the buildings need serious rehab work. Prices tend to be high.
Review 104:Pleasant people in town, beautiful scenery, several nice niche stores(books, art, music).
Review 105:The basic set-up was pretty much 2-star. Plastic (not glass) glasses in the bathroom; towels weren't overly fluffy. sheets weren't form-fit. I certainly could have used another chair in the bedroom. A large fan (maybe useful during muggy summers) occupied a third of the closet. The room on the 7th (top-) floor was noisy -- I think due to a fan on the roof that needed maintenance. A mirror in the elevator was broken and nobody seemed to be in a hurry to fix it. I never used the hotel restaurant or bar and didn't see many others using it either.
Review 106:location was excellent.
Review 107:Nothing at all
Review 108:Extremely friendly congenial staff from desk clerks to vandriver.Relaxed atmosphere. Large clean rooms with no unnecessary frills,Excellent location to the capital and waterfront resturants.Even the oriental resturant staff were cordial and helpful. Their squid was excellent.
Review 109:After paying for a king suite, they put me in a twin room- argued aboutchanging me but eventually did. Then, the second day of my stay theychanged my room keys without telling me and my partner and would notallow us into the room because we "didn't pay." Three daysafter my stay, I found that they over charged me on a seperate day andtransaction for an extra $180.00, and the hotel staff took over an hourfiguring out what was wrong. Fairly rude and unhelpful staff all the wayaround, minus the manager, Ivan, who provided great service.
Review 110:The view from the waterfront room was nice.
Review 111:only one staff member checking people in and out. There was a bit of a wait to check in. Also the lightbulbs don't come on right away for the lamps. you might put signs indicating this. I thought the lights didn't work so didn't use them the first night.
Review 112:No continental breakfast. The lobby was a bit cluttered with extra furniture piled in the corner adding to the dated feel of the property.
Review 113:Although a dated property, the rooms are kept up and are clean. The Bath and Body Works products is a nice touch.
Review 114:Water in shower not hot enough during my last stay. Was not a normal occurance.
Review 115:Good hotel with all essential hotel services in heart of downtown on main thoroughfare. My regular place to stay in Juneau. The staff are always very friendly and most helpful. No unneeded silly frills like pillow mints or excessive staff like doormen to pay for, so the rates are most reasonable.
Review 116:Good free coffee in AM
Review 117:all was good.
Review 118:Staff on front desk need to know the basics ie. where the information centre and the post office are located
Review 119:The room was too hot and would not cool down. Bed and pillows terribly uncomfortable.
Review 120:location was good.
Review 121:Beds
Review 122:Cleanliness was shocking, staff unprofessional
Review 123:Location
Review 124:no gym
Review 125:clean & comfortable rooms
Review 126:recent remodeled. Great location in the heart of Juneau.
Review 127:room smelled of stale cigarette smoke. the room felt unclean. the bed was worn out.
