Reviews for The Grand Hotel
Review 1:Everything was perfect except rooms just aren't well insulated for sound (few hotels are!). Can easily hear noise from other rooms.
Review 2:Big rooms, comfy bed, great location. Really lovely place overall. Undercover parking helpful. Classy decor.
Review 3:The person at the desk (Heidi) was warm and welcoming, offering maps and lots of tips. Knowing that we were coming in for a wedding, the room was ready for us early -- 11:30 AM. The room, a suite, was clean and provided all that we would need for our stay.
Review 4:The couch in the living room was very old and dirty. It needed a cover or replacement. The heavy drapes in the bedroom are dusty and very old. They need to be replaced. There was dirt in the corner of the bathroom. I cleaned one corner with a q-tip and left it for the maid to see.
Review 5:This hotel has such potential with underground parking and elevators and a good location. The rooms are spacious suites and could be outstanding with cleaning and refurbishing.
Review 6:Hot tub wasn't that great. No lights, not very poweful jets, free breakfast was just so-so. Shower head wasn't that great.
Review 7:Location wasn't bad, not too far to walk. King bed and sound machine was nice.
Review 8:Nothing!
Review 9:We have been going to Ogunquit/Wells for many years, and have stay at many different motels. The Grand Hotel is now our favorite place to stay. Very clean and friendly.
Review 10:Limited parking spaces. Poor lighting in room, compact flor. bulbs too low wattage. Receptacles/outlets need to be changed as they were all loose which made it difficult to charge electric tooth brushes and cell phones.
Review 11:The hotel room was very spacious and comfortable. Staff were very helpful and room was spotless. Hotel has an indoor swimming pool and outdoor hot tub. Buffet breakfast is provided and offers a fair choice. Location is good only 1/2 mile from Perkins Cove and just over 1/2 mile from the town.
Review 12:The size of the suite was great. It was nice having a living room. The service for the room was excellent. We enjoyed having coffee available throughout the day.
Review 13:The only thing that was not so good was the way the tv sounds could be easily heard through the walls.....
Review 14:Everything was very nice, the location, the room, the pool, and so on....
Review 15:loved the location and conveniences of everything. the price was excellent. The breakfast and the coffee all day was wonderful. would come back next year.
Review 16:WiFi signal was spotty, the bed was too soft, and breakfast offerings were ordinary.
Review 17:Staff was exceptional. Spacious, immaculate, comfortable rooms - no serious noise bleed from other rooms. Easy walk to Perkins Cove, the beach, and shopping. Two fabulous restaurants in immediate vicinity.
Review 18:Quiet room translated into no wifi... But that's ok for us. TV picture quality not good (trying to watch tennis)
Review 19:Well designed very quiet perfect room with large balcony-deck! Location perfect for walking everywhere, Marginal Way and Perkins cove easy access.
Review 20:Nothing.
Review 21:My room was a suite with a patio, very close to the ocean. It was great value. I went the week before Labor Day, which was into September this year, so it was quiet and quite nice.
Review 22:Can not think any thing...
Review 23:Indoor pool was well heated! Our room had huge space. Safe and comfortable location to walk around. Room had cozy porch. people at front desk was sincer and KIND. Neat and clean room. Enought lights for whole room.
Review 24:My wifi did not work in the room. Breakfast was ok....no salt for my hard boiled egg!!! hot tub to small.Th
Review 25:location, extremely quiet, loved the front porch for viewing the passing people. Pool was very good. covered parking. The bed and bedding were excellent. We really loved the fact that the hotel was not overrun with children, even though we love them!!!
Review 26:The room had an onion odor the entire time. 5 small parking spaces out front. The remaining parking is underground and on a gravel area where you must back in - otherwise you won't get out. The hotel is very dated. Hesitated to sit on the pull-out sofa because it looked dirty.
Review 27:The location is good. Breakfast was nice.
Review 28:Walls are a little thin and baby next door woke us up. First time we remember having this problem. Bed linens could be better quality v
Review 29:I am a repeat customer. I like their location and the staff is very friendly.
Review 30:Didn't like the old living room couch and didn't like that there was not a coffee maker in kitchen area. The coffee in the carafe, in the lobby, was too old.
Review 31:Liked the private deck, off bedroom the best.
Review 32:Excellent location, underground parking, attentive receptionist, and quiet atmosphere made this a relaxing visit to Ogunquit. We would recommend this site to other travelers. Enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the rocking chairs.
Review 33:It is a touch outdated, but not terribly! I also did not prefer an actual key to have to carry around. I would've preferred a key card instead.
Review 34:Loved the covered parking, indoor pool, and how close to downtown we were. Also loved the trolley stop right out front. The marginal way was only a quick walk as well as Perkins cove!
Review 35:Price, however in line with other hotels.
Review 36:Best? Quietness. Even though on busy street, no road noise. Pvt. balcony nice. Bed great. Staff great. Will come back!
Review 37:Would have liked more fresh fruit and there was no water at breakfast. We wished there was an on-site dryer for our beach towels and swimware (even if there was a fee).
Review 38:Very easy stroll into Perkins Cove. Nice 2nd story Balcony overlooking the quiet street. Super clean and comfortable bedding. Free recent DVD rentals was a nice touch. Very convenient parking under the hotel.
Review 39:The breakfast nook area was not well set-up. If more than 2 people were preparing their breakfast at the same time there was not enough room and each was in each other's way. The toasters did not work well. The wifi was not reliable and slow when it was working.
Review 40:We liked the size of the suite. We liked the balcony on the suite however the trees were so full there was no view. The public balcony on the second floor was very nice and allowed us to have our breakfast in the sun. It really was very quiet in our room.
Review 41:We had a first floor room which was very clean and convenient. The rooms had two TV's (one in the living area) and lots of room. Breakfast was very good with all the continental choices...cereal, toast, juices, yogurt, fruit, & bagels. I liked the indoor pool and would definitely recommend this hotel!
Review 42:Water temperature in shower varied over a few minutes. Not a big problem.
Review 43:The large, well-appointed rooms, the privacy (including the private porch), and the location.
Review 44:Thin walls and slightly dated furniture.
Review 45:This hotel has a great, friendly staff and a big, clean, comfortable room. The location was an easy walk to Perkins Cove, Marginal Way or downtown Ogunquit. Did I mention the amazing staff?
Review 46:Coffee needs to be set out by 6:00 a.m. I have to get out of the room as not to wake my husband up.
Review 47:Central to points of interest. Quiet and perfect for having a glass of wine on the deck after a day at the beach.
Review 48:Nothing
Review 49:Accomodations, especially parking was great. Had an enjoyable overnight, wish it could have been longer. Our first time in Ogunquit at The Grand won't be out last.
Review 50:We had no bad experience.
Review 51:Everything was awesome. Friendly staff and the breakfast was good. Wish there were hot breakfasts available such as scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage and home fries. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
Review 52:The location of the hotel is great. The beach and Perkins cove are both within walking distance. If you don't mind waiting for the trolley, there is a trolley stop right in front of the hotel ($2/adult, $1.50/child). The staff was very courteous and knowledgeable. That Place in Ogunquit restaurant is excellent and is 2 blocks from the hotel. The hotel cost was on the high side of our family vacation budget but nothing in Ogunquit is cheap.
Review 53:The only thing we found lacking was the breakfast it was bare bones with off brand yogurt and only fat free as a choice.
Review 54:The staff was very friendly and the location was great!! It was not on the ocean but you then you don't have those high tide prices either. You were within walking distance to many wonderful cafes and shops. Most important to us was the short walk to the ocean/Marginal Way.
Review 55:Only the noisy people above us late at night!
Review 56:The friendly staff, the welcoming given for return visitors, the cleanliness, the pools and breakfast and all day availability of coffee and cookies and hot cocoa (the children loved this), the location all make this hotel our favorite!!
Review 57:The lady at the front desk was most helpful, gave us a free upgrade, and even discounted our second night stay because the hotel rate was less than the Internet rate. She was delightful (can't remember her name).
Review 58:The wifi didn't work very well.
Review 59:The employees were very kind and welcoming. The covered parking was a great amenity. The hotel is located smack dab between Perkins Cove and Ogunquit Beach and shops.
Review 60:We had to pay $50 extra to park in an overflow parking lot across town. We were not informed beforehand that you were only allotted one car per room. Our reservation contract stated free onsite parking.
Review 61:Pool was very small, breakfast was continental. Snacks and cookies put out each day were right out of a store bought package.
Review 62:Location was great. Room was nice.
Review 63:This was our 3rd year at your hotel and never have had a bad experience. From the rooms to the staff to the morning coffee, everything seems to get better. The coffee this year was exceptionally good!
Review 64:Last year we had a corner room with a window in the living room - it was nicer! We'll try to get it next time!
Review 65:the location, the cleanness, the breakfast, the staff, the tea, coffee and cookies in the lobby all day long.
Review 66:The walls were paper thin and you could hear people whispering next door.
Review 67:I liked having a studio and separate bedroom. The beds were comfy and the staff was very pleasant. The location was perfect for shopping in Perkins Cove.
Review 68:Wold have preferred a hot breakfast!
Review 69:Great location for this area. Gold continental breakfast made this a very good value. Room was clean and terrace was a plus.
Review 70:The rooms were clean, comfortable and convenient to where we wanted to go. The desk clerk was very friendly and helpful in suggesting places for lunch and dinner. We will definitely be back again. Loved the hotel and the area.
Review 71:I had issues with WIFi. It kept drifting between Grand Hotel and next door which I didn't have a password for. You could here the people above us walking, which didn't bother me,but might somebody else
Review 72:Loved the location and price.Room was very spacious for a couple.
Review 73:A little on the pricey side.
Review 74:As a single mom I needed to get away for much deserved and needed solitude and r & r.. I had never stayed at the grand. This was my first and a little pricey ok alot pricey. But a nice place to stay.
Review 75:The friendliness and knowledge of the person that welcomed us on our arrival, and continued through our stay. The accommodations and whole staff were superb, could not ask for better.
Review 76:Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, close to town, shopping, restaurants, and ample parking. Also appreciated the extras like charging stations in both rooms.
Review 77:Nothing comes to mind.
Review 78:Pool was awesome. Kids loved it! The informal atmosphere and staff especially on Sunday first part of the day; very kid friendly and welcoming. The included breakfast was so convenient with all the kiddos. Loved the spacious decks on 3. Rooms were awesome, big, comfy and enough space is key. We love The Grand.
Review 79:It was quiet and cozy and the desk clerk was very friendly and helpful when asking about restaurants in the area and things to do within walking distance.
Review 80:we could hear noise from the room above us, people walking across the floor. some lobby noise. We didn't go in the hot tub on sunday afternoon as we had planned because the temp of the water was not very hot.
Review 81:cleanliness, comfortable room accommodations, location, friendly desk and housekeeping staff. Private balcony. Liked that there is a pool and hot tub.
Review 82:They didnt have honeymoon suite and i had to order a basket as they had no extras for a honey moon
Review 83:We didnt have a lot of time to plan but the people were nice rooms were clean and hot tub was warm .
Review 84:The television in the living area did not have good reception. The television in the bedroom did not work.
Review 85:The staff was exceptionally helpful. The pool and hot tub were immaculate. The breakfast and coffee offered throughout the day was a nice gesture.
Review 86:Our traditional place to stay in Ogunquit was closed for the season so we ventured to a new spot: The Grand Hotel! What a great find! We were thrilled with the size of our suite, the lovely de or and the warmth and comfort of the lobby, too. We will definitely return.
Review 87:If you want a bar and restaurant facilities, this is not the place to come to, but we did not need this - there are plenty of bars and restaurants locally.
Review 88:Big comfortable rooms well equipped. Excellent continental breakfasts and exceptionally friendly staff. Very good value for money at this time of the year and ideal for a pair of seniors who need a break by the sea.
Review 89:Hot tub closed at 9. Wish it was open a bit longer. Other than that all was good!
Review 90:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Bed was comfortable. Suite was just what we needed. We could walk almost everywhere we wanted to go.
Review 91:Bathroom lighting was poor for applying makeup. And could have used a light in the closet area.
Review 92:Staff was excellent. Location was fine for us. Found our room to have everything we needed. Liked the convenience of parking under the hotel with easily accessible elevator. Quiet. Lovely lobby with simple adequate breakfast.
Review 93:The guy snoring in the next room for two nights, but of course that is Not your fault !!
Review 94:I liked the room the minute we walked in.. Very nice and clean, personel very nice also .Great to have a garage under also!
Review 95:Beautiful suite, casual, friendly staff, great location for Ogunquit & Perkins Cove strolling, variety of choices for breakfast, comfortable bed & kitchen faciities.
Review 96:I would like to have had a coffee pot in the room.
Review 97:The location, the room was very nice, comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful and their recommendations were just what we were looking for.
Review 98:Loved everything. The hotel is in a great location, just a few minutes walk from Perkins Cove with great shops and restaurants. Huge comfortable room, balcony, hot tub, indoor pool, good breakfast which you can take back to your room.
Review 99:Not the best sound insulation between floors. Hot tub only bath temperature.
Review 100:Tasteful understated style, not cutesy and fussy. Helpful night clerk at front desk.
Review 101:We had not dislikes for this hotel
Review 102:Upon arrival the staff were welcoming and very helpful. The car parking was beneath the building with a lift so very easy to move heavy luggage around. The facilities in the suite were excellent with a TV in both the lounge area and the bedroom, the bed was large and comfortable and the kitchen area was useful. Everything was spotlessly clean and to a high standard. Breakfast was good with a fair choice. The hotel was situated to allow walking both into the town centre or to Perkins cove, very good location. Would definately recommend.
Review 103:There was absolutely nothing to dislike in our opinion.
Review 104:Extremely comfortable environment, most helpful and friendly staff, room amenities, hotel amenities, and warm welcome. We are also so appreciative of the surprise upgrade. We will return at our first opportunity!!
Review 105:Friendliness of Staff Personal attention Close walking distance to Perkins Cove and Marginal Way Comfortable bedding and accommodations A variety of breakfast choices, delicious fresh fruit We had a perfect marvelous getaway!
Review 106:As mature travellers, we found the walking distance to Perkins Cove a little far and we definitely needed to drive to the beach area.
Review 107:We loved the suite with two tvs - my husband watched the ballgame and I watched my show. We enjoyed the included breakfast. We also liked that the windows opened so we could get fresh air.
Review 108:Let me think...............
Review 109:We were looking for a place to relax. We have driven through Ogunquit before but did not stop. We posted on fb asking for referrals and an in-law suggested The Grand. We are happy they told us about you. The quietness of the hotel was wonderful. AND, the Mrs. loved the shops around the hotel and within a short drives distance.
Review 110:Did not like that window was in bedroom, made living area dark and not inviting. Breakfast was adequate, but was the same every day, quite boring.
Review 111:Rooms were clean and comfortable. Bedding was nice and very clean.
Review 112:No coffee pot in room, though available in lobby. Parking can be a bit tricky with large vehicles. Back after Oguquit Playhouse show, only spots available were labeled for staff-we became staff that night.
Review 113:Suite with separate bedroom was a plus, balcony seating was very relaxing. Close proximity to good restaraunts and Perkins Cove. Breakfast covered continental basics.
Review 114:Can't think of anything we didn't like. Nice hotel on all counts.
Review 115:My husband and I spent two nights at the Grand Hotel recently. Very nice comfortable suite. Had 2 TVs fridge and micro. King bed was very comfortable. Rooms were very clean. A little too cool to enjoy the outdoor porch and balcony. Close to Perkins Cove and good restaurants.
Review 116:at times we could hear guests in nearby rooms.
Review 117:very good location . nice breakfest available. hotel kept very clean. value was excellent .will recommend to friends
Review 118:I gave the kitchen facilities a poor rating because basically there wasn't any. There was a small refrigerator and microwave (which was nice) and 2 wine glasses. That was it.
Review 119:The location was perfect. Parking was easy. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice free breakfast. We had a comfortable deck. Walls and ceilings seemed to be well insulated. ( very important when you're on the first floor)
Review 120:Pricey ($200/night), but it was high season and I was paying for proximity to the cove. Had driven a lot so wanted to be able to walk to things. I felt the place could use a facelift since the decor was a bit dated.
Review 121:The staff were friendly and helpful, which was appreciated since I was traveling alone. Five minute walk to Perkins Cove restaurants & the very scenic Marginal Way foot path. Room was large and bathroom was nice.
Review 122:The only thing I could hav asked for would be a hand held shower for my husband.
Review 123:My husband is in a wheelchair and the staff was so helpful and kind to us. We received excellent treatment from all he staff. Our room was so comfortable for us both. We really enjoyed our stay because of The Grand. Thank you.
Review 124:pillows to thick, I like thin ones. room kind of blah in the decoration and not very warm and inviting to the eye.
Review 125:the location rooms were big and the bed comfortable quiet everyone was very nice and helpful
Review 126:August 2014 was our first stay at the Grand Hotel. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The king size bed was very comfortable. The bathroom and kitchenette were very clean. They have a small indoor pool, we enjoyed. They had fresh cut fruit, bagels, muffins, cereal, hard boiled eggs and coffee every morning. Cookies and coffee all day in the lobby. The trolley stop is right out front. We hope to stay here again next time we go to Ogunquit. (:)
Review 127:We didn't like the blackout curtains in the bedroom. Felt too closed in. Although we understand the location of the room (1st floor) warranted a curtain of this type, we would have appreciated the option of a second, more transparent curtain.
Review 128:We liked the convenience of parking below the hotel & walking to Perkins Cove. We also appreciated our room being cleaned in such a short time after we left the hotel to go for a walk or have a meal off-site.
Review 129:Very surprised as to how thin the walls were. Really made it difficult to sleep. I would like to think that something could be done to rectify that. It would make a huge difference whether or not my husband and I would stay there again.
Review 130:The location of the hotel is perfect. Loved the ambiance. The hotel is well kept and charming.
