Reviews for Commodore Astoria

Review 1:seemed like a very high rate for a very minimal experience. I wouldn't stay again.

Review 2:Location is fantastic. Aesthetically pleasing and hip environment

Review 3:The only less than positive comment is that it can be a bit noisy in a room facing the street(s), an old building doesn't have a lot of sound-proofing. But this is a small price to pay for simply a great experience. And hey...there were ear plugs in the nightstand!

Review 4:Great experience, neat old style hotel, really cool people working there. Felt like we stepped into a 1950's movie (in the best way). Just felt really comfortable for the soul, almost like we belonged there.

Review 5:Coffee and tea making should be easy, without having to go to the (excellent) coffee shop. It's a minor quibble, though.

Review 6:A well-located, carefully-renovated, older building. Staff with an interest in their work.

Review 7:We should have known better but we got the room by the road and it's super loud. If you try and leave the window open, you won't sleep.

Review 8:Location is awesome. You can walk to all the good bars and restaurants and its easy to find parking. They're super dog friendly and staff is always friendly.

Review 9:VERY noisy fan somewhere in the building. Called the desk and they turned it off - so that was resolved quickly The nicely restored hotel is located downtown, but on a very busy street. Traffic noise most of the night.

Review 10:Very nice staff. Located near restaurants. Clean.

Review 11:The sound barrier. You can easily hear the guy snoring in the room beside you

Review 12:It was very clean and very modern. In the perfect location. The bathrooms were shared with the whole floor, but we never had a problem waiting to the toilet/shower.

Review 13:We had a fantastic time here, the coffee shop downstairs was perfect, the staff were friendly and looked after us very well. We enjoyedthe sound of the boats in the morning and the view of both the boats navigating the Columbia River and view of the street from the room.

Review 14:Street noice.

Review 15:Super clean. No musty smell which speaks well for the quality of the remodle of this old building. Weeere upgradedto a room with a bath, but because of the overall cleanliness i would have had no trouble with the shared bath. Hi know i've spoken a lot about cleanliness, but after 2 weeks on the road you realize how really nice and important that is.

Review 16:The price: too expensive for a tiny room with a little window (no view=a wall, no A/C) and shared bathroom. Lot of noise (rooms too close) with open window.

Review 17:The location

Review 18:The hotel room was really nice, however it was just too loud. The windows are single pane and the hotel is in the middle of the state hwy couplet. It was incredibly loud. The hotel provided ear plugs... that is how loud it was.

Review 19:Our inside "cabin" room had no ventilation (window was on something akin to an air shaft)and no fan; I would not stay in such a room again..

Review 20:Location; quality of workmanship everywhere in the hotel and cafe

Review 21:The street noise level was pretty intense. However, there were very clear disclaimers about the noise on the website and at booking and so it was not a surprise, but it was loud and would impact our decision to stay there again.

Review 22:The street noise was loud with the windows open, but unavoidable in this location and should be expected.

Review 23:LOVED this hotel! We stayed in a private room with our own bathroom. Room was big, bright, clean and comfortable. Staff was super friendly and offered a free beer tasting in the evening. The common spaces were inviting and designed wonderfully, and the adjacent coffee shop was perfect in the morning. Even the hand soap smelled great :)

Review 24:A little spendy, would have been a lot more had I not booked 4th of July weekend six months in advance.

Review 25:It was beautiful and classy, the staff was wonderful and accommodating, and it was an absolutely perfect location to spend a romantic weekend. (As long as you get your own bathroom!)

Review 26:My girlfriend and I checked in late on the 19th and the person who checked us in (a younger girl with glasses and tattoos) was so helpful and made us feel very well taken care of. We loved our stay

Review 27:I could have used air conditioning or a larger fan; the room was a bit stuffy but not uncomfortable.

Review 28:Very cozy, cute, and unique. Helpful staff and great selection of movies to rent for free.

Review 29:Being picky here…but since you ask...noise from other guests could be an issue if you're a light sleeper due to the thin walls. they play strange music loops in the hallway that you can hear all night long while in your room. that is unless you tell the front desk and they will happily oblige and turn it off.

Review 30:perfect location. walk to anything. enjoyed the historic feel of the place. would definitely stay again.

Review 31:An urban chic wannabe. Some lovely decor touches but when it comes down to the rooms, ours was extremely small, without a bath (had to share with several other rooms), and very noisy. Rather disappointed.

Review 32:Great location!

Review 33:Horrible noise issue and unbearable heat in the rooms. The young men above us were stomping, dragging and dropping things on the floor, slamming doors and talking loudly with the window open . I mentioned that people were trying to sleep and they retorted that it was payback. Huh? My little boy and I were quiet as mouses. Between that and the unbelievably hot temperature in the rooms I got no sleep. Maybe okay as a hostel for young adults but not families. Won't stay here again

Review 34:Old historic hotel with a nice remodel and good location. Staff very friendly and helpful

Review 35:It was terribly noisy. We needed to keep the windows open for air circulation, because it was a hot summer day. There wasn't a fan in the room or AC to cool it down.

Review 36:The room was spacious and the bed comfy. It had a newly remodeled bathroom with a rain shower.

Review 37:Just bit noisy, remember your neighbors can hear everything ......like the private phone conversation of a loud talker to a close friend

Review 38:Nice clean room just remember toilet and shower are down the hall. Be sure to check on your room size , the one i had would not work very well for two people. Great location!!

Review 39:When we arrived, I found that our two day reservation has been erroneously noted as a single night. The staff put us in a suite for our second night without additional charge or hassle. We'll return and promote this hotel to our friends.

Review 40:The WiFi was saturated, meaning too many users on making slow and sometimes incomplete downloads/uploads.

Review 41:The room was clean, the bed comfortable, the stay wonderful, the culture amazing. Really enjoyed staying here. Loved the locale - Baked Alaska, Coffee Shop.

Review 42:We liked everything about our stay here, but be aware that many rooms do not have their own bathroom.

Review 43:We really enjoyed the effort made to make this old hotel a classy, but funky place. Our room was very clean, much more so than the average hotel. There was an iPod docking station and a wall-mounted pencil sharpener for our convenience. A hotel published newspaper brought us up to speed on local history. Earplugs were provided for light sleepers.

Review 44:The walls are very thin and our room was next to the shared bathrooms, so I was woken up every time somebody flushed.

Review 45:The location is great for visiting Astoria and the rooms are cute and cosy. The staff was very friendly and you also have the option to rent DVDs at the reception.

Review 46:Hope you don't mind a hostel style shared bathroom setting. Hallways don't give much sound proofing from screaming children at 7am! Parents, control your kids so the rest of us don't suffer with sleep deprivation for the rest of our day!

Review 47:The room is small and has all you need for your stay. Great & attentive front desk staff and the room was very clean.

Review 48:No bathroom facilitys, no parking, can do atlot better for the money, completly missled by booking.com, very dissappointed, had to stay elsewhere

Review 49:Didnot like

Review 50:My wife and I absolutely loved our stay at the Commodore. Great location, great ambience, wonderful staff (they hand made a birthday card for my wife!), and an unbelievable value for the price. We've found our new favorite getaway.

Review 51:someone was slamming doors at 530 in the morning

Review 52:this hotel is awesome. Small modern rooms, perfect for young budget minded couples and they give you a free local craft beer between six and seven. you can't go wrong and a amazing coffee shop downstairs and it's within walking distance of many badass things

Review 53:Had I read the fine print, I would have booked a "suite" vs. a regular room. If you have a regular room, you will need to leave it to use the bathroom as well as the showers. Luckily, there weren't many other people in the hotel so we didn't have issues.

Review 54:The hotel was centrally located and very quiet. It was also very clean! Would definitely stay here again - although next time, I will request a suite.

Review 55:The ear plugs were a must...the street is noisy, as are the hallways late at night. The bed is soft, and initially comfortable but we were stiff and sore in the morning due to lack of support. This probably won't affect younger folks.

Review 56:The location and friendly staff. Beautifully clean room.

Review 57:Was a bit noisy overnight at times, but I neglected to utilize the fresh ear plugs provided in the night stand.

Review 58:What a great place to stay - the staff is so friendly, every detail is attended to, so clean, eco-friendly, and cute coffee shop is attached to the lobby for very relaxed get up and go. The Commodore Astoria is a definite favorite of mine when not in the mood to camp at Fort Stevens!

Review 59:The only downside was street/road noise, but that's a consideration in any downtown Astoria location. It just comes with the territory.

Review 60:The downtown location is convenient and the staff were wonderfully friendly and outgoing. The sunny suite was actually a large room, but very comfortable and spacious with nice 'retro' touches. Perfect, when you consider the rate was the same as the Comfort Suites!

Review 61:The night I stayed was Valentines. ...the yelling from the street at 4:00 in the morning was a bit much.

Review 62:So close to pubs restaurants and shops ...great location!

Review 63:We got into town after 8:30pm and wanted to shower and watch a movie in bed. As we were crawling into bed there was a big yellow stain on the comforter as well as the sheets. It was too late to complain and we just turned the heater on and slept on top of the comforter with the extra blanket. For the $ that was spent that was pretty ridiculous!

Review 64:The location was alright and the staff was very friendly.

Review 65:I neglected to read the fine print. The room was miniscule. The bathroom and shower room was down the hall, which was not what I had planned for. We stayed there two nights and I didn't get any sleep either night. Bed was too small for the two of us, the room too hot and with an open window we heard the noise of all our neighbors until 2 in the morning. There is no quiet on this property, at least on the cheap side of the hall.

Review 66:The building has been restored and it is beautiful. Perfect location. Comfortable bed.

Review 67:The price seemed a little steep for having shared bathrooms and the room felt just a bit small...but these things turned out to be minor as my stay was excellent!!

Review 68:the hotel was very clean, the room was small but very comfortable, the shared bathrooms and shower were convenient and clean and the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, There was a separte coffee shop right next door connected to the hotel which served full meals from 6:30am. I really enjoyed my stay at the Commodore!

Review 69:A lot of creaking wood and sound travels between floors, but no after-hours noise, so it was not a problem.

Review 70:Charming old building, friendly and gracious staff, free wine and beer upon check-in, convenient downtown location with a coffee shop below, plenty of on-street parking.

Review 71:For paying the "suite" room price - The bed was a little soft & small. Bathroom was large & clean, but very sparcely appointed. There could be improvements in those areas.

Review 72:This hotel is terrific. Wonderfully quaint remodeling job. Excellent coffee shop downstairs. Great location for easy walking around town. Clean, neat, friendly. I would highly recommend it.

Review 73:The smell from their excellent coffee shop permeated the entire premise.

Review 74:The hotel is a very tastefully rehabilitation of an old hotel. The materials used are of high quality and appropriate.

Review 75:A bit noisy at night but they di offer earplug in the room.

Review 76:Hip Boutique type hotel in the heart of Astoria. Great Price. Close to Ft. George tap room.

Review 77:The room was just a bed in a tiny room. The bed was barely a double. No bathroom. I know the building is old but knowing this didn't help us get to sleep when the floor above us creaked all night.

Review 78:The decor was modern and sharp. No doubt. It looked like Restoration Hardware catalog. The restaurant downstairs was beautiful but the prices were high and the food was tiny!

Review 79:"Shared bathroom" should be in bold at the top of the listing, not in the fine print. I was in a hurry when booking this room and didn't realize the shower pics are only for the suites. At least they were nice and clean. Also, GF couldn't get the tiny TV to work, but whatever.

Review 80:Super clean, cool style, great location, friendly staff. Great vibe you won't get at a McHotel.

Review 81:Location was fantastic, the coffee place downstairs was great. Staff was very friendly. The noise wasn't a factor for us like a lot of people comment on. I also like that the hotel supplies ear plugs.

Review 82:Street, timed parking. Bed was uncomfortable. No ventilation. Shared bathrooms and showers down the hall. Paper thin walls. More of a party hotel.

Review 83:The staff was fantastic. Very upbeat, friendly and gave us tips on where to park and places to visit while in Astoria. Good value and walking distance to everything.

Review 84:Everything. The staff, the history and the cleanliness of the hotel.

Review 85:I didn't want to leave

Review 86:The environment, food, cleanness, approach...

Review 87:Nothing.

Review 88:The friendly staff and the little extra amenities offered at no charge. Location was great. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

Review 89:An old style hotel in a modern simple mode. Great coffee. Good quite rooms. Excellent sleep.

Review 90:Great feel. Not your average hotel. Love the movie collection

Review 91:Nada

Review 92:Clean, historic, location and staff

Review 93:It would have been more desirable if it was more quite. We could hear our next door guests.

Review 94:The proximity to everything. Cafe down below.

Review 95:walls were a little thin so was a bit louder than ideal

Review 96:clean, friendly staff, complimentary beer

Review 97:trying to sleep while logging trucks go by your window is quite difficult.

Review 98:comfy beds

Review 99:Loved the lobby and cafe next door.

Review 100:A little noisy in the morning from outside traffic

Review 101:Tristan at the front desk was very helpful and friendly.

Review 102:Pretty loud, could hear other folks' tvs, etc.

Review 103:Decor

Review 104:Artsy rooms, sink, and showers. Fun place to be. I strongly recommend it.

Review 105:Commodore Motel

Review 106:The Town Of Astoria And Surrounding Area.

Review 107:TV is a bit quirky

Review 108:Excellent friendly staff recommended restaurants where we had wonderful dining experiences

Review 109:Layout was a mix of old charm and new tech. Very helpful staff.

Review 110:Bed not the best, super soft, TV very small.

Review 111:The location, free beer, design and decor, the cleanliness, the friendliness of staff.

Review 112:Small issue with blinds, showed some openings , privacy issue, but it was ok.

Review 113:Loved the comfortable bed and the style here! So clean and welcoming.

Review 114:Bed was a little small. But comfortable.

Review 115:Reasonable price and lovely decor. Perfect location. Friendly staff.

Review 116:The entire hotel, we did not even end up staying, we left.

Review 117:The coffee shop that was attached to the hotel.

Review 118:The hotel was beautiful and the staff was so attentive and helpful. Our room was incredibly clean and perfect for the two people.

Review 119:Coffee shop next door closed too early.

Review 120:Ambiance was very warm with a nostalgic feel. Staff was very welcoming and cordial.

Review 121:Decoration is amazing The room was very comfortable I left a necklace and they wrote to me to return it People at the front desk Very clean

Review 122:A lot of road noise. Thin walls, you can hear your neighbors.

Review 123:On sight coffee shop. Nice furnishings.

Review 124:thin walls

Review 125:location

Review 126:A little basic and lots of dogs making noise in the morning- but we were so very happy with our stay here!

Review 127:Amazing value and a really comfy bed.
