Reviews for Eurohostel

Review 1:Very nice and helpful staff. The room was ok, just basic furniture, however I didn't need more comfort. Another plus: not so far to the city center, and line 4 (as I remember), which can take you to the main train station, has a tram stop next to the hostel.

Review 2:showers were tricky to figure out - but I liked that the showers and the whole hostel was designed to be more environmentally friendly. Paper thin walls between rooms as well.

Review 3:Location was perfect!!! You are located in such a situation that sightseeing was so easy. Just getting from the train station to this hostel you see most of the main sight seeing attractions. Free morning sauna and a breakfast option was also handy. The reception always had things to help us from airport taxis to restaurant suggestions, very helpful staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable and showers were also clean.

Review 4:This hostel is as bland as they come. It has no life or character to speak of. Our room was clean, but sort of depressing. It reminded us of army barracks. There wasn't even a TV on our room. The walls are extremely thin. We heard every word of the conversations next door. It's nice that the hostel has its own sauna, but it can only be used for free between 6 and 9 in the morning. We did not really like the overall value for the money we spent. But: It's Finland.

Review 5:We liked the location of the hostel. There are good tram connections to the downtown area (there is a station right next to the hostel), but it's not too far for a walk, either. It was also nice to have free (and FAST!!) wi-fi in the room. The bathroom on our floor was surprisingly clean, given the sheer number of people who must be using it every day.

Review 6:We spent christmas there and it was not exciting at all. We were in a hostel in Stockholm super friendly, with a lot of activities planned and celebrations for christmas, and Eurohostel didn't have anything at all. Kitchens are small and dirty, fridges are old and with keys that you have to make a deposit to use, sticky floors in the rooms... It is not a hostel to make friends or meet people because you don't have any common area to do that. Not even shares fridges to give away left overs, for example. Everything else is paid, breakfast, sauna, you need to make a deposit to use the fridge, the iron... They even charged to print one page of my check-in... Just a boring hotel with shared bathrooms.

Review 7:It was the cheapest option and you had a lot of privacy

Review 8:They should have cleaned floor in the room at least once in three days. They didn't take away the garbage, so we have to do it ourselves. They provided us with clean bed sheets, but they didn't make the bed, so we had to do it ourselves and they didn't take away used bed sheets.

Review 9:Friendly staff, shared shower, toilet and kitchen were clean, good wi-fi, good price/quality ratio, free luggage room, discount for sightseeings, quietness in the room, convenient location

Review 10:for this price the rooms could have been nicer and more toilets..

Review 11:very very good location, close to the harbour, 15-20 min walk to the city (or 5 with the tram) quiet, close to the ferry, very nice and helpful personel

Review 12:Rooms are a bit student hostel style, not good sound isolation, lack of devices in the kitchen and WiFi not perfect, lost connection sometimes

Review 13:Great location, nice staff, beds and linen and towels are good. Sauna is nice and really hot.

Review 14:Please provide the showers with soap and shampoo. The breakfast could be a bit better for the price asked. The toilets could use cleaning up more frequently.

Review 15:Friendly staff, restaurant, morning sauna

Review 16:No common room, no hostel atmosphere created at all, I wouldn't recommend eating in the small restaurant on site, I didn't like the way the kitchen facilities all locked at 11pm as I like tea before bed!

Review 17:Very good location if getting the boat from Stockholm, I liked the short walk to the centre (near Uspenski cathedral), tram stop just outside, good washing facilities, free morning sauna, well equipped kitchen, good WiFi

Review 18:The beds are not good . 2 child size single beds for a couple at over 50 euros insnt really worth it . The rooms was like a long prison cell .

Review 19:Clean place , friendly staff and very helpful staff and good location .

Review 20:If you don't get into the shower before everyone else you'll be having a cold shower! Mattresses very thin and uncomfortable.

Review 21:Very central and easy to find. Staff friendly and accommodating.

Review 22:If you intend to work over Internet while staying at Eurohostel, better forget this idea. It is a headache to get access to Internet in your room. There should be some space for cloths in the shower room.

Review 23:Morning sauna - doubtlessly a better option for morning shower than shower rooms. Walking distance to city centre is an advantage.

Review 24:Nothing

Review 25:The reception was helpful and the place was quiet. But the best thing was the location of the hotel, the tram is outside the building and even walking to the central station is not that far.

Review 26:Could have been small amenities like soap dispenser in showers or a cup in room for those that travel very lightly.

Review 27:Location. Opportunity to cheaply upgrade at last minute. Cleanliness and layout of hostel, feels more like hotel.

Review 28:No bad experience.

Review 29:Located in few minutes from tram station, and not far from Alexanterinkatu - one of main streets in the center of Helsinki. The time of moving in is 14:00 but you can do it much earlier (i.e. if you come in the morning, like we did) with some extra money (we added only 5 euros for that) if there would be a free room on that time. The receptionist was kind and spoke English well, but moreover she solved my problem immediately: there was only one towel in double room, so I was given another one after I asked for it. The room was clean and convenient and so were kitchen and shower room. It absolutely worth its money and next time I be in Helsinki I'll definitely stay in that place!

Review 30:nothing

Review 31:Staff were friendly and efficient, lift to all floors and the rooms were a good size with plenty of storage. Tram stops across the street but only 15 min walk to town. Onsite restaurant is excellent. Pizza and breakfast delicious.

Review 32:Internet doesn't work in all rooms, some of the guests made a party or sort of and the place was noisy. There's just one exclusive bathroom for girls, the others were a mess in my second night there.

Review 33:Good location.

Review 34:All doors very heavy. Staff nice, but always very serious, not a hostel type of. They sell only a selection of public transport tickets.

Review 35:The location on a peninsula, in a calm area, with food stores nearby, and frequent trams to the centre.

Review 36:Not bad exactly, but I was very cold in the room, so it wasn't a comfortable stay for me. The showers were only tepid, so I couldn't warm up.

Review 37:Very good location for the Viking Ferry, and 15 mins walk to the center. Sort of expensive for a Hostel, also the restaurant on site, although maybe normal in Finland.

Review 38:Common shared bathrooms are located in the middle of the hallway, and depending on which end of the hallway your room is located in, it might be a long walk to get there.

Review 39:Very clean. Comfortable room. Location very close to one of the port terminals and about 15-20 minute walk to the city center

Review 40:The elevator does not look clem spray with any spray of fragance.same the rooms to removes body odor from ghem.

Review 41:Your attitude on the front desk, always wiling to help.

Review 42:The shower door banging open and closed every few minutes in the night. It kept me awake. A pity as I am sure it could be quietened.

Review 43:Comfortable and clean. Probably cleanest hostel I have stayed in.

Review 44:No Tissue paper near the wash basin to dry the hands is provided. Since a lot of people use the WC in the floor, it smells bad after sometime. It will be good if a freshener spray is installed inside which automatically sprays after a certain interval. Breakfast is way too costly. We expected something around 4-5€. But for the taste and menu, the price of 9€ is not worth it.

Review 45:Good Location, 24*7 Service, Cleanliness, Comfortable rooms, Free Sauna, Floor-Kitchen, Luggage locker service

Review 46:No bad experience. But maybe rooms should be inspected more carefully before guests occupy them, to be sure there will be no problems.

Review 47:Fast and courteous response of manager and staff when I had a problem with my roof.

Review 48:The all walls within the building was terrible thin. It meant all noises were audible. So my nights were very uncomfortable, I was not able to sleep almost nothing + because the matress was a simple ,very thin, u can imagine it was only a SPONGE BED.

Review 49:Elisa the recepcionist, was so helpful.

Review 50:The room was spacious but not alot of character. The washroom was a bit small and shower was not too private as shower stalls were with glasses and only covered the mid-area.

Review 51:Location is close to some good restaurants and nice beautiful sites. It is also by the Viking Cruiseline if you want to go to Tallinn or St. Petersburg. The Market Square is also within walking distance and you can take the ferry to Suomenlinna Fortress which is a beautiful site to visit.

Review 52:Kitchen is closed between 23.00 and 6.00. Very noisy air conditioning in my room that cannot be switched off.

Review 53:Good transport connections with city center (tram). Close to ferry terminal. Affordable prices for private rooms. Clean, comfortable bed.

Review 54:I did not like the breakfast and don't personally feel it was worth €9. The pizza I ordered for dinner was so oily it was dripping oil through the box. I suggest eating elsewhere

Review 55:The location was great with close access to the tram network and the hostel was clean. I had a twin room with shared bathroom. I hardly ever saw anyone else in the bathrooms. The showers have saloon style doors with a gap so if you are a but shy I suggest getting your own bathroom

Review 56:Shared fridge could use refurbishing (rusting in parts), showers could use a bit more privacy (like higher doors)

Review 57:Staff was very friendly; excellent location (5-10 min walk to Uspenski and Helsinki cathedrals, east harbor, central station); price was good - esp. in comparison to surrounding properties; clean shared bathroom

Review 58:My room was a bit cold but it may have just been my inability to acclimatise!

Review 59:Free sauna was excellent in the mornings. It was very quiet in the whole building and everywhere was nice and clean.

Review 60:Window left open so my room was freezing, “air condition” gives you an annoying constant hum overnight, no control for it - its just a built in pipe really. No carpet, but linoleum, like in hospital corridors, tired & dirty. Only one wall socket, so choose carefully between your depleted devices. You will hear everything through walls & door. 2 toilets and 3 shower per floor for all rooms - forget your morning routine.. Showers has no doors, neither curtains, only glass half-doors, so be comfortable to expose yourself for strangers. Net disconnecting in every few minutes or so. Bring your own bed linen, as there is none. All this for approx 50 Euros.

Review 61:Nothing really, for an extra ten or so euros you get your homey comfort, though I thought it should be ok for the few hours I needed for sleep....wrong.

Review 62:Common kitchen opens only at 6am. So no breakfast for those who depart early.

Review 63:Reasonable price for single room. Very friendly staff. Bar and restaurant that are open up quite late (even when everything else in Katajanokka is closed). All public places were clean. Room was quite basic, but comfortable. it was quiet during the night. Decent wifi connection.

Review 64:Almost too big (you feel more than a number), but that's it.

Review 65:Cozy male/female sauna for free (in the morning, in the evening you have to pay a little), high-end tv (movies on demand, internet on tv, many channels), helpful staff, very close to the port of Viking Line and still close to the market place and the center, restaurant inside the hostel.

Review 66:Check-in was very slow. We didn't get the buffet breakfast because it was 9 euro which we thought was very expensive. The walls were thin and we were able to hear the people in the room next to us.

Review 67:The location was good. The room was spacious. Wifi worked well. It was the cheapest hostel in Helsinki and was good. Very average stay.

Review 68:It's a fine hostel we had a private room so that was nice. It's still quite expensive for what you get (you need to make your own bed). But there are no alternatives so you roll with it.

Review 69:Location is really nice just outside the city center. There is also a tram that stops in front of the hostel which is great if you have a heavy bag. Oh and there is a lift! Also a must if you have a lot of luggage! Rooms are very simple but it's fine if you don't stay too long. The toilet seat of the bathroom was broken so we had to share 1 toilet for the whole floor which wasn't ideal but it was ok. It was pretty clean also (shower/bathroom etc.). I do however still find the price a bit high for such basic accommodation (just two beds and a closet that's it). Been here before will return!

Review 70:The cleanliness of the sanitary installations near the rooms were not very well maintained - granted this may have been an exceptional occurance with a small number of guests, facilty on geound floor was well maintained / and fhe bird sounds in the same facilities ade them more agreeable. Internet connction in the room was poor.

Review 71:Flexible, very kind and helpfull staff, location excellent and good infrastructure.

Review 72:Kitchen facilities are quite limited. Things like salt and chopping boards you come to expect as standard, but they were nowhere to be seen. Location isn't the best.

Review 73:Very welcoming staff. Free sauna was a great touch.

Review 74:Small moan, but would have prefered mens showers and toilet facilitities to be in separate rooms

Review 75:Good location ( no.4 tram, 30 metres from entrance of hostel, takes you to Senate square, western side of the rail station, and Olympic stadium), friendly staff, comfortable rooms.

Review 76:Not so well equipped kitchen on the 3rd floor, e. g. there was no knife.

Review 77:Nice common bathroom, simply equipped room but there was everything we needed. Quite close to the city center and ferry terminal.

Review 78:They were flexible about letting us use the luggage room. Very handy for the Viking Line trip to Stockholm. It is a 5 minute walk. Local tram makes it convenient to city centre.

Review 79:room a bit too simple and i didnt know they didnt clean the room, anyway i did my bed, 1 towel is not enough in my opinion, but after 2 days i got used to be in a hostel

Review 80:people kind at reception and professional nice ambiance, not noisy at all, services clean

Review 81:Loved the location. It's right at the Vyokatu (Viking Terminal) stop on the No 4 tram. Alternatively, it's an easy walk into town. Supermarket nearby so you can make use of the good kitchen set-up (no toaster, though). I like the compartmentalised fridge, so everyone can have a fair share. The soundproof rooms are great and the bathroom are immaculate. We would stay again.

Review 82:There were just only two toilets in each floor. If they have more , that would be gteat.

Review 83:Sauna was nice to warm up my body in the morning with free of charge!!

Review 84:Very clean, nice sauna (free in the mornings) which was empty when we got there, 15-20 min walk to the centre, right next to the Viking line to Tallinn

Review 85:The wall mounted TV was a little antiquated but not a big bother.

Review 86:Friendly staff, nice clean facilities, clean rooms and very handy to the Viking ferry and the town centre. Would definitely stay again!

Review 87:Kitchen is closed for nights. Smoking area is directly under our room's windows. Not enough hot water in showers.

Review 88:Clean. Friendly staff. Free sauna in the morning.

Review 89:Tiny room with depressing colours, only one toilette available and you had to wait

Review 90:Clean room and bathroom, comfortable bed, wifi ok, close to the center, very helpful staff

Review 91:Nothing to declare!

Review 92:Clean, well organized and just 5 min walk from the harbour and the market place. The staff was friendly.Kitchen on every floor but with really the basics.Toilets and showers were clean and with a great view outside and birds singing in speakers while you were doing your stuff inside :) .WI-FI connection is good. Overall I recommend this hostel for the coupels and who wants to visit the city.

Review 93:The staff are great and can help with information on the local sights and transport links. The free sauna is also worth trying, it's a very relaxing start to the day. I chose one of the sound proofed rooms and had a great nights sleep.

Review 94:It was filled with old people, families and a school group but I also went in May which is not peak time. I got a bit lonely because there was no one there to hang out with

Review 95:It was very close to everything. The bathrooms were clean. The single room with a shared bathroom was quite a good size it had a desk and a single bed and a good amount of cupboards.

Review 96:Wi-fi was free but kept cutting off. They didn't serve porridge anymore on breakfast and still charged 9€. Loyalty card will only get stamped if you book directly from them

Review 97:Staff and location

Review 98:I saw the toilets sometimes dirty and doubt if they are cleaned/taken care of everyday -actually the soap was not supplied for a few days. Some times I heard noise of running from the upstairs and on the same floor.

Review 99:Free morning sauna and the great reception staff

Review 100:- Some rooms might be less pleasant as they have cracks in walls.....which probably make you hear almost every single word people from your next door room speak. (And if they are not nice...hah!)

Review 101:- It´s very easy to travel to/from the airport/city centre. Rooms are clean, even cleaner than some expensive hotels.- FREEE luggage room - There´s a lift, so I didn´t have to climb the stairs carrying my heavy backpacks. - Towels and hair dryer (in women´s bathrooms) are provided. - There´s a kitchen for each floor, which is quite well-equipped-- big fridge, stove, dishes, forks, knives, chopping block, detergent etc... (no toaster or oven, though). - Free `almost traditional´ morning sauna from 06h30-09h30 is the best part. I put `almost traditional´ in front of it because there were no birch branches haha. - Receptionists were nice (how I love Finns!). I lost my watch and they were very keen to help me find it. *** This is youth hostel, so don´t expect your room to be so spacious you can play a hula hoop in it (you can do some yoga though...but who cares, there´s a free morning sauna to relax! :D). Also don´t expect mattresses and pillows to be super soft, super comfy like your home or five-star hotels. ***

Review 102:Aside from the price which it's too high just like in every other place in Helsinki, there is only one thing that drives me crazy every time I stay there: you have to make your bed yourself. Already made bed is not too much to ask tbh for 50 euro per night

Review 103:The location is just great, literally 10 min of walk from the city center. The staff is very nice. The bathroom is clean and kinda funny: you hear birds while doing your stuff :-) Also now the wifi is finally free.

Review 104:It's not a typical hostel, more like a dockland area with a cheap hotel, at least at the 3rd floor where we had a twin room. Only few young travellers, rather some eastern european mid-forty guys which were probably working somehwhere around. Further there was no common room to use after 11pm, but the rooms are very clairaudient which lead so some trouble.

Review 105:It was of a cleanliness which was okay.

Review 106:corridors noisy and no one solved the someone smoking issue which bothered me, wi-fi wasn't great and bathrooms werent always clean

Review 107:easy to get to city centre

Review 108:Everything was awesome!

Review 109:They even let us stay for an extra couple of hours because our flight was late in the afternoon... The cafe is great and the wifi is excellent !! The washrooms are clean and very well maintained ...must stay for all travelers !!!

Review 110:Male and female bathrooms are separated, however, each one has only 2 toilets and 3 showers for the entire corridor with about 30 double rooms.

Review 111:Very attentive staffs and many facilities (sauna, kitchen, restaurant, breakfast, beverage machines, etc).

Review 112:-extremely thin walls (can hear EVERYTHING in the rooms beside you... not just loud talking but also people moving around, plugging things in, etc.) - we were given the option to "upgrade" to a better room for 5 euros a night that had thicker walls (according to reception) so this may be an option to consider if you're sensitive to noise at night -bathrooms were older and sometimes smelled like sewage (also not a lot of privacy in the showers as doors are half sized and there is no real area to change) -reception was not overly accommodating with suggestions for what to do in area/activities like you would expect from a good hostel -wifi was NOT great (would cut out frequently or be slow in the evenings when other people were using it)

Review 113:-great location (about 15 minute walk to major sights, a nice neighbourhood, close to grocery store and right beside the tram stop) -free sauna in the mornings - modern and clean -large, spacious rooms (twin double included large table, chairs, huge storage cabinets, big windows) -kitchens on each floor that were decently equipped (hot plates, fridge space to rent, cooking utensils)

Review 114:The most disappointing thing for me was the absence of kitchen knives and more than modest kitchen equipment -- it was problematic to slice cheese even. The common area/kitchen didn't look as a cosy place at all -- though it was cleaned daily, it anyway seemed dirty, as well as the curtains it my room. But it may be only the situation on the floor I lived, don't know anything about the others.

Review 115:Friendly personnel, free of charge luggage room, very comfortable beds, birds' singing at the WC :)

Review 116:Single room up floor(s) was fine for more mature traveller. (staff suggested that) It was peaceful and clean place comparing to many european hostels. Will return! Kari, Joensuu

Review 117:As a solo traveler without a car, it was brilliant that the hostel was right on a tram line that went to the centre of Helsinki. I also loved the morning sauna and the cleanliness of the bathrooms. The lady working at the reception desk was extremely helpful and very friendly and helped me navigate Helsinki and gave great recommendations for what to see, do and eat.

Review 118:Unfortunately (despite pointing out I wanted a quiet room) I was put up on a floor with a school class. My room was right in the middle and there was constant noise on the hall. Rooms are definetely not soundproof like claimed! Only 2 toilets on a floor with about 40 (!) rooms! Only one of those toilets had a working lock too. Not recommended for a business stay.

Review 119:Free Wifi, Luggage Storage room

Review 120:No free wifi Kitchen is too simple

Review 121:Room is spacious fair location(at least can reach here by one tram(4/4T) from railway station) Lift for luggage

Review 122:The hostel has very thin walls, so it is more than noisy. We couldn't sleep, because the guys in the next room keep talking. There was no party there, just two people haaving a convesation, but at 2.00 we asked them to stop, because it was impossible to sleep. So, if you are a heavy-sleeper, than it will be acceptable for you. In my case - never again, sorry.

Review 123:The location is okay, it took us 20 minutes on foot from the main railway station. The room was clean, as well as the bathroom.

Review 124:Bad coffey. Poor and tasteless buffet breakfast. Wi-Fi requiring expensive payment of 2 euro per day. Almost everything for additional service fee.

Review 125:Free morning sauna (Finnish bath). Close to the centre of Helsinki - nice walking. Tram station is straight by the hostel.

Review 126:- no free wifi anywhere in the hostel - according to the reservation I should have movie channels included, but when I searched for movie on the TV they all ask for some charge to my room rate, so kind of confusing...

Review 127:- location: it's quite close to the tram station, and also to some of the tourist attraction [Esplanade & Uspenski Cathedral (Uspenskin Katedraali)]. - facilities: kitchen has all the basic utensils you need; washroom and shower room are ok - rooms are quite sound proof (only hear people closing the doors)

Review 128:i won't say it's a place you must to visit and stay but it's worth of every penny you spend to choose this hostel to stay. Although we only stayed one night here, I would like to say it's beyond my expectation as a hostel:) However, the location is a bit far from the center.

Review 129:We are family of six with heavy luggages,it is only a 5 minutes walk to the hostel when we came back from Tallinn by viking line cruise and we can have a good rest s at night.

Review 130:Kitchen on each floor are different standard. We stayed in 3rd floor and the kitchen was not well equipped. Limited utensils to use. Toilet on the floor are not enof. No free wifi only free sauna. Would be good to hv free wifi which commonly needed.

Review 131:Price per night is very cheap. Location is easily accessible via tram as well as walking distance to center.

Review 132:The public toilet is dirty and seems nobody did the cleaning.

Review 133:Not bunk beds in YHA! Everyone can get his single bed and closet in a comfortable space. The location is convient and near the No.4 bus stop.

Review 134:Speed and signal strength of wifi internet

Review 135:Wifi facility Cleanliness with kitchen facilities Cooperative staff And aboveall sauna makes stay memorable here

Review 136:Everything, from the rooms to the corridors, looked like a (nordic) prision. The rooms and some of the common areas could use a bit of deep cleaning.

Review 137:The location is very central, and convenient to see the city.

Review 138:Our room floor was a bit dirty...the walls were sticky/dusty with grime on the edges. The shelves were dusty. The top bed blanket looked and felt musky, like it hadn't been cleaned for months (which is probably done for economical reasons like in most hostels as I work in some). Pillows were old, flat, shapeless and needed replacing. Heating in the room could not be adjusted, the room was mostly a little on the cold side. No 'free food' area for guests to leave for other guests to use.

Review 139:The bathroom shower rooms are like new; great washroom and clean toilets. The area is quiet and overlooks the port. Free Wifi if you're a YHA member. Towels and linen supplied. Reception is 24 hours and they are relatively friendly/helpful. Free sauna but we didn't use it. Great storage space and cupboards in the room. Lots of power points.

Review 140:- No free wifi, even the room price is not cheap.

Review 141:- Good location. - Friendly staff. - Toilet and shower are very clean. - Well equipment in the kitchen.
