Reviews for Colonial Inn

Review 1:The Inn & rooms were recently remodeled & clean. Our room was lovely with a view of the ocean & the lobby was decorated beautifully, with nice touches like fresh cut flowers. The staff were very attentive to our needs & the breakfast & fresh baked cookies in the afternoon were great.

Review 2:Well they had no local information for the surrounding area in the room, bathroom hair dry could not be used because the electrical unit was put in upside down, so had to use a living room plug that had no mirror. Mirror was on top of the plug in the living room. So couldn't use that one. No light by the phone. over head light over the sink had 3 bulbs 2 out when we got there third one went out last day. Other then that it was nice place.

Review 3:really did like everything, great spot

Review 4:This wasn't a deal breaker, but we thought the property was on the actual waterfront (based from photos) and it is not. It is close to everything and has a great location though. Cont. breakfast wasn't the best I've ever had, but was good enough. Dusty headboard and cracked up lampshade. Again, not deal breakers, but shouldn't be there given what we paid. Top of the line AC, but it didn't cool down until the next morning as it was placed in an odd location in the room.

Review 5:The bathroom (odd as that sounds) was really nice! Beautiful hardwoods floors, comfy bed and VERY clean! We loved it. Great staff.

Review 6:Floors are uneven to the point of making you lose your balance! Floors are old and creak! If you are not on the top floor...you may spend the entire "sleepless" night listening to the neighbor above you. I could even hear through the ceiling, that person snoring! Just my luck to get someone that did not go to bed until well after midnight!

Review 7:The property is beautiful, nicely appointed. Comfortable beds, very nice furnishings. Bath rooms are super nice! Love the location. Staff is very nice and helpful.

Review 8:The breakfast area is a bit tight although you can take your breakfast into the lobby/sitting area or outside.

Review 9:The whole inn has been recently updated. The rooms are a nice size, well appointed and very clean. Staff is great. Included breakfast has good healthy and fresh selection. The Inn is conveniently located to Perkins Cove, the Marginal Way and local shops and restaurants.

Review 10:breakfast was a little boring....same thing every day....could use a little more parking

Review 11:Great location....friendly staff....nothing fancy but good clean rooms

Review 12:parking and price Also, they did not inform us that we would be in back building with stairs and no view when we registered.

Review 13:Clean, quiet, great location welcoming lobby area

Review 14:The suite we paid for by internet photo was not what we ended up with, a typical practice of deception for a photo shoot. The property is clean but the rooms are drab and dreary with no color or curtains. The building is old and the floors are twisted so you're either walking uphill or down, and that's just in your room. Too many other gorgeous places to stay in Ogunquit for the same price.

Review 15:The receptionist was awesome and tried to improved our accommodations once we saw our original room.

Review 16:Breakfast was so so but not great. No eggs Mostly cereal. For over 200 dollars per night I would have expected a really nice breakfast.

Review 17:Close to beach and walkway. Rooms very clean and staff very friendly.

Review 18:Great Location, very friendly staff, very flexible and helpful. Rooms are immaculate, comfortable and simply decorated. Prime location very close to the Marginal Way

Review 19:A small table would be more suitable for room arrangement, rather than the hassock.

Review 20:Very Clean and comfortable. Pleasant and helpful staff. Overall we had a most pleasant stay.

Review 21:Very comfortable and homey. Breakfast was very good. We received free passes to the local art museum. Staff was there to answer questions about places to go to of interest in the area. Afternoon coffee, hot cider and homemade cookies were in the lobby for us every afternoon

Review 22:Nothing, everything was great

Review 23:Everything was great. The room was clean and beautiful. The breakfast was delicious and included home made oatmeal and muffins, cut up fresh pineapple and melons (which you don't find at most hotels breakfasts). The staff were wonderful and the hot apple cider in the lobby was great on a cool fall evening.

Review 24:Breakfast room very cramped. Need smaller armless chairs. Can go elsewhere in the building or outside if weather permits

Review 25:Quaint hotel beautifully located in quintessentially perfect coastal Maine town. Walk to everything.

Review 26:Ice machine inconvenient. Room 101 climate control was terrible, we were uncomfortably cold both nights of our stay.

Review 27:Comfortable bed, clean, courteous and helpful staff.

Review 28:Breakfast was mediocre and the room too small for any comfort

Review 29:Staff was excellent and extremely helpful. We had a superior king room whitch we enjoyed immensely. The location was terrific and made a lot of Ogunquit very walkable from the inn.

Review 30:The Inn is bright and cheerful, the Staff, very gracious. The bed in our room was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in while traveling. We will definitely stay here again!

Review 31:The condenser from the refrigerator was loud at times and actually woke me from sleep both nights. Yikes! Did report it but nothing changed and no reports of what could or couldn't be done. A feed back would have been nice.

Review 32:The location, amenities including breakfast, refrigerator, hot tub and pool.

Review 33:There was a lingering smell of something (spilled milk?) in our room. Luckily, it wasn't overpowering; we kept the windows open and used some freshener.

Review 34:The inn is located on the main thoroughfare but far enough away from the main part of town as to be very quiet. The porch is a lovely place to enjoy a cool glass of water and a snack while people watching.

Review 35:got back around 11PM and found one parking space left - but not near our room where we were instructed to park. breakfast was not really appealing. couldn't find how to turn on the jets in the hot tub - no signs.

Review 36:arrived early - room was ready. Room was comfortable and clean. Staff was very friendly.

Review 37:The only one could ask more of here is to be directly on the ocean. It is two minute walk, however, so it is hard to complain.

Review 38:Beautiful town, short walk to beach and center of town, very comfortable room, and pleasant staff

Review 39:Nice beach-style decor, modern bathroom fixtures. Provision of free coffee, ice water and cookies in lobby; the coffee and cookies are very good and homemade. Location allows walking access to many shops and restaurants , a 15 minute walk to Ogunquit Beach, 5 minute walk to Marginal Way. Nice porch with comfortable seating.

Review 40:Not a bad experience, but it would be nice if there was a nice area to sit out in the evenings. They had seating around the porch, but it would be nice to have some space besides the pool

Review 41:really nice room, good location (walk to town, walk to beach, Marginal Way a block behind it), clean and a really nice Inn

Review 42:Parking was a little tough. There was no hotel. I was unable to connect to the wi-fi. I have a company phone with unlimited data, so I didn't bother complaining.

Review 43:The location was great. Central to all parts of town. The staff was very friendly.

Review 44:Nothing

Review 45:Fabulous helpful staff - in particular Augusta who couldn't have been more helpful with arrival and our toddler. Great experience and would definitely go back. Thank you.

Review 46:My room was near a noisy stairway. The TV was broken. The free breakfast was a joke. No direct access to marginal way. No in room safe. Not worth $650 for a weekend.

Review 47:The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Free wifi.

Review 48:Rm 102 had too much light coming into the room at night with shades down, due to lighting on the porch that was not dimmed; mostly carbs for breakfast items

Review 49:AC location blew it right onto the bed, outlet in bathroom was installed upside down (cant plug anything into it), other outlets blocked by artwork. Hot tub closed down too early. Wifi was practically useless.

Review 50:Proximity to the marginal way was good. Rooms spacious and clean, nice areas to unwind and relax throughout the main building, breakfast was good but got a little monotonous towards the end of our stay.

Review 51:Front stairway could be cleaned up and landscaped. Breakfast room was very crowded and menu the same everyday

Review 52:Room very comfortable. Great location. Staff helpful

Review 53:They did try to charge us more than the amount we had thru bookings. They adjusted the difference when we got there. They could improve the quality of the Danish and a couple of choices of cereal.

Review 54:The staff was very good. And the bed very comfortable

Review 55:It is a long walk to the water, but close to the bustle of the town.

Review 56:Location in town was convenient, but not near enough to the water.Breakfast was good.Staff was great !

Review 57:I feel like you get the impression you will stay in the beautiful yellow building shown. However, we were in a separate back building. It was totally fine and well decorated and clean.

Review 58:The location was perfect! Short walk to beach, restaurants and town. Pool and hot tub were outside and very clean. Parking was not an issue.

Review 59:Could not connect to the wifi but staff did offer to help. No fridge in our room

Review 60:Spacious room lemon water comfortable chairs on porches variety of breakfast offerings. Friendly staff.

Review 61:They advertise that they have a bar but it isn't what you would expect. Need to place orders in advance to get drinks, not a typical bar with a bartender. Breakfast- never had bananas and need more staff to refill items when they empty.

Review 62:Location couldn't have been more ideal-halfway between Perkins Cove and downtown area. Loved the beach themed colors and decor. Modern bathroom and furniture in room. Wrap around porch with rocking chairs and other seating areas was great for relaxing. Outdoor cafe style eating area for breakfast was a plus too.

Review 63:I like the charm of the Colonial Inn. The porch is a nice place to just sit and relax. This was my second stay at the Colonial Inn. Brought my adult daughters and their spouses this time. Planning on returning next fall with my husband.

Review 64:The walk to the beach is about 10 minutes from the Inn and with young children it could be challenging. Next trip instead of walking with the kids I think we would grab the Trolly.

Review 65:Very friendly atmosphere with staff and guests! A very relaxing atmosphere. We parked our car and were in walking distance to all the shopping and restaurants.

Review 66:supplies for breakfast a bit hit and miss. One day they had things next day not. Overall breakfast was ok

Review 67:Located between beach and Perkins Cove. Nice walk to either. Good costal path

Review 68:The in-room coffee was really terrible. For the price we paid, it was kind of a bummer to not have good stuff.

Review 69:The beds were really comfortable, the room was spacious and clean. We didn't have a view of the ocean from the East Building, but we were not expecting that. The breakfast had some local foods like Greek yogurt from Vermont and the most fresh and delicious croissants I have ever tasted!

Review 70:The room was great, bright and clean. The folks running the Inn were very professional and yet warm and inviting. We had walking access to lots of exciting things to do.

Review 71:There was nothing we disliked; we completely enjoyed out stay.

Review 72:The staff was welcoming and very attentive. The room was, very clean, spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. The Inn is walking distance to everything in Ogunquit. Breakfast was simple and delicious.

Review 73:The location wasn't the best (no entrance to Marginal Way), but not a bad walk to the beach. I wish the rooms had decks--but realize this was an INN (just personal preference).

Review 74:Although the room was small, the bed and pillows were super comfy and the bathroom was nice and big. We liked sitting on the front deck in rockers and we utilized the pool and hot tub.

Review 75:The rooms were small and nothing speciahl. My travel mate is a cigar smoker and there really was no comfortable spot to sit and relax to enjoy smoking it.

Review 76:The staff was very kind and helpful.

Review 77:No refig in room. Also, despite smelling baking cookies most days, they were only offered once in a 3 day stay. Also no ice maker, had to ask at desk.

Review 78:Very clean, loved front porch

Review 79:Ino real water views .

Review 80:Charming inn with very helpful staff . We enjoyed 3 days in an immaculate comfortable room in the inn itself . We enjoyed the location . The inn is centrally located on Shore Rd and is a brief walk to town, beach , and marginal way. Also enjoyed sitting on the large porch and by the pool .

Review 81:Nothing to dislike

Review 82:We loved the location - 5 minutes from the town and 15 mins from Perkins Cove. Our room was huge and beautifully decorated: the bathroom was perfect.

Review 83:Really nothing.

Review 84:This hotel has the charm of an other era but everything is beautifully renovated and perfectly modern. I loved the three vases of fresh flowers in the lobby. We sat on the wrap around porch all afternoon. Very peaceful. The breakfast was very nice with a variety of selections. The tables outside were a treat with lovely landscaping.

Review 85:Stayed in east building and wouldn't recommend it. Spotty wifi. Could not use provided hair dryer because outlet in bathroom up against the wall does not allow for it to be plugged in. No mirrors in bedroom.

Review 86:Great staff, very comfy beds and pillows. Very clean. Good location. Pool and hot tub. Nice included bathroom.

Review 87:The room does not have many updates outlets and none that were convenient to bedside tables. Would have preferred a full length mirror in the room.

Review 88:Staff was helpful upon check in and checkout. The room was comfortable for the stay.

Review 89:The breakfast room was small and oddly situated in a dark room. It would have been nicer in a more open sunlit spot.

Review 90:Close to the Marginal Way coastal walking path, and just a 5 minute walk to downtown area. Even close enough to walk to the beach. The room was pristine and well decorated in cool ocean colors.

Review 91:We had the "do not disturb" sign up. Housekeeper came in and threw out full unopened drinks.

Review 92:The room was very up to date and comfortable. Nice corner room with lots of windows.

Review 93:very very clean room and bathroom. staff were very courteous. easy walk to everything nice common area to relax and listening to the music at nite . its great to come back and have iced water with lime ready . cookies were a treat.

Review 94:The wi-fi was difficult to connect to and was quite slow.

Review 95:The room décor was pleasant and comfortable. We enjoyed having two comfortable chairs in the room and the mattress was great.

Review 96:The staff at the hotel was excellent. They were kind and helpful and friendly. The bed was very comfortable. The accommodations were clean and the view from our room was beautiful. I would go back here in a second.

Review 97:No in house dining for lunch, dinner, or room service.

Review 98:Easy access to downtown and Perkins Cove. Staff was very helpful in recommending restaurants to eat at.

Review 99:Doesn't really have a sea view.

Review 100:We were very pleased with the relaxing appearnace and layout of the Colonial Inn. The porch and reception area were very well appointed and tastefully decorated. We enjoyed the spiced tea and wtaer stand in reception area. The room was nicely decorated. Bed was comfortable.

Review 101:EVERYTHING The service was extraordinary and pleasant, The rooms are spacious and the bed was truly the best I ever slept on, in any hotel. Better than home.

Review 102:Can't think of anything that I didn't like.

Review 103:Staff was so helpful, professional, knowledgeable and willing to take the extra step to help. The room was clean, bed comfortable, sitting room on first floor was inviting and a very relaxing place to be. Coffee, tea, and ice water was available 24 hrs a day with muffins or cookies to snack on. Breakfast had many food choices, satisfying an array of appetites from adults to children. I would recommend The Colonial Inn to anyone who is traveling to Ogunquit, Maine. We will definitely return for future visits. Thank you for making our vacation a memorable one.

Review 104:There were a lot of stairs and I have trouble with them so it was hard for me to get around. One of the chairs in our room was broken.

Review 105:It was close to the shops and the Marginal Way. It was quaint and the bed was comfortable.

Review 106:The breakfast room was very basic and not big enough. Although the continental breakfast was quite good, wasn't keen on paper cups, dishes, plates etc.

Review 107:Excellent room.

Review 108:A few clouds in the sky on the day of departure!

Review 109:Welcome upon arrival at the reception and everything that followed! We had one of our best sleeps of the year at the Colonial Inn!

Review 110:The continental breakfast was OK, just not a lot to choose from and the dining area is quite small.

Review 111:My husband and I spent a weekend at the Colonial Inn and we couldn't have had a more pleasant stay, it was much nicer than staying in a hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable, clean, and beautifully decorated. Enjoyed the hot spiced apple cider and cookies in the afternoon. We certainly look forward to coming back next year.

Review 112:The complimentary breakfast could be improved by hot cooked items available.

Review 113:This hotel was the best we stayed in on our recent tour of the New England States. Great location + fantastic staff + reasonable cost made for a perfect getaway. Sylvia on the front desk went the extra mile to ensure our stay was fantastic. The hotel building and facilities were of the highest order, only exceeded by great staff. I thoroughly recommend this hotel only 100 yards from the ocean.

Review 114:4 Adult Gals enjoyed two nights at the Colonial Inn... walking distance to downtown, Perkins Cove, the Marginal Way... and, a short drive to the Ogunquit Theatre... perfect location to allow us to see everything on our list this trip!

Review 115:Ogunquit's oldest inn remodeled to retain the charm of yesteryear with the decor and conveniences travelers today demand. Wish we could have spent more time there. Welcoming, professional and friendly staff assure a comfortable stay.

Review 116:The breakfast room was so disappointing!!!! Plastic cutlery plates etc surely for the money one pays they could offer a better breakfast or no breakfast then one could eat at a coffee shop. At least with crockery and proper cutlery. We are over these sort of facilities.

Review 117:The Manager was very welcoming and recommended a place for dinner.

Review 118:Glass shelf over sink prohibited plugging in hair dryer (as least I wasn't able to do it)

Review 119:All the latest horns and whistles in bathroom fixtures and bedrm design & decor'. Beautiful--every amenity provided!

Review 120:Staff was excellent and the hotel was right in the heart of it all within walking distance to the shops on main street, the marginal way and perkins cove.the nice thing about that is once you parked your vehicle it could stay there until the day you checked out .The hotel was older than some of the others there but it has a lot of charm.

Review 121:Mostly that it is difficult to get around Ogunquit with the crowds but that is not the fault of the hotel. Cannot imagine summer in Ogunquit.

Review 122:We were near a lot of lovely places to see such as the Marginal Way, the trolley stops, not far from Perkins Point or the Ogunquit shopping area. The staff was very nice and accommodating on the Saturday night we got there, in the rain. The breakfast was adequate. There were a few thundering hooves overhead but not enough to disturb us, really.

Review 123:The colonial inn is a wonderful hotel. Beautifully decorated and centrally located. Our room on the third floor had a wonderful view of the ocean. We will definitely be back. The staff was great too!

Review 124:Our room was beatutiful and very well cleaned but the only thing we can recomend are some sort of shades as the light from the porch bled through the curtains and into the room all night.

Review 125:the location was very convenient. Easy access to the main part of town and a easy walk to Perkins cove . The staff was very friendly and very helpful. the Lobby area was very comfortable, clean and relaxing.

Review 126:The General Manager is the most delightful host we have ever met, she could not do enough for us, even to the bottle of wine delivered on my birthday! Never had this happen before. The Inn is spectacular and the staff are the most helpful, cheerful people we have ever encountered. We will be back and we are bringing our family too.

Review 127:Room was way overpriced for the holiday weekend, was very plain, and had a strong moldy smell, especially the bathroom. We were on an extended vacation that covered several states as well as other cities in Maine, and this room was on the lower value spectrum. Though I wouldn't rule out staying here again, I would spend more time researching other places first.

Review 128:Property is centrally located close to the Marginal Way, Perkins Cove, and downtown and has a comfortable lobby with a piano. Our room separate from the main building was spacious. Free breakfast, though not remarkable, can be enjoyed on a nice patio.

Review 129:That we could only stay three days.

Review 130:The cozy room with partial view of the ocean plus looking out at Shore Road was ideal. A modern bathroom with new shower, fixtures and large size was an unexpected bonus. The lounge area with colorful fresh flowers, comfortable couches and a grand piano proved to be a magnet. The wrap-around porch with gliders and rocking chairs presented an attractive place to read and people watch those strolling past. The location of the inn couldn't be better situated. It's about halfway between Perkins Cove and Ogunquit Village, less than five minutes walk from Marginal Way and a direct stop on the trolley line. The breakfast room was clean and handy with an option to eat on the tables outside.

Review 131:Staff did not pay attention to details. Seem to need to ask for everything. Coffee in lobby was empty most of the time I was there. No directions to acquire ice. One of the rooms had the fire alarm hanging out of the ceiling and it went off while someone was showering. House keeping in the main building replaced towels but did not really make up the room until asked to complete. Breakfast was ok, but not great.

Review 132:Location and the charming feel. Staff was pleasant.

Review 133:Breakfast was really not up to par...very strange in an otherwise verygood hotel..self service only, coffee + juices ok, but industry bagels +2 jams (packed in tiny plastic portion boxes with rip-open tops) and avery bland peanut butter (also in plastic boxes)...was announced until10am, service started to clean up at 9:50. That really needsimproving...

Review 134:Everything else :-)
