Reviews for Columbia Inn
Review 1:Prison-quality room; rude, unfriendly, unprofessional owners (again, prison-quality). Very disappointing since I have been visiting Astoria for many, many years. I will stick with my old standby, the Riverwalk Inn, from now on!
Review 2:Location
Review 3:This time of year (I guess) it's a part time deal. The housekeeping staff is the (just turned) 16 year old kid of the manager. Did not show up at all one day. No one there in the evenings or early mornings. Credit card machine does not work much of the time according to the front desk person. takes a long time to check in. Road noise.
Review 4:These were fairly minor... The toilet was very loud when flushed. The shower curtain did not keep water inside the shower so we had to mop up excess water from floor. They obviously need to replace the shower curtain with a sturdier type.
Review 5:Room was clean, bed and pillows were very comfortable. Shower had a spa type head and was very relaxing. Nice deck with view of marina. Breakfast provided.
Review 6:Could be cleaner, there were cobwebs in the corners and the pillows were not too great. Spare pillows would be good.
Review 7:Friendly staff and key cards for the doors are good. Good location, and great value.
Review 8:The staff was not friendly, and a few instances, actually rude.
Review 9:The location is great, walking distance from downtown Astoria and close to many good restaurants. The hotel was clean and quiet, and the price was reasonable.
Review 10:The room was very dark unable to open curtain ..windows looked unto parking lot... There was odor in the room from cleaning products ..quite unpleasant smell
Review 11:Easy to find off highway..place to sleep
Review 12:Convenient location in the Main Street. Although on the Main Street the rooms were quiet. Judging from the number of vehicles parked there it was well known.
Review 13:Only drawback - like almost anything commercial in Astoria - it's on Hwy 30 (busy, busy, busy)
Review 14:convenient location, room was clean and very functional
Review 15:We heard a lot of traffic noise this time so we will just get a room on the back our next trip down.
Review 16:This motel is within walking distance of nearly everything we want to do when we get to Astoria. We hardly ever move the car after we get there.
Review 17:none
Review 18:We stay there during the fishing season mostly and they helped us with getting our room and resedual when we have to. Never any problem, they are very friendly and helpful.
Review 19:This place has absolutely no frills, but that's not what I was looking for.
Review 20:Ultra clean. Friendly, helpful staff. On the main drag of Astoria, so it's convenient to any venue you want. Wi-fi was very powerful.
Review 21:road noise and thin walls. person next to me turned on the tv in the middle of the night. admittedly it was really low, but I could still hear it.
Review 22:the staff and the cleanliness of the room.
Review 23:Much more than I expected for the price. After a hard but successful day of fishing, I was able to relax in a quiet environment and enjoy the wi-fi on my iPad. No worries here, matey, it was all good
Review 24:everything was fine. expect when I turned on the water to take a shower water was not clean for the first couple of seconds don't know if the pipes or what.
Review 25:free parking
Review 26:No bad experience at all--my husband was apprehensive about the location, but he said we can stay here again next year!
Review 27:Comfortable room with refrigerator, clean, very reasonable!
Review 28:There were people "tail-gating" in the small parking lot, which was noisy. Some people got up early (4:30 AM) in the neighboring room and the walls are very thin so they woke us up, then started their large truck engine and revved it a few times before leaving.
Review 29:Excellent location on Hwy 30, within walking distance of restaurants, museums, shops and other activities. The room was as expected at this price, comfortable but not fancy.
Review 30:We needed a place to stay while we fished Bouy 10. We were not picky. It's close to marinas. Comfortable, lean, good value. Second time we have stayed here. Will stay again next fishing trip
Review 31:It needs a coffee pot not instant coffee and getting out of the parking lot was hard due to heavy traffic
Review 32:Price and the front counter person was helpful
Review 33:There's some terribly loud traffic out in front from the fact that it's a main thru-way, including much truck traffic, but our room was set back and with the windows closed, it was not a bother.
Review 34:Easy to locate on a busy hwy thru town. The room we had was large, comfortable and clean. It's within walking distance of places to eat, just across the street from the maritime museum, and a short drive to many interesting attractions.
Review 35:Clean for the most part but the bedspread had a large blood stain on it (which we didn't discover until the next morning ; (
Review 36:Staff were very nice...stayed up late for us to arrive.
Review 37:Outside the office there was a stuffed trash can. There was no place for trash in the rooms besides the tiny bathroom trash so if you have food or something that you need to throw away you have to either use the dirty one outside or look for a public one
Review 38:Nice, clean, cozy, felt very safe.
Review 39:Water pressure poor, windows to open were poor, hot water slow, no coffee pot, volume on TV inadequate, a lot of noise from traffic
Review 40:TV didn't work and young man who worked at facility did great job correcting problems, room was clean, central location to everything
Review 41:The lighting was all cfl and very harsh. The windows face the parking lot and they don't have sheers, so we had to keep the curtains closed. In-room coffee is instant, heated in a microwave.
Review 42:The room, bed and bath were all very clean and relatively quiet. The staff was friendly and efficient. Air conditioning worked well.
Review 43:They totally ripped me off, were very unprofessional and the manager and her husband were playing at the car the whole time instead of being in the building they had friends come and visit them and they were not attentive everything was broken in the room and nonfunctional it looked like it was put together was super glue and the minute you touched anything it broke
Review 44:The bed was very firm. The traffic noise from the hotel was awful. Especially when it's a main road with several semi's driving by. If it was just cars, it would be ok, but it seemed to be all the time. Making it difficult to sleep in beyond 6 a.m. I would suggest a white noise machine or similar to help drown out the noise.
Review 45:Very clean, well presented. Provided the basic needs. Staff friendly. Covered parking. Inexpensive. Close to bridge. Despite the negative, I would still recommend this hotel.
Review 46:Dirty lamps/shades, carpet dirty in the corners. Uncomfortable pillows. Bedspread was too small for bed.
Review 47:Convenient to downtown. Newer bathroom.
Review 48:a little bit noisy, next to the street, the traffic gets less at night though,
Review 49:It was great location, walking distance to the cafes, restaurants, river and Marine museum very clean and nice staff
Review 50:Very dated decor. Instant coffee in room but Macdonalds is very close. Overpriced.
Review 51:Staff were friendly and helpful. Right beside the main road but we didn't hear any traffic noise.
Review 52:No coffee making facilities except a microwave. Had to put tea/coffee in mug and heat in microwave Under the bed,,,,, had NOT been cleaned for ?????????????????/
Review 53:Good location. River walk and trolley just across the road. Convenient for Downtown. Restaurants nearby. New bathroom fixtures, basic but value for money. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 54:Beds comfortable. Room small and gets stuffy fast. Air conditioner worked great. Clean. No coffee pot, just cups and packages of instant coffee to heat in microwave.
Review 55:No staff late evening (10PM) No coat hangers provided No room cleaning done on 2 day stay Lots of mosquitoes
Review 56:Nice firm regular spring bed Bathtub Air conditioning
Review 57:Lamp needed repair. We weren't given a password to get wifi.
Review 58:New bathroom was clean and great shower. Flat screen TV and good bed. Hard to beat price. Good restaurant a block away.
Review 59:No coffee maker in the room and the office did not open till 8:30 so no coffee available till then. No hairdryer in the room.
Review 60:It is in walking distance to everything downtown. The people in the office were friendly and efficient. For being right on the highway, the rooms were fairly quiet.
Review 61:My girlfriend went to pick up a key while I was at work. The desk clerk was rude, and made statements that made her very uncomfortable. She did not feel safe staying there. We stayed at a different hotel in town.
Review 62:Nothing. Chose to not stay there.
Review 63:We were in room 19 at far end, and WiFi was patchy to non existent. Corner rooms are a bit dark too. Road also pretty busy.
Review 64:Bathroom was new and clean which was great, and the bed was comfy.
Review 65:The customer service was horrible, the people were mean and not friendly when asked for help. The place smelled like meth had be smoked in my room, the office smelled so bad I could barely stand it
Review 66:It was cheap...
Review 67:Frig did not work. They locked us out after 1st day even though I paid for two. Man in check in did not know what he was doing. Room smelled of tobacco even though was a non smoking room. The second room my daughter was in was even more smelly like cigarettes and gave her asthma probs. Blankets had cigarette burns in them in both rooms.
Review 68:The town we were in and location.
Review 69:It is an older building, so as expected, there were almost no available outlets in the room. I'd recommend bringing an extension cord or surge strip.
Review 70:Stay here if all you need is a decent bed and a decent shower, while being a relatively close walking distance to downtown the Astoria. The room was small and simple, but the simple bathroom was shockingly clean and looks pretty new.
Review 71:heater sounded like a garbage truck in the room. water took 4 minutes to get warm. sink almost over the toilet. ice from the ice machine was dirty.
Review 72:the wifi was ok
Review 73:it was obvious they only do cursory cleaning. There was still a screw in the window track from when the window was installed, i.e. no one ever wiped down the windows.
Review 74:reasonable price close to downtown
Review 75:The guy who checked me in couldn't work the card reader.... yelled for his girlfriend who he said ran the place,,,, she would not come out and take care of things.... he finally got it to work,.... very disappointed with the staff this trip.
Review 76:everything except the guy who checked me in.... and I don't believe he was even an employee,,,, said his girlfriend ran the place.
Review 77:Lots of road noise. Very off-hand attitude from the front desk staff, didn't seem particularly welcoming or interested. Room was not serviced for our second night, so no coffee, no clean towels or toiletries. Coffee making facilities are misleading - 2 cups and a microwave not really coffee making facilities in my opinion!
Review 78:Good location close to downtown. Covered parking. Good size room. Recently refurbished bathroom.
Review 79:No hot water when we first got there. Did come on later.
Review 80:Close to bridge so we could do our walk and then get back and take a shower before leaving for home.
Review 81:The room needs a couple clothing hooks inside the bathroom door. Much less or no air freshener product would have been appreciated; the scent level was eye-watering. Although Columbia Inn is located on a very busy street, access to core area is convenient. The company can't change/control traffic but the noise factor can affect sleep quality... If you're a light sleeper this may not be an ideal location.
Review 82:Columbia Inn is reasonably priced and conveniently close to the city center. Kitchen facilities = micro and mini-refrigerator; didn't need or want a full kitchen facility. The bed was very comfortable.
Review 83:Was very pleased with the room. It's been remodeled and made it much nicer than I thought it would be. Location was good a block from the boardwalk.
Review 84:The bed was a bit soft and water pressure below average
Review 85:Got all you need while you are on your way. The most important - it is cleaned and well located and maintained
Review 86:Sink clogged, full of water All of your stuff smells like smoke when you go home 10% off coupon has to be printed and turned in, can't show it on cell phone Management did not work with us "Smokefree" rooms not smokefree Loud, right on busy road
Review 87:Windows opened to air it out Bathroom re-modled Bed ok
Review 88:Although clean on arrival, the rooms were not cleaned during our 3-day stay and we had to ask for towels on a couple of occasions. This was a nonsmoking facility, but there were full stinky ash receptacles just outside the rooms.
Review 89:Location was good for our fishing trip as it was close to the dock. It was quiet and the beds were very comfortable. There were restaurants within walking distance and the ice machine was large enough to keep our coolers filled.
Review 90:1. The bathroom window is at ground level, with no covering over the window. Anyone on the outside of the building could stand and look in the window. That's a security problem. 2. The lamp on one side of the bed was broken. Other guests had turned on the lamp by plugging and unplugging it from the wall. Not safe. 3. The lamp on the other side of the bed, the cord had been improperly spliced. If a child (or adult) had grabbed the cord, they could have been electrocuted. 4. They said at the front desk the motel had WIFi. It didn't.
Review 91:The receptionist was friendly, she was helpful when checking out. I told her a number of things that needed improvement, and she accepted these.
Review 92:on a busy main street so difficult to exit, but nothing to be done about that.
Review 93:easy to get to, only one floor so easy to get into room, very clean, comfortable bed, manager very nice; could only get a smoking room, but there was no smoke smell so very well cleaned
Review 94:It looks like a motel from the 60's from the outside. The room was right next to the highway and traffic noise was exceptionally loud. Don't stay here if you're a light sleeper.
Review 95:Room was cheap and near the marina.
Review 96:I was happy with everything my 26 year old daughter thought the bedroom could be updated, but it's like staying in a room at grandma's house.
Review 97:Friendly fast check in ( we were late and she waited up for us). Great location for us, we did a self guided Goonies tour. It was clean and the bathroom had been remolded. It's an old school hotel, like the ones I went to as a kid with the family.
Review 98:No Magic Fingers.
Review 99:Bathrooms were very nice. Granite counter tops with newer hardware. A great value for the money. I was surprised at how nice the room was. I was expecting a much more seedy experience.
Review 100:This motel is very close to the highway and there is quite a bit of road noise. It could stand to be updated.
Review 101:I booked this hotel because there was nothing else available in Astoria that wasn't ridiculously expensive. The price was good and the staff was very nice and helpful with directions and informative.
Review 102:If you are on the end room, road noise will be an issue. However, the rooms further in were fine.
Review 103:We stayed at the Columbia Inn in 2013 and liked the rooms then, and they were newly remodeled this year - new bathrooms, beds, air conditioning. It was the most affordable place we could find in Astoria, and yet the rooms are great. The staff is friendly and fun.
Review 104:The internet was in and out (even though there was a strong signal), the walls were thin (to be expected by a hotel), there was no coffee pot, and it was a bit noisy with traffic passing by.
Review 105:The bathroom was nice with updated facilities, comfortable bed, the covered carport, and the room was a good size. The staff was friendly and accommodating.
Review 106:Wifi was problematical ~ although eventually fixed Price was high Lobby didn't open until 8 AM (for coffee)
Review 107:Staff was helpful Location was good, albeit noisy
Review 108:Qanother couple walked in my room while I was sleeping. Got locked of my room while trying get an early start had to wait 2 hours for manager. Missed appointments.
Review 109:The wifi was nonexistant. it said it was there. But we could not connect during our entire stay. Also calling the front desk was worthless, being as no one ever answered. You would have to go and track down an employee if you needed anything.
Review 110:The staff was friendly enough, and very helpful. Also it was close to downtown.
Review 111:After the first night my room was not cleaned. I had to ask for clean towels. The WiFi was so weak I couldn't use it.
Review 112:The bathroom was recently remodeled and the towels were decent. There was a small refrigerator and microwave provided.
Review 113:The walls are thin and next to heavy traffic you could hear continually, even for a room sitting back from the street a bit. For a queen room we had only two very thin pillows, I actually went out and bought an additional pillow for our second night. The driveway was a little difficult to exit but for the summer months that is somewhat expected.
Review 114:Our visit was primarily for pleasure and visiting the Maritime museum, for this purpose the location was very close and central to most other common Astoria attractions. The mattress appeared to be pillow top. Nice shower head, very clean room. Great flexibility when checking in late with no additional charge.
Review 115:Reception greeting was at best 'uninterested'. When we checked out I felt like it was an inconvenience! Not a lot of service.
Review 116:Easy to find and access from the road.
Review 117:Kinda close to the road, but not bad.
Review 118:Very, very clean and comfortable.
Review 119:It was a seedy place no hot water.but clean but there was beer cap on the floor.and the tub was dirty.jusr sleep there.
Review 120:I was not happy with the motel
Review 121:Good place and location to stay for the Columbia River Bridge Crossing
Review 122:Carport awning in front of the motel was nice in the rainy weather.
Review 123:Great value for the price. Close to our event which made it convienent. Will be back next year.
Review 124:no coffee maker!
Review 125:location and price were the main plus
Review 126:The room smelt badly of smoke. As they were full we could not change. Too tired to worry too much.
Review 127:Just off the main road, Handy after a long journey
Review 128:It was quieter than I expected. And the bed I had was super comfy!!! I even slept in past my alarm!!
Review 129:LOUD ROAD BUT NOT THE HOTEL'S FAULT. THE LOCATION IS PERFECT.
Review 130:ROOM WAS CLEAN AND STAFF WAS NICE.
Review 131:Easy to find. Comfortable. Close to restaurants. Close to points of interest.
Review 132:Bathroom fan sounds like an air plane engine.
Review 133:Location.. walking distance from high street
Review 134:Access to Boardwalk
Review 135:Adjacent to a busy road.
Review 136:Clean room with all necessary amenities.
