Reviews for Astoria Riverwalk Inn

Review 1:When we walked in the room, the heat was off and judging from the temperature had been off for a long time. We turned on the thermostat, 2 out of the three base board heaters worked. It took two hours for the room to get to a habitable temperature. When I asked for an extra blanket from the front desk, it was clear the young woman wasn't sure what to do. She did the right thing, but was clearly worried about getting in trouble. "I'm not supposed to..." The blankets they used were so thin, I asked for two. Both were not very clean. This hotel is dated and deteriorating. Carpets have not been replaced, mattress was really uncomfortable, the hardware holding the chain on the door was broken, the deck outside the sliding door was green with moss and unpainted for a number of seasons. The remote on the TV didn't work. This was off season, but I'm not sure it would ever be worth $90.00.

Review 2:The motel is easy to find, just off Route 101. Both women behind the desk were efficient, friendly and attentive. There is a nice view of the bridge, otherwise an industrial area.

Review 3:the pictures online show the family suite as having a sofa and actually a large room with area to spread out. when we arrived, we were disappointed that it was actually 2 hotel rooms with ad adjoining door and no where to sit as far as sofa like pic. made it tough as a family of 5. there were only 2 chairs for patio and there were no blankets on the bunk beds. after a short discussion with manager, we were given a 40.00 credit for the mix up but this place is way overpriced for what it is. no water pressure in shower and the rooms feels as old as it looks from outside. the 2 chairs that were in room were covered with a white substance that I just don't want to guess what it was and it was just not nice. we stayed a 2nd night in town but chose to move over to holiday inn express. what a huge difference. save yourself the trouble on this one and go there first. 129.00 plus tax is still way way too much for what we got and how icky it was. wont be going back, needless to say.

Review 4:the guy at desk was nice and helpful

Review 5:Thought we are getting queen size beds but they were doubles.

Review 6:All rooms had water view, which was really nice. Hotel was walking distance to great restaurant in old cannery. Was worried that rooms would be really shabby after reading other reviews but they were fine, especially for the price. The manager was really nice as he had to reset our door lock cause we couldn't get in.

Review 7:The bathroom fan was so noisy you could her it on the balcony. The ice machine ran out of ice the 2nd day there. Breakfast wasn't anything to brag about. They should add a waffle maker and a crockpot for biscuits and gravy. Something warm for those cold seaside mornings.

Review 8:The view was awesome. The balcony private. It was our 20th anniversary so it was a special occasion

Review 9:The walls are thin.

Review 10:Big rooms, friendly staff, excellent beds, wonderful view, pet friendly, great value. This older motel is being renovated and the improvements are great!

Review 11:continental breakfast had little to offer/ran out of food.no ironing board. no extra pillows. poor service at front desk

Review 12:Scenery and outdoor balcony

Review 13:it was a long walk to the office and the ice machine.

Review 14:We liked the location as it was out of the business area and gave ample room for our pets to walk. It was quiet and we liked the water front for the ships to load and the fishermen to go out to fish.

Review 15:The first room. Wasn't made up. The 2nd room didn't have a comforter. The man was very accommodating but the woman was very rude. We came in and waited for her to finish her conversation rather than checking us in while the man was trying to end the conversation to help us. Then we came down just before 7 and she said I am supposed to have until 7 to get breakfast set up. Like it was a big problem.

Review 16:I liked the location and view

Review 17:my bed wasnt real comfortable, wasnt bad either, I just prefer a bit firmer mattresses. Carpet was old and worn, not something I personally mind but someone wanting more updating might be bothered by it.

Review 18:I of course loved the view and the sounds from the marina right outside. I also liked having everything I needed in the room, like coffee, wifi, and stuff I didn't use this time but could want on a longer trip, good TV, iron, microwave, fridge, hair dryer. Considering the good rate I managed to nab through Booking.com's special I was quite pleased.

Review 19:We were on the lower level and the floor above us creaked with every step plus the person up there made no attempt to be quiet. We heard them throw each shoe on the floor, etc. after midnight.

Review 20:Great location.

Review 21:It's an older building, it just needs some updating. New floors, paint and some drywall fixed. Maybe spruce it up with some decorative pictures and bedding. A little money invested now will bring a lot of money later!

Review 22:The staff and view were pleasant. The late night free cookies were greatly appreciated but they need to have a little more change on hand so we could raid the coke machine.

Review 23:Not a bad experience, they are in the middle of extreme make over and will be bringing it back to its glory. We stayed many times in the 90s when it was a going place. We were so happy to hear all the plans to restore this wonderful location. Good for them.

Review 24:The view was awesome. The beds were so nice, we came to refresh and it did the trick.

Review 25:When we walked in to our room we opened the patio door curtain and we were lookig out over the marina and the Astoria bridge. Beautiful to wake up too.

Review 26:Carpet stains everywhere, bathroom floor sticky and dirty, coffee potbroken, mattress horrible, blanket thin and useless, toilet flushingdownstairs sounded like a small explosion in wall, glass door off track, deck old, floors creaked badly, 3 remotes and no instructions, smelledstale, refrigerator rattled loudly every time you walked past it - shallI go on? We have stayed at many hotels through the years; this one wasby far the worse. If it hadn't been so late and we were tired andhad already dragged our luggage up the stairs, we would have left. Onebad night of sleep.

Review 27:Nothing

Review 28:The room was fine. We found an old towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door. Thought the building was a bit run down and old for the rates charged.

Review 29:We liked the location and view of the harbor.

Review 30:Run down and out dated. Rail on balcony loose and a bit scarey! Stains on carpet.

Review 31:Beautiful view of river. Beds were very comfortable, staff was friendly and accomendating. New owners just took ownership to hopefully they can improve upon the condition of the place

Review 32:In desperate need of updates and maintence, even little things like the screen door not working, sheets being totally worn out and shower curtain being useless which floods the bathroom.

Review 33:Free tea and coffee and fresh baked cookies in the lobby. The Bridgewater Bistro next door is divine and owners/staff are friendly.

Review 34:Unfortunately the owners while nice people have let this place get too run down and haven't even done simple things to maintain the place to a decent standard. I don't enjoy giving negative reviews but in this case I have to be honest, there must be better places to stay.

Review 35:The 24 hour coffee and tea making in the lobby is good. Also the bridgewater bistro just a 1 minute walk next door is wonderful.

Review 36:Tub didn't drain properly, fan light in bath improperly hung.

Review 37:Basic older hotel, but had microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and supplies. Beautiful view of the marina!

Review 38:I did not have a bad experience but I will say the rooms are dated..The carpets are old and the rooms smell of cleaning agents..I like sleeping with the sliding door open and receiving the fresh air..Glad it wasn't cold out..Bathroom could be a little cleaner..Television was worthless...But I did not come for television..A little more attention to detail when it comes to cleaning and it would be a better lodging experience..

Review 39:Location In Astoria is excellent..The marina is right out your door..For anyone wanting to be close to the water this place is great..The history of the town is incredible and having a place to stay thats in the $100 dollar range is great..Portway up the street is a great local place for a alcohol drink..

Review 40:1 key blood stain on lamp shade dirty floors WiFi/tv didn't work no ice machine deck was unsafe windows dirty furniture didn't match stains on pillow cases building was sagging homeless people living in parking lot red and silver car stains on carpet ran out of food

Review 41:Toilet didn't work, spiders everywhere, room smelled terrible. Worst dump I've ever stayed in. 120 a night what a joke. Wifi didn't work, no channels worked on TV

Review 42:Dirty! The first room had dirty carpets & floors & smelled bad, the front desk readily changed our room to a clean one, but next to the metal ramp to the boat dock, lots of noise. It was 2x + the price I had paid here in June.

Review 43:Nice view, conveniently located, ok soft bed & pet friendly, lots of dog walks to the west .

Review 44:Over priced!! Aged hotel. no working ice machines. No A/C!! Stuffy rooms-opened sliding door to sleep and cool the room which was nice but then at 330 am the harbor comes alive with people-now too noisy to sleep, or close the door and too stuffy. Rude front desk employees. I would not stay here if you have other options!!

Review 45:Nothing.nothing to brag about.

Review 46:It wasn't very clean not up-to-date at toilets were child size very uncomfortable and for the price not comparable at all and no complementary breakfast for the price was ridiculous.

Review 47:We wanted it on the water i was disappointed to look at the boats instead of the actual bay liked that we had a balcony

Review 48:No air conditioning, very warm in room and if you left balcony door open cigarette smoke from adjacent balconies came right into our room

Review 49:View of marina

Review 50:filty stunk of purfumed carpet fresh to cover up for smoking. bathroon floor had visable dirt smears. Walls had splatters of ?? something that had run down. hair on phone receiver smell was aweful tv did not work, was one of the worse rooms I have ever been in. we would have left but after long drive and no ability to find another room in the area, we decided we had no option. I slept in my clothes and did not un pack anything we left as soon as it was light. No we did not call front desk and complain. The mistake was mine I didnt have time to read the reviews and booked off the picture, all my error and a couple hundred dollars

Review 51:veiw the guy at the front desk was very nice.

Review 52:Balcony & screen need repair, attention. Bathroom sink very slow draining. No breakfast, and should be for the price.

Review 53:Location & balcony overlooking marina. Pillow top mattress.

Review 54:Bedding and bed skirt need update. Bed skirt torn. Furniture could stand to be updated.

Review 55:Views out of balcony. Good location. Looks like they are in the process of doing some work on the place.

Review 56:The card held for incendentals took 300$ on hold. As of monday it has not been returned. This left them with little to no money to eat. Maybe it could have been explained better to them.

Review 57:Sense of urgency. Very helpful with a last minute reservation for my crew working in the area.

Review 58:Overpriced motel. The rooms were large but not in good shape, stains on carpet, crummy bathroom, sheets did not fit the mattresses and were on one bed inside out. Inadequate number of towels in room for number of guests and on second day no new toilet paper or tissues (had to request both even though room was 'cleaned'). Garbage can outside of room was never cleaned up over the two days we were there. Additional bags of garbage on ground next to can.

Review 59:Nothing really- it was fairly quiet due to its location.

Review 60:The free Wi-Fi don't work in your room I have to stand in the doorway of the room in there was no restaurant on site we have to settle for KFC cuz we came in late

Review 61:Overall the view were great

Review 62:FISHERMAN... Beware of the time of year that you go here... Smokers... Rude... Too bad this was our honeymoon...

Review 63:Pretty view of the Marina, Astoria Megler Bridge...

Review 64:Non cooperative front desk, no Internet access and no help from the front desk, beds sloppily made, only decaf coffee, used shampoo bottle, no elevator to second floor.

Review 65:The view only.

Review 66:The carpet felt really old and dirty even though it had been vacuumed. The bathroom really needs new flooring and the shower needs new sealer or grout. Just need a little sprucing up in the floors and bathrooms.

Review 67:Location and the staff.

Review 68:Filthy dirty disgusting motel. How does this place get a 3 star rating? It should only be 1 star. I had to keep my shoes on the whole time because the carpet hadn't been cleaned in years, and I had to use a towel to turn on the light switches which were filthy dirty. This place is horrible!

Review 69:Absolutely nothing was nice about this place.

Review 70:The carpet had stains. The furniture looked like hadn't been update since the 70s. The aluminum slider door didn't close entirely. The wifi password didn't work. Worst of all, the noise from the other rooms and nearby road kept me up most of the night.

Review 71:The view of the marina was nice.

Review 72:Light switches had not been cleaned in a very long time, they were heavily soiled. There had not been any bar soap, shampoo or lotion left in the room and it was short towels. There was damage to a wall and several cracks and broken spots in the floor tiles in the bathroom. Hair dryer did not work.

Review 73:The view onto the river was outstanding. The bed was very comfortable.

Review 74:Lack of thoroughness in cleaning- made me a little uncomfortable.

Review 75:The view from this hotel is without question the best in town! Fishing charters next door and can see the boats come in and their catch from your room. Huge ships passing by- really awesome.

Review 76:hair dryer was melted, but still worked. Outdated. The balcony was sketchy and made me nervous. For the price of the room, it needs a overhaul.

Review 77:Beautiful location.

Review 78:No ac no breakfast

Review 79:This hotel was not bad. Right on the river (ocean)and I know it usually is hott in astoria however it was when we were there and having no ac was hard so we decided to sleep with the sliding balcony door open. Except a couple rooms over a couple I believe were sooo loud not only as we were trying to go to bed but at 2am at 4am at 5am and going. It was ridiculous. Other than that the room was in fair condition. The bed was nice.

Review 80:Waken up by noisy neighbors at 3am. Could not book on the phone a week in advance. Weird red spots on our threshold. Did not take the AAA card via booking.com. Too expensive.

Review 81:It offers free wifi in all areas but our room was not near the main reception so the signal was not strong enough to allow connection. we had to sit in the reception lobby in order to connect, which was a little inconvenient at times.

Review 82:rooms clean & comfortable, and balcony overlooking harbour was a nice added touch. Staff very friendly and great parking facility.

Review 83:Toilet overflowed as soon as we arrived and water did not shut off. Flooded the entire bathroom floor. Maintenance arrived quickly and unplugged toilet. Brought a few towels and used to finish wiping up the floor. Left towels laying on the floor for housekeeping in the morning and did not replace. Should have been taken the wet, gross towels out of room and had the floor mopped up.

Review 84:Definitely being located at the marina. Very peaceful.

Review 85:The bathroom was filthy, the maids and management were not doing theirjob to ensure that the rooms were the cleanest that they could be. Thefront desk girl had to come and clean the bathroom as the floor was notwashed from the previous guest. The bathrooms are old not update in anyfashion with peeling paint on the ceiling above the tub, the tile eventhough it was in good shape was streak with dirty water marks that wouldcome off if they used a stronger cleaning solution and a scrub brush, because a test with a fingernail and that grime came off! This could bea cute hotel if the owner had some pride in the building and check tosee how clean the rooms were. The carpets could have used a cleaning aswell. The furniture was from the 70's but in good shape, so whatthis hotel needs is a good spring cleaning. There is no air conditioneror fan so the rooms get hot. They could get quiet fans on stands foreach room.

Review 86:The view of the harbour and the sunset. The harbour was quiet thru thenight as we had to have the patio door open. The beds have thick paddingon them so we were comfortable instead of the regular rock hard bed thatother hotels have.

Review 87:Bad is not telling the story, it was the worst we have had. Nothing wasclean or neat, the advertisement was absolutely false, the cleanlinesswas the worst we have ever seen in the travels. I wanted to forfeit thepayment and find another place that was clean, modern -- well, I couldgo on but I won't We will not pay in advance, we just wasted$140.00, it will never happen again. We blame you because the ads thatwere shown to us on the internet are false, nothing is right about thisplace. Unfortunately we go there at the end of the day and my wife said,:Let's just do the best we can." The room was filthy, the rungwas unbelievable, the bathroom was as bad, or worse than I had ever seenmy life. The toilet was positioned only about 11 or 12 inches off thefloor, the first that used it save the second one from falling. No airconditioning, the door to the, what they called the patio, would notclose and there was a hook put on the frame by some, and you could notlock it. The patio was just 2 by 4's and were gray and full ofsplinters. You probably think I am exaggerating, not so. I stayed awakefor fear of bed bugs-- I don't think bed bugs would come intosomething this bad. I did not know how to get ahold of your office so Ijust figure I had learned my lesson. It is really unusual that the roomin Lincoln City could be so wonderful and this was unbearable.

Review 88:&Quot;"NOTHING""

Review 89:No air conditioning or fan room was stuffy. TV had one channel could not get news or weather.

Review 90:The location is great could be a great place just needs some upgrading

Review 91:Older property. No AC or fan in room, for the warm summer. Needs general updating, remodeling, but overall was clean.

Review 92:Friendly helpful staff. Reasonable bargain for height of season. Great views.

Review 93:Very old, needs major upgrading, over priced. I'd give it a 2/5. Many other very nice hotels facing water. Choose another hotel!

Review 94:Facing harbour, nice view, quiet

Review 95:Plug in didnt work well room smelled like cigarettes very disappointed with the room we got up and left at 8 am bececause the room was so uncomfortable wished we had stayed some where else

Review 96:There was no breakfast, no laundry and the wifi was poor (frequently accessible only from the bathroom)

Review 97:Good rooms with a great view of the first bridge along the Columbia River and of the harbour with all the boats and activities. We would stay here again.

Review 98:Room had crushed crackers all over the childrens side and no blankets. I left a message for the houskeeper to add blankets but still had to go ask for them when we returned.

Review 99:Location in Astoria is picture perfect

Review 100:there was a broken lamp next to the bed. we were only given 1 set of towels... 2 people and 1 big towel... hmmmm Breakfast was advertised but never served. the desk clerk said it wasn't profitable anymore. then don't advertise it.

Review 101:great view from the balcony of our room

Review 102:but minor repairs are needed. the bathroom fan was noisy, the wall plugs are getting loose and the toilet seat was worn and stained.

Review 103:The bathtub and shower and shower faucett were in very good condition

Review 104:Could be a bit cleaner, but it wasn't terribly unclean; basically in the shower stall.

Review 105:Location & price were very good. People were friendly & helpful. We travel with a pet; your accommodations make travel easier, thank you.

Review 106:The wifi wasn't working properly, they told us that day they had problem. The shower was only for short people!

Review 107:I love the view from the room over the docks. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. I appreciate the breakfast choice sugar free

Review 108:The balconies have really bad air leakage, so you have to run the heater all night. I had to move the micro fridge away from the heater (the wire was AGAINST the heater), and I partitioned the curtains in the corner away, because they were touching the heater, and those are blatant fire hazards.

Review 109:big room, breakfast is cool, they have a waffle making station with all the fixings (except whipped cream).

Review 110:We took a weekend and came to Astoria. Loved Riverwalk. The view was cool to see the bridge, the ships, the docked boats and feed the birds. Theresa at the front desk did an AWSOME job, she is definately a multitasker and has a great personality. Will definately recommend and be back. Thanks

Review 111:This hotel needs some love and attention. Could use a good paint job and some upgrading but it is not a bad place to stay. We were in town for a 10k and its location was perfect. All we needed was a place to sleep, nothing glamerous. Its quiet and we had a view of the harbor. It also had a balcony which was nice. All in all it was a great stay.

Review 112:Property is a bit run down in general - in need of an update - the carpets in particular were pretty ancient....

Review 113:Great view of the marina! Complimentary breakfast buffet was good.

Review 114:Bathroom needed updating One bedside light fixture inoperable.

Review 115:Easy access to Riverwalk. Balcony view of the marina and bridge is beautiful. Free DVDs. Beds were comfortable.

Review 116:Little repairs needed.

Review 117:I really enjoyed the stay. It was a very cozy little room with a balcony overlooking the marina. Room could use a tiny bit of repairs on the bathroom paint and maybe just a little updating (not too much or it will lose its charm). Overall loved my stay there.

Review 118:The building was run down, there was no coffee pot, no screens on the patio doors, no chairs on patio and we couldn't work the TV.

Review 119:The location was good. The beds were comfortable

Review 120:Arriving at the Astoria Riverwalk Inn we were welcomed by a unattentive member of staff. The building itself had clearly seen better days and looked run down. Going up to our room on the second floor was not easy as there were no lights in the stairwell. The room was spacious lacked sockets to plug your mobile devices into. One of the twin beds had the sheets put on the in-side out. In daylight it became clear that the balcony badly needed a haul over, the stairwell was used to dump rubbish (food leftovrs in cardboard boxes) and the sidewalk was downright dirty. Breakfast comprised of 3 waffle machines and sugary serials but lacked fresh fruit. All in all very, very disappointing considering the price we paid.

Review 121:View from the balcony on the yaught harbour and bridge.

Review 122:Overall conditions. This is a former Red Lion the city condemned. I have stayed there in the past prior to condemnation, in better shape then.

Review 123:Location. Right at the Astoria bridge at the Port of Astoria west mooring basin.

Review 124:The room was in poor condition and dirty. We could hear outside doors opening and slamming shut from other rooms. There were cobwebs in the corners and a huge crack in the bathroom ceiling. The sheets and towels were clean though.

Review 125:Wonderful location and view, friendly staff. Pet friendly. Its right on the trolley and close to downtown. Its right on the river walk and where the cruise ship docks, so thats fun.

Review 126:Really old facility and shows it. The view would be nice other than being right on a marina with really bright lights and set up like a prison yard with all the balconies kind of facing one another. One person was even urinating off their balcony while another balcony was hosting some type of beer party that included throwing empties into the marina water. Overall a very bad experience and that was on a weekday! Hate to see it on a weekend...

Review 127:The staff were pleasant but seemed understaffed. Nice location being next to the highway and the river. But that's it... Needs a complete overhaul!

Review 128:Breakfast was a bit limited - primarily waffles. It would have been nice to have more savory options.

Review 129:Refrigerator, microwave, and balcony overlooking the water was great. The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept on.

Review 130:The breakfast area is decidedly drab and unwelcoming - and the food on offer is a bit limited. But it'll do - and there are plenty of alternatives not far away.

Review 131:The initial appearance, when seen from the bridge, may lead you to think it's another drab motel under a fly-over - but once inside, you have the luxury of the incredible views. There are good eateries along the Walk and lots of interesting things in the town itself - just a short walk along the river. I liked the fact that the hotel is easy to find, has ample parking and decent-size rooms, clean and comfortable,

Review 132:The ironwork railings were rusted, trash areas were open, smelly and attracting flies, the furniture was ancient and worn, the carpets were stained, the microwave was dirty in our room, the beds were lumpy.

Review 133:The location and view of the marina are lovely. The DVD library is impressive with some quality films. The staff was accommodating. People seemed to enjoy the waffle-making breakfast area. The rooms were roomy.

Review 134:This hotel is well marketed on the web and looks OK. Once you arrive you can see from the outside that it is a dilapidated, & worn out property that somehow got lost in time. The small front office harkens back to the motel office from the Hitchcock thriller, “Psycho.” A rundown affair with all the trappings of yesteryear abounding. We stayed one night at just over $200.00 USD. Wandering down the walkway to the rooms you could not help but notice all the pick-up trucks parked nearby. Most were recreational and some professional fishermen’s rigs. Yes, all the rooms face the harbour, more on that later. As the room “key” would not function I had the opportunity to head back to the office with bags in hand where the young woman behind the counter advised me that the “machine was not working well” that programmed plastic card “keys” for rooms. I headed back with all my luggage once again only to repeat the process once more before gaining entry to my room.It was on the main floor, as the door swung open I looked past the squalor and could see that the windows looked straight into the inner harbour where fishing boats were moored. As I slid the glass door open, OK, I forced it open because it did not slide at all but jerked and jiggled its way half open and ground to a stop. Ahh, the pungent smell of rotting fish! I quickly jiggled the door shut with much effort.I surveyed the room that had a queen be waiting. The wallpaper had been painted over a few times but this did not stop it from peeling just the same.A large black bug raced across the floor with me in hot pursuit! It managed to find a pardon by jumping into a hole in the wall. This carpet level hole was matched by several other holes in the walls. The carpet, yes you can imagine, it was not fit for any bare footing around, no siree, it was a mandatory boots on until bedtime.

Review 135:Getting out of there in the morning!

Review 136:Location is about a twenty min walk from downtown so not exactly ideal. Again, a bit motel like , your hotel door opens up to the outside not within a corridor. Fine place just to rest your head for the night . Not a lot of eating places nearby either, there was one just a fee mins away but it was closed around 9 so we ordered pizza to the room , otherwise there's not much close by.

Review 137:Comfortable room, nice bed and clean facility. We were only there for one night stopping over so this place was fine but I was glad we weren't spending our whole vacation there , its a bit motel-like , not suitable for more than one or two nights. There is free DVDs to rent which is excellent!

Review 138:Fish hook and cigarette Butts on the floor very dirty carpet a lot of stains. For the amount of money we paid we could of stayed in a newer place.

Review 139:Balcony

Review 140:Cob webs and spiders on the balcony. No milk delivered for breakfast, no waffle batter for the waffle bar.

Review 141:We loved the view of the harbor. Great place to visit.

Review 142:Bathroom was clean but not maintained properly. Shower would not go on all the way, toilet was not secured fully to the floor, toilet seat was loose.

Review 143:Seemed to me like every room had a balcony charged extra for a room with a balcony.
