Review 1:Hot tub should be hotter, it didn't do anything for my sore muscles! Also could use small humidifier in each room, too dry and couldn't breath good.

Review 3:1) Carpet was dirty, it looked like it had been 'cleaned' but for so many years it just gave up. 2) Walls were stained (you could see where 2 art pieces had hung that were no longer there!) 3) Restaurant had a fan on that was pulling cold air in, in the winter 4) Bed was TERRIBLE, hurt my back and I have a good back. It's a 'sleep number' bed, which didn't work. So it was sleeping on a board with a flat air mattress on top essentially. 5) PRICE - Grand Rapids apparently has a hotel 'monopoly' by a local family. Either pay $250-300 for a King room downtown (lowest tier) or pay $150~ for this decaying reminder of Grand Rapids' past.
Review 4:Location is about the only thing. Maybe I wasn't in a new room? Front desk clerk was only reason staff got a high rating. Everyone else, no. Wifi had good signal strength on the 2nd floor.

Review 11:The hotel was very dirty including doors and door handles, lightswitches, bathroom surfaces. There was a smell that come from the hvacunit when it was running that smelled as if sewage was backing up in theroom. We were traveling with a 4 year old girl who was looking forwardto swimming. The pool area tile was so slick when wet that two of thethree members of our party slipped and fell. Paint was peeling off thehot tub and floating around. There was an empty beer can that had fallenbetween the hot tub and the window that had been there so long therewere cobwebs. This was the worst hotel I had ever experienced. Ifswitching hotels would have been an option I would have leftimmediately! Unfortunately, all the hotels within a reasonable distancewere booked. Food was terrible and the hotel charged for extra nights ifthe room service bill was over $75! The staff was rude and difficult tocommunicate with. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, in factI would recommend it to one of those hotel rescue shows. Do not stay atthis hotel, especially with young children. We got home and washedeverything we took with us!

Review 23:I stayed in room 320. First thing when we walked in it was very cold in the room. We tried to adjust the register by the window and then went to sleep. We froze all night. Sleep number beds did not work which was disappointing. Thermometer on wall did not work. Telephone did not work.

Review 25:A few of your front desk and phone operators were less than accommodating. They just had a negative attitude or less than friendly response to requests while others were fantastic.
Review 26:The bathtub didn't work - it drained so slow it filled up. I spoke with the front desk 3 times about this, and they alway said they'd send somebody to fix it, but that never happened. Bathroom was full of somebody else's hair when I got there. The TV was an old standard definition box.

When the staff was alerted they said "sorry, next time ask to not be on the 2nd floor" The entire floor smelled as if they were trying to cover up the smell of animals. Bathroom had mold in shower.

The money spent for two nights was unbelievably high for the service and for the condition of my room was unacceptable! The air/heater only worked half of the time, the select number bed didnt even work! And the bathroom was far from clean. The room smelled musty. Very unhappy with my experience at your hotel! I paid over $300 to stay two nights at your hotel and it was not worth the price I paid. Very upset.

Review 48:The sleep number beds that they advertise are not in all the rooms, andwe didn't have one. The outdoor space was not maintained at all eventhough it was right next to the river. The deck was gated off for safetyreasons, rotten wood and decrepit stairs. A cement patio had a fewtables, but even though it was accessible thru the bar, that door waslocked and it was unusable. Coffee was made in the morning but it wasweak and watery. No cream or sugar was provided most days. The hot tubhad black scum around the water level, the floor around the pool wasclean but the windows behind the pool chairs were filled with cobwebsabd debris. The ceilings over the pool and hot tub had brown goodripping from the white beams. The lights in the lobby had open globesthat were filled with the bodies of dead bugs. The maintenance staffcame to clean up the hot tub after my complaints, but he scrubbed theblack scum into the hot tub water using a scrubber and the water in thetub. I complained about that but it was ignored. The staff was nice, butineffective. Public areas were dirty, modernization needed throughoutthe building and the pool area was worse than gross. Internet access wasnot available during our entire stay and it cost me a lot of money topay data charges for any online activities. The other guests had thesame complaints, I overheard many guests unhappy with theaccommodations, and more than one with raised voices. The most annoyingpart of the experience was the fact that the doors would not open withthe card keys. We had the desk remaking the keys each time we left theroom and made at least four or more trips each day to the lobby for thatpurpose. We spent large amounts of time waiting for someone to assistus, one person can't remake the need key cards and do all the normalfront desk functions. The issue seemed to affect many guests and onestaff member told me that the door locks work on batteries and likelyneeded replacement.
Review 49:Staff was nice but powerless to change the lack of internet access, andagreed with the cleanliness issues but the staff sent to address theseonly make it worse. Scrubbing the black scum from the sides of the hottub using the water in the hot tub and a filthy scrubber right in frontof us. Tried to fix internet, had service provider on site twice but wasunable to get it done. Housekeeping did a great job keeping the roomtidy and bathroom was cleaned well.
Review 50:The bathroom floor could have been cleaned a little bit better and the air conditioning vent looked to be very dirty which was sitting right next to the table so you could not help but stare at it

Riverwalk overgrown with bushes! Terrible "river view" over other building and AC units. Breakfast was only buffet and not worth $10 per person. An incident of guest falling in face in lobby saw very little and inappropriate response from staff:I helped the man with his bleeding wound and tried to enlist help from staff !

Review 73:I was very disappointed in the condition of the room, the bathroom was horrific, there was short black hair all over floor, then when got in shower i noticed the inside of shower curtain was extremely dirty, and had fresh blood on the curtin from someone previous and hadn't been washed, if absolutely discussed me and couldnt finish my shower, i was so disappointed i took several pictures of the condition of the batbroom. Then the white top blanket on the bed had dirt all over it and again was very dissatisfied, and there was no microwave or mini frig in the room, i feel for a small room with one bed for $120.00 a night should at least have those 2 things, and there was no complimentary breakfast which for the price your paying there should be something, small, nasty $35.00 a night motels and hotels have microwave, frig. And breakfast. Lastly there was food and trash that sat outside of the other rooms in the hallways the whole time i stayed at your establishment, is made the hallways smell and was a very nasty appearance, all in all i was very disappointed in the over all appearance and stay, and would not recommend your establishment to anyone else.

Review 110:The rooms are old and need to be updated. The building as a whole needs updating, from the terribly slow elevator to the carpeting. Also, I was in a king room that had been a double at some point, but no one had bothered to change the wall hangings so it wasn't obvious. If one cannot take the time to move a few furnishing around, than what does that say about service to more important things? There were a lot of little things that just cumulated into a level of annoyance I don't like when traveling.

Elevator sloooow. Unfortunately Light sleeper, not happy to pay $20.00 more to get a quiet night sleep on river side, away from Freeway. I pay a hotel for a place to sleep and then had to pay more for a place to sleep on the Quiet / River side. What is wrong with this scenario?

Review 122:I had to go back down to the bar after a $50.00 limit hit my card and was asked to do so after 10:00 pm. Unfortunately, I was on the phone with a client when I answered the door and it appeared as there was a problem with my card. Not a good thing and could have been handled with a phone call to my room. They explained that most people get upset when they get over charged over the agreed amount of $50. Book another hotel if you can in my humble opinion. Food is horrible in the lounge but if you have lots to do, bring lunch meat. Oh.... soup was good!

Review 126:The hotel lounge had karaoke the night we were there (5/8/15)The dj kept making sexual innuendos to my friends and I. Then he keptsaying tip the bartender, who were horrible. They kept sniffingpeople's cups. Then we were singing and cut off in the middle of thesong because they bartenders were mad about their tips. They werehorrible!!! I had a $160 tab, the next day I check the receipt andalmost $60 of that was not even my drinks or my friends. The lounge ishorrible because of those 3 people, the dj, and the 2 bartenders. I willnever go back there and stir others away.
