Reviews for Prospector Hotel Juneau
Review 1:The one easy chair was absolutely scuzzy. The scond chair was a convention type dining chair. Our friends' room had a soft foot stool, missing in our room. Other furnishings were ok. There was a fridge microwave and a fancy coffemaker.
Review 2:Location
Review 3:Workout room had issues but walking around Juneau was a better substitute. Not a deal breaker.
Review 4:Location was excellent for walking downtown and to docks. Parking was easy and quick. Staff were helpful and cheerful and really worked with us when ferry issues caused us to have to reschedule parts of our trip. We were easily able to book more days.
Review 5:The hotel is "tired" looking and the rooms really need to be updated and more current so that the furniture is more comfortable and neat and tidy.
Review 6:Staff are extremely helpful and very willing to offer suggestions and assistance. Each person was consistently accommodating.
Review 7:Really noisy at night because of proximity to Pioneer bar. No air conditioning so had to have windows open. No breakfast served.
Review 8:Loved the location, view and nice restaurant also with patio seating on the water.Loved being so close to town and free shuttle from airport. Our fishing captain was able to pick us up at Hotel dock!
Review 9:No parking; asked for a quiet room months in advance and got the noisiest room on a major highway with paper thin walls, we could hear every footstep above and conversations from the room next to us. Plus an unbearably loud fan noise all night from somewhere in the building. The bed was like sleeping on the floor. The electric was out for a couple hours due to construction in the area and we needed to get something from our room on the 3rd floor, the stairs were totally dark so we asked for a flashlight and were told just to feel our way around and we would be fine!
Review 10:Terrible room with such an old overstuff chair that it was filthy and had a hole in the seat. the shower was totally dangerous with no bars to hold on to and the walls were very slick. Bathroom so small was hardly there. the room was not furnished with nice things or with comfort. This hotel was not anything like it used to be when I stayed there frequently in the 1980s. time for a major upgrade. The price was entirely too much for the amenities and condition of the room.
Review 11:Location in downtown Juneau. Room with a view of the harbor. The front counter staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 12:Pillows
Review 13:complete experience with exception of bed pillows...I prefer a feather pillow and these were a little firmer than I like however that's not a problem ...staff, dining, bar all exceptional...will book again when in the area
Review 14:Snoring from room next was unbelievably loud! Checked to see if some was sleeping on the floor next to my bed. The dryer in laundry did not get hot and took too long to dry.
Review 15:Breakfast was great, staff was good.
Review 16:We were there for four days and had to live out of our suitcases because there were no pieces of furniture with drawers to put our clothing. This was most inconvenient. No convenient ice or vending machines available.
Review 17:The polite and friendly staff and the location.
Review 18:The chair could have been cleaner.
Review 19:The view of the channel from our room was outstanding. The room - a queen executive - was clean (except for the chair) and a nice size. It appeared to be recently painted and the bathroom was updated.
Review 20:I felt that for the price we paid for the hotel room you should provide a breakfast. There is a restaurant on site, but that added another $30.00 each morning for breakfast.
Review 21:They location of the hotel was great. Loved that our room faced the water!
Review 22:Housekeeping was poor. Often didn't leave towels or toilet articles (2/4 days). Carpet was worn and stained. Walls were in desperate need of painting.
Review 23:Location could not be better!
Review 24:Friendly helpful staff. Great restaurant. Reasonable price for the summer months for the accommodations. Excellent value for the business traveler or family on a budget.
Review 25:I left a new sport coat in the room. I called back several times, but it was never found and it was definitely left there
Review 26:An easy walking distance to the center of town. The room was large and comfortable. The staff was friendly. There is a restaurant and a bar with a nice view. The hotel is sort of middle of the road comfort, but it had a good tv, free wifi, and was clean
Review 27:the location was in a semi-industrial area though only a few minutes walk to downtown.
Review 28:the room was large. it would be plenty large for a family with two young children. the bed was comfortable and the shower was hot.
Review 29:I liked that the night desk person was very patient and accommodating because I goofed up our check-in date. He found us a room and the next day the moved us to our designated room. Everyone was nice.
Review 30:Interior aspects a touch warn and needs upgrading. When re-building of State Museum of Alaska is complete next door in 2016, their probably increased revenue should be used for new carpeting, upholstery, etc.
Review 31:Very large room, comfortable chair and hassock, friendly, helpful lobby staff, good restaurant on premises (best for breakfasts) and may not be the Ritz, but worked well for our needs and was solid quality and good enough value.
Review 32:Access toentrance for those of us on foot and rolling luggage, is somewhat circuitous. All meals are expensive in Juneau.Lack of local Sourdough bread products curious. They are shipped in from Seattle and don't have the right "al dente".
Review 33:Bkfst available in hotel at 7AM. Some tours start at 7- 7:30 But has access to early morning bkfst, Easy access to tours and shopping, church, etc.
Review 34:We only had a desk chair in our room and when we asked about getting an additional chair we were told there were none. We later asked a different front desk person and she was able to find us a chair from the conference room. Customer service is an area to be improved.
Review 35:Location is great for walking to shops, restaurants, etc.
Review 36:The walls were a little thin so we could hear a few noises during our stay, but nothing to really complain about.
Review 37:This hotel is in an excellent location, it is clean, comfortable, and there are all of the amenities you need (free wifi, free coffee, beautiful view, large shower, restaurant downstairs, polite staff). It is not fancy, but necessary things have been updated, it is very cozy, and the price was right!
Review 38:The sheets did not fit the beds; they were not long enough and came untucked. Also the rug was old and had a tear/worn strip down it all across the room. Bath tub was chipped; everything needed an upgrade.
Review 39:Location just out of the tourist area was great. Room was big.
Review 40:Stayed here several days ago, everything excellent-this stay the bathroom wasn't totally clean, no stopper in sink, room not as good as 1st room, view not as good as 1st & the dining room was closed & no one was advised except that there was a sign on the dining room saying it was closed
Review 41:Good location, good customer service
Review 42:Could use a cosmetic update on the outside. But it was on par with most of the other hotels we saw in Juneau so....
Review 43:This could have been a bad hotel in a bad location and the staff we dealt with would have made it good. They were excellent and friendly. The location is perfect and close to downtown.
Review 44:Only one set of pillows, so hard to recline to watch TV. No plug in the tub.
Review 45:The hotel has close proximity to historic downtown. I always appreciate finding accommodation that is smoke-free. Our room had a great view of the canal to watch the tide and the ships.
Review 46:We had breakfast in the restaurant. The service was EXTREMELY slow, and we could not figure what the staff was doing since there were only 3 other tables of 4 or fewer people when we came in. The hot food was cold and not very tasty.
Review 47:The friendliness and suggestions of the front desk staff was wonderful. The rooms were large and quite comfortable. We assume they are in the process of refurbishing since two of our three rooms had flat screen TVs. The location was an easy walk into town.
Review 48:outside of building looks old.
Review 49:the rooms are redone . very spacious. about the size of extended stay with a restuarant isyead of kitchenette
Review 50:The rooms were very large and the beds very comfortable.
Review 51:No complaints
Review 52:Room was very spacious, lots of floor space and 2 big closets. Also has covered parking, no getting wet unloading car.
Review 53:Room very hot even with thermostat off. Road noise too loud to leave the windows open
Review 54:Location and size of room.
Review 55:Smelly, poor bed
Review 56:Noise from children next door at all hours
Review 57:Spacious rooms friendly staff clean as a whistle
Review 58:No shuttle to distant ferry or airport
Review 59:Plenty of space
Review 60:Lacking in views but very convenient location too town and wharf
Review 61:Big comfortable rooms lots of space Staff very helpful
Review 62:all good
Review 63:Sunday brunch
Review 64:Too far from downtown
Review 65:staff was great in the hotel and restaurant
Review 66:Staff were very accomodating. Hotel was within walking distance of most activities, restaurants, etc.
Review 67:Cleaness
Review 68:Staff are friendly
Review 69:No A/C, but then most of Alaska has no air conditioning.
Review 70:Restaurant is outstanding. Rooms are large. Location is excellent, near downtown.
Review 71:No shuttle
Review 72:Staff was great
Review 73:Could do with some updating. Room noise may be an issue if not in a suite.
Review 74:We were given a suite. Views were great. Location good
Review 75:No shuddle from airport.
Review 76:For the price this hotel is nice.
Review 77:Restaurant was good;room exceedingly spacious and most comfortable; staff very helpful and friendly. We especially loved the staff pets.
Review 78:The people at the hotel. They were very friendly and went out of their way to help.
Review 79:Hotel old and run down, noisy from other rooms and dingy.
Review 80:The location was close to town.
Review 81:Liked the view and had a great meal at the restaurant but we aren't used to the traffic as we live in a quiet place
Review 82:Parking was a problem, and also building activity next door in early morning hours was not good.
Review 83:needs very urgent renovation
Review 84:location
Review 85:dull building and furniture
Review 86:Restauration on site, free parking, no too far from city center
Review 87:Large room. Quiet. No fitted bottom sheets on bed. Fought all night with sheet and under pad. Made sleep impossible
Review 88:there are few hotels in Juneua with air conditioning and it can get a bit stale
Review 89:customer service. Staff went out of their way to help
Review 90:Everything was excellent
Review 91:Furniture too old and was soiled
Review 92:Proximity to downtown! View from Dining room. Clean and friendly!
Review 93:very helpful staff.
Review 94:Room lighting was too dark in some places for someone with poor eyesight to be able to see well. No good source of ventilation, except windows that open with no screens. The room was adjacent to the parking lot, so opening the windows not only let in air, but bugs and noise. Some of the furniture had ground in dirt and in general the room felt a bit worn and dingy (might have been due to the poor lighting).
Review 95:The location is right on the fringe of downtown and has ample parking which is a premium in Juneau. I was traveling with my elderly handicapped mother and stayed in the handicapped accessible room which was comfortable. Liked that there was a frig and microwave, good Wi-Fi and lots of room. The bed was comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was a full service restaurant on site.
Review 96:This was my second visit to this hotel. The first time was 3 days before the second visit, and then everything was fine. The second visit was not found my order and found a room for us only on the first floor, where I had to go down the stairs. We had a lot of luggage and we also had to pick up the stairs - the elevator to the ground floor does not go down.
Review 97:The hotel looks rundown. No screens on the windows. No air conditioningor fan to cool the room. No airport shuttle. The one computer was beingused by either a family member or staff playing a game and the deskstaff didn't ask him to get off until I had to ask about othercomputers to print out my boarding pass. The maid service was terrible. One bed was left unmade. I went to make coffee for the first time in thein room coffee maker and the pot had remains from the previous person. So gross! The bathroom was cleaned but I was so grossed out by thecoffee maker I would not stay there again nor recommend it. No icemachine. You have to ask at the desk and then they get it from thebar/restaurant. The room did not have a view of water; it had a viewof a construction site and crane.
Review 98:The location was within walking distance to everything we needed; exceptthe airport. We had to pay a taxi since the hotel doesn't have ashuttle. Restaurant attached was good.
Review 99:The room was not as clean as it could have been when we arrived.
Review 100:The location was excellent, easy access ot downtown. We had a view of the water. The staff was very friendly, coffee was waiting for us when I went down in the morning.
Review 101:The hotel is very old, although it looked like they were trying to upgrade some of the rooms. 4 cruise ships in the harbor - downtown was crazy. We ended up moving to a bed and breakfast out of town a bit for the second night. We were visiting from Anchorage just for a get-away romantic weekend. This place did not fit the bill - and it was quite pricey.
Review 102:The breakfast in the restaurant was great. We didn't have it but the buffet looked great but we thought too much to pay. The staff helped as much as they could with things we requested.
Review 103:I could only turn on the TV and adjust volume with the remote, could not get the channels to change and found no instructions. In trying to call the front desk for assistance, the phone did not work; it connected and I could hear the person, but they could not hear me. I gave up in frustration. The following day, house keeping had not made up the bed, which I thought was unusual. Towels had been replaced, but the bed was not made.
Review 104:Downtown waterfront location Onsite dining and lounge area
Review 105:Shower head took too long to get hot water. Ran for 10 min + to get warm. No maid service on Sunday. Could have used cleanup and replenishment of coffee bar items. Furnishings a little dated.
Review 106:Good breakfast. Spatious room. Windows open. Nice fridge. Good location for Centennial Hall.
Review 107:It was located on a busy street with construction on the lot to thenorth of the hotel. The heater in our room would not shut off so theroom was exceptionally hot.
Review 108:The location was close to downtown shops and the performing arts center. It was clean and the bed was comfortable.
Review 109:every thing was great.
Review 110:very friendly, very clean and comfortable. would highly recommend this hotel, the views from the bedroom window was amazing.
Review 111:Loved our room! We had a king size suite. Roomy like a small apartment. Front desk staff were pleasant and helpful!
Review 112:Shower could have had bar for stability, shower head was way to low.
Review 113:Restaurant had good food
Review 114:Lack of airport shuttle, cost of meals and facilities in Juneau itself
Review 115:Location; size of room; helpfulness of staff
Review 116:Excellent location, comfortable room. Good restaurant on site. Good value for money
Review 117:Difficult to find, in an unmarked alley, barely visible from the street.
Review 118:Quiet location, friendly staff
