Reviews for Hotel Pacific

Review 1:Breakfast was really just super basic. I've been to places that have had waffle maker; but just hard boiled eggs; yogurt as a protein source. It was super basic I was hoping for actual real food.

Review 2:Loved the size of our room; fireplace the jacuzzi!!

Review 3:The nightly price was a little high for the facility. Especially the parking at $20 a night. Breakfast was boring after day two. A little more variety or something different every day would've been nice. The bed was hard, I woke up sore every morning.

Review 4:The location is amazing. Quick walking distance to everything and a beautiful walk at that.

Review 5:Very spacious rooms, nicely furnished. Each room has a private balcony, and there are public areas as well that you could make use of. The location is fabulous and close to everything in Monterey.

Review 6:The heater is located at the fireplace so it was cold in the bed area...that they put breakfast away at 10 AM. This was vacation and it would be nice to have it until 11 AM.Glad i was not there when workers were building next door...

Review 7:I appreciated that i was put on the quiet part of the hotel, and loved having the fireplace working..I liked the room. It is romantic.

Review 8:There were some rowdy guests on the same floor and were partying until 4am. I tried calling security on several occasions and no one answered. The following morning (or later that morning) I informed the front desk and they apologized, but that was about it.

Review 9:The room was very clean and spacious. The front desk staff upon arrival and at check-out were exceptionally friendly. The location was great as we were able to bike and walk easily from there.

Review 10:I almost didn't even make it to the room before wanting to leave. There is construction debris, leaking pipes, and old furniture all visible in the underground parking, the elevator was banged up/dirty, the doors to the rooms were scuffed with visible hand-prints, and there was trash in some of the bordering landscaping areas. Water was pooled from rains over a day ago (poor drainage). The room itself seemed clean and was quite nice. The spa area had chipping paint inside the hot tub and the drain on the concrete was clogged with gunk and visible long hairs. Obviously building up for a long time. There was also an orange peel that was moldy and almost turning to mush from having been out there so long. Attention to detail in keeping the grounds nice is very much lacking.

Review 11:The staff was very friendly and responded to our needs for new towels and help with the gas fireplace in a professional and courteous way.

Review 12:wifi was difficult to keep the connection which was irritating when trying to look things up and make bookings. You could pay extra for super fast wifi, but we didn't need that.

Review 13:Lots of space. A small area for making food and drink including microwave, and a sitting area. Good breakfast included.

Review 14:I booked a room with 2 beds (added in the request field) and staff gave us room with one king bed. They also changed us extra to change the room to my original request. Would not recommend to stay in this hotel.

Review 15:Location was good

Review 16:Parking was bad. Getting to your room was odd. No view. The breakfast staff seemed cranky. No local booklets in room about things to see, dining and food delivery. Not sure for cost was a value.

Review 17:Fire place and size of room. Bed was comfortable.Patio was nice. Check in and out staff very nice.

Review 18:Some staff could have been nicer and more helpful. One maid/breakfast worker was rude. Wish we would have gotten her name. Maybe get a more help during that time and seating.

Review 19:Roomy and comfortable rooms. Nice places to sit outside the room and have lunch or just relax. Decent Continental breakfast is good.

Review 20:It was dirty, we had ants in the bathroom and in the dining area. Carpet was dirty. The breakfast was poor and staff never cleaned the tables after previous guest.

Review 21:Room size

Review 22:My only complaint was that our room was not ready until almost 6pm even though check-in time is at 4pm. Thankfully we know the area well and were able to keep busy until our room was ready.

Review 23:The hotel is perfectly located. Short walking distance to downtown and Fisherman's Wharf and a two minute drive to Cannery Row.

Review 24:The breakfast was bad and the service was terrible. There were no dishes or muffins when we walked in to eat. Also no coffee.

Review 25:Location was great, room was nice .

Review 26:Room price. $20 parking fee. Insultingly tiny parking spots. Room is so big TV is way too small to see from beds.

Review 27:Room was big. Bathroom has separate shower and tub/shower. Fireplace and mantle and balcony all nice.

Review 28:For the price I wished the tubs would have been a little bigger.

Review 29:Everything was so comfy!! The fire in the room made everything 100x more romantic and provided the room with a heat without having to turn on the heater.

Review 30:We paid way too much money for what we got! Breakfast was non- existent... Fruit, coffee, tea, cereal and toast... That was it! I expected that for a $330 / night we would have had a waffle -omelette and waffle station. Rude lady staffer at breakfast, she looked overwhelmed and was very snappy towards other guests. Not the kind of service we expected. No phone in room.... Ok but weird.

Review 31:We liked the location, the renovation of the hotel was well done - it was a beautiful property. Front desk staff was nice.

Review 32:We loved the junior suites, complete with sitting area, fireplaces, outdoor balconies, kitchen area, and large bathrooms. We also enjoyed the exterior with fiercest, sitting areas, fountains; great ambience.

Review 33:The bed wasn't as comfortable as I like but that's a personal preference. It was on the firmer side. But literally no major complaints.

Review 34:The renovations were great. You could tell looking at their bathrooms. I love the layout of the suite and the fireplace/seating area was lovely.

Review 35:WiFi was quite poor, and really available only in one courtyard. The Breakfast room breakfast was quite plain.

Review 36:This is a unique hotel, in a style of its own. The suites are very spacious and beds comfortable and fully equipped for travelers who want to do their own breakfast or late evening snack in the room.

Review 37:Very close to Fisherman's Wharf and the conference we were attending, yet removed from the hustle and bustle. Very private, relaxed and personal. Very good breakfast bar. Funky, functional room.

Review 38:The building is old construction (looks good from the outside) you hear every footstep around you--especially above you--even if people are trying to be quiet.. maintenance is bad--cracks in sinks, countertops, tile falling off of walls. No Toilet Paper in room when we arrived--had to go hunt down some, tv remote sort of worked sometimes, breakfast is very budget. They need a total revamp of this facility.

Review 39:The rooms are large and nicely designed--attractive from the outside.

Review 40:The hotel rooms and location don't justify the price. Price too much.

Review 41:Great location, we had a large room with fireplace. Lovely courtyard with fountains.

Review 42:Reservation listed cost as average of 2 days, instead of showing Friday and Saturday price differences.

Review 43:Liked the location and ample parking available.

Review 44:Parking was sparse and at busier times they mentioned they will charge for parking even if you are staying at the hotel. We were able to find street parking to avoid a parking fee. Other negative mark is for price.

Review 45:Location was Excellent. Would not hesitate to stay again. Staff and Facilities were great.

Review 46:Had to request more towels , sheets and room cleanup but it was handled quickly.

Review 47:The room was large enough. Breakfast was convenient and the coffee was very good. The location was good for whale watching. Parking was easy.

Review 48:I didn't like that there was no movies to rent or dvd player to use. The safe was not bolted down to the closet so whats the point of it? Ssomeone could just pick up with the whole thing and leave with it. I didn't like that we only had one bath soap to use for two showers.

Review 49:I liked the size, look and feel of the room. I liked the style and friendly staff. I really liked the two showers in the bathroom. Need to stock the bathroom with soft 2ply toilet paper not the thin hard stuff.

Review 50:We wish the breakfast would have had more options. Plus, there is only one toaster for a ton of people in the morning- add a toaster!

Review 51:Loved the location, the staff was great, super clean and comfortable.

Review 52:Parking was surprisingly expensive. 20$/night is a bit much for something you might expect to be included. The facilities are in some places visibly old, which in ways adds to the charm, but doesn't back up the price tag.

Review 53:The room was nice and the location was close enough while being a bit out of the way.

Review 54:Not necessarily a bad experience but when the weather is warm at night, the lack of air conditioning can leave the room a bit warm for sleeping. Leaving the windows open allows for bugs and noise to enter. Other than that, a fantastic place to stay!

Review 55:One of the two hot tubs had cold water (below 90 degrees) and smelled like it hadn't been serviced in some time. A window in our room was inoperable and the property looked tired (could use a fresh coat of paint throughout). That said, the staff was great and accommodating.

Review 56:Bed was comfortable. Staff was pleasant and accommodating.

Review 57:The only area for improvement would be the breakfast. The selection felt a bit dated (lots of sugary, packaged foods and cereals). For an area of the country with so much fresh, healthy food, this is a bit disappointing. However, breakfast is complimentary, so it's still a nice feature of the stay to have any breakfast option included in the price of the room.

Review 58:The Spanish style of the hotel is so airy, charming, and romantic. The room was large and clean, bed was comfortable, and overall experience was great. The location makes it easy to walk or take the trolley anywhere.

Review 59:Front office staff went out of their way to help us organize our next leg of travel - we are Aussies on the 5th week of an eight week trip around the U.S. Hotel was in a great location to get free tourist tram everywhere & the suite we had was amazing.. Included breakfast was a great bonus as well. Highly recommend.

Review 60:There was refurbishment work going on when we arrived which maybe why the breakfast was such a strange affair! A complimentary breakfast was included but it was in a pokey little room with a limited spread so it wasn't a particularly enjoyable experience. One of our rooms had a weird smell to it and the bathroom smelt a little mildewy. Our bedroom faced the road so the sound of traffic kept us awake. Also the 'queen' beds seemed a little on the small side (not enough room for 2), so we had to ask for the sofa to be made up too. Parking was available but was charged for.

Review 61:This hotel was located in a great position near to loads of restaurants and the waterfront. The decor was nice and the bathroom spacious. There was also a kitchenette and a living area.

Review 62:microwave did not work, the fixed for one usage and then failed again, refer not cold because hasn't been defrosted for a long time. also ist morning room maid service did not replace cups and glasses used or coffee used. way over priced for what we got, this is only a $300.00 a day room all day long. I feel like I got a big time rip off and won't book on line again. Dwayne zajic

Review 63:location

Review 64:No Restaurant and not a great selection for breakfast

Review 65:I loved the room. It was really nice sized and comfortable for the whole family. The hotel was also located in walking distance to downtown Monterey and lots of restaurants.

Review 66:It was confusing to find the room where breakfast was served. Maybe add a few signs leading to the area.

Review 67:The service was great! Everyone was very friendly! The room was very spacious and made it a comfortable place to relax after the day's activities! We will definitely come back to stay here again!

Review 68:The Check in -Service wasn´t how you should expect it. The hotel is not really clean and not maintained as it should be. The price for the area is may normal, but compare to other places it´s overpriced.

Review 69:The Parking-Garage is good. Rooms are large enough with Terrace.

Review 70:No air conditioning and no disclosure anywhere that they don't have A/C. (They will bring a fan if you ask) The breakfast is just barely enough for them to say they offer a breakfast - felt like a deliberately truthful misrepresentation. Charging $20/night for parking in addition to the over-the-top room fee is bilking their customers. The desk staff exhibited no hospitality. They did their job and took our business for granted.

Review 71:Great location and unique room layouts

Review 72:Breakfast was pretty mediocre. Our room was at the back and had no outlook at all. It'd be worth paying extra for a courtyard view.

Review 73:Nice big room with separate sitting area. Good bathroom. The hotel itself is stylishly designed and attractive.

Review 74:Most expensive hotel on the trip, parking cost an additional 20 dollar. Spa section closed off.

Review 75:Really nice hotel room - very comfortable beds, big room, big beds. Best of our three week roadtrip from San Diego to San Francisco.

Review 76:Overall the hotel is very difficult to navigate. We could not find thepool nor the spa at all. The whole campus was dirty bordering on filthy. The breakfast was a joke. Witnessed several people come in for breakfastjust to turn around and leave after viewing the meager display!Definitely not worth the money!

Review 77:The room was satisfactory

Review 78:Some of our glassware didn't get cleaned but was put back with the paper top like it had been.

Review 79:The suite was spacious and very pretty. Each room felt secluded and private.

Review 80:Creamer powder rather than milk cartons... I'm English and need a decent cup of tea in the morning.

Review 81:My daughter left her teddy bears behind and the reception staff organised for them to be sent on to our San Francisco hotel. The location was fabulous for a trot onto Fisherman's Wharf for dinner etc.

Review 82:Continental breakfast sucks in consideration of the room rates. Almost no fresh fruit, coffee empty, no OJ - pretty much cut every corner possible at breakfast.

Review 83:Excellent location, short walk to downtown area, little longer to Cannery Row.

Review 84:Hotel is a little run down, not a disaster, but shows it's age. Price was a little high based on condition, $20 parking fee was a low class management decision, lowers opinion of hotel, all other hotels we stayed parking was free. Over priced room snacks to be avoided.

Review 85:I liked the layout of the room, basic spanish tiles, fireplace, couch and dining area, kitchenette, a lot of room at a fair price, remodeled bathroom with seperate shower and tub, I like shower, wife like the tub, very nice. Good ventilation, balcony with chairs.

Review 86:Spa?!!! A tiny bathtub-like jacuzzi that was out of order. The staff failed to mention all of this so my three young children and I wandered around looking for it for a good long time since the property is under construction and very difficult to navigate.

Review 87:Great room with two beds and a pull out couch, perfect for a family.

Review 88:Patio was on street side.....it was loud traffic noise unless you closed the windows. Waste of a patio.

Review 89:Room was very clean, the staff was great. Bed was very comfortable

Review 90:The decor is a little off but I only noticed it because I love interior design and furniture. It was not enough of a reason to not return.

Review 91:This hotel was in a perfect location and within very close walking distance to downtown, fisherman's Wharf and the walking/bike trail. Cannery Row is only a 2 mile walk away as well. I mentioned that I planned a surprise weekend trip celebrating my husbands birthday and we received a complimentary upgrade and received a newly renovated interior room. They even included a hand written birthday card, a small box of chocolate and complimentary bottled water. We were on the 3rd level so our room had beautiful vaulted ceilings. The rooms are large and clean. The bed was comfortable and the bathrooms were large and had a separate shower from the tub. They are under construction but it didn't bother me. I would stay here again for sure!

Review 92:Large third floor room with balcony, overlooking a beautiful courtyard and huge fountain that can be heard from the room. Definitely a step I'll in space compared to our wee room in San Francisco. You're within walking distance of most everything.

Review 93:Parking is limited. Stalls are very tight which makes it hard to get out once you get parked. Seems they overbook the parking.

Review 94:Location was great. Quick walk to the Wharf and local shopping.

Review 95:Missing amenities, little things like "Do Not Disturb" sign, correct number of towels, trash can, etc. Rooms were not air conditioned and we never received the fan we requested. Walls are thin and all outside noises permeated into the room. Staff was not friendly and bordered on rude at times.

Review 96:Room was spacious. Bedding was nice. I enjoyed sitting on the patio overlooking the courtyard.

Review 97:I have stayed here over the years and the newly updated rooms are great but didn't lose the feel of a great room and fireplace. Walk to downtown one block and a great deli next door no reason to stay anywhere else.

Review 98:Wifi wasn't usable, housekeeping dumped my tea and entered my room while the do not disturb sign was on the door, the elevator was disgusting and stopped at the 3rd floor every time. I would not recommend this place.

Review 99:Nothing

Review 100:Construction noise. Dirty from construction in garage and walkways. They tried to turn a Spanish Adobe Style resort into something more modern and butchered the original bones. Oddly enough they kept the saltillo tile on the counters in kitchens and hallways which now look mismatched with the new theme of "costal elegance". They would have been much better off to refresh the original theme and stay true to the California hacienda style roots. It is one thing that made this Hotel so charming.

Review 101:Comfy bed. Even though I miss the old feather beds and luxurious down comforters they used to have...but you will be comfortable in their rooms. The two most important things to get right they did, the bed and the shower! The mismatched decor may bother you if you care about that. The location is great, walking distance to everything. Friendly staff.

Review 102:The room 410 needed updating. There is a hole in ceiling where light should be above kitchenette. The air was streaming through the closed windows.

Review 103:Unfortunately, hotel refurbishment was not quite complete when we were there but this hotel will be amazing when totally finished.

Review 104:The decor is just beautiful. Facilities excellent.

Review 105:Although we were told that the bed was new it was incredibly hard. We both woke up with back pain. Since we still had 2 nights of our stay we went out and bought a mattress pad.

Review 106:The decor was lovely. The courtyard fountain was beautiful.

Review 107:The breakfast was not good. This by far has been the worst hotel breakfast in my time. There was no cooked food. Nothing really warm to put in your stomach.they need to ramp this up. It really upset me that morning.

Review 108:I like the overall look of the hotel. It was an hacienda feel. But once you open the door to your room, it was a modern elegant comfortable slice of paradise.

Review 109:A bit dated and terrible breakfast. No apologies from staff for the inconvenience of having to eat breakfast in a room not fit for the purpose, lack of seating, tables and food and drink !!

Review 110:Good location

Review 111:Suite access location was far and poor. No official lobby location and breakfast was in a small room with snack food, not a real good sit down breakfast area.

Review 112:The junior luxury suite was nice and had a little patio.

Review 113:Self service breakfast very busy, unable to sit together as a family. Hotel provide trays to take breakfast back to you room. Parking expensive but convenient.

Review 114:Location a short walk from the pier. Good size room with real fire. Adequate WiFi. Breakfast included. Hotel is process of being refurbished.

Review 115:Breakfasts could be better need to have better toasters waited to long for bagels and toast line at the toasters. Boiled eggs tasted old after a day or two could have a better variety.

Review 116:Hotel is in a good location rooms were very clean and comfortable.

Review 117:Dirty, dingy, not what we expect for $300/night. Not well maintained and skimp on a lot of basic amenities.

Review 118:Great location in the heart of Monterey.

Review 119:hot tub is locked up and unable for use, couch is very uncomfortable. overall experience here was not satisfactory, for four star hotel it needs to be better.

Review 120:location, just a few block away from the old fishermans warf

Review 121:Construction was going on noisy in the afternoon (while trying to nap). Elevator was out of service, refrigerator was unplugged. A construction truck blocked our car in the parking lot...took about 15 minutes before we could get out.

Review 122:Size of room, floor plan of suite, fireplace and privacy of room.

Review 123:Our room was loud, because it was by a busy road. In the morning and at night we could hear traffic. Free breakfast was pretty bad and not a great selection.

Review 124:Rooms are very nice. Comfortable beds and cozy with fireplace. We also had a private porch.

Review 125:Awesome once again. Their manager was very understanding we went through a travel agency (our first mistake). But the hotel manager made everything great. We love the place this was our 2nd time stay there. Can't beat the price for the area walking distance to most area and 3-5minute drive to cannery st. Please stay away from Pelican Pizza, just saying. peace out.

Review 126:Nothing about the experience was awful, although we had trouble sleeping with the unseasonable February heat and no way to cool the room. But it was the single most I've ever paid for a night in a hotel, and it was not worth half what we paid.

Review 127:Nothing about it was worth the price we paid. It was a perfectly average hotel at a ridiculous boutique price.

Review 128:The room was very roomy with sofa, fireplace, big screen TV. Loved the old wood floors and comfy king bed. The bathroom was newly updated and very large. Loved the French door to balcony and shutters on windows.

Review 129:The place was under construction. The elevator was frightening from the way it operated to the slime on on the walls, very unclean. Have to pay 20.00/day to park!!!!(totally unacceptable. The continental breakfast was lacking. We have stayed in Best Westerns for half the price and had a complete breakfast and not the dried out rolls they consider breakfast. Walls are paper thin and everything can be heard that is happening outside the room and in the adjoining rooms. Bottom line, definitely not worth 189.00/night

Review 130:This was a gift to my daughter-in-law for her birthday. They loved the room and my son said the bed was the best ever! The room was large and comfortable and the fireplace was cozy. He also stated it was very clean. The staff was friendly and courteous.

Review 131:Parking fee ridiculous and we weren't told there was one Too many lamps in weird places Not outside table

Review 132:We love the pet friendly The room was nice Patio great

Review 133:The rooms were very dated and noisy. The continental breakfast could use a few more choices. Overall very disappointed with our stay.

Review 134:It was centrally located.

Review 135:We had a very good experience. The only thing that did not work for us was the two queen suite that is billed as large enough for four people. It works for two adults and two small children, perhaps, but not three or four adults. The queen beds seemed small to us. Also, the breakfast was okay, but not memorable.

Review 136:The location, having convenient parking, the comfort of the room with balcony, two zoned heat and a fireplace. Walk to the Fisherman's wharf and convention center. Nice. The tile and adobe structure was pleasant, with balconies in the rooms, overlooking courtyards with fountains, very pleasant. The kitchen area, with table, fridge and microwave came in handy since one family member was not feeling well.

Review 137:Nothing to place suitcase on, dirty sofa, no pen or pencil, airplane noise all night, had to call desk twice to get room cleaned, no screens on windows, ice machine 2 floors down, garage area near elevator unsightly & dirty. I'll go back to Pratola hotel next time.

Review 138:Location.

Review 139:730am. Baby's up and walking around the hotel room. Downstairs neighbor calls front desk to complain that we are jumping up and down. Walls must be too thin.
