Reviews for Battleground Inn - Greensboro
Review 1:we stayed during major rain (which flooded outlying areas). windows appeared to be leaking. did not affect our comfort but shows the facility needs some maintenance.
Review 2:friendly, helpful staff. very clean and quiet room. great wifi. lots of cable channels.
Review 3:No ice machine on 4th floor. Had to go to another floor for ice. Also, I thought the heater was a bit noisy.
Review 4:Location was great -- close to family that I was visiting.
Review 5:Room television did not work during a three-day stay and was not fixed although reported on the first day. Vending machines did not work.
Review 6:Good location. Courteous front desk staff.
Review 7:I had to pay up front for the entire stay! Never had to do that beforeat ANYother hotel! And I didn't like the "Eye" on the tv -it was "supposedly not a camera. It was for the remote. However, when we covered it, the remote still worked. (?)
Review 8:It was quiet and the maids were great. It was close to many restaurantsand pretty much centrally located to every place we had to go.
Review 9:this is not a bad experience but I'm an amputee and could have used shower chair. It was an inconvenience but bearable.
Review 10:It was clean, secure, in a good location and friendly. Overall very nice and I would gladly recommend this place to anyone. Thank you.
Review 11:Breakfast was all starches - good but not for someone who is diabetic. There needs to be some kind of protein offered.
Review 12:Great location and very comfortable beds
Review 13:we wish there had been a few other options for breakfast
Review 14:The bed was very comfy. It was quiet, we didn't hear a lot of noise out in the corridor. When we had trouble with the tv, a staff member came up right away, she was very friendly & helpful
Review 15:Staff-not unfriendly but showed no extra effort, seemed uninterested in guests; breakfast very poor (cold cereal small muffins, small bagels); bed pillows not very full and comfortable; window A/C very loud. Window in room very dirty on outside.
Review 16:Location was convenient for our purposes, close to restaurants, shopping, McKay Used Books. Elevators were fast (only four floors)
Review 17:Had to ask for an iron and not every floor has ice.
Review 18:The location was conveniently situated for me. Honestly I did not spend a lot of time at the facility.
Review 19:I did not feel safe in the hotel. Since I booked with <booking.com>, I could not use my AARP card and the price was $10.00 more than quoted over the phone. The bathroom floor sinks down toward the tub-weird!
Review 20:Convenience to my father's place of living. Comfortable beds.
Review 21:Overall condition of the facility has declined significantly since my last stay a few years ago. Definitely not worth $100 per night.
Review 22:Location was very convenient to my activities in WayGreensboro.
Review 23:First room had standing water in bathroom floor 1/2" deep.Carpet looked dirty, cheap towels and showerhead was a hand-held model,Hard to aim.
Review 24:Frige in room, Good TV.
Review 25:The beds were uncomfortable. Each morning everyone had sore backs. The continental breakfast offerings were disappointing. IHOP across the street.
Review 26:Pleasantly surprised... was better than expected. Staff was friendly.
Review 27:We were in Greensboro for the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament. The hotel was only a 10 minute, straight shot route, to the Greensboro Coliseum. Also, there were several good restaurants very close by. Extremely friendly staff. While the hotel was not a 5 star it certainly was well-kept, clean, comfortable, and convenient. We would stay there again if in the area.
Review 28:I was not allowed to use my city discount because I booked online. I was told that I could not cancel the booking, and therefore could not rebook for the discount.
Review 29:Close to work, I needed a place to stay during a snow storm, I am critical personnel for the city.
Review 30:We had reservations for 2 rooms for 1 night. When we arrived, there was 1 room with 2 beds. Not sure if they had us for one or two nights. Luckily, there was a 2nd room available!. The lobby was so cold when we got there at 10 pm. We couldn't believe it when we got to our rooms and the heat was off. We had to turn the heat up as high as it would go. It took more than 20 minutes to get to a temperature where we could remove our coats. Finally, the breakfast is a joke. Do not plan on eating here!
Review 31:Room was clean.
Review 32:Over the last couple years that we have been staying at the hotel we've noticed little things slipping. The breakfast choices have decreased, friendliness of staff to accommodate guests is not as friendly, and the hotel could use some updates including painting, windows that fog up, and better shower/bathroom conditions.
Review 33:It was clean but very, very worn. My room was supposed to be a non smoking room but either someone hadn't followed the rules or the rooms next to me were smoking rooms.
Review 34:The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. The location is great; close to restaurants, shopping and the highway.
Review 35:Wifi was a little weak. Had no other complaints.
Review 36:The location was good. Surrounded by a lot of food, drink, and shopping. Close enough to downtown without being in the middle of it all. An older hotel, but it is clean and well kept. Breakfast is a light continental.
Review 37:Needed to switch rooms since they had me next to the lobby and elevator. Breakfast choices could have been better.
Review 38:Location
Review 39:Bed was terrible.
Review 40:N/A
Review 41:there were bugs in my room
Review 42:nothing in particular
Review 43:No faults found.
Review 44:Location and cost
Review 45:Price was a bit high.
Review 46:Friendly customer service.
Review 47:Breakfast could have offered more of a selection. Bagels or cereal would be nice
Review 48:Great location. Easy to access restaurants and shopping
Review 49:The room didn't have an iron and ironing board
Review 50:The price was fantastic compared to other near by hotels
Review 51:Breakfast was a little disappointing
Review 52:room was not clean- ice machine was broken. the room was a 59.95 a night room
Review 53:location
Review 54:Problem with the electric that was fixed after I reported it.
Review 55:Great spot to use as a base for seeing the city.
Review 56:My husband and I both had a good night sleep with no back ache the following day. Not so for most hotels.
Review 57:location ,very convenient for our trip.
Review 58:I went their primarily because it was close to my friend's house. Turned out to be nice.
Review 59:Location was great everything close by. Also it was quite close to my relatives
Review 60:The bed is too high for me to get on need to low as I am too short to reach
Review 61:Small parking lot
Review 62:Older place but clean.
Review 63:Charged for software support, a hidden fee. Not enough pillows towels and chairs.
Review 64:Location was good.
Review 65:We checked in, saw the room and checked out. It was dingy, dirty, and felt unsafe.
Review 66:Excellent location and fantastic price.
Review 67:The breakfasts, needs more protein and fruit.
Review 68:Local to where my daughter lives. The hotel is clean and affordable.
Review 69:Attendant did not have a positive attitude and did not seem to care about the water pressure when I told her about it.
Review 70:The staff was over the top nice!
Review 71:Would like a little more variety such as yoghurt, granola bar , fruit.
Review 72:A bit pricy for accommodations. You could have improved on that with some fruit included in the breakfast.
Review 73:Approx. 5 minutes from family I visited.
Review 74:Nothing!
Review 75:Location is close to UNCG Clean room
Review 76:Hotel was a bit dated every thing was clean and in good repair however furnishings were dated and needed a larger TV
Review 77:Location was good for our plans price was reasonable
Review 78:The taxes weren't included in the price and that 12.5% extra was a surprise. That's more Booking.com's issue, coupled with my inattention, than the hotel's, but it could have been avoided. The staff were not overly friendly, and when I pointed out a wrong hotel phone number on the Booking.com reservation, the staff member showed no interest. Too bad, but not a huge deal.
Review 79:The hallways were quite elegant, surprisingly, the rooms were nice, there was a filtered water dispenser in the lobby, free wifi, and parking was very convenient. I would definitely stay there again.
Review 80:Cable went out at 10:40am. I'd like to think it was just a fluke. However, check-out was 11:00am and housekeeping was already knocking on the door by 11:05am (as we were heading out).
Review 81:Great value for money. Room was nice. The location was convenient to Battleground Ave Nightlife which is a great alternative to Downtown Greensboro. I'd probably stay there again.
Review 82:Staff were not friendly nor helpful with knowledge of the area. The "HOT Breakfast" was limited to a toasted Bagel so we ate out. The room was small for a king room and the shower water pressure was terrible. I reported the shower handle as being loose and it was not looked at. The overall feel of this hotel was very dated. It was also noisy after midnight as there seemed to be some sort of party group on our floor. I would not stay here again.
Review 83:Not a lot to like about this place other than the bed was comfortable.
Review 84:TV was way out of date, and the breakfast is almost non existent.
Review 85:Room was clean, and room service keep fresh towels daily. It's also close to stores, and food.
Review 86:The bathroom was small and not totally usable for a handicapped person which I am. I had requested an accessible room when making the reservation. Was never told it was unavailable.
Review 87:Staff was helpful and friendly.
Review 88:I found the property to be clean, comfortable and a good value. Being relatively less expensive than higher end hotels doesn't mean cheap. Clean, comfortable, friendly service and good value wins the day with more customers and the property owner.
Review 89:We went to breakfast at IHOP as the high carb continental breakfast available at the hotel wasn't what we eat for breakfast. For an independent hotel, and the room rate, I'd like to see some hot options and some egg options. Otherwise everything else was very nice.
Review 90:The hotel was very busy but we heard no noise outside our room for the whole night. So we actually slept very well for a strange place. Also the bed was very firm which meant my husband didn't have to sleep on the floor, as he has with some other hotels.
Review 91:The Battleground Inn gets a thumbs up. The staff was very friendly andvery helpful During our stay it was during strom leon which we was leftus stranded In greensborro nc for a extra day due cancelation. The staffwas helpful in finding us transportation to get home and made us verycomfortable. I would definitely stay here again.
Review 92:there wasn't much in the way of sugar free or fresh breakfast. Even plain oatmeal with bananas would have been great- also the coffee is watery. We needed to go out for coffee in the morning
Review 93:There was about 5 stale muffins in the morning to my kids to nibble onbefore their soccer tournament. The coffee was out when I went down forthe stale muffins. I need shampoo and conditioner - not together in onebottle and please give more than one soap. I need one for shower andone for sink (not including face soap). If price was 20 bucks cheaper,I would have been 100% satisfied. It needed to be at least10 bucksunder 100.
Review 94:The receptionist was very friendly and nice. The beds were verycomfortable. Location was perfect/close to everything and in a nicearea of town.
Review 95:Shuttle was as close to hotel as described b ut wasn't that bigof a deal.
Review 96:We visited North Carolina to attend the furniture market. The price andvalue for this hotel was excellent, especially during the market. Pleasenote that you need to walk down to the Proximity hotel in order to get ashuttle to High Point but its only a 5-10 minute walk. The room wasclean and the staff was also very friendly. There are also some niceplaces to eat in the area ( Ruth Chris's, Chipolte, ect.). I will bestaying there again next year.
Review 97:The pillows and towels were not the best. The pillows need to be replaced and towels were old.
Review 98:The staff was very good and helpful. The hotel is very clean and well run. We enjoyed our stay.
Review 99:Price was a little too high. For what we got it should have been in the $75 range.
Review 100:Clean comfortable and quiet.
Review 101:The roads around there are tricky to navigate.
Review 102:We liked the location to restaurants, the bike trails, and the stadium.
Review 103:Entrance should be hands free
Review 104:Location and quiet
Review 105:Water pressure in shower was not very good.
Review 106:Overall it was a good place to stay.
Review 107:Needs a little updating.. Bedspreads have been the same for 10 years..
Review 108:Excellent Location for what we needed. Clean and Comfy
Review 109:Shower. No vent fan in bathroom
Review 110:Location value for cost
Review 111:Had trouble checking in.Could not communicate well with desk clerk. Breaksfast was no good.
Review 112:Very small room, incredibly slow Wi-Fi, frugal breakfast.
Review 113:Goos location.
Review 114:Checkout is at 12
Review 115:The smell of perfume cleaning products make my head hurt in the room.
Review 116:the refg. microwave the welcome of the front desk enjoy my visit everytime.
Review 117:everything was fine
Review 118:price, convenience
Review 119:Bed was too hard for my back.
Review 120:Clean towels every day. Dark curtains.
Review 121:I enjoy everything about the Battleground Inn
Review 122:Wireless internet is unreliable
Review 123:Friendly staff Clean rooms Great price point Access to computer and printer in lobby Light grab and go breakfast
