Reviews for Discovery Inn
Review 1:The website promised a breakfast until 1030 am on Sundays but when we arrived at 1010am they told us they were only serving until 0930
Review 2:They were kind and gave us $20 back for the breakfast issue (but I would have preferred to have a breakfast and have more apologies) The bed was big and comfortable
Review 3:We ask for a wake up call , we never had it.... And the breakfast was not totally ready at 6h ...and the employed look like not really happy to help us..long time before have hot water in the shower
Review 4:Big room , nice service when we Arrive. The girl was super nice.
Review 5:entire room smelled like a cigarette, breakfast was pretty gnarly. without the hot tubs i would have been bummed.
Review 6:loved the hot tubs! comfy bed and flatscreen. pool was big but out of season.
Review 7:The pics show this lovely place with wood decor and statues outside but in reality the statues were fake (not real wood at all)! The room needed to be updated seriously!! cracks in the walls and floors, the bathroom had gaps between the bathtub and the floor. I was waiting for a roach to come crawling out of somewhere!!
Review 8:The room was big and it was only $10 extra for my dog and it was right off the freeway.
Review 9:The room we stayed in was unfinished. It looked like they added sheet rock to a door area but it was never finished or painted. They had beds and furniture stacked outside on the floor above us which was very tacky. We could hear the manager yelling at someone in his office through our walls. The place was painted in hideous colors. I typically stay at 3 star hotels but thought that this might be OK, based on the website. I will not return.
Review 10:The hotel was right off the main street. The staff were pleasant when we checked in.
Review 11:Thr first room we got was dirty, the second room had no air conditioning, a broken handle on the shower (causing water to spill out on the floor), the coffee maker didnt work, and bed bugs in the bed with us. When we (and 3 other couples complained of this issue and wished to speak to management, the staff hid in the back room and took phone calls from the back office for 20 minutes until they thought we had gone. They returned, and told us, "These things happen, you get what you pay for, we arent a 4 star resort or anything. You were lucky to get a bed."
Review 12:The front desk person when we checked in was not very friendly did not tell us anything about the hotel. Would not of known they had breakfast if I did not see the kitchen area, who knows when the pool or hot tub closed?? Not very welcoming at all.
Review 13:Room was clean, but sink had a huge crack in it. Our first room did not have a refrigerator or microwave like the booking said. They moved us to another room no problem, but it was a very old room, not the remodeled room we thought we were getting.
Review 14:Limited channels on TV with "fuzzy" screens. Wifi did not work well. No hair dryer, but luckily I brought my own.
Review 15:convenient location just off freeway. comfortable bed, Adequate bathroom. Refrigerator (actually 2, for some reason) and microwave.
Review 16:Nothing to hang clothes on in closet, poor lighting, mismatched curtains, holes in blackout blind. Seems as though the rooms are used for long term living and not kept up. too much money for the stay.
Review 17:I was charged $120+ (excluding 11% tax) per night for a room that was toinclude refrig, and microwave, neither of which were provided. Also noremote for tv and not even an alarm clock/radio. Room was not madeup and no soap +towels were provided until I specifically requested them2nd evening. Room was obviously stripped of amenities that I was payingfor. I negotiated with the Motel Manager for reduction in room pricebecause of the reduction of service, but have not yet received a finalstatement/receipt for service, so don't know if charges wereactually reduced, though the motel has my credit card number and mayhave gone ahead and charged me anyway? I am hoping this will be resolvedsatisfactorilly, but so far I have been ignored. I understand that theDiscovery Inn and other motels in Ukiah are filled with fire-fightersdue to the Clear Lake area wildfires, but the Inn is not fighting thefires, their business is actually booming, so if their help isstretched, that still is no excuse for over-charging for services notprovided. Instead of $120+/nite, this room charge should probably bereduced to between $80-90/night, given the reduced amenitiesprovided, and that is what the Manager had verbally agreed to with me.
Review 18:Not much
Review 19:First of all, there were ants all over this room. The curtains had holesall over them and very dirty. The smoke alarm battery was going out andbeeped all night, tried to call the front desk and no answer. We had totake out the battery ourselves, The tv hardly worked. Some channels wereblack, some no sound. The over place was very dirty. Couldn't waitto get out of there.i wouldn't even give it the 3.3 review youcalculated
Review 20:Nothing
Review 21:The pet area was crowded with construction debris. The motel is remodeling so there was at of constructio. Also there is no pool that was disappointing since they advertised a pool.
Review 22:The hotel is rated a 1 by us. The first room assigned to us stunk, the carpet was in poor condition, the refrigerator did not work and they refused to let us out of the second night reservation even though it was 24 hours ahead of reservation. The next room was not as bad rv but the toilet seat was broken and pinched when sat on, the curtains had holes in them and the room was not real clean. We stayed but will not retrun, the "Ukiah finest" should be an embarrassment to the town.
Review 23:Clerk at desk was kind and helpful.
Review 24:One of the staff was smoking next to the entrance of the building and again by the entrance to the Jacuzzi room. Wifi did not work at all.
Review 25:Biscuits and Gravy. Jacuzzi room was empty at 9pm and also at 11am, had it to ourselves.
Review 26:the room first given was very small and smelled horrible. There were broken toilet paper holders and outdated linens. Decor was also outdated.
Review 27:space of the second room provided
Review 28:check out on the door says noon but the receipt says 11, regardless if check out is 11 then knock on my door around 10am not 11am harassing me to get out or pay
Review 29:I liked the big room for a decent room
Review 30:The pool was not operational and we were specifically looking for a place with a pool as we had three young children. We also wanted a good hot breakfast, and we were very disappointed. The milk was sitting out and warm, there were ants on the juice spickets, and food was unappealing. The rooms were out dated, but clean. Didn't like having police in the parking lot looking for someone, who they later arrested.
Review 31:Slow, slow service that started with giving us the wrong room (queen instead of king) and then having to wait and wait for them to change it and lug our stuff to another building ourselves. Then we received a letter from the health department saying we had been exposed to Legionnaire's Disease because we stayed there !
Review 32:Large rooms, comfortable bed, fairly clean
Review 33:Pool looked like it had not been full for years. Google Earth shows it full, but it was not just empty and dry, but decrepit. Motel like a ghost town, about a hundred rooms, maybe 15 cars in lot on summer weekend. 4 spas? All closed. Part of he facility appears to have been converted to SRO. Big disappointment. But Ukiah a good place to visit and bicycle.
Review 34:I reserved a King downstairs I am handicapped. Got a Queen upstairs. Room was 90 degrees when we went in. The AC work good if your were in front of it. That must be why it blew directly on the bed. It freeze the bed while the rest of the room is still hot. TV had bad reception and Wifi did not work. Pool and spa were both closed for repairs in early August when it was over 100 degrees outside.
Review 35:The wood carvings out front were great. The counter staff was good and polite when she was able to take care of me. The 45 minutes I had to wait to get to my turn was lousy. Her not telling me I was getting a queen instead of a king wasn't very professional or honest.
Review 36:The pool was not working. None of the spas were working. The room we had while clean was beat up and the wall paper was pealing; the walk way was propped up with a metal post...some of the residents appeared to be put there by the county for emergency housing. 3 weeks after my stay the public health nurse called to notify me that I might have been exposed to legionnaire's disease...not a very good choice.
Review 37:The breakfast was very good and the staff was very responsive to requests.
Review 38:The entire property was in disrepair. The room was dirty, all pictures were gone with holes still in the walls. There were at least 3 guys just hanging around the fitness and Jacuzzi building staring at their smart phones and watching our every move looking like they were making drug deals. The personnel said they were guests and couldn't do anything about it. It is nothing like the online pictures look and does not match any of the descriptions either.
Review 39:Drug use going on outside of room in middle of night. No hot water in bath sink. Light in bath worked on and off. Entire facility is run down and constantly overrun with transients and drug users. Not a safe place. checked out early because of it. Told owners at check out. They could have cared less.
Review 40:all three hot tub was not working as well as the pool. We drive a long way for a unhappy place. My room card did not work, called front desk, could not go any where because of key not working.
Review 41:The wood caving was nice on the out side of the Motel.
Review 42:Chose this hotel even though it was 30 minutes farther away and more expensive than other similar options because of the hot tubs. Pool, spa, hot tubs closed.
Review 43:Big room. Lots of TV channels.
Review 44:1. There was a big wad of hair on the shower wall that grossed me out. Not just a stray hair or two; I'm talking a clump. 2. The bottom sheet wasn't wide enough for the bed and kept coming out from where it was tucked in under the side edges of the mattress. I hate it when motels use cheap sheets; it reflects a lack of attention to detail. 3. The whole place is kind of rundown. Hallways feel dingy and dark. Could use some serious updating. But it was ok in a pinch; I was exhausted and just needed a bed I could sleep ok in -- instead of falling asleep at the wheel!
Review 45:Free breakfast that included hard boiled eggs, not just all the usual wheat-based processed products that I don't eat. Didn't get a chance to try pool but it looked inviting, and there were several hot tubs though I didn't try those either.
Review 46:The pictures look great but it's nothing like the actual room that you get when you check in. The room was pretty clean but old and a bit tattered. It is pretty cheap, so in this case, you get what you paid for!
Review 47:We enjoyed the hot tub after a long day of travel, but that is the only thing we liked! We had to change rooms because the AC was broken, then in the 2nd room our TV was terrible.
Review 48:Staff is nice and tries to please, however have no support or direction from management for dealing with problems. On weekend had loud music from banquet hall, drunk party in parking lot. Many complaints from guests, had to call police myself.
Review 49:The room was located way in the back because I had a small dog. This area housed all of the low life that checked in. Noisy people coming and going all hours of night, cursing, loud music. The bed I slept in I could feel the springs through the mattress cover, the room smelled like someone had smoked pot, and the carpet was dirty and sticky. The fridge door was broken, it was a horrible horrible room and stay at this hotel. Never again!
Review 50:The pool was nice, clean. The best part was checking out.
Review 51:both nights had loud parties in many rooms, my brother called the office 5 times between 10pm and 4am - police were called the second night. the pool is green and the bottom is peeling, the towels are like sandpaper- will not stay there again
Review 52:location
Review 53:my girlfriend and I left to hang out with some friends (who had had a baby just 13 days prior to our stay at Discovery Inn) when we returned to the end we found at our door had been left open by housekeeping. My girlfriend tried to call the front desk to let them know what had happened. Although nothing had been stolen from our room, which was lucky, we felt we needed to inform the staff to avoid any further mishaps. My girlfriend was hung up on by the front of house staff. she then headed down to the front desk to talk to the woman in person. Upon her arrival she was rebuked rudely and told to go back to your room or sit down unless she wanted the cops called on her. by then went down to ask to speak to the manager because this was wholly unacceptable. They refused to let us actually speak with the manager. Apparently he was in a meeting that lasted from 7 p.m. Through the whole night. Although we had left cell phone number for him to call when he was done with the meeting he elected not to. The front desk staff would not let us check out because we had made a two-day reservation through booking.com. She didn't want to reverse the charge for the second night or know how to deal with that. Without a manager on duty we had no choice but to stay there for the second night. They forced us just stay there and then did not deal with the situation adequately.
Review 54:they have 24 hour check in.
Review 55:very out of date...carpet was filthy....bedding had stains....if repairs or renovations have been made they were done very poorly. Shampoo and conditioner were in a packet rather than in bottles so not enough for more than 1 use by 1 person.
Review 56:Everything
Review 57:Rude people
Review 58:The rooms were dated, but the worst is they are rude
Review 59:The new gravy served at breakfast.
Review 60:Really like the new flooring; so much easier to clean and more sanitary than carpeting.
Review 61:$50 deposit sucks
Review 62:Loved the free breakfast
Review 63:I didn't like to find a roach in my room
Review 64:I love the whole hotel
Review 65:The rooms could have been a lot cleaner but overall it was a good stay for the money that I paid.
Review 66:Bathroom fan had no cover over it. Bathroom lighting was terrible. Air conditioner did not function properly.
Review 67:Bed was comfortable
Review 68:no lamps no chairs no closet
Review 69:The Jacuzzi!
Review 70:Low quality furnishings and rough area
Review 71:Too many police officers driving through the parking lot
Review 72:Very nice, and helpful
Review 73:It was dirty
Review 74:Breakfast,location,rates
Review 75:Ants took over the room, they were everywhere
Review 76:Exposed electrical outlets behind beds that shorted out of you say on bed, killing the lights.
Review 77:Location.
Review 78:A pool was advertised but it was empty and they said they are getting rid of it.
Review 79:Willing to work with us to stay away from other loud guests.
Review 80:Room
Review 81:Location and value
Review 82:Pool and hot tubs were out of order. I wouldn't have stayed if I had known that
Review 83:Comfortable bed
Review 84:The room SMELLED.
Review 85:Since I was using the facility to sleep (check in at 10PM/ check out at 430AM) it was OK, price was OK
Review 86:The hot tubs are nice and the room was clean.
Review 87:The TV was a bit old and the free breakfast was a bit underwhelming.
Review 88:The location is really close to 101, across the street from a big grocery store, and next to a McDonalds. Our room was quiet. Yay for a waffle maker at breakfast
Review 89:They charged me more than what it was booked for and could not give us the room we booked with the king size bed. It was crowded, noisy and the staff seemed unconscious. The breakfast room was too small for all the guests and we could not get in. This place is a waste of time.
Review 90:The only thing I didn't like was that one staff member
Review 91:Most of the staff (all but one) is always amazing here.when I was homeless in Ukiah and had the money for they rent but not the deposit their was always something they could do..... They seem to always been in a good mood...
Review 92:Motel is totally run down and in disrepair. Room was not clean at all. Bathroom was terrible. Shower had mold and mildew in tile and on the floor. Shower handle only partially attached to the valve. Old holes in the walls and desperatlely needed paint. Carpet worn and frazzled and looked like it had not been vacuumed in quite a while. I booked the room for 2 night, however, due to the room conditions, I left after the first night and got another room elsewhere. Save the aggravation, and your money, and choose another motel. This one is a total dump!
Review 93:There was really nothing to like about this motel.
Review 94:Well unfortunately, I missed the breakfast, but that's no biggy! I was too lazy to Wake up that early! Love the hotel!!
Review 95:What I loved about this place while traveling was that I didn't have to wait too long to get my room, the staff were really nice and it was really beautiful. I'll go back again definitely!
Review 96:It was very rundown the towels and sheets were thin and old we didnt even want to shower the beds were worn down and very uncomfortable we were head up for money as soon as we got there
Review 97:Maria at the front desk. And how I was called a liar when I explained Ihad checked in with a baby and not a dog. I still was charged 110$ formy daughter. Who is not a dog. But they told me they saw me with a dog.(I don't even own a dog not even a dog person) said the middle agedman with blue contacts in the lobby. Although if stayed there for 3weeks and never once saw this person at all.
Review 98:How at 11:02 if you didn't make it down to the lobby to let the veryrude maria know you would like to stay another week the managers sonicely knock on your doordoor every few minutes and then stare at youwith blank expressions. Until 11:01am they are courteous almostgenuinely. If your looking for a comfortable homey feel just like thelow income housing projects this place is perfect. Even has lots ofpeople on drugs 24/7 and hourly police drive throughs to keep upthis ficade.
Review 99:The dirty rooms. Carpet made our feet literally black. Non smoking roomsmelled like smoke. The breakfast was waffles and biscuits and gravydaily. If u were are health contious u were out of luck no milk to drinkor fruit or yogurt like u see in every continental breakfast on earth..I stayed for 2 1/2 weeks and I wasn't told of the weekly rateuntil after being charged that It was 15$ more for 5 more days but sinceI wasn't informed until after. Id had to pay $60 cancellation fee toget this . Maria the front desk is unreasonable. Very hard to talk toand just seems to hate her job or just the general public. She is theworst part of the entire place. Very very rude. I will never stay thereand wouldn't recommend it if she is still employee there. She makesthe owners look like invalids keeping on the face of their motel someoneso careless and rude.
Review 100:The hotel charged my credit card without my authorization for a service that I did not receive. I have called repeatedly to get a refund a the manager hasn't even called me back. Don't give these people your credit card.
Review 101:Once I arrived at the Hotel the price was high than quoted to me onthe site, I showed it to the clerk but was still charged more thanthe quote.
Review 102:The convence of the location,
Review 103:Our room had not been properly cleaned. There was food in the fridge and old soap in the tub. The place was under construction, which may have disrupted services.
Review 104:The fact that we had the wrong room keyed to our cards, the hair stubble covered shower stall (it made me feel dirty) and the poor kept up area for pets, they say they are pet friendly but didn't have a pet friendly room for us, the pet area was full of fox tails. It would have been nice if it was fenced off so the dogs could run around without the leashes on.
Review 105:The spa.... Was nice to use after a long day exploring ft bragg and the trees.
Review 106:Noise level was very disturbing. People in nearby room(s) were very loud until 4:00 a.m. talking, laughing, shutting doors, etc. . . . all very clearly heard from my room.
Review 107:The room was clean and neat with all amenities provided that are usually provided in a motel room. Noise in the adjacent room(s) was the only down side of my stay.
Review 108:not sure they can do anything for this but everytime we stay there we ask for a nonsmoking room, Not this time but the last time (which was over 1 yr and ahalf ago, we got to change rooms and the other room smelt of smoke as well, but did not as for another room cause we didn't want to keep changing rooms. but when I step into the room I can smell the smoke. we didn't ask to change this time cause it was too late when we got to the room. We did not get very good night sleep, beds where not that comfortable.
Review 109:It was close for us to vist my brother. clean and very reasonable. The improvements so far are looking good.
Review 110:It's a "work in progress." Our non-smoking room was very smokey, walkways very dirty, covered with cigarette butts, etc. Only 1 small trash can in our room, we needed 2 more. Roudy guests, place was very unappealing except the front.
Review 111:The location and the staff.
Review 112:The hotel was under construction even at 10pm. There were someprostitutes working out of the hotel and also what appeared to be drugusers around the hotel. I would tell anyone that was thinking of stayinghere to find another hotel!!!!!! My boyfriend and I felt very unsafewhile staying here and the pictures posted on booking.com are not actualphotos of the facility
Review 113:Non smoking room stank of smoke and cleaner. Very loud noise disturbance all night which the staff did nothing to stop, dispite frequent calls.
Review 114:The rooms were big, bathroom was nice
Review 115:Dirty. Smelly. Worn out. Old crt type small televisions with terrible signals. Lame breakfast.
Review 116:Leaving that dirty worn out smelly place.
Review 117:Very dirty, hair in bed dirty towels and washcloths.
Review 118:Breakfast
Review 119:Was a great place for a on the way trip home clean, & quiet.
Review 120:Wi-fi was undependable.
Review 121:Best price in town
Review 122:Not the best area, but not dangerous
Review 123:The value was good and a very convenient location.
