Reviews for Redac Gateway Hotel Torrance
Review 1:The location was industrial looking. The name of the hotel is weird too. I woould recommend that they make a few cosmetic improvements for a more boutique hotel feeling.
Review 2:The value and great deal. Pretty decent hotel at a motel price.
Review 3:I didn't like the lack of amenities. Some breakfast would have been nice--or more cable channels, there were literally like 24 channels and only half were in English. Maybe a thicker blanket because it was cold.
Review 4:I liked the bidet and the room decor. The room was a pretty good size too.
Review 5:Breakfast it not great because At 8 am it's was nothing to eat curry soup, not elf and rice only, need improvement and its was very expensive, better it out side only if you have kids , need big frige it's make the family fell good,
Review 6:Everyone is nice,
Review 7:The room furnishings are perhaps a bit spark for most western. It would have also been wonderful to have a an outdoor pool.
Review 8:Before warned this is a very Japanese style hotel. But it is very nice.
Review 9:The AC did not work all night. Never got cold at all and I kept waking up all night. I told the front desk in the morning and he said they would take a look at it.
Review 10:I liked the location as I was going to a meeting the following morning about 5 minutes away. The food in the restaurant and the waiter were all excellent. (had the salmon and fried oysters! The front desk clerk (Aki) was also superb and very accommodating as she tried to get me to the hotel in the dark. I was lost for about a half hour before arriving.
Review 11:Very stark and quite bare all around -- but that's probably the reason why they can keep the rate low. Restaurant had nothing much to offer - even breakfast had sparse offerings. Maybe typical of a Japanese breakfast?
Review 12:Very basic hotel but the restroom was nice! heated toilet seat and automated bidet!! A lot of parking space.
Review 13:The walls were thin. We could hear everything above and beside us and our neighbors kept their tv on loud all night long.
Review 14:The rooms were spacious. The bathroom was very clean. Loved the heated toilet seat and bidet. The free breakfast was rice and Asian style service.
Review 15:Okay, I came across a roach in the bathroom, but I took care of that. But . . . I just hate to see the..
Review 16:The room was spacious. I loved the attitude of staff, I liked the fact there was a restaurant in the complex, plenty of free parking, and the helpfulness of staff anytime we had questions. My adult daughter needed to print a report, and a printer was available.
Review 17:There was a brownout during the dawn til 9am during our first night stay. Rare case. Bu I think they should have a generator for emergency situations like this. Cannot even make a phone call thru the lobby. Place is super dark. No emergency lights around the area. They only offered a flashlight during the morning. They should have offered a discount for 1 night stay for the inconvenience but the manager didn't offer. Smell of room a bit old. One of the male hotel staff is not friendly.
Review 18:Spacious hotel. Nice location. Clean. Japanese standards. Basic needs. Clean and new bathrooms. No problem with parking. Value for money. Happy to have chosen this hotel compared to other hotels nearby which would be a lot expensive.
Review 19:Kinda far from the beach but worth a drive for a great room
Review 20:Loved our room, the beds where confortable, bathroom was clean and shower was great had a tub.
Review 21:That there was no dresser in the room to put our clothes. Also that check-out time was 11:00 am.
Review 22:We loved the heated toilet seat and warm water bidet. Wished we had one at home! The shower was also very nice with a detachable hand held part that could be used at the same time the main shower head was on. Also the fridge was a good size, not a "mini-fridge." And very clean.
Review 23:We had to leave before the breakfast, so could not judge. We did not use the business center. The room was comfortable and nice. Suitable parking. Friendly service.
Review 24:I had booked three rooms and requested the rooms together at booking. When I was given my rooms two were together and one was in another wing of the hotel. When I asked to have them together the staff could not accommodate.
Review 25:Beautiful hotel, very clean
Review 26:breakfast. Food ran out an hour after opening and the staff needed to be told that the food is out. replenishment was slow. in an essence, i ate breakfast with out choices, just what was available which i scraped from the bottom. I have been to similarly priced hotels with a lot better food and amenities.
Review 27:The building is very clean, very well organized. The staff are very courteous!
Review 28:The staff was really helpful. Antonio and two other female front desks men were fantastic. We had many questions: where to get food, what places were popular, and suggested places to shop?. They answered all of them with smiles. Really appreciated the staff that was there 8/14/2015, Antonio and the two front desk women.
Review 29:terrible pillows... you may as well sleep with your head on the mattress - too flat and extremely soft. when asked at front desk for harder ones - they were shocked. Housekeeping takes forever to come do your room. I left each day at 8:30am returning at 3pm and room was still not done. then when trying to either rest or get ready for evening function - the housekeeping then wants to come in. Twice they just walked in without knocking
Review 30:The room cleaning was not done for two nights. WiFi was not user friendly, needed to enter the password every single time.
Review 31:The reasonable price, location
Review 32:All good . If any one thing could be improved on it would be the AC system.
Review 33:Size and cleanliness of the room. The friendliness of the staff. Free parking.
Review 34:They told us shuttle service was ongoing all day until 9pm and tony claimed it came to pick us up where we were dropped off and it was a one time trip. He said do you understand that we cant have the shuttle driving all day long. I told him you understand you said you ran all day until 9pm
Review 35:Tony front desk clerk was rude and shuttle service stranded us
Review 36:Breakfast was not included because I booked with Booking.com. But worse than that, the water had no pressure in the shower. And this was when the hotel was nearly empty, and not completely booked. It took like 30 minutes to get the tub with like 3 inches of water, and when showering, there was only a trickle of water to wash off with. That was frustrating. I felt like I was in a 3rd world country where you have to haul your own water to bathe. I know we're in a drought and all, but let's prioritize here. Personally, I'd rather have an effective shower than a Bidet. And the sink water pressure could be dropped to compensate for the shower increase in pressure. Oh, yeah, and no pool. The area wasn't the best (or the worst) either.
Review 37:The room was clean, had modern decor, and comfy beds. The toilets had a Bidet, which was interestingly refreshing.
Review 38:Having to go to front desk for ice. No breakfast or continental breakfast. That was disappointing, especially for the price. Price not bad but still, even motel 6 has a continental breakfast everyday.
Review 39:Upscale looking, very clean in and outside. Having a bidet was a nice surprise.
Review 40:The window isn't double paned so doesn't block out much noise.
Review 41:A few minutes drive from the 405 freeway. Close to a Japanese supermarket to stock up on groceries. The hotel was recently remodeled so the bathroom is clean.
Review 42:Only one thing that I was not happy was the ceiling was not good so I could hear people walking in the room and kind noisy especially they're rough walker. I woke up with their walking noise.....
Review 43:Since they're remodeling guest rooms, everything was new and clean. Carpet, bed, desks, and bathroom were brand new. The room was decently roomy and little hip with new interior. With the amount that I paid for , it's very reasonable compare to near by hotels.
Review 44:Curry for breakfast? Not my kids idea of continental breakfast. And breakfast was not free. Ac was noisy and so was the street traffic. Cater to Japanese, which we aren't.
Review 45:Antonio who checked me in was awesome!
Review 46:WiFi was available but service was spotty at best. Kept having to re-enter the passcode
Review 47:Nice boutique hotel close to Toyota and Honda corporate offices. Very clean and recently remodeled room
Review 48:We were in the 2nd floor & you could hear the foot steps of the people on the 3rd floor above us. Floor carpets need upgrades.
Review 49:Reception staff was friendly & breakfast was fairly price. The small fridge & free WiFi is a plus.
Review 50:They are in the process of renovating the second floor, but we did not experience any noise or dust issues.
Review 51:I was nervous after this hotel received some poor reviews from others, but I had an amazing experience at Redac. I chose it for its location just down the street from the Toyota Automobile Museum we had arranged to visit (also highly recommended, advanced reservations required). The Redac is a unique hotel catering to Japanese business travelers and as such our deluxe room featured a Japanese style washlet/bidet toilet which was highly appreciated and rare in the states. It lacked the blow dry function of more advanced washlets, but did have a heated seat. If you have never tried a Japanese style toilet you are in for a treat, as it just seems so much more sanitary and clean. I highly recommend the upgrade to the deluxe room as it includes the better toilet as mentioned and the entire room is recently renovated with premium furnishings and very comfortable bed linens and towels. It felt like a very high end hotel room yet was very reasonably priced. There is also a nice outdoor patio at this hotel with inexpensive electric massaging chairs. We much preferred getting a 25 minute massage for just $5 rather than a pool. The young man at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay here again!
Review 52:Room carpets are not very clean You can hear any noise outside the room during night which makes sleeping bit difficult.
Review 53:Staff are so friendly and helpful
Review 54:- Clean, very basic - Staff extremely helpful with local directions and hotel services - Free shuttle (they need 1-hr advance notice) - Delicious Japanese food at restaurant - Safe area - Quiet
Review 55:They had literature stating free shuttle service. I had to pay for my taxi sevice even though I requested their free shuttle service but my sister who stayed their also requested shuttle service about an hour and a half later and didn't pay for her shuttlte service.
Review 56:Came down to Torrance for Oktoberfest at Alpine Village. The hotel was fairly well priced and just a 10 minute taxi ride to Alpine Village. Bed was extra comfortable.
Review 57:Carpet was filthy the first day our socks where dirty after five minutes so I we all just used shoes, chipping paint on walls and ceiling old rusty sink and cracked bathtub on the side, it was rusty under sink as well.
Review 58:The location is near all LA main atractions, price was good, and the maid service coordinator Jasmin was extreamly nice
Review 59:Pictures of hotel on website looked way better than what it really was. Room I stayed in had chipping on the walls and you were able to see bits and pieces on the floor. AC was off when I first walked in so it took a while to cool off. The tv remote only has options for volume and channel so I kept going through all channels to get back to another program.
Review 60:Location was good for my trip and where I needed to go. Staff was friendly.
Review 61:The elevator had a strange smell ...
Review 62:The whole staff was nice..parking lot is well lit...the towels in the bathroom were nicely arranged ....I didn't expect it ... everyone loved it ...
Review 63:Only one thing: I thought that my breakfast meals should have been complimentary, but Yeoung at the Front Desk explained to me that as my reservation was done through Booking.com, my breakfast would not be included as Complimentary. I also felt that the Buffet Breakfast/Brunch was rather pricey at $10.00 + tax.
Review 64:Everyone was so very cordial, helpful, polite and professional. I even had comfortable chats with the staff at the Front Desk from time to time, and they were always very accommodating. The food was good, I loved my room, even though there was construction and repairs ongoing.
Review 65:huge inconvenience not to have internet hard to get the temp right and once more not having access on line with my computer sucked for my five days other than that at best it was Ok
Review 66:The Japanese market down the street was good that they had beer and sodas at the reception
Review 67:They need to seperate the smoking rooms to one floor! The hallways in the morning were polluted with the smell of lingering smoke. Being I have asthma, that wasn't good. The staff could be a lot more attentive. We had to go down & get cups because the front desk couldn't be bothered to bring them to us.
Review 68:Loved the location of the hotel. Cleanliness was fair. My kids were comfortable so we were happy with that. Atmosphere was calm & easy going.
Review 69:There wasn't anything we didn't like
Review 70:The staff was awesome. The room was clean. The bed was a dream! Like sleeping on a cloud. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our weekend stay and will definitely be going back.
Review 71:Bookings.com over booked this hotel. When we arrived there was no room. The only room was a rundown one that had its windows missing. Yes, windows missing, just a screen to the busy street. After lots of searching around they found them but could only get one of the dual window reinstalled leaving a noisy un restful sleep.
Review 72:Renovations to rooms next to us and above us. Started at 7:30 am and very noisy. The hotel turned off the water the second day we were there with no warning. We had to leave after a while in search of a restroom. Carpets need a good cleaning and replaced in common areas. No breakfast included for the price of our room.
Review 73:We had a mixup with our room. We were needing two beds but got one king. The staff brought in an extra bed for the kids. The bed was clean and comfortable. Free parking.
Review 74:I reserved a room for a disable child. But the room I was given was not at all for disable people. It was difficult but it was late and my kids had to sleep. And also I requested two folding beds and I only received 1 bed.
Review 75:The hotel is old! Furniture and equipment from the 70's or 80's?
Review 76:Spacious rooms, parking, proximity to stores, very good breakfast, fast internet, excellent price
Review 77:N/a

Review 83:For the money, the suite was great. Definitely a fantastic value.
Review 84:Bidet is nice touch.
Review 85:Very clean, plenty of parking and professional staff.
Review 86:Closeness to Alpine Village. Lost my ring at hotel. Called 3 weeks later they had it! Honest housekeeping!
Review 87:A nice clean room. We were very happy staying here.
Review 88:Noice toilet vent fan
Review 89:Clean , quite and polite staff
Review 90:New, nice and clean rooms. Best staff ever. Close to the freeway and shopping center. Also a free parking in a safe area.
Review 91:The breakfast...it was Indian style and that is not my favorite.
Review 92:The room was modern; large and comfy. I have never had a heated toilet before.
Review 93:Hot on room. Low ceilings
Review 94:Nothing really bad; just not a luxorious feel to the room.
Review 95:The beds were comfortable
Review 96:Hard bed and ridiculous breakfast (not included)
