Reviews for The Seaside Oceanfront Inn
Review 1:Tiny room. Can't comfortably close the door of bathroom that caused the fire alarm to turn on while taking shower. The restaurant was under renovation.
Review 2:View of the ocean
Review 3:Mis-read deal purchased thought there would be more of a ocean view. walls were thin and other guests were loud. Bathroom was extremely small and had an door that went to the hallway, although it was double locked it was ackward. Sure those in the hallway would have felt that way too walking by. No ice machine and restaurant was shut down for an overhaul, which we were warned about a few days after booking.
Review 4:Location was good.
Review 5:Did not think it was worth the price AT ALL. Bed was horrible. Could feel the springs. Bathroom was old. Broken tiles. Toilet was very low to the floor.
Review 6:The view was great
Review 7:The bed was small. I don't think it was quite a queen, although that is what was advertised. The bed was not very comfortable. The room was a partial ocean view as advertised, but you would have to be sitting in the bathtub in order to see the ocean. The room was also pretty small. I felt that it wasn't that great for the nightly cost.
Review 8:The location was great, I liked the big bathtub in the room.
Review 9:They overcharge you, the room Suck the fireplaces don't work horrible customer service at the front desk I will never stay at this place again and I will let my friends know never to
Review 10:The refrigerator made terrible noise. Bad TV reception .
Review 11:The friendliness of the staff, the view, water pressure in the shower, beach access, fire place.
Review 12:Poorly maintained facilities. Two broken chairs (one didn't recline; other one was permanently reclined); shower handle broke off and thus very hard to use; "fireplace" was a joke...electric fake job...belonged in a place you rented by the hour. Staff advised; said they will address concerns. Good people there.
Review 13:Location
Review 14:The heater/air conditioner was really loud-it woke me up a few times and I was in the upstairs bed. We needed the air on because it was pretty warm and humid in the room despite it being October.
Review 15:Loved the town and the location of the hotel. The suite was awesome for a girls' weekend. Able to hear and see the ocean-just lovely.
Review 16:Parking was across the street and the check in desk was oddly placed in the restaurant. Our room had an extra door in the bathroom that connected to the main hotel hallway.
Review 17:Jetted tub in the room was nice
Review 18:It happened to be our 4th anniversary and we planned this trip 10 months ago and drove 9 hours to end up in the most disgusting room we have ever been in! Really sad as the pictures on website were the whole reason for picking this place! Please incorporate some proper cleaning products.
Review 19:The ocean.
Review 20:Few minor flaws. TV didn't work until they fixed it. Screen missing. Windows didn't stay open.
Review 21:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location. Delightful restaurant below the rooms with an awesome view.
Review 22:We were not given the suite we booked. That particular suite is why we decided on this particular inn and the cost of $319. We were informed that the suite we booked was under construction - new windows were being installed. We were given another suite which looked completely different and it was weathered looking. Lots of spots on the carpet. I was informed that the inn is going through renovations and the suites will be updated in January 2016. Maybe then it will be worth the price. The location is fabulous. I think they charge too much for being under renovations.
Review 23:The location was great! The restaurant on the main level was fabulous for dinner. Breakfast was okay.
Review 24:The boys slept in the loft. Said it was too warm as the AC couldn't cool up there.
Review 25:Drove to Seaside to see the Pacific Ocean. Stayed one night. Loved the hotel. Our room was the very top oceanfront. The view was beautiful.
Review 26:They advertise a happy hour for drinks and food from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.We got there and ordered our first drink at 4:50 pm and we were toldthat the last call for happy hour was at 4:45pm . We went elsewhere forfood and drink. Good choice
Review 27:It was on the beach
Review 28:Bed super firm bordering on uncomfortable. Restaurant in hotel called "Maggie's on the Prom" ultra expensive and food is lousy.
Review 29:Great location! Modern, attractive facility, not too "hotel-like".
Review 30:The room was small and too much furniture. We had the ocean view room and there was barely enough room to get around the bed. Also our shower door was securely attached.
Review 31:The location and view were great
Review 32:The bed was not comfortable. I would have liked more lights. I had to unplug a light to plug something in.
Review 33:The view was good. The bathroom was big. And it was nice to have a luggage cart to help get our things from the car to the room.
Review 34:Small hotel but was a bit noisy w/cleaning at midnight & hallway traffic.
Review 35:Absolutely loved the restaurant - we ended up eating all meals & even happy hr & just stayed 1 night. Room was nice & very clean.
Review 36:If you want to eat at the restaurant, make reservations, even if they have tables open, they turn people away because they have a small kitchen and it gets over whelmed
Review 37:Location, Location, Location, Wonderful Small hotel with Awesome Views of the Ocean.
Review 38:Not enough amenities for the price. No pool or breakfast. We knew that, but thought once we got there they shouldn't be charging so much if not offering anything in the way of ammenities. The room was small. There was green mold on the tile in the bathtub. I noted this on other reviews. You could scrape it off with your finger nail. Have there staff never heard of Tilex?? They don't give you very many towels. Oh, and the TV was confusing to try & change between DVD & the cable. Not sure why the staff automatically didn't do this to get our room ready. Most people would rather have the cable working I would think. Oh, & not sure if it was just their cable company or what, but the cable kept going in and out. It would be fine then it would go out & then come back on in like 15 mins. The channel selection was lame too. Not much to choose from.
Review 39:Nice place. Beach access was close to promenade. Was only here for one night so didn't get to enjoy sitting in the courtyard although it looked quaint. Our daughter liked the jacuzzi tub.
Review 40:Restaurant had some problems .....dinner was good but service was a little slow. Went down for breakfast but the oook hadn't shown up yet and they didn't know how long it would be before he showed up. Was a disappointment because the menu looked good.
Review 41:The room was well appointed and very clean .... only strange this was there was no closet in our particular room.
Review 42:Wifi that didnt work, not a place for kids as you enter from the beach through the restaurant wearing a swimsuit etc. had to park on the street. Would never stay there again for the price.
Review 43:Great for couples or older couples as right on the prom.
Review 44:We didn't feel especially welcome when we first came in, but later the staff seemed ok. Checking in at the desk in the restaurant was a bit strange, they seemed more interested in feeding us than housing us. Parking is challenging..
Review 45:I loved the room, the Kuerig!
Review 46:Nothing not to like. Next time, we will book far enuf ahead for an ocean view.
Review 47:Loved being on the promenade. Had the most incredible Caesar salad ever!!!! Awesome, friendly staff.
Review 48:Didn't like the parking. It seems that with the restaurant/hotel parking combined, paying hotel guests are able to get a space only based on amount of people at restaurant.
Review 49:Liked how clean and simple rooms were. Nice that there was room service.
Review 50:The building is a little older and the hallways and stairwells show the age. We were on the second floor above the restaurant and most of the people eating lunch and dinner could look up and see you if you were standing anywhere near the bed or window, it gave it a slight feeling of lack of privacy, but it was not a terrible inconvenience.
Review 51:-The restaurant was delicious and had a great view at sunset. - Our room was very clean and cozy. - The bed was good and had very comfortable sheets. - The building is in a great location for enjoying the beach and attractions of Seaside. - We got a better price here then a similar resort down in southern Oregon that was not in as good of a location.
Review 52:Restaurant was just a tad unprofessional. Turned away customers prior to published closing time even though "open"sign was still posted. Chef visited patrons behind us but not us.
Review 53:Everything! Bed , pillows, sheets , blanket, comforter, soft towels, toiletries , mints, view, fridge, food, service, etc. it was all wonderful!!! Compliments to the chef!!! Food was like a party in my mouth!!
Review 54:Would have loved to have been able to open windows more. There were just little ones at bottom of picture window. Couldn't hear the ocean. Bathroom was "interesting".
Review 55:The room was not at all like photos on website shown when booking room. The room was not as clean and fresh as photos indicated. The bed in ourroom was the worst mattress I have ever slept on. Wifi kept kicking usoff, so we had to reconnect all the time. Bathtub (large tub with jets)was disgusting and was not a bath tub one would want to bathe in.
Review 56:Location was good, ocean view from room, server in restuarant wasfriendly
Review 57:Limited parking (small inn, it's to be expected) Bed too stiff Bad pillows Too much light in the morning (only plastic blinds) Cleaning staff very loud in mornings
Review 58:Bad parking, bad a/c, tiny room, no privacy, horrible bed, dirty sheets. Even though it was paid in full, I packed up and went home to Portland.
Review 59:Nothing.
Review 60:The bed is super uncomfortable and the air conditioning was not working properly. I called twice to have it looked at and the best they could do was bring me a box fan. There is also absolutely no parking available.
Review 61:The view of the beach was lovely.
Review 62:If the AC unit is problematic, then it should be fully serviced to allow for a good night's rest. Being awake from 0100 - 0230 makes for a rough night with a child.
Review 63:Beautiful view. Great food.
Review 64:Some of the furniture in our suite needed up-dating .
Review 65:The location on the Prom is outstanding and Maggie's on the first floor was a delightful surprise. Good food with outdoor seating and good happy hour specials.
Review 66:The room was hot all the time, the pilot light in the gas fireplace had a large flame that put off heat....the A/C was loud & did not cool the room enough. No windows to open with a screen....bugs came in so I had to shut them. No convenient parking... I had to park across the street down a bit and make multiple trips to bring in my luggage. The TV had cable & a sheet listing multiple channels but only the local ABC, CBS and NBC channels worked. Nothing else could come up. The blinds would not close all the way & so people walking on the prom could see up into my room at night.
Review 67:My bed was comfortable & the sheets were clean.
Review 68:The bathroom Shower could be updated.
Review 69:Excellent location with friendly personalized service. Our room was unique with a fabulous view. We liked that it felt special and that it had nothing to do with a chain or the feeling of a chain hotel.
Review 70:Very few parking spots close to the property. However close to center of town and beach so walking is short. Shower and jacuzzi tub in view of big windows, no privacy.
Review 71:Great size of suite. Perfect view of ocean and Promenade! Very comfortable and quiet.
Review 72:The perfect location to enjoy the town of Seaside. A short walk to the beach and shops. The dining room associated with the Inn was excellent with wonderful service.
Review 73:Wifi was spotty, the shades in the room were mismatched, there were no screens on the windows so I had to keep an eye on the kids as the AC unit did very little if anything
Review 74:Beautiful view, bed was more comfy than expected, great access to the Promenade, jacuzzi and bathroom were very nice
Review 75:Limited parking Poorly constructed layout Difficult after hours access Negligent upkeep/not current Lack of customer service/urgency This property poses as high-end, but not so much. There are no after hours services, so when we discovered our Captain's Quarters room (alleged Mountain View) had a broken sink, dysfunctional TV, dead remote batteries, and no refrigerator, as promised, there was nothing to be done about it. Also, peach towels and brown comforters? Even the Holiday Inn Express gets that guests like white, bright, high thread count linens and towels. When told upon check-out, the hotel manager could have cared less and blamed maintenance.
Review 76:Beachfront location WiFi (The staff of Maggie's, who are tasked with check-in process after hours were also pleasant.)
Review 77:No closet or place to hang clothes., view of apartment next door out of one side window. Much too small for the price . Very little parking. Only view of beach was a a was from a small side window and only could see a sliver of ocean if I stood a certain way.
Review 78:clean, neat, on the prom.
Review 79:Front desk closes at 9pm.
Review 80:Great location, beautiful rooms. Good food at Maggie's restaurant. Highly recommended. You have to arrive by 9pm though as the front desk closes then.
Review 81:Booking.com misrepresented our room and ocean "view". We were so disappointed but front desk promptly worked hard to get us moved into great room! Nothing negative to say about Inn except maybe rooms are small but very comfy!!
Review 82:We had a great view and enjoyed the in house, Maggie's, restaurant so much that we ate there our whole stay to try different dishes! Staff were wonderful!! This's little Inn was a nice surprise!!
Review 83:Room was small - hot tub took up a great deal of space in front of the windows. Nice if you like the hot tub, but did not leave room for comfortable seating other than two hard high-back chairs or the bed. Again, fine for a quick trip.
Review 84:The Inn was on the Promenade and within walking distance for our entire weekend.
Review 85:We were looking forward to eating at the restaurant that they had at the oceanfront Inn but was under construction at the time of our stay
Review 86:We loved loved loved the pillows and the comfort of our bed! I should be bragging about the view of the ocean and beach from our room first but my hubby and i couldn't get over those pillows
Review 87:Breakfast not free. Entrance and gate of hotel was bad
Review 88:.Staff was friendly. and a good location and clean room was exultant. And provided to me bed of my children
Review 89:TV didn't work for local channels. We called the front desk and they never sent anyone to look at it. Didn't matter too much we were out of the room most of the time.
Review 90:Clean and comfortable
Review 91:As great as the remodel looks, the beds are in need of replacement. They are terribly hard. I'm sure that I am not the only one to notice this.
Review 92:The hotel is well updated, clean and the staff was very friendly.
Review 93:we did not get what we were expecting at all. We expected vaulted ceilings with a spacious room, We booked the room for that reason! It was not vaulted ceilings and was a Very cramped Room. Also had to go to a different floor to use a microwave.overall not happy.
Review 94:Room service was a plus!
Review 95:There were no available electrical outlets; perhaps a power strip or two would help. The available bathroom outlet didn't work; The shower curtain rod was loose and fell while I was taking a shower. The refrigerator made horribly loud noises; So we unplugged the beast. Opening the window (no screen) for fresh air was impossible - It kept crashing down; We stuck a trash can in to keep it open. Noise from other guests' rooms was pervasive.
Review 96:The Staff were very polite and helpful. The view was excellent; The facilities were clean; the bed comfortable.
Review 97:tv complicated to use, multiple controllers having to switch html with incomplete instructions
Review 98:room clean, comfortable bed, keurig coffee maker in room, good food and drink, and excellent location.
Review 99:Parking was limited to the street. Room coffee was beyond weak, and the elevator \ stair area looked like it was an unfinished construction project.
Review 100:The room was comfortable, quiet and cozy and warmed up nicely once the heat was turned on. The proximity of the hotel to the downtown area, promenade and beach made for nice walking trips.
Review 101:The cuisine was disappointing. It may be said to be the best in town, but it lacked originality and finesse.
Review 102:Fine staff. Attractive architecture and interior treatments. View of ocean, kite flyers, unleashed dogs running the beach with big grins ear to ear.
Review 103:What is there not to like????
Review 104:The property is right on the Promenade. The building, looking from the ocean or prom is architecturally stunning. It has four levels and each room a different theme. Our room facing the ocean has two leather, comfortable, reclining chairs--we relaxed in those chairs with awesome views.
Review 105:Four car parking unsecured, and other parking too far from the hotel. Booked a room that was not as represented in the photo, showed as very roomy turned out to so too small. No in room microwave. This place is ridiculous iam switching over to Hotels.com Booking.com misrepresenting BYE
Review 106:None of it
Review 107:We had lunch at Maggie's while waiting for our room to become available. The food was cold, service was extremely slow and I ended up being sick that night.
Review 108:Loved being right on the beach with windows facing the ocean.
Review 109:The only complaint i would have would be we ordered room service for breakfast....and potatoes were hard and cold....and a little inconvenient there was no table to eat on.....
Review 110:I liked that it was very small and cozy .... with elegant furnishings....
Review 111:The bathtub did not seem clean, the jets looked a bit pink w/ mildew. That alone made me feel like the rest of the place was some how dirty. The cleaning staff was also up early on Sunday with walkie talkies in the hallway which was very disruptive, the place is not big enough to need walkie talkies.
Review 112:The location on the promenade is good, it was nice to have a nice restaurant downtstairs, Maggie's.
Review 113:The bed was a little uncomfortable other than that everything was excellent!!
Review 114:Loved that there was a kuerig in the room! Nice flat screen tv and gas fireplace - our stay was excellent!
Review 115:Need additional electrical outlets for electronic devices.
Review 116:All staff was friendly and attentive. Room was clean and towels were fluffy! Food was delicious at Maggie's and happy hour was priced just right.
Review 117:Dinner wasn't available for dine in or room service for dinner due to a party that they were renting out the entire restaurant. Outside of the rooms (elevator areas, stairs, hallways) was a little on the skeptical side. By skeptical I mean you had to debate which was the safer route to take, the stairs or the elevator... the rooms definately made up for it though.
Review 118:We stayed in the NW Timber room. It was a beautiful room overlooking the ocean. Very well kept. Ordered room service for breakfast and it was fantastic.
Review 119:Would have liked a coat rack/mini clothes bar in the room .. While the mattress was quite acceptable, some mechanical noise from the kitchen was annoying fairly late into the night. Slept with the hum of the a/c instead of the waves
Review 120:Great location comfy room and bath , partial view was nice. Great for the dog
Review 121:The Whale Watcher (2nd floor) is a little bit compact but if it just for one person or two, it is enough space. But if you were bring more than 3, then you may want to seek bigger room. Also, for some reason the waiter in the morning seem so slow at his pace. It took nearly an hour to get our table and food.
Review 122:I really enjoy the Timber (4th floor)room. The view, space and environment! There is no doubt that room is by far the best my and my wife stayed at. We had an upgrade on our third night there and we wish we have booked it sooner for three days instead! Oh yes and the Jacuzzi!
Review 123:Spa tub didn't work and wi-fi worked about half the time. Rooms were not well insulated and we had extremely loud neighbors.
Review 124:Great location & excellent view.
Review 125:1. We arrived early. The staff promised to call us once room was available, but failed to do so. When we went back they did say the room had been available for a long time, but oops they forgot to call. Did not get a sense they cared at all. 2. Window in one of the bedrooms did not have a curtain. Neighboring property window looks down into the second bedroom so no privacy there. 3. Air conditioner was very noisy. 4. Telephone did not work. 5. Upstairs occupant took a very late shower. That too was very noisy. Could not even watch TV over the noise. 6. The hair dryer was broken. 7. There was only one mirror, and it was in the bathroom, so difficult for more than one person to get ready at one time. 8. The window in the restaurant was infested with insects. 9. The food in restaurant was okay, but the portions were very small, presentation was messy, decaf coffee was barely more than colored water, and was expensive. 10. The foam pillows were uncomfortable. 11. The bedding coverlet and sheets had white fuzzies on them. 12. There was only one entrance from the parking lot, and it was being hosed down when we tried to check in. As a boutique hotel with only 14 rooms located right on the promenade at Seaside, we were excited to stay but greatly disappointed, particularly considering the one night was $349.00
Review 126:Wasn't that clean--made the mistake of dropping something underneath the bed and saw what else was under there. A collection of candy wrappers and various other garbage. Not the most pleasant find. Room featured a Jacuzzi tub, however, the jets in the tub left a lot to be desired.
Review 127:Great view Great location (close to everything) Large room
Review 128:We reserved the Lewis & Clark Suite for our "second honeymoon" -- the most expensive per night ($348/night) hotel my wife and I have stayed in our lives. To say we were very disappointed is an understatement – it was an unmitigated disaster! • The young man at the front desk was busy with his handheld electronic device and ignored us – he then became flippant and aggressively unhelpful. • The windows, looking out to the ocean, were very dirty • Under the bed was so dirty, the line of dust where the vacuum stopped was obvious • There was no cover plate on one electrical plug pot and another was broken • The telephone did not work • The slats, holding the mattress had fallen out and were laying under the bed on the floor • Understaffed – maid-service didn’t occur till the late afternoon • No television reception on Thursday • We advised a woman at the front desk that we were going to check-out and wanted a refund of. “Only the owner could authorize a refund and he is not available” she said. We asked that owner be notified of our request, and for him to contact us. • We checked out the next morning and the Front Desk wasn’t staffed so we called the emergency number. I talked with the owner, Mr. Mercer that we were checking out and that I had asked that he contact us. He then began to cross-examine me as to why we were leaving. He was in full knowledge that we planned to vacate the day before and told us “why didn’t you come and see me”. He refused to refund the cost of the room.
Review 129:We reserved our room the same day and were able to check in immediately which was great and different than many other hotels in the same area. We had room service several times and it was a great value for amazing food. You are no just a number here. It has a mom and pop feel and is very comfortable. I look forward to staying again.
Review 130:Room was filthy dirty. Outlets had no covers on them. Looked like the floor had not been vacuumed recently. Other peoples food and garbage on the floor. For the amount I paid I expected a lot more
Review 131:the elevator was scary and shifted when in it...then it acted like it was stuck between floors. We were on the 4th floor. trying to figure out how to get into property didnt like the lack of parking..only 7parking spaces otherwise have to park across the street.
Review 132:not your typical hotel room size was nice view of town windows that open up oceanfront
Review 133:There were no instructions for the TV that had 3 remotes. Had to call and have them turn it on. The jets in the bathtub didn't work. The air conditioner in the room was super loud and I couldn't sleep with it on. The shower head was difficult to determine how to operate and had to ask about that. For the amount of money per night, everything should of worked and directions should of been very clear on how to operate everything. We were really disappointed and when we left the man at the counter basically said we should of called them for everything. That may be the case, but there shouldn't of been the need for all those issues.
Review 134:The front staff were super friendly and helpful.
Review 135:Would not have been good with our kids, the room was great for just us, but would be too small with our kids.
Review 136:Loved the room and location. The building was very cute, tucked in along the promenade.
Review 137:The front desk was at the bar at the clerk seemed somewhat distracted by doing both duties and the restaurant wasn't crowded
Review 138:The unique furniture. Personal service. Close to amenities. Dining on site.
Review 139:This place is in need of the hotel makeover. The entrance is in the back and grungy. The checkin desk is at the restaurant bar/ glass station. Horrible looking kitchen with no chef...bad food! The bedding was good as the photo shows however the bathrooms are at least 20 yrs old mauve colored toilet with a white lid! Great view with dirty windows. If you are wanting a " circus town" with no restaurants and lots of kids then Seaside is your place...next time we will stay right down the road at Cannon Beach.... Sorry for the RANT just still smating from our over priced stay!
Review 140:My only complaint is the air conditioner in the room wasn't very powerful so we had to leave our windows open at night. This would have been fine except it was Labor Day weekend, so it was busy and there were noisy people on the boardwalk til very late, making it a little hard to sleep.
Review 141:My husband and I stayed in an oceanview room for our anniversary and had a great time! The hotel is cute with friendly staff. I loved that we could access the prom and the beach directly from the second floor. We also had breakfast at their restaurant, Maggie's and were very impressed! We would definitely stay here again!
