Reviews for Sunflower Lodge
Review 1:Water pressure was non existent after flushing a toilet. Do not let anyone flush if you are in the shower. Water temp did not get very warm but It was ok.
Review 2:Excellent location, close to everything a tourist would want to see in the area. Owners were wonderful people and do everything they can to help.
Review 3:We booked the family rooms which online said there were 2 full beds in each room. There were only 2 in one room and 1 in the other. We booked for 7 people. If they would have all been adults or older kids we would have had a problem. Lucky for us we had a playpen for our 7th. The link to the website is wrong. Horrible water pressure. The furnace in the main room was very loud.
Review 4:The rooms were charming and clean. Would stay again.
Review 5:Extremely charming, each separately attached little chalet's with kitchen. So pretty so clean excellent area and dine at Amanda Fonda's if you want great Mexican cuisine ;) They let me bring my 7lb dog, charged me $20.00 extra though. I added it to Google earth..You stay here and you are in the center of Manitou and Old Colorado City..doesn't get much better than that!
Review 6:It was a bit cold in the second room.
Review 7:The place was very lovely and clean, big enough for our group of 6 people. Fully equipped kitchen, 2 bathrooms. Location was also great, just few minutes from Garden of Gods, fast foods and restaurants. We would stay again.
Review 8:No cons whatsoever!
Review 9:Wow, what a wonderful find! This is by far the best place I've stayed in the Colorado Springs area. Nestled in the middle of Manitou Springs and Old Colorado City. We stayed in the 6 person Chalet and could not be happier with our stay. The beds are amazingly comfortable all while being so soft but still firm. Haven't slept so well in a long time. This cottage was very, very clean and comfortable. The whole property has a 'home' like feel to it, which is very inviting. I had the opportunity to chat with the owner for awhile and he was very pleasant, friendly, warm and caring. They go far above a normal hotel's customer service. Thank you for the wondering stay! We will definitely be back soon.
Review 10:Outdoor sitting areas were a little run down and dirty. The chalets were closely spaced together and parking was tight.
Review 11:Lovely decorated private chalet with outdoor seating area. Friendly & helpful staff. Directed us to great French bakery/ dining spot with outdoor seating (where locals go) in Old Colorado City nearby. Very close to attractions. An older property but nicely and uniquely decorated inside, definitely not cookie cutter, with a kitchen so we could prepare some meals and cut costs.
Review 12:You need to be aware that this is not a hotel but a hostel, thus you need to like community atmosphere.
Review 13:Very friendly staff, clean, lovely house. Private room was small, but we only slept there, there is plenty of other space, including the garden, to hang around. Well equipped kitchen, with spices and all, so it was easy to cook.
Review 14:Great family owned spot in a great location. We had a wonderful time and lived the cottage. Could have used a little more water pressure in the shower but not a huge deal.
Review 15:Really bijou! Every cabin has a little but nicely decorated outside space with deck chairs, bbq. A full equipped kitchen in the cabin with pots/pans etc. Bathroom however is a bit dated and needs some updating. But it was so cute I really enjoyed.
Review 16:Interestingly decorated room added character. Bed was very comfortable and small kitchen helped save on restaurant costs for B,L. Many fun well priced restaurants nearby were great for dinner. Our room was very quiet.
Review 17:The lodge style, clean and comfortable! We had one cabin and 4 other family members also each each had one, so we really enjoyed the outside seating areas! The owner/?manager and staff were very pleasant and accommodating.
Review 18:Dish network did not work most of the time we were there. The water pressure in the shower was a joke. Not enought pressure to get shampoo out of hair.
Review 19:Cute outdoor areas and very nice atmosphere inside the little condos.
Review 20:Very helpful/friendly staff. The villa was incredibly cute, much like having your own apartment sized cottage. Bed was large and comfortable! Would definitely stay here again. Only issue was wifi wasn't accessible unless we went to the window. I forgot to mention maybe they should get a new router. All-in-all great and will return
Review 21:the kitchen was adequate for heating meals and having breakfasts and was great for us. If you want to actually cook and have a real sit down meal beyond a simple pasta, etc you might be a little frustrated. The room was adequately clean. However the vents and the porch could have used a good deep cleaning.
Review 22:A very cute place to stay. Our family of 5 was quite comfortable in our 2 bedroom cottage. The beds were comfy. We enjoyed sitting out on our little porch. The owners were very sweet and hospitable. Wifi was great
Review 23:The shower was built for people who prefer minimal water pressure, and are very, very short. At 5'9" I could rest my chin on the shower head, making it difficult for myself and my 6'3" companion. Decor was a bit of a kitschy hodgepodge and could be more minimalistic, but at least it didn't feel like a big generic chain hotel. No iron/board. The wifi signal was touch and go at best.
Review 24:Quiet and tucked away with a rustic/vintage touch. It had the feel of staying at a more comfortable version of summer camp. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the bed was very comfortable, and the room was clean. The biggest plus was not sharing walls with other guests - very private. Our room had plenty of kitchenware to use for preparing meals so you didn't have to eat out all the time, and even a mini fridge. The hanging flowerpots outside of every cabin made it very welcoming. This is NOT the place to go if you're looking for something modern, which was fine for us.
Review 25:It's not in an especially nice area, but it's really nearby other things we wanted to do and see.
Review 26:Perfect location for going horseback riding in Garden of the Gods...2 blocks away. Cute little units. We liked staying here.
Review 27:This funky little place is perfectly located within minutes of Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods. The uniqueness makes for a fun stay, esp. In the one larger cabin. Very inexpensive, but I give it a 5.
Review 28:The smell in the room was not good, but it was a hot day. Wifi signal was pretty low.
Review 29:Cottage was very quiet and clean, better than the surrounding properties.
Review 30:There were some cobwebs around the television cords with dead spiders, ugh. I defrosted the refrigerator during our stay, since tons of ice had accumulated in the freezer area. And the bathroom, especially the awful & dated shower stall, could really use some updating. Given the small space, surely a complete gut and installation of some tasteful & timeless subway tile couldn't cost too much.
Review 31:It was fun to stay in a unique cabin rather than a run-of-the-mill hotel, and the location couldn't be beat. It is close to all of the attractions, including the shops and restaurants in Old Colorado City. It was great to have a small kitchen with a refrigerator.
Review 32:It is not walkable to Manitou Springs attractions, but is just a short drive away.
Review 33:Comfortable bed, clean room in your own private casita, had a nice little kitchenette included as well. Great price for the area.
Review 34:Leaving.
Review 35:Was close to activities we had planned to do. Close to stores and other shops. Staff made sure to assist in anything that was needed. Cottage was clean and efficient.
Review 36:Bathroom was very small and shower head was very low. Outside furniture was mostly unusable due to lack of cleanliness.
Review 37:Location was great, bed was very comfortable, and the owner was very nice and accommodating.
Review 38:No bad experience. The only possible down side is the wi-fi but it was no worse than most hotels have and the cottage is much nicer than a hotel room!
Review 39:Great location, easy access to US24. People are pleasant, room is comfortable.
Review 40:Small black bugs on the floor and bathroom sink. Bathroom was very very small, shelf too small for all your stuff. Very firm bed that you could fell the springs. We had unusually cool weather for July with a low near 50. No heat in the room, but the owner borrowed his neighbor's electric heater for us, which helped take out the damp musty smell as well. The inside room pictures on the internet were misleading. The room is much smaller and not near as pretty. It appears that the inside makeover is a temporal cheap way to keep things going until everything collapses.
Review 41:We had a full kitchen, unique wall pictures and chairs.
Review 42:Low water pressure in the shower.
Review 43:Five star cool, not five star luxury. The best place we have stayed in years. Very comfortable beds, clean, unique place. Felt more like home than a traditional hotel. Located right between Manitoe Springs and Old Colorado City. The owner are very nice and friendly. And we will book here again.
Review 44:Our chalet had an odor but we didn't feel that it was due to uncleanliness.
Review 45:We asked about pool access and they arranged for us to swim next door at another lodge. We stayed in the larger chalet with three beds and it was the most comfortable nights sleep ever! Front sitting porch was nice and we cooked out on the grill.
Review 46:There was no breakfast but that's why it comes with a kitchen.
Review 47:This was such a perfect place to stay. The chalet was adorable and had so much character. We've decided this will be an annual thing.
Review 48:It was so noisy that I felt like we were trying to sleep in the middle of the street. The heater was LOUD when it kicked on, no temperature choice or water pressure in the shower.
Review 49:The staff was friendly
Review 50:The room, staff and facilities definitely exceeded my expectations. I plan on vacationing again in the Colorado Springs area in the near future and will be returning to Sunflower Lodge. . . The BEST experience. Very accommodating .
Review 51:We had a great stay. Lovely grounds. Clean having the small kitchen area was great. We were able to have a small fire outside in the evening. The only bad side it's right off a main road which is a little loud outside but if your inside you can't hear the highway noise.
Review 52:Liked it all. The lodge, even thought it was a little old, it was sufficiently equipped. The location was perfect. Right in the middle of some major tourist attractions. Loads of nice shops and good restaurants in the area.
Review 53:friendliness of staff upgraded for no extra cost all the implements you need in the kitchenette very clean and tidy we would route ourselves that way again just to stay there We arrived late but driving out in the morning the area looked worth exploring funky shops
Review 54:The shower head was a bit low for washing hair, but otherwise fine.
Review 55:I liked the privacy of my own cottage. I didn't use the kitchen for cooking, but it was nice to have the space & keep my food in the fridge.
Review 56:The site is cramped, a bit tacky looking, and in cool weather overly shady - though this could be a plus in hot weather. Wifi is not so good, needed to reboot often, but maybe due to extent of cottages.
Review 57:Handy location to visit the Garden of the Gods and Manitou Springs. Kitchenette is a nice touch, you can make light meals. Comfortable bed
Review 58:No tv in second bedroom. No heat there either. Poor water pressure. Musty smell. Not close to shops as advertised.
Review 59:Location. Ease of entry to rooms.nice linens. Nice kitchen.
Review 60:The shower tile was old and the grout was kind of gross. I wore my flip flops (shower shoes) to take my shower. The water pressure was very low and the water never got very warm. The heater is an old gas heater and it seemed like it was either too hot or too cold in the room. It didn't regulate very consistently.
Review 61:The owners were super nice and helpful. I had to call a couple of times to let them know that we were running late and would be checking in after 8pm. They were both very accommodating. The bed was VERY comfy. So much so that my husband is asking for a new mattress now since we both slept so well. The location is right off of the main road so if you don't have some white noise during bed time you may hear the traffic. However, it is so close to all of the attractions. We never had to go far to find fun things to do! Overall, a great stay for 2 nights!
Review 62:I loved the cottage (#9) that I stayed in. The kitchenette was fully equipped, the room was clean and comfortable, and I especially enjoyed the little porch in front. The folks at the front desk were very accommodating and I wound up staying an extra night more than I had originally intended. It was a wonderful experience! Loved it!
Review 63:staff friendly, competent, liked the clean simple setup, good value for money - it's not the Ritz but a place very well taken care off and conveniently situated at the entrance to Pikes Peak
Review 64:Needed hot and cold water. Only had lukewarm :(
Review 65:The bed was one of the most comfortable ones we've ever slept in! The decorating was very eclectic, homey.
Review 66:Bathroom very old, small and cramped. No tv reception and WiFi pooped out after an hour.
Review 67:Good bed, decent space; small, but full kitchen. Loved the decor - funky, eclectic, unusual. Would be fun to go in the summer to sit outside even on the main street of town. Clean.
Review 68:Very small room, small bathroom and shower and the heater didn'twork although the staff brought in a space heater.
Review 69:The furnishings--somewhat European,a comfortable bed, and a nicelocation
Review 70:Can't think of any thing worth mentioning.
Review 71:This small revamped 1920-30's motel has a nice B&B feel w/o the breakfast unless you fix it yourself. And you can do that with the kitchenette facilities. The king size bed was comfy and linens very good quality. Decoration "eclectic" but tasteful. Most of the units are individual cottages with unique outdoor seating arrangements. "Edgar" was a good and accommodating host. We enjoyed our stay and would return if in the area.
Review 72:As others have mentioned, water pressure is lacking. We knew thesewere no "handicapped" rooms, but I would suggest some grabbars in bathroom.
Review 73:We stayed in the cabin that can sleep six. Took my elderly mother withus so we each had our own bedroom. Adorable cabins with such attentionto details in the decorations! Great location. Went to top of Pike'sPeak on cog train. Enjoyed it so much.
Review 74:Parking lot was small, but nice and cozy.
Review 75:Location was near everything we planned to see on our trip. Management and Staff very nice and helpful. The room was cute and comfortable.
Review 76:the water pressure was terrible - 5 people and showering was a challenge - thank goodness the chalet was charming so it made it bearable.
Review 77:it was very cute and comfortable
Review 78:I wanted to out do or equal my husbands 60th bd which was the grand cannon. our 5 day stay at the sunflower lodge we had everything within a few miles, pikes peak, garden of the gods, caves of the winds, excellent food, and drinks. our morning deer while drinking coffee, the experience of seeing the wolf santuary, which topped it by being kissed by a wolf. everything at the sunflower was perfect and our stay most enjoyable bev and gary for florida
Review 79:Water pressure in the shower a little weak, but did not mind at all with all the positives! A Tub Would Be Excellent!
Review 80:Staff was very nice helpful, Place was a little cottage so nice and comfortable like it was your own little house, bed was nice and soft with lots of warm sheets/comforter, large pillows, overall an outstanding stay, very quiet also.
Review 81:not having enough time to enjoy the many things to do. Going back
Review 82:Nice little cottages, clean, decorated in vintage hippy.... Lots of little sitting area's all decorated in great taste.Loved the fact that we had our own space. Renia, the owner is available and on the ready to keep you happy. Nice people and the town is owesome. Lots of places in town to stay, but for the money this is the place. We will be back, Thanks Renia and family.
Review 83:Bit close to road.
Review 84:Clean, quaint, very friendly staff. Had a kitchen. Whilst clearly old it was freshly repainted and was well furnished and decorated. Huge comfortable bed.
Review 85:Low water pressure (May need to update baths soon)
Review 86:Quaint! Eclectic! Good value and location for the money. A nice break from usual hotel chains. Nice to be able to sit outside your villa too! Very clean.
Review 87:Refrigerator wasn't cold;my food spoiled, door shelves were broken, it leaked and every time I closed it my food fell off the shelves. No coffee scoop-had to guess. Shower head was broken. Toilet and table both waddled badly. Hard to use a laptop on a table that was uneven. I paid for two nights but left after the first because I got tired of all the broken things.
Review 88:Wi-fi worked consistently.
Review 89:Staff was wonderful. Located at the heart of what I wanted to see. Pikes peak, Garden of the Gods. Very cute, comfortable accommodations. I'll go back again.
Review 90:Clean, comfortable, welcoming and helpful owner, cosy personal touch with the furnishings make this a warm and welcoming place away from home. Plenty of parking. Handy to Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak Cog Railway and Old Colorado Springs Town. Highly recommended.
Review 91:Nothing- all was great!
Review 92:Everything! Especially the patio area outside the unit- we were able to have a cozy breakfast there and it was very nice. The kitchen had everything you needed and close to Safeway for groceries. Easily accessible to places of interest in Manitou Springs. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and our room was well represented online, though even more quaint and attractively decorated than the pictures described. The bed was extremely comfortable, and even though it is off the Main Street, it was very quiet. The manager was very friendly and offered to wait for us until we arrived at approximately 11:00 pm when normally the office closed at 9:00pm. We will definitely be back and tell our friends about the Sunflower.
Review 93:Parking was tight but manageable. Cabin quarters were tight also but we weren't living there we were just sleeping there for the most part.
Review 94:Edward the owner, was excellent. Friendly, helpful and truly appreciated that we were staying there. The place is a bit dated but the overall value could not be beaten.
Review 95:Small cabins with separate kitchen ,lovely friendly owners. Perfect place for a relaxing vacation.great location between manitou and Colorado city
Review 96:Gentleman at front desk VERY RUDE!
Review 97:Looked a little dingy on outside
Review 98:Was close to sights and was good to have extra kitchen room Liked that they had extra heater in bathroom

Review 107:A musty order in one of the rooms.
Review 108:Cute place with lots of personality. Close to Pikes Peak. Clean.
Review 109:wifi very bad Some noise from the street
Review 110:The ancient cottage was very cosy, and cleannness in top. Situated in the heart of Pikes Peak
Review 111:Nothing. Look forward to when I can stay again.
Review 112:Loved the husband and wife duo. Anything we asked for, they were willing to help.
Review 113:Room was very small. Only one faucet (hot) in shower and in the bathroom sink.
Review 114:Friendly staff. Kitchenette. Private parking space.
